#digitaledchat is a global twitter chat that covers almost everything and anything to do with modern learning, educational technology and learning spaces. Contributors are often from all over the world and new participants are always welcome to take part!
Hi everyone, my name is Myles, its been two months since I've contributed to #DigitalEdChat. I've tried not to think about it and dealing with my feelings about it on a nine step program.
Yep completly. I've decided this year to be a corporate stooge and do everything for the money. Every mention of #digitaledchat will be a bill, fifty cents a time, which I'll send at the end of the year...
Hello #digitalEDchat - Iโm a newbie here tonight! Justine from Wollongong (NSW, Aust). Iโm head Teacher of early childhood in the Voc ed sector (for TAFE) but Iโm here representing myself
A1: to increase integration of ed tech tools into our class-based sessions (f2f). My pet project at the mo is my Virtual Guest Expert Program #digitalEDchat
It's amazing the difference in access across schools. Really brings to mind issues of equity but again gives opportunities to try new things #digitaledchat
Thanks, and details of the actual printer would be great as well. Just so we can have lots of research- not sure if they have be ordered or not? will have to speak to the people in charge #digitaledchat
A1 To create a 'real-time' digital portfolio for students, teachers and whanau to interact with daily/ regularly to replace our annual hard copies & lengthy report ( still some form of written)#digitaledchat
Ok... so, using Google Hangouts we video call local child care services and have conversations during class to get the opinions/ advice / ideas of the experts who are working to chat to our students in real time. Quick chats that donโt require much prep #digitaledchat
A2 looking forward to using tech for more personalisation. The pedagogy was there last year but the infrastructure let me down. Hoping to have better and more consistent usage this year #digitalEDchat
A2 Putting into practice the stuff that worked well last year eg google site to curate resources, @Seesaw (of course!) hammering digital citizenship #digitaledchat
A2: edtech that really puts the students at the centre in terms of creation, platforms that make my life easier and means less doubling up - at moment liking @Schoology#digitaledchat
A2 Welcome to utopia. Just make sure you purchase the management licence for each CB. They're worth it! If you need any help, ask. Aorere now has around 700.. #digitalEDchat
So true. In our school, we'll trial most things but increasibngly very few are pushed out to students or staff. Must have clear ed relevance. #digitalEDchat
A2 Like to try using edtech to link learners collaboratively within our 'hub' (3 single cell y5/6 classes) to 'flatten' our walls further. #digitalEDchat
A3 We had a great google calendar session for our TOD today. No more overview @Edk8R!!!!!! It's finally been scrapped. Wahoo! Everyone is on the calendar now and you can even book rooms as well. #digitaledchat
I think having shared ipads is harder to use separate google accounts plus too hard to edit docs for little ones. Shared chrome books will be the challenge #digitalEDchat
As expected with all these things ... there are some kids who have thrived by using @Flipgrid & others who rather share learning in other ways. All about purpose. #digitaledchat

I want to experiment with 3D printers and mathematically defined lines and surfaces to provide access to the visually impaired. Literally allow them to get a feel for the math :) #DigitalEDChat
A3 Well- personally if I don't know how to do something I will: 1. google it myself 2. ask someone 3. contact the PLN. It's more about how proactive you are in accessing digital PD and not always expecting the digital PD to come to you. #digitaledchat
Very little - so i don't have a good handle on how fine a structure I can actually print. Especially for things like electric field visualizations, accessibility is an issue. https://t.co/0zDUXdHziX#digitalEDchat
A3: Iโve got a great local team and Iโm on a couple of projects that give me access (and permission!) to try new things. These are our new standard OLED screens in our classrooms (Iโve added the webcam) #digitaledchat
A3 we are banking our qtss funds this year to get groups of teachers off class together to work on their personal learning goals and collaborate. Tech support will be a big part of this #digitalEDchat
I'd say it would work really, really well... as I was saying to Amy before there's three years of student 3D Printed projects here https://t.co/s92HuhkTQo#digitaledchat
I definitely think it could be. For me, I use it when I have a purpose for it. This student 'found her voice' using Flipgrid .. incredible https://t.co/wZSXGHHPS5#digitaledchat
A4: VERY READY, we have more collaborations starting this year, more tech and a planned makerspace. It's great to see things developing nicely. #digitaledchat
i asked my kids last week about Flipgrid ... suggestion from them: make it optional. I said sure! so what are the other options? We worked this out together:)

A4 .. i think that any school that says they definitely are ready is telling porkies as everything changes so fast.... you have to teach flexibility .. #digitaledchat

A4 Established 1:1 devices y3-8. Buying in Mark Treadwell to work with us throughout this year to facilitate developing practice. Ts keen to try new edtech. Need to set up sharing sessions. #digitalEDchat

That sounds good too. Weโre really working on personalising the professional learning of the staff. Their needs and levels of expertise vary greatly, as do their goals. Team approach should help with that. #digitaledchat
A4: hmmm... it varies. Weโve got everyone from innovators and early adopters to luddites! Generally the feeling is positive and more ppl are turning to tech to solve problems and find solutions to match new ways of thinking #digitaledchat
TEAM is everything. At the end of last year, I took around 20 support staff through the G Suite at their request. They didn't want to left behind! #digitalEDchat
I may take you up on that. One of the issues is the cost of multiple experimental prints just to find out what works, and what produces garbage. #digitaledchat
A5 - the WiFi/Networking crashing and not working... Another free site I've used for years suddenly locking down payment for material... #digitaledchat
Yeah, I've got a bit of work around the place, which develops 'voids' of material now out of date or the host site has started charging or shut down #digitaledchat
A5: seeing anything in a learning space decorated with sparkle box images and graphics. Oh, and the use of comic sands- I was also font shamed a few years ago... #thiswasme3yearsago#Shame#neveragain#digitaledchat
Yeah Im not familiar with it, but that the sort of thing I was complaining about, rather be upfront from the start with that sort of thing. #digitaledchat
A6 Be a proactive individual. Find out, explore, test, experiment, use, ask. Don't just sit back and wait for it to all be spoon fed to you. #digitaledchat
Oh yeah - such a killer! In fact, anything where they read the slides... PowerPoint, Prezi, HaikuDeck, etc *my inner voice: please stop reading; please stop reading* #digitaledchat
It lost its zing but itโs still there. I actually have a digital resume in prezi (a prez-ume ??!) which is easy to flick out rather than the real deal. But for teaching itโs still clunky #digitaledchat
