Yes ... an A in Class A based on a lot of participation and a box of tissues is not as valuable as a B in Class B based on mastery of standards #HCPSTeach
A3 I have 2 categories - mastery and classwork/homework. I usually supply answers so I check for understanding. Behavior/ Partici./ effort are expectations not grades #hcpsteach
So true! The old “every gets a trophy for breathing” method?! 😳 told my students I can’t lose weight watching athletes work out ... can’t learn watching or getting free grades #HCPSTeach

Most of mine do ... but now I worry less ... no W on game day if you haven’t practiced - some showed mastery without practice ... on 1 assessment #HCPSTeach

Ability to retest on a topic once per quarter. Higher grade counts 2/3 with lower grade 1/3 for composite grade. I also drop their lowest quiz score every 9 weeks b/c everyone has a bad quiz day at some point. #hcpsteach
A5 All of the above! I am picky on projects though-every adult has deadlines that they have to meet. HS ss need to have that accountability. #hcpsteach
I agree for projects ... learning, however, I think can happen slower for some ... so retakes are valuable ... will agree that ENG & Math are diff - cyclical vs linear #HCPSTeach
I wish someone had told me my first year that “you don’t have to touch every piece of paper that they do” I drove myself crazy that 1st year! #HCPSTeach
