Our chat will focus on the idea that we can lead and make positive change from any position in our school systems. Leadership is not about a title, it is a way of thinking and acting.
A1:My biggest job every day is to model for my Ss traits like kindness, respect, and empathy, so that they can in turn pass them on to others. #LeadLAP
A1 @PaulSolarz has put a pretty comprehensive list of soft skills together in #LearnLAP. Collab, crit thinking, perseverance, initiative, and so much more #leadlap
A1-Advocacy is something I am working on with my students. I want them to have the courage to talk to their teachers when something is bothering them #LeadLAP
A4. It helps to recognize that discomfort is normal. There is nothing wrong with feeling discomfort. Discomfort does not mean one is a "weak" leader, it means we care, and have empathy 4 others. Empathy should not be taken 4 granted, it's a vital human feeling. #leadupchat
A1: This year it has been trying to guide them to a sense of self empowerment. Lots of I can't do this, and a refusal to consider I can't do this yet. #leadlap
Maybe especially with adults! They need to model for students. But, beyond that, these skills affect school culture and that impacts students learning! #LeadLAP
A1 For me, soft skills are vital for my special students. Teaching and cultivating empathy, responsibility, and compassion are huge. Our students need time to cultivate these daily to empower themselves too. #leadlap
A1. A powerful Q. because S remember the soft skills. Respecting each student is critical. A key technique is giving students time to answer Q. by not calling on the 1st hand that goes up. "Wait time," a soft skill (and strategy) when working with S is critical. #LeadLAP
Very well said @latoyadixon5! And at the end of the day, what we measure is what we value so accountability is going to win every time. We need to address the mismatch with some courageous conversations! #LeadLAP
RTQ1: What are the important "soft skills" you teach? #leadLAP
A Kinder teacher I know has 1 rule: "Be a friend." Teaching kids how to do this is so important.
A1: I was at a workforce meeting and they challenged us to stop saying "soft skills". They reminded us those are the skills that are detrimental for our success. #LeadLAP
A1: One of the “soft skills” that I teach my students is the concept of “failure leads to success”. My students encourage each other when they are academically struggling because they know that when they learn from their mistakes they are just getting closer to the goal! #LeadLAP
Good morning #leadlap A1: I love to foster growth and connections in our superheroes as they get ready for Junior High. Success skills like gratitude and grace, humor and courtesy, respect and kindness will help them reach higher and go to great places beyond our walls.
A1: Kids need to know how to problem solve, think critically and collaborate with others. These skills will assist them in college and going into the workforce. #leadlap
A2: As adults we need to model this for our students each day. We also need to expose them to situations where they can work together and develop those skills. #LeadLap
A2: Again, we model those skills. We spend time trying to teach students who have conflict how to manage it and speak up when something needs to be said. Respectful interactions say a lot to students -"You're not yelling at me?" #LeadLAP
A2: Firs of all, model them. These are skils that must be taught. Ss must learn to communicate, listen, and work together. It's not natural for many and must be taught #small steps #LeadLAP
A2: I think modelling, showing that there is redemption in mistakes, that we make them too. That we all have bad days and they are not an indicator of forever. This builds trust we are not going anywhere and hopefully that builds relationships. #LeadLAP
I once read that teachers should consider what they want students to remember about their classes, when meeting 50 years in the future. "What do you remember about my class?" What former students say, will likely include the soft skills. #LeadLAP
A1: Tattling turns into teaching students how to have courageous conversations:
"I felt __ when you __."
"I'm sorry. It won't happen again."
Shake hands and move on.
#leadLAP#leadupchat
A2: We have an advisory period that we call crew. Same Teacher same group of kids all year to build relationships. Also we have a restorative room for students and are getting better at restoring relationships when broken. #leadlap
A2: We do Thinking Thursday lessons each week that focus on SEL! We incorporate team building & morning meetings that help establish & strengthen relationships! #leadLAP
A2 As An #ibpyp School we have a set of attributes that comprise the #IBlearnerProfile. These really help guide our students to understand relationships. #LeadLAP
A2: We need to get to know the strengths and talents of our Ss and also their fears and insecurities. That will allow us to help them with both! #leadlap
Q1: Empathy, kindness & being an "includer" are the most important soft skills, as they translate to other soft skills like problem solving, self-esteem, communication & positive social skills. #LeadLAP
A1: Empowering kids to advocate for themselves is essential. My aim was to amplify the talents within them that were once dormant and bring their voice to the forefront! #LeadLAP
👋🏼GM! Serve as an Instructional Coach at Bartlett Middle School in Porterville, CA. Sorry I'm late but grateful to be able to join the #LeadLAP chat once again! ☃️
A2 Celebrate THEM for who they are and what they bring. Be excited students are present and lift them up daily. They watch your every move. The ball is in your court to make an impact. #leadlap
RTQ2: How do you support students in building relationship skills to support social emotional learning? #LeadLAP
In the past, I've had "Thankful Thursday" class meetings. I have not done that (yet) this year. Maybe I will start after winter break.
#Leadlap get out of your office and go spend time with Ss, in the classroom, on the playground, in the hallways! I took away my table in my office and brought in a couch. Fewer barriers for better conversions. Here is my mobile office! #principalsinaction#positiveprincipal
A2: morning meetings with focus on character building and social skills, social stories, role playing are all ways we can build Ss social skills. Most importantly modeling good social skills and being a support to Ss! #LeadLAP
Humility is a vital soft skill that teachers should emulate. Zenger and Folkman in "The Extraordinary Leader" made a brilliant point for all teachers and leaders: "Humility will make you approachable." If a teacher is not approachable they cannot succeed. #LeadLAP
A2: I purposefully grouped students for a project. Every girl worked with a boy. Every LAP student worked with non-LAP student. Avoid putting friends together. I told students purpose of doing so was to make new friends. #LeadLAP
A2: Emotional literacy is critical for SEL. If a child is in the throes of anger, she isn't picking up much academic content. We model & teach active empathic listening, compassion, kindness to keep Ss emotionally healthy and ready to learn. #leadlap
A2: GM! Jessica, principal from CA just joining. My AP & I have monthly Read Alouds of books that have a strong SEL lesson & we also include an activity. Ts sign up for us to come in. #LeadLAP
This makes my heart hurt! My Ss come in every day and have no clue what to expect which I love. I still have to test them of course but I tell them I am preparing them for battle. Making every thing an experience! #leadlap
RTQ3: What are some of the most successful tools you teach students to deal with emotions? #LeadLAP
Breathe!
Breathe in through your nose like you're smelling a rose.
Breathe out through your mouth like you're blowing out candles.
Three times deep breathing calms all.
A3: I am finding this year self reflection is working for me, and I am modelling that with the Ss. Why are we upset or frustrated? Figuring out the why is the first step in changing course #LeadLAP
The why is so important. I often get "I don't know why I feel this way. Or I don't know why I did that". Its easier for kids than saying what they feel. #LeadLAP
Great Qs. Here are my thoughts. 1. Because schools have neglected it for so long, more so recently. 2. Aligning it with the current curriculum and making time in the schedule. 3. All of us. #leadlap
A2 I try to be a #PrincipalInAction. Getting out of my office, spending time in classrooms, making my office student centered, emphasizing the importance of team building in our school #LeadLAP
A3: I try to help them understand that their emotions are real and that it is ok to express them. It’s how they choose to express them that is the most important #LeadLap
A3: In my 1st grade class, we do a lot of role playing & scenario discussions! We rate our feelings during morning meetings! As a school, we’ve used Strong Start & Strong Kids lessons for our Thinking Thursday SEL! #LeadLAP
A1: Growing up my Parents taught me about the importance of being "bien educada" in addition to being educated. Both sides are equally important & will continue to try to instill them in my own son as well as the Ss I serve. #LeadLAP
A3 Providing authentic opportunities for Ss express their feelings = KEY.
I personally think #BookSnaps have proven to be an amazing tool to share emotions. Ss can connect to text & speak from their heart. #LEADlap
A3 I teach and spotlight social skills daily. Some of my students use a 5 point scale to show their emotions while others can voice it. Emotions are a part of daily life. We have to acknowledge them to move forward. #leadlap
A3: growth mindset is a huge one. Our counselor @cervera_denise does an amazing job of providing guidance lessons every month in classrooms. She asks for Ts feedback on the topics to cover. #LeadLAP
A3: Making all feelings normal and validating them by talking about feelings expression rather than pretending we all have to be happy all the time. Ss love activities like this one we made to open up convos. #leadlap
A3: Being an English teacher, I show them the healing they can find in writing. We address this mainly in our poetry unit and the results are amazing! #leadlap
A3: I try to help them understand that their emotions are real and that it is ok to express them. It’s how they choose to express them that is the most important #LeadLap
A3: Mindfulness! We implemented a 15 minute #mindfulness period right after lunch for all students! It’s December and students are slowly starting to make connections on how it can help them regulate their emotions! #LeadLAP
A2 Using Goleman's work on Emotional Intelligence, as a strategy to support SEL classroom work helps. A critical piece is modeling the behaviors 4 students & celebrating those students who display self-awareness, restrain impulsivity, and show respect, humility, empathy. #LeadLAP
A3 looking for suggestions on this one! We do read a louds, a temp gauge w emotions for Ss to help identify and regulate anger, focus on this in morning meeting #LEADlap
A3: At HS level, I focus on teaching Ss that:
We can work effectively with people we don't like
We can agree to disagree & still be respectful if not friends
#LeadLAP
A1: Growing up my Parents taught me about the importance of being "bien educada" in addition to being educated. Both sides are equally important & will continue to try to instill them in my own son as well as the Ss I serve. #LeadLAP
A2: We have carved time every single day to make this a priority in our school. It can't just be a focus for the month or single event/assembly. Intentionality matters! #leadlap
100% agree! It’s so important to validate students emotions and not say things like oh you’re just being silly or there’s no need to feel that way. It’s better to talk about why they feel that way and go from there. #LEADlap
A3: Not just okay to feel these emotions, it is critically important to do so, then learn to manage them. We need kids to acknowledge a full range of emotions! #leadlap
#leadlap A3: letting students know that all emotions are valid, that they are valuable, and capable of meaningful conversations and solutions when things go wrong. Creating a culture where mistakes are expected and accepted, as learning opportunities
A3 Building your classroom environment and the relationship between your Ss is the best place to start. This way all of your young leaders can help one another with emotions. #LeadLAP
A3: I always acknowledged their emotional responses and guided and coaxed them towards a more appropriate response. Most adults still need this coaxing! #LeadLAP
A4: I tell them ALL the time they are the way they are meant to be. I share stories of how I was made fun of because of my curly hair or because I am such an introvert and independent. #leadlap
A2 Modeling the behavior is key. If I want Ss to be connected to others in the class, then I also need to be connected to others. We enjoy each others’ interests and hobbies. I subject my class to my ❤️ of #StarWars 🤖 #Leadlap
A3. Emotions are natural and they are going to present themselves all the time. It comes down to being able to deal with them in appropriate ways before moving forward. #LeadLAP
A4: @burgessdave really opened the lines for great conversations following his GHO. We tackled some tough issues the day after. GREAT teaching opportunity. (Thank you Dave.) #leadlap
A4: Model how to handle making mistakes (not end of world), that other ideas are worth considering, & the only handicap is attitude. Dream big & go after it. Then I openly model that too. #LeadLAP
A3b: We also have a calm-down place with lots of sensory strategies we fondly cal our Peace Room so students can emote and deescalate from their big uncomfortable feelings. #leadlap
RTQ4: How do you support students with their self image? #LeadLAP
When I subbed at the high school, the graffiti in the bathroom said, "You are beautiful." There were little hearts posted around the halls saying, "You can do it!"
A3: Books! Relating to the protagonist-or a similar situation, & knowing that their feelings are both valued & they are not alone w/challenges... this really gets needed conversations going. Books also give children the language they need to communicate their feelings. #LeadLAP
A4: Constant care and attention I think. Ss have so much coming at them, way more than I ever did and WAY more than my parents ever did. We need to be mindful of that and provide the light to counter all that dark out there. #LeadLAP
A3: First validation their feelings, breathing exercised to get calm, and to their heart rates down. It's really difficult to think clearly through difficult situations if they angry & upset #LeadLAP
A3. The E-R-O concept that @TimothyKight talks about is vital. What happened happened. How they respond to that is what determines their outcome. #Leadlap
A3: teaching our most challenging students self regulation skills has been challenging for us the past couple of years. Becoming trauma informed #leadlap
A4: any chance I get, I tell them how good looking & pretty they are, how nice their outfit, hair, shoes are. I try to find something to acknowledge. I also always tell them how smart they are! It’s such an easy thing to do. Imagine if all adults on campus did that? #Leadlap
A4: Always lead with AUTHENTIC praise. “Good job” “well done” will not suffice for the child who spent the weekend being belittled the entire weekend. Know the entire child and raise them up. #LeadLAP
A2: Our students are taught these soft skills in the classrooms by our trained teachers. We have a whole school PBL model where students have to problem solve, think critically and communicate on a regular basis. #LeadLAP
A4: We hosted a Be-YOU-tiful event for our 5th grade girls! We focused on inner beauty, self image, friendships, & table etiquette! It was an empowering experience for our sweet girls! #LeadLAP
A3: So many of my Ss have found the power of writing and I am so blessed and thankful! They will tell me guess what I did when ------- happened? I wrote about it! #leadlap
#LeadLAP A4. By the time they hit middle school most of my kids in tier 2 have shut down. It takes one day at a time and lots of growth mindset exercises to get them to realize they all have special talents.
A3. A cultural "tool" is critical: Creating classrooms that embrace risk-taking, recognizing we all make mistakes. Emotional distress often occurs when we lose confidence, feel we have failed. Thus, when we teach S to support each other, the support becomes a class habit.#LeadLAP
A4: We work with them on building their strengths rather than focusing on their deficits, on strengthening their weaknesses rather than being controlled by them. It's a huge #growthmindset shift to unlock fixed thoughts about ourselves. #leadlap
A4: We hosted a Be-YOU-tiful event for our 5th grade girls! We focused on inner beauty, self image, friendships, & table etiquette! It was an empowering experience for our sweet girls! #LeadLAP
A4 So important. I like to give them opportunities to create avatars, describe themselves, have others describe them. Support positive comments. #Leadlap
A5: I remind teachers fairly regularly that it is difficult to fill the cups of others if theirs is empty. We have some fun stuff planned this week! #LeadLAP
Thanks, Natasha. I recycled the foam board from my son's AP English 4 project. Wonder if your Ss could make one and what strategies they'd put on there for each other? #leadlap
#LeadLAP I must jump off early. I have really enjoyed learning from you all this morning! #onesmallthing, please help my school win a contest by "Liking" the video on this twitter post: https://t.co/UHzxIMoFAN
The most likes on that exact twitter post (not this one) wins!
A5: I think that one of the best health benefits is to laugh and have fun with what you are doing. I try to bring this attitude with me each day to my staff and students. #LeadLap#JoyfulLeaders
A5: Ts need a listening ear too, support their endeavors, give encouragement, and model what I preach. You be you and be YOUR best, not someone else's best. #LeadLAP
Let’s connect and share titles! I’m sure there are lots I don’t have yet. I can share the google doc we have set up that include the activities we do after each read aloud if you are interested. #LEADlap
Thanks #leadlap for the great chat, I have to cut it short today. Lots of JH and HS Basketball to go watch around my division. Another way to build relationships #timeandattention Have a great weekend everyone and thanks @APKRentz for moderating today and the rest of the team.
A4: By highlighting unique qualities of Ss & sharing why those qualities are so special. Sometimes our Ss have never heard or are starved from those positive affirmations from adults #LeadLAP
A5: #Mindfulness is super important for us, especially at this hectic time of year. Secret Santa helps b/c it's fun and playful! Here are some other suggestions for wellBEing: https://t.co/EiyvAxXlos#leadlap
RTQ5: How do you promote teacher wellness in your schools? #LeadLAP
A former principal brought veggie trays instead of donuts for treats.
HR tells us, you need to take care of yourself so you can care for students.
Posted Employee Assistance Program flyers in bathrooms, etc.
A5 1st & foremost by modeling. I constantly remind & encourage staff to take care of selves first and try to be balanced. I try to show appreciation every chance I have in a variety of ways. Excited for a week of surprises this week #LeadLAP
Morning-sorry for jumping on so late! A5 I realized over the past couple of evenings w/colleagues that simply hanging out, talking to each other, & laughing is essential for building a healthy culture #leadlap
A5: We’ve established the House System at our school! It allows Ts to connect & build relationships w/ others beyond their grade level! We do outings & activities together that are good mind, body, & heart! #LeadLAP
A2: Class meetings. Every day. They are an amazing way to build community, teach SEL and model how to problem solve on-the-spot/current situations that emerge daily. #LeadLAP
A5: Mental wellness cannot be stressed enough. When we release the notion of trying to be everything to everyone and focus on self-care, only then will we truly be able to achieve the impact with kids we so desire. #LeadLAP
A5 1st & foremost by modeling. I constantly remind & encourage staff to take care of selves first and try to be balanced. I try to show appreciation every chance I have in a variety of ways. Excited for a week of surprises this week #LeadLAP
A4: Help them find their tribe! Provide lots of opportunities for them to "taste all wonderful and varied chocolates in the box" Finding one's passion is edifying in so many ways #leadlap
A5 I spend time with my family and our dogs as much as I can. I also need my sleep and coffee. My students have been known to tell me I need another cup of coffee. They're real. ;) #leadlap
A critical strategy is sharing REAL examples of how individuals overcome depression, incredible challenges, & emotional difficulties. Examples: MLK & overcoming hate with love, Lincoln overcoming depression, the women today involved in the #MeToo movement, & @rosaparks#LeadLAP
A5: Be #mindful w/ other colleagues & model #mindfulness in the classroom. Each morning I kick off the day w/ my #Kinder Ss w/ 10 mins of meditation & yoga followed by a roundtable check-in discussing our feelings. Emphasising #SEL 's connection to well-being. #leadlap
A6: In every conversation we have with parents, I try to make sure to ask if there is anything I can do to support them with their child. Good question! #LeadLAP
A5: We started a teacher wellness PD once a month. They have an hour for whatever they want. Go for a walk/run, go to a local coffee shop, read for pleasure, etc. I can “approve” just about anything they want to do! #leadlap
A6:Districts need to create systemic structures to support Ps. We have full time Parent Liaisons at every school. They are a bridge to other services #leadlap
A6: Suggesting strategies for feelings management will help Ps focus on well-being for themselves and their children. Replacement behaviors can be key to healthy choices. https://t.co/NYA8ZFhMC5#leadlap
A6 Have that open line of communication with families. Be willing to listen and just listen if needed. Talk to your counselor to see what options are there for them if needed. Parents want you to care for their child. #leadlap
A6: Communicate Communicate Communicate! Share Share Share! Listen Listen Listen! Let parents be involved in any extent that they can or want to be! #LeadLAP
A4: I give notes of appreciation & treats to my Ts. Also, Ts need some fun, so we do a collaborative fun activity at the beginning of each staff meeting. Pre-heat the grill as @burgessdave would say! #LeadLAP
A6: Constant communication with parents and creating opportunities for them to become involved will help alter the negative rhetoric they may associate with schools. Lead with an open heart and mind knowing families are doing the best they can! #LeadLAP
A6: Just yesterday I just sat with a parent and let them tell me their struggles. It wasn’t an advice giving situation. Just a validation that it’s hard and I’m here to listen. #leadlap
RTQ6: How can you assist parents with mental wellness to ensure student success?#leadLAP
Assign less homework! Thank parents for all they do for their children.
I wonder if a https://t.co/uvdzH8fYHp could help with mental wellness.
I'm going to share this with my 6th grade Ts. There seems to be so much on-going conflict among peers. An activity like this could show us exactly what they need #LeadLAP
A4. In classrooms we must celebrate diversity and the differences that contribute to each self-image. These values, our indigenous native culture, and the culture of the immigrants who have joined the nation for over two hundred years must be celebrated. #LeadLAP
A1: our school has a dedicated freshman seminar class that teaches social and emotional skills in a collaborative and engaging way. We then support and extend those lessons through a 4yr advisory. #leadlap
A6: Keep an open line of communication between home & school. Call home for the good, invite Ps in, & seek our ways to work together! Ask ?s to get feedback of needs! #LeadLAP
A6 Learning from my kids' preschool Ts who value the power in play more than anyone I know, I think encouraging Ps to make time to embrace play & creativity w/their kids goes a long way #LeadLAP
A6: we make Positive Phone Calls Home & send positive postcards home as well. We thank them for sending us their amazing kids & tell them what a great job they are doing with them. #LEADlap
A1: In addition our teachers share some common language holt through advisory we can refer to in core classes- we also have a strong student voice and leadership piece- our JRs & SRs hell teach the freshman advisory lessons. #leadlap
A6- support them in anyway you can. Make positive calls home. If you have to make the negative ones make sure you helpncome up with a solution to the problem and not just complain about it. #leadlap
A7: Some days the only way I can remain/project positivity is to go find someone who's upbeat encouragement can restore me. And chocolate with a Coke Zero, put feet up on desk, close eyes, and breathe for a minute helps too. #LeadLAP
A5: I SO appreciate my school librarian put in a hot cocoa bar in her office for the two weeks before winter break. She invited teachers to come in during their planning or anytime for a cup. She has toppings and cookies too! Yum! #leadLAP
A6 The biggest thing is simply being present in talking w/ them and offering them every bit of support we can. As we work to be a true community school this has been a huge shift for us this year #LeadLAP
A7: You cannot fill the cup of others if your cup is empty. Each of us has to make sure that we are doing things that fill our cups so that we can be at our best for our students. For me: gym time, refereeing basketball, fishing, time with family. #LeadLAP
A7: A major part of our job is to model for others. We have to remain positive and help our students see that things will continue to improve. You acknowledge that things are difficult and help them push forward #LeadLap
A5. Leaders must, thru presonal example, promote wellness. Leaders must visit the schools of their own children when they r in school plays, choral events, sporting events, etc. And leaders should substitute 4 T so they can visit other schools to see their kids in action.#LeadLAP
A7 DOCUMENT! Notes, charts, etc. can help you SEE the progress if you lose sight. A crazy day in Sept. is just a Tuesday is November. We get used to the struggle. #data#LeadLAP
A7 Feeding off their resiliency and relationship I have with them. It’s a whole lot harder to be negative or dislike someone you actually know and invest in #LeadLAP
A7: Compassion fatigue is real. I have found it is critical to understand our limits and when to refer and how to connect needy students to quality resources. I can not do it all. I also focus on the highlights of student supports to keep my bucket full. #LeadLAP
A5- be understanding that emergency situations come up. Understand they have a family of their own. Give them the support and resources they need to get them job done. #leadlap
A7 DOCUMENT! Notes, charts, etc. can help you SEE the progress if you lose sight. A crazy day in Sept. is just a Tuesday in November. We get used to the struggle. #data#LeadLAP
A1: In addition our teachers share some common language through advisory we can refer to in core classes- we also have a strong student voice and leadership piece- our JRs & SRs hell teach the freshman advisory lessons. #leadlap
A7: Honestly, if I needed a pick me up, I’d scrap the day’s lesson plan and devote our day to creating art using a variety of mediums and connecting it with what I’d initially planned. The kids and I both benefited. #LeadLAP
A5. Encouraging teachers to be lifetime learners, joining PLNs, sharing books, aggressively promoting professional development, social interaction, and exercise programs are important ways of indicating: We value growth, we value wellness. #LeadLAP
I am a YES person at school but try really hard not to take much home often. During the week, school stays at school. Weekends are precious and I only access work about 1x a month on weekends too. It works for me. #leadlap
A7 I stay connected w/amazing leaders who bring it every day even when it's hard & now trying more than ever to spread their positivity in our building-@burgessdave@JayBilly2 & @BethHouf gave out of this world passion pep talks for the Ts/admin I work with #leadlap
RTQ7: Helping students through their struggles can take its toll. How do you ensure you stay positive? #LeadLAP
Journaling helps me reflect and focus on what went well. Celebrate small victories!
A7: Compassion fatigue is real. I have found it is critical to understand our limits and when to refer and how to connect needy students to quality resources. I can not do it all. I also focus on the highlights of student supports to keep my bucket full. #LeadLAP
A2: 🏗Building relationships with & amongst Ss is one of the most impt things we can do to in turn build our classroom and school climate. As @PeterMDeWitt stated "School climate is actually the plate that everything else has to go on." #LeadLAP
A8: Having a Ss in gr 9 tell me he was going to drop out. By the time I had him 4 years later in Gr 12 he was applying for college. Lots of important convos with him. #bestjobintheworld#LeadLAP
A8: Because I am back in the area I taught for six years, I see former students regularly. They are hard-working folks doing a great job of raising their children. Reward enough for me. #LeadLAP
A8: Some years back, I got to right a wrong, to make a LONG overdue apology to a student from 20 years earlier, at Homecoming, on the 50 yard line. Such a growing experience! https://t.co/uEUidwmMRH#leadlap
A6: Communicate with families about positive things happening with their children at school & keep asking for feedback and suggestions as often as possible. #LeadLAP
A5. Thru personal example teachers need to see how important family and friendships are, to create and shape a culture that values relationships. If leaders are not well, then folks see unhealthy, toxic behaviors which hurt the culture. #LeadLAP
A8: In my first administrative position, I was part of a team that really built back trust in the school and doubled enrollment while building a vibrant HS program. #leadlap
RTQ8: Share a success story from your teaching career. #LeadLAP
My favorite success has been from implementing Number Talks. https://t.co/Ple90bo8rp
It's great to see students struggle and see the lightbulbs go off.
We celebrate mistakes as well, which is awesome.
Sorry my friends, but not a great signal in the wrestling gym this morning! Missed some of the awesome but will dig back into all your great ideas soon! Keep sharing your #leadlap ideas all week long!
A7: when I feel depleted I go to my gratitude journal. I play my flute. I pray. I sing. I look at my grandson and he reminds me that life is wonderful and joy is all around us. It's not all about me #leadlap
Join me on Sunday morning at 8:30 - 9:00 AM ET for #LeadLAPMass - The Book Study -as we discuss Going for Greatness and Pirate Leadership #LeadLAP#tlap#LearnLAP
A8: When Ss come back or reach out after graduation to tell me that ___ helped them in college or that ___was their fav class or they miss it...#DayMaker#LeadLAP
A8: Anytime that I can make a student laugh, smile, or feel better about themselves and welcome in the school is what I consider to be a success story. #LeadLap
