    CA Ts need to complete a program before they can clear their credential - So I work with "new" Ts who have a contract and I mentor them for 2 years. We meet and do have assignments, but it's mostly reflection pieces. I really enjoy it! Thanks for Asking :) #NGSSchat

    The #NGSS are for ALL students for a reason. For too long a certain kind of science has been privileged and thus the limited diversity of ideas is where we are struggling. We need to privilege diverse ways of sensemaking to make the leaps we need #NGSSchat

    I had the opportunity to attend an NGSS 2 day workshop for grades 3-5 (supported by @cascience) where Ts from @JurupaUSD taught actual lessons - These NGSS lessons incorporated STEM and were amazing! #NGSSchat

    A1. I think #STEM is meant to show the interconnectedness of learning. Unfortunately, it can lead to greater "siloing". STEM can get pulled out as a separate course, which can make it harder to connect to everything! #NGSSchat

    A little bit of a learning curve but students can upload their own data or look at bigger supplied data sets and then manipulate the way that it is displayed and run basic stats on it. It's worth it if you use it consistently as your data analysis tool. #NGSSChat

    They have to become interdisciplinary collaborators, just as we ask our teachers to be. Learn about the practices and connections in the other disciplines. Seek PD in the content area you’re not as familiar with and dive in. It doesn’t happen overnight for sure. #NGSSChat

      Why do we read in history? Why do we measure in home ec? Why do we use language to describe art? Simple, they are all interrelated parts of the whole w/the whole being how we think and process #ngsschat

    I keep finding the best STEM lessons are more than STEM they are interdisciplinary. Adding in the ELA, Social Studies, Art, Community Service, Etc... #NGSSCHAT

    STEM should include all of the subjects in the acrynym. Science-not surprisingly- often includes tech, engineering and math. But STEM should be a banquet of lessons. #NGSSchat

    A6. I love the free simulation software that was created by North Western University called NetLogo https://t.co/KID2hIDoMh This is a fairly easy to use simulation software that middle school and high school students can use to create simulations to address some PEs. #NGSSChat

    I found that @googlearts has great texts and pictures that can support lessons. I used "Dinosaur" and pushed it out through Google Classroom. My 3rd graders really got into the research we were doing. https://t.co/joT2Wn8lnH #NGSSchat

    I often use @PhETsims when sci equipment is limited or not available. Also use them when Ss could easily reinforce misconceptions with bad data. #NGSSchat
