  • DebKaplanEdTech Feb 11 @ 9:10 PM EST
A2: I LOVE the pineapple chart idea I learned about at GAETC 2 years ago but I failed to get it to catch on last year and haven't tried again yet but I really love the concept. Would love some suggestions and input! #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:10 PM EST
Oh yes!! That should be required reading/listening for the citizenry...things that don't match our viewpoints! #TECHtalkGA

  • Miss_Crocker Feb 11 @ 9:10 PM EST
A2: I am currently working on expanding my #breakoutedu resources, coding the standards #coding, and my @GoogleForEdu Level 2 certification. #TECHtalkGA

    In reply to @DebKaplanEdTech
  • mycalfdoll Feb 11 @ 9:12 PM EST
A3: it’s important to gather meaningful Information in one place for stakeholders to be informed. The other is important because soft skills of speaking, listening, respecting, collaborating, are also skills needed in a digital world. #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:12 PM EST
Welcome, Deb! We're so glad you joined us! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @hmmorin, @glma
  • CurtHitchens Feb 11 @ 9:12 PM EST
#TechTalkGA A3: Potty PD and EdCamp are important to me because we don't have a lot of instructional technology PD happening within our district.
  • AJacksonRHES Feb 11 @ 9:12 PM EST
A3: It's important to me because it's important to my teachers. They need help to incorporate digital writing opportunities so helping them help their students is what I'm here for. #TECHtalkGA
  • gabolhuis Feb 11 @ 9:13 PM EST
A3: in any school, the media specialist is there to serve all patrons. Empowering them as leaders and recognizing their expertise helps everyone! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:13 PM EST
I love this idea! I just haven't decided how to translate it to my district yet. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @CurtHitchens
  • DebKaplanEdTech Feb 11 @ 9:14 PM EST
A3: we as Ts can learn so much from watching each other but so few have ever gotten to do it beyond student teaching that it has become "normal" and Ts are hesitant to try it #TECHtalkGA
  • Miss_Crocker Feb 11 @ 9:14 PM EST
A3: My students LOVE breakouts, so I want to have more readily available (they take so long to create!) I am also excited at the challenge of @GoogleForEdu certification #lifelonglearner #techtalkga
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:15 PM EST
Ahh! Were you there too?? We need to do a better job at meeting next year when we're in Miami! So far, I know that I was there (#FETC) , plus @apsitjen, @Mrs_Bongi, @crazymrst ...who else from #TECHtalkGA?
    In reply to @AJacksonRHES, @fetc, @BryanCoSchools, @apsitjen, @Mrs_Bongi, @crazymrst
  • ClintWinter Feb 11 @ 9:15 PM EST
A3: @edcampGA is important because it may open eyes to try something you may not think is possible. Budgeting is important because we need to be mindful of how and what we are spending. Long range planning is important because you want to sustain what is being built #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:16 PM EST
    #TECHtalkGA Q4: What's going well so far?
  • apsitjen Feb 11 @ 9:16 PM EST
A2: I am currently supporting the @APSInstructTech district roll-out of devices to more than 6,000 6th & 7th grade @apsupdate Ss. I am also working on a number of video projects with MS & HS Ss. #TECHtalkGA #APSITInspires #TechTips411
  • mycalfdoll Feb 11 @ 9:17 PM EST
A4: finding people to help in these projects. Can’t do it alone. #TECHtalkGA
  • gabolhuis Feb 11 @ 9:18 PM EST
A4: Truth? I'm not sure...I have seen so many struggles this year and heard so many people share how disheartened they feel. It's a tough season. #TechTalkGa
    In reply to @MmeBurgess
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:18 PM EST
    Oh, wow! That's a lot!! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @apsitjen, @APSInstructTech, @apsupdate
  • Miss_Crocker Feb 11 @ 9:18 PM EST
A4: Two breakouts happening right now -- cells and Westward Expansion.. not my best, but the students are loving the challenge. I tied in some research standards, so they aren't experts - but have the tools to find the right answer. #techtalkga
  • CurtHitchens Feb 11 @ 9:19 PM EST
#TechTalkGA A4: Potty PD has been well received in my building and in one other building on the other side of the county. People seem receptive when I talk with them about EdCamp, but they typically don't want to give up part of a Saturday in order to attend.
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:20 PM EST
For sure...we all need help. That's why I love this group: we may be small and isolated in our districts, but I can always turn to to you guys! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @mycalfdoll
  • ClintWinter Feb 11 @ 9:20 PM EST
A4: lots of great stuff is going well. So proud of SS and Ts @ECMSRAMS breakingout proud of our Ts and Ss embracing 1:1 #TECHtalkGA
  • AJacksonRHES Feb 11 @ 9:20 PM EST
A4: I'm learning to celebrate the little things. I've been able to create more in the last couple weeks. We've had a major virus on some machines so I am consumed with repairs & not seeing my Ts and Ss as I used to. So creating the #hyperdoc has ben amazing! #TECHtalkGA
  • AJacksonRHES Feb 11 @ 9:21 PM EST
The isolation is serious! I never would have imagined - I have to sit in the media center to do work sometimes to get out of my cave! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess, @mycalfdoll
  • DebKaplanEdTech Feb 11 @ 9:23 PM EST
A4: our Ts have done great being brave and innovative integrating tech in our first 1:1 year. It takes so much hard work and courage to break out of your teaching style comfort zone! #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:24 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA Q5: What do you need help with? Or what's not working so far? How can WE help each other?
  • ClintWinter Feb 11 @ 9:25 PM EST
A5: Would love to hear how your hyperdoc lessons are going. Also, if you have long range plans what those may look like. #TECHtalkGA
  • AJacksonRHES Feb 11 @ 9:25 PM EST
A5: Teacher buy-in!! I don't know how to get teachers to try new innovative tools or activities. I know they have their systems but I want them to get that it's not "another thing" it is just like the strategies they already use! #TECHtalkGA
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:26 PM EST
Yes!! It's hard, right?! We have so much to do, but we need out and we need engagement, too! So sometimes you sacrifice one for the other.
  • mycalfdoll Feb 11 @ 9:26 PM EST
A5: time? Someone to give feedback and expand on ideas is great too. #TECHtalkGA
  • CurtHitchens Feb 11 @ 9:28 PM EST
#TechTalkGA A5: I'm having trouble getting someone at each school in the district to post my Potty PD documents in their restrooms. The easiest approach would be to distribute the documents to media specialists and have them post the documents in their restrooms.
  • AJacksonRHES Feb 11 @ 9:28 PM EST
My school is only 2nd & 3rd grade. I usually don't introduce Hyperdocs until after Christmas. I usually try to do a @Screencastify of me modeling how to navigate it. Then I put that in Google Classroom so they can always reference it if they get confused. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @ClintWinter, @Screencastify
  • NateilCarby Feb 11 @ 9:28 PM EST
Using @AdobeSpark to create student newsletters has been a hit this year! Going to use it more as a way to publish student writing. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess, @AdobeSpark
  • MmeBurgess - Moderator Feb 11 @ 9:29 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A5: I'll be super-honest and say that I would *love* to "pass off" as many of these chats as I can until May, when I defend my EdD proposal. If you have an idea for a chat, submit it! I'm taking up suggestions as much as I can for my own sanity.
  • gabolhuis Feb 11 @ 9:30 PM EST
A5: I need connect time. I literally have to schedule it. Learning to set boundaries and say no and yet to care for my personal needs... A great PLN helps! Thank you! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @MmeBurgess
  • CHamsClassroom Feb 11 @ 9:30 PM EST

  • Miss_Crocker Feb 11 @ 9:36 PM EST
A5: Stretching myself to try new tools. I get comfortable using tools that are out of the majority of teachers' comfort zones, but I need to push myself and my students. #techtalkga
  • NateilCarby Feb 11 @ 9:37 PM EST
Yes! A colleague had to remind me that "NO" is a positive word! #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @gabolhuis, @MmeBurgess
  • CHamsClassroom Feb 11 @ 9:37 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A3: It's important to me because a) going through the #designthinking process is the hardest thing I've done as a teacher, and b) I want to give my Ss new ways to tap into research, connect with experts, and publish their findings!
  • CHamsClassroom Feb 11 @ 9:40 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A4: I have really been putting myself out there, reaching out to so many experts in the field, and connecting with anyone who is into podcasting. (Here's looking at you @itsleegreen...hoping we can connect at #EdTechTeam summit in a few weeks!)
  • NateilCarby Feb 11 @ 9:41 PM EST
Lol! Yeah, this is always a challenge. I wish there was a silver bullet for staff buy-in. #TECHtalkGA
    In reply to @AJacksonRHES
  • CHamsClassroom Feb 11 @ 9:42 PM EST
#TECHtalkGA A5: I have no clue how to expand my project beyond this singular science project. Not sure how to make a space for it in a small school...and I still need experts in hydropower and wind power to chat with my kids...anyone got connections?
  • iamryanwhite Feb 11 @ 9:58 PM EST
And I missed #techtalkga. Got completely sidetracked by @valdostastate work. I'll be lurking the backchannel.
