Hi #NoVAedchat Brian in Fairfax VA - Former English Teacher and Tech Specialist, currently ESOL data specialist. Thankful for @libraryms and @coreythornblad
First time doing #NoVAedchat. I’m Nichole and I’m the Elem ESOL Math instructional support teacher. I’m thankful to have @BrianHerb17 in my #PLN he encouraged me to be here tonight :)
A1 I think our staff has gotten a lot out of professional learning experiences so far this year. I know I have stretched my thinking in collaborating to create them! #NoVAedchat
A1: As I think about this school year and what is going well is the support and follow through from my admin @AllenHicks66AP & @mrs_ochs_ with my ideas and growth toward being a better instructional coach. #novaedchat#HamptonOaksPLC
Q1: This school year, I think our cross departmental relationships are going very well! My teams PD has also been well received by teachers across my county! #NoVAEdChat
A1: Lots of things going well! I'd say one of the biggest things I'm excited about is my staff's enthusiasm for trying new things, being willing to take risks, and recognizing when and how technology tools might be appropriate in their instruction. #NoVAedchat
A2: When I think back on the year so far what is going well is being invited to the table for discussions during our #HamptonOaksPLC meetings. Being included is half the battle with changing people's thinking about the ITRT role to more of an instructional coach. #novaedchat
A2: I still have room to grow, but I am most proud of my growth as a leader. I am striving more more feedback and trying to put it into action! It’s not always easy but being a part of an amazing team helps! #NOVAEdChat
A2: I'm most proud that this year I've helped teacher focus on not just using technology to use technology, but to use it when it makes learning purposeful and meaningful! #NoVAedchat@FcpsOn
A2 I am most proud of shamelessly asking for help & resources 24/7. So many supportive people, esp for new #FCPSsbts! Self-advocacy is my goal! #NoVAedchat
Aaaah, this is one of my regrets this year. Blogging regularly was so good for me last year but with all the crazy this year I fell apart. Any advice? #NoVAedchat
A2: I still have so much room to grow, but I think I am most proud of the way I (we-my fellow 7th grade CT) have incorporated/tied blended learning with PBL this year. #novaedchat
I am always so amazed by your ability to keep up with everything and still blog in the midst of all the craziness. Do we put too much on ourselves??! #NoVAedchat

Q2: Most proud of how I am branching out and trying new tech integrations with my Ss and really highlighting student voice. Being seeing my Ss take the lead, I am growing as a Teacher. #NoVAedChat
Who has supported me? Other amazing #Fcpssbts! What has supported me? Continued professional development opportunities based on what I CHOOSE to focus on. #voiceandchoice#NoVAedchat
A3: I am constantly asking for feedback. Sometimes I get it, most of the time I don't. I feel most supported when people take the time to let me know what's good and what needs improvement. #novaedchat
A3: I would give credit to the support from my two admin, but also my other #StaffordITRTs. Without both I think many of us may have quit a long time ago because our position as ITRT's is a lonely and stressful one. #novaedchat
A3: Oh golly, this list could go for days- anyone who has pushed me outside my comfort zone, helped me grow, supported me when I had doubts, the great Ts who share their ideas during #TechYesPBL and my PLN! #NoVAedchat
Q2: Still lots more to grow from-but excited to model what an instructional coach/tech tosa looks like and build relationships with teachers! #NoVAedchat
A3: So many inspirational colleagues have blown my mind and pushed me to grow, I think of them & their courage on the reg!👉 @RashidaJGreen & @mrlearns 🙌#NoVAedChat
A4: It's okay to block off time in your schedule for personal learning & reflection! You have to take care of yourself to be able to fully take care of Ts & Ss. #NoVAEdChat
A4: Love this question! It will all get easier. Things will fall into place. October will be better. And by November you'll be on a roll and ready to find a new focus! #NoVAedchat
A4: If I was able to talk to my "August self" I would say remember this feeling of excitement and remember to breathe when things get tough. You are going to have growing pains and thats ok because you need to learn to walk before you can run. #novaedchat
A4: It's okay to block off time in your schedule for personal learning & reflection! You have to take care of yourself to be able to fully take care of Ts & Ss. #NoVAEdChat
A4 Starting the yr w/ a new unit, although overwhelming at times, will turn out to be a joy when your Ss tell you they've never had this sort of choice in rdg, reflection or assessment before- oh, & book chats at Starbucks! #NoVAedchat
A4 not sure, it’s been a great year. Not sure I’d want to do anything different. Maybe make more@time to read all those books on your want to read list... but I am still letting myself that now 😜 #NoVAedchat
A4: just keep swimming- make a to-do list, make some coffee, don't bite off more than you can chew, take a breath, the sun will still come up tomorrow, just do your best. #novaedchat
A5: I am keeping a to be read/watched/listened to @google Doc full of articles, books, videos, & podcasts. This helps me set/track professional goals! #NoVAedchat
A5: I definitely have to say the greatest resource has been the people around me - I'm grateful for the opportunity to work with such exemplary educators! #novaedchat#fcpssbts
A5: The #FCPSOn phase one schools have done some incredible work and developed amazing artifacts which will support all of FCPS as we move towards 1:1 (aka resource equity) #novaedchat
A5: Attending conferences and workshops, reading books from #edtechteam and @burgessdave publishing, participating in twitter chats. Being a lifelong learner! #NoVAedChat
A5: collaborating with other Ts, having the opportunity to share ideas which spark new ones, twitter, saving ideas/articles in Google Keep, and #TechYesPBL have all helped me to further my thinking/growth #novaedchat
A5 I've found inspiration on Twitter from writers/teachers/friends I admire-and from my Ss; one brought me a book on writing she read cover to cover in the airport and had to share! #NoVAedchat
A5: The people I work with! I also was able to attend #WIDA17 and grow my learning. Seeing so many teachers in action and visiting HSs has taught me a lot #NoVAedchat
Completely agree! I need to be the best I can be in order to help my Ss find their voice and make learning meaningful for them. In order to do that, I need to keep learning and change things up. #novaedchat
The hashtag #ownlilteracy is where you can see literacy in action in schools, and there is a page on the FCPSnet which I will share once I'm connected via VPN #novaedchat

A6: When I think of my job I am most thankful for the Ss that I get to work with. They are the reason I am in teaching because it definitely is not for the pay. #novaedchat
A6: The people—my colleagues & students. And the fact that I love what I do so much it doesn’t feel like work to be chatting at 9pm about work. #NOVAedchat
A6: Most thankful for the relationships I have with my students 💚 It’s what keeps me going, and constantly working to be better #alldayeveryday#NoVAedchat
A6: I'm thankful that I get to work with such awesome students and co-workers- they're the best! Im also thankful for the ppl outside my school who help me to improve. grow, & learn new things! #novaedchat
A6: Thankful for the people I'm surrounded by each and everyday. The people that inspire me to keep learning, to keep trying new things, and who lift me up and remind me that the most important thing to keep in mind is what's best for our students! #NoVAedchat
A5 I've gotten into a lot of podcasts this year. I run a lot and I can't read when I run so I like to listen to books (but the learning kind aren't always available in audiobook, so I have been listening to podcasts. #Novaedchat
Q6: When I think about my work, I’m most thankful for my amazing Ss who inspire me every day, my PLN who supports me, and my district @WCPSDrescher for supporting you program and allowing me to be the best that I can be. #NoVAedChat#GratitudeSnaps
