GOOD MORNING! @teresagross625 and I are rolling out the red carpet to welcome you this morning to #BookCampPD We are thrilled you're here to share with other educators. Please introduce yourself and let us know if your weather is "frightful" today. Photos are welcome!
Meredith joining from stormy SW Florida. We just had high winds and lots of rain that played havoc with my plants. They will have to wait until the chat is over to get fixed. #BookCampPD
Chris from Bloomington, IN. Teach world history for private online HS affiliated w/ Indiana University. We are getting flurries so not too bad here. Trying to multichat this morning so we'll see how it goes. #bookcamppd#nt2t
Good morning everyone! No snow here in Franklin County, KY but the weather is quiet frigid! I’m Stella, I teach 7th Grade Science and I am thrilled to be at #bookcamppd this morning.
AH! Haha. I have been reading Start with Why, Find your why is next and then I want to read Leaders Eat Last. :) How are you enjoying them? #bookcamppd
A1. #DitchBook because it helped me realize that I do not need to focus so much on the DOK 1. Let the students ask questions and research in their own ways. #bookcamppd
I started with find your why... able to make many connections, and really enjoying the audio book version ( my first series of audio books). I have only listened to podcasts or readable version of books before #BookCampPD
I also live Status if the Class - great way to get a sense of every student’s pacing and preferences while others get it her about books they might like. All while celebrating our reading! #bookcamppd
Q2. Lengthy question - I will post it twice. Saturday, December 30th we will highlight the books “Ditch that Textbook” and "Ditch that Homework". December 31st is the final day of a two week long free online conference @jmattmiller (author) is sponsoring. #BookCampPD
Q2 The “Ditch That Textbook” Digital Summit is a 9-day, FREE virtual event. It brings together some of the brightest minds in ed to discuss technology, pedagogy and more. It begins in FIVE days and, if interested, you can sign up here ---> https://t.co/jjfqluFv3m#BookCampPD
Q2 - HERE IS THE QUESTION - Are there aspects of this professional learning experience that are of interest to you? Is there something you wonder about and further information would help? #BookCampPD
A1)It is not easy for Ss to come up with their own creative ideas straightaway. In “Emptower” @spenceridas & @ajjuliani explains “6 stages of consuming” before anyone try to create from scratch (Passive, active ,critical, curating, copying modifying, mashups) #bookcampPD
Q2 - HERE IS THE QUESTION - Are there aspects of this professional learning experience that are of interest to you? Is there something you wonder about and further information would help? #BookCampPD
A2. The fact that @jmattmiller is giving us resources and so much time for free is absolutely one of the best gifts. Anytime I hear him speak or read his books, I always take things away to implement in my classroom. #bookcamppd
Q2 - If you missed any part of question 2, you might want to scroll back up and click on the image with the rocking chair to read the three parts. We are excited about @JmattMiller 's DitchSummit! #BookCampPD
A1: provide compelling text to ignite love for reading and learning! Learned it from Boosting Achievement by @MsSalvac and @AnnaTeachesELLs’ book #bookcamppd

A1: John Hattie’s Visible Learning...the only thing we need in education...everything else should be used based off of this!!!
We’re not joking....no really, this is THE ED BOOK 📚

I fell in love with @audible years ago and now a majority of my commutes are filled with either podcasts or books. Hardly ever music (unless husband is in the car.. He thinks my books/pods are boring!) #bookcamppd
I just finished a book called: "Little Soldiers" by @LenoraChu. The book describes the differences between the US and Chinese education systems. It brought about nostalgia for me because I grew up in #HongKong and went to #HigherEd here in the US. #bookcamppd
I think they went well being my first time. The prizes were engaging. The fact that I got snacks and coffee donated was awesome too. Need to get better. #bookcamppd
A2 I am really big in independent, online learning. Webinars, twitter chats, and building your PLN. At the end of the day, they are my accountability to be better and encouragers. #bookcamppd
Q3. What book are you looking forward to reading? Is there a special book you would LOVE for someone to give you as a gift in the days ahead? #BookCampPD
Agree w/ this. I participate in some EdWeb webinars that are relevant to me. Also @facinghistory has some amazing webinars & PD courses for Ts. #bookcamppd

A1 Catching up: I love #Teachermyth by Aaron Hogan. We have to disregard the myth that we’re in this world by ourselves. Reach out to support all students. #BookCampPD
A3) My to read list is sooooo long (literally 3 pages single spaced on a GDoc). I really want to read Stamped from the Beginning by Ibram X. Kendi. #bookcamppd
I was checking out the list of presenters who will join the #DitchSummit - WOW! What a tremendous learning experience. I hope you will share about it during #BookCampPD at the end of the month when we highlight the books?
Thanks so much for coming! Next Saturday, December 16th at 9:00 AM EST will be your chance to shine the spot light on what you're doing in your classroom, school or District. See you then! #BookCampPD
