Love having you here and couldn’t agree more… This topic is super close to my heart. Glad to have you here and I hope you enjoy the #XPLAP community tonight.
No chat for me tonight. I’m experiencing joy by enjoying my family on a Spring Break adventure. Children’s museum today and the Omaha zoo tomorrow. #xplap
I agree Michael. Your book is one I've been carrying around alot the last two weeks-I plan on spotlighting it and all of its jewels very soon! #JoyfulReads#XPLAP

A1: Creating fantastic worlds with legos, the sandbox, and playing games as a kid… I loved the fun moments they all produced. I have started to build into my life the board game part now as an adult. One of the Best choices I have made. #XPLAP
a1) pretty much playing sports and video games. Working on getting the kid to enjoy video games so I can do it more, got him to play the Wii with me the other day. #xplap
A1: Spending time with my grandmother in NYC every weekend brought me joy as a child - the ability to explore, spend time with family, eat delicious food #xplap
Love it #XPLAP. Thanks for coming tonight. I really do love this topic and I am really excited to have this chat with you guys. It is the tag line to my Youtube channel…
A1 best way to reconnect is to become like a little child, every Thursday I take my own students out for our own Phyysical Education and I play! #playlap#XPLAP
Have a two hour delay due to snow so I can stay up a little later tonight. My name is Luis and I’m a HS ELL/Spanish teacher, tech coach, and Director from RI. #xplap
A1 Playing soccer with my friends during recess. Especially when I got that brand new ball from the United States. Instant hero on the playground in Portugal. #xplap
Yeah! @MrsLedford6Eng is here. Hey I just want you to know I put a quote from you in my presentation this last week. It was from your #wellplayed episode. Thanks for all you do to help out classrooms everywhere. #XPLAP
A1 Childhood Joy: Growing up in New York-the city sounds, seeing Broadway Play,,,,visiting the culture of Harlem...playing license plate game w/ my parents...still a #Joy-visiting cities and showing my beautiful son the ❤️of our beautiful country. #XPLAP
A1: Always being outside and exploring. Good company mixed of family and friends. Lots of laughter and creation. I totally live this through the project based and kinesthetic assignments I create for my students. #XPLAP
A1: Coming late tonight and might not be able to stay most of the time. Busy library today! I had joy from games, books, hugs and food! Nothing has changed. #xplap
A1: Creating fantastic worlds with legos, the sandbox, and playing games as a kid… I loved the fun moments they all produced. I have started to build into my life the board game part now as an adult. One of the Best choices I have made. #XPLAP
A1: reading, imaginary friends, swimming, bike riding, drawing, games (board and video or computer); now I still read, draw, ride my bike, play games, and replaced swimming with running. No imaginary friends, but I do talk to myself 🤣 Creating makes me joyful #xplap
Yes, I was telling my daughter the other day that I would play pretend by myself or my sister because there were no cell phones or iPads when I was little - okay, I am dating myself #xplap
My older brothers would play WWF wrestling with me, choosing a persona and retreating to separate corners of our kitchen. I LOVED getting “body slammed” and would giggle hilariously. The things they did to bring me joy. ❤️ #xplap
A2: My creativeness and willingness to try new things! If I don’t know I tell my Ss that and we figure it out together! I have a short attention span (like my Ss) so we are always doing different activities! #xplap
Q2: I wouldn’t say it’s always been natural but it certainly as become my character trait...random moments of infused idea inspiration and a jump in fearlessness. #XPLAP
A2 - I like to help. I love to teach. And I love to inspire to be better. If I can leave this world a slightly better than I found it, then I can go in peace. #XPLAP
Love is... games with family. We used to play Duke Nukem on a network of computers we built with my dad in the basement pre-internet! Some of best memories #xplap

A2: Love these joyful & reflective questions: Yes...what character traits bubble in me: joy and fearlessness...I'm fearless about inspiring any group I'm in front of to see how amazing they and find their joy! #XPLAP
A2: “Giver”- I’m constantly for ways to support & uplift others! I like working on tasks that help a cause! I give of my time, energy, & responses for the good of the cause! I get such joy from helping others! #XPLAP
Being entertaining and nothing is better than putting a smile on students faces and laughing. Some students at school their their only place they will smile and for the day #xplap
A2: My creativity drives me! I adore creating worlds and experiences for my students! My creativity pot is always bubbling over and I love it that way!
#xplap
A2: I’ve always been driven and willing to try new things, and I love to laugh (which is good because sometimes we just need to laugh at ourselves and situations we find ourselves in). #xplap
A2 I just love to fix things. Any time something breaks I light up like a little kid b/c I get to try to fix it. I'm also that way when someone asks for help with a tech issue. #xplap
Love the answer of curiosity… I see this is your Youtube channel and your podcasts, and our discussions. Keep seeking the light, and using tools to shed light on other dark spots. You da man! #XPLAP
A2: I love being a risk-taker. I encourage my Ss to try new things and I love trying new things in the classroom. We will learn from our mistakes TOGETHER #XPLAP
A3: Remind myself to let go of negative thoughts and insecurities - The struggle is a part of life and build meaning & is a compass for my purpose #xplap
A3: complete honesty, I hold way too much self doubt. It doesn’t keep me from trying new things or putting myself out there, but lightening up on myself would definitely increase my joy #xplap
A3 I need to let go on stop focusing on some of the negativity and bad attitudes of my Ss that at times can bring me down and its not fair to the rest of the Ss #xplap
✨A1: As a child, I loved playing games, using my imagination, and creating things. I still love to do the same things which is why being an educator is the best "job" in the world! I love using #Sketchnotes, #EduGIFs, #BookSnaps, and #XPLAP#GBL.✨
A3: no matter how much I share and create fear always lingers, whispers and lies. I can let go of it and it’s ability to make me think twice or doubt myself #XPLAP
A3: I need to stop worrying about things beyond my control and taking on emotions of others. Highly sensitive personality can be exhausting sometimes #xplap
A3: Such a beautiful question. It's easy for me: I mindfully practice "yes" to thing, people, books & experiences that cultivate my #joy and say "no" to anything else. #XPLAP

A4: Helping others get started with gamification! But seriously, sharing with other teachers to support them and help everyone see success with Ss is crucial to surviving as a teaching community! #XPLAP
A4 Give what we can to our Ss to help change their world or at least make it better for the time we have with them. Go above and beyond to make lessons they do not want to miss #xplap
A4: Any time we see a need especially when it's a need that can be filled not by things but by relationship. Finding ways to meet people where they are with what they need. Not impossible-you just have to pay attention :) #xplap
“Investing in yourself is the most important investment you’ll ever make in your life . . .There’s no financial investment that’ll ever match it, because if you develop more skill, more ability, more insight, more capacity," -- @TonyRobbins#xplap
A4: Striving to be CONSISTENT and approachable on a daily basis for Ss to come to. From the simple “good mornings!”, to the fist bumps/silly handshakes, to having an open door for the serious talks. Be kind, caring and generous to everyone! #XPLAP
A4: Any time we see a need especially when it's a need that can be filled not by things but by relationship. Finding ways to meet people where they are with what they need. Not impossible-you just have to pay attention :) #xplap
A4: Just open your door and invite conversations! Ive started to invite different students in for lunch and a book club and conversations! I always invite students that I don’t see hanging out together all day in the halls #XPLAP
A4: I think sometimes it is the little things that hold a relationship together… I want to try to do more of the little… Buy a coffee for a co-worker, write a nice note, and celebrate their successes! #XPLAP
I practice Loving Kindness 10 Sec Exercise: Identify two people in the room and just wish for this person to be happy, and wish for that person to be happy. Don’t say anything, just think. From Chade-Meng Tan #xplap
A4 #XPLAP - the most valuable thing I have to give is time & for my S it's the #1 thing they want - quality time with an adult who cares enough to listen!

A5: I call it my "Zen Practice." More than a hobby. It rejuvenates & brings joy. For me, it's writing. I get LOST when the words flow. Especially poetry! #xplap
A4: Again. love these questions: #Gratitude: Gratitude emails, thank you notes, acts of appreciation, taking mindful moments to just listen with your ❤️to people; also compliment people; magnify their strengths-it's a bridge to #joy#XPLAP
A5: To be honest, I’ve been the happiest in my library the last couple of months than I ever have! I hosted our 1st #makerfaire and my Ss blew me away with their creative projects and the excitement they showed for the event! #xplap
A5: I love to create, this is somewhat new for me… I have reflected that over the last few months, I have truly switched from being a consumer to being a creator… Such a greater thrill in creation… #XPLAP
A5: Family, Exercise, Reading, Friends. I also feed off of the joy shared with my PLN. The energy oozes out of Twitter chats, it does often bring joy #xplap

A5 Being around positive people or being "out and about" brings me joy. Sometimes both. I find positivity here, but also in my martial arts classes and family. #xplap
A5: Anything that challenges me or makes me think. (Currently learning the uke). Getting outside and exploring the world and new places. ⛺️ Reading for leisure. 📚 #xplap
A5: Singing. Making music with others! There's so much JOY to be had in being surrounded by and contributing to beautiful sounds that are part of you and in you. #XPLAP
Just followed @thezenteacher and saw “peaceful, tranquil classroom”! He might not want to follow me! My classroom usually looks like I’m loosing a game of Jumanji! Isn’t that right @workjimman#xplap
A5 Moments spent with my son when we disconnect from tech and go into the woods during scouting activities, when Lucy greats me when I come home and she just wants a belly rub, spending time with @SrtaLyon. #xplap
Something that has helped me slow down and find the joy with my daughter has been @HeckAwesome#IDEAFlood activities that I do with my daughter. She loves watching their family and then doing the drawings together. We haven’t missed 1. Check it out: https://t.co/H0f35YXdbg#XPLAP
A5: The perk and the problem— hiking, art-ing, fixing, making, swimming, dancing, driving, cooking, camping, fishing, gaming, and the list goes on. #xplap
#xplap Not sure which question this might apply to since I was late, but re: Joy, I say "start small & start w/the person beside you." You don't have to solve World Hunger.
Javier, goals are great… So is action. Make sure you take steps toward those goals. We here at #XPLAP are here to help. Let us know what we can do to help you out.

A6: I take time to focus on the joy each day… I try to breath through the frustrations and then refocus on the good. It is amazing that you don’t have to follow each thought that pops up. Bad thoughts don’t drive my mind… I focus on the good ones and let them lead me. #XPLAP
A6 - sounds counterintuitive (as well) but being able to find peace in the midst of the chaos - I need to use that skill more often. But when I can - it's awesome #xplap

A6 One of the teachers in my mindfulness class talked about silently wishing others joy. Sending good thoughts to others always helps me remember to feel joy and appreciate the good. #xplap
a6) I eat a lot of candy, also I've started trying to get out of my kids bedroom by 8:30 so that I can exercise, had a goal of leaving school by 4:45 to spend more at home (but have failed that regularly) #xplap
A6: My 1st hour is absolutely awesome! I practice joy by greeting them at the door with a compliment and making them smile before they can enter the classroom. Their enthusiasm is contagious and joyous! #XPLAP

A6: Actually, thanks to advice from @thezenteacher on a Voxer book study I now put "me time" on the calendar for all the family to see! This has really helped me make way for that time! #xplap

Thanks much! Truly, I work really hard at all this and it has paid off.. You can find joy everywhere, when you start to look for it… We all need to slow down… #XPLAP
A6 My joy comes from the connections with my students. It sounds a bit cheesy but it might explain why 22 years into my career I still enjoy what I do. #xplap

This is huge! I keep a yellow sunshine binder (and a corresponding yellow folder in my inbox) for student “sunshines.” These are great reminders on really bad days. #xplap
A7: Love the ideas of showing up in your own life… Anything in life that is worth anything is worth fighting for… I CHOOSE JOY!!! I don’t let the haters and the naysayers get me down. Thank you to my #PLN here on #XPLAP and my channel for helping to focus on joy!
A7 With a national conference standing between me and spring break I’m guaranteed a joyful time at #SHAPENashville but my goodness, when that’s over and I get to spend a week with my family?? I’m bottling that joy to take me through to the end of the school year! #xplap
Wow!! I missed out on a great chat. I find you by following my personal hashtag . . . #JustBeYou. It's been on my screen saver for two years. A constant reminder that we need to embrace who we are uniquely meant to be. #XPLAP (Awesome topic, @mrmatera)
A7: look for the positive, acknowledge what frustrates you, but don’t dwell on it. Don’t try to change others, you can only control how you act/react, so #ChooseKindness. Smile, build relationships (drink a Diet Coke 😬) #XPLAP
Once again, I would sincerely like to invite all of you to join in the conversation by heading over to my https://t.co/SB0FREshu7 channel and subscribing, watching, and joining in by commenting. Thank you all in #XPLAP for helping me be the best I can be!
Oh my goodness! Every week I tell myself I'm going to jump into #xplap's chat, and every week I remember too late! I may have to start with #xplapcamp instead, until I can get this schedule in my head. Sweet topic tonight, btw.
Darn… I would have loved to have @MarilynEDU in this chat tonight… She always brightens my day with her thoughts and ideas on twitter. Next week I guess! :) #XPLAP
Have to take off, but so happy that I got to stop by here. Thanks to @mrmatera for hosting! Remember that Joy is a CHOICE. Be intentional. CHOOSE JOY! Take care. #xplap
