Phil Strunk from Northern Virginia! I teach middle school US History II. Favorite old cartoon.... Probably the five minute Star Wars cartoon clips that came out on Cartoon Network before Episode 3 came out. #fearlessedchat
Anna from Northern VA here! I teach Pre-Algebra 6 and Math 6/7. If I have to pick just one favorite cartoon I think I’ll go with Rugrats! #fearlessedchat
Intro: Michael A. Splitting headache. Still at school. Tech Week for Drama. Thankful for @Stuczynski_ELA and @JamesHeniff hanging out late tonight mastering the new lighting effects for tomorrow's show. #fearlessedchat
Favorite Nick-toon. Not a toon at all, but how about this? "You Can't Do That on Television!" Just look it up on YouTube after #fearlessedchat. You will not be disappointed. Trust me.

A1: Find a higher purpose. Love being in the classroom, but I feel like I'm meant for more. Keep my aim high - we tell the kids all the time that they can do anything, why not us, too? #fearlessedchat
Year 13 this year. I will keep doing what I am doing for yr 20. Never stop learning, be thankful daily, and try new things to change it up! #fearlessedchat
A1. Growing in my role as an educator. My long term goal is to become a curriculum director so that I can help ensure high quality, conceptual learning for kiddos. I’m working on my doctorate now to start progress towards that goal. #fearlessedchat
A1 game plan is to keep learning new things for my Ss. Keep getting better, keep learning I teach the same subject but it is so drastically different than when i started #fearlessedchat
A1: Kinda already answered this one, but #fearlessedchat is a place to come back to center in the week. So many times I have been drowning and my "friends" have pulled me into their boats. Thank you all. Can't say it enough. Thank you.
A1: Continue learning, and finding new ways to engage students. If I am having fun learning and teaching, so are the kids. Enthusiasm is contagious. #fearlessedchat

Yes! Gotta love what you are doing. Pessimism and distress is also contagious. Finding that out the hard way in other areas of my life outside of school. #fearlessedchat
A2: I am team leader this year. I hope the role I take on is one of an encourager. I want my colleagues and my students to know how amazing I think they are! #fearlessedchat@ERobbPrincipal@KGT_Educator
A2: In my classroom, I tend to take a backseat to the action. Let the kids run the show. In the building, it's the opposite - usually taking on multiple projects at once. #fearlessedchat
A1: At about the 15 year mark I started working more in the area of special education. That opened a whole new world and a whole new passion for education and learning #fearlessedchat
Lol I tend to call myself the hippy care bear. But I am firm too and organized. I just know it will always work out and that I am not in it alone. I have a team at my school, home, and here #fearlessedchat
Q2. Hmmm...I think I’m a cross between the go-to and the quiet/brainy one. My colleagues come to me to talk, to help with tech, and to share ideas. #fearlessedchat
A2: I would say that all of them. You are the reliable friend, but sometimes tough on the outside. Quiet confidant and know it all. Goofy and serious. Lately I've been thinking teaching is mostly performance art #fearlessedchat

A2: I think I am a bit of a combo...I enjoy being the quiet genius...but I will also step up when needed...I just realized I called myself a genius...I'm so modest :-)
#fearlessedchat
A1: Tough cookie... I just decided I can't handle the behavior problems in class, so I'm trying to switch to coordinating and curriculum development. Hopefully using @PlayCraftLearn#minecraftedu#fearlessedchat
I tell my grade level this and they laugh bc I am different, always will be and I would not have it another way. But they accept each person and we cover each others weaknesses #fearlessedchat
A3: Promote exploration by providing lots of hands-on experiences w/ little direction. When we have trouble, I do my best to guide them through w/out giving answers. #fearlessedchat
A3: Working here in the Lab for @SmartLab_tweets, we are all about exploration. Constantly asking students to re-evaluate, question, reflect, tweak, and try again. We cannot be sidelined and sandbagged by snags. There is a way over the hill. #fearlessedchat
Q3. I don’t teach algorithms. My kids dive into problems and figure things out through exploration. I question a lot. What do we know? What does this remind you of? What patterns/relationships do you see? #fearlessedchat
a3: Providing opportunities for inquiry, investigate phenomena, PBL (which is my main delivery). If something does not work, the only answer is "why do you think that happened?" or "What do you think you should do next?" #fearlessedchat
A4: Differentiation! For the Progressive Era students are doing "Progressive Era Football" they get to pick different activities worth different amounts of yards to show me they know their stuff and score an education touchdown! #fearlessedchat
A4 there should be tons of opportunities for Ss to show what they know. Formative assessment should be woven into every activity in a lesson #fearlessedchat
A4: We go on mastery quests. I literally say "Choose the best way you can think of to tell your story/prove your answer/address this problem", and re-dos are always welcome #fearlessedchat
A4, for real: I strongly believe that there is more to life than PowerPoints and papers. I would tell kids, "Show me what you learned, it does not matter how you do it." The freedom in that blew their minds. #fearlessedchat
Q4. I started checking tests and quizzes w/a highlighter and colored pen. I don’t mark things right/wrong. I just highlight parts of their work or ask questions. They have a week to look over those questions and respond/fix things before a grade is ever written. #fearlessedchat
Yes! This is awesome. We were in a workshop a couple months back where the teacher gamified her history class using old school board games. #fearlessedchat
