A2: lack of authentic relationships, content that isn't relevant to them, or not at their level (frustration), lack of support
A2 Two big problems, one as said, not allowing kids to work in their ZPD. Rigor does not mean TOO HARD!
Agreed. Every student deserves a unique educational experience. Every1should WANT to be at school.
A2: Also, if kids are living in communities that are failing them, it is hard to be motivated in school. Why would you?
Precisely! Kids' motivation can decrease from boredom (2 low) & frustration (2 high). https://t.co/535eYE2x1F

A3 as an administrator I support T's even when their efforts don't always work. You have to encourage or they T's won't try.
A3: have theme weeks at school, gives platform for Ts to express themselves and forces some to think outside the box
facilitating a climate of trust allows the freedom to take risks
Yes! Differentiation is all about finding that "sweet-spot" where learning can happen with JOY and enthusiasm.
A3 for those Unmotivated T's you set small goals that you want to challenge them to work towards. Then cheer them on!!!

A5: there is a root cause to all misbehavior. Misunderstanding, fear, fatigue, embarrassment, all examples.
YES!!! There are reasons. Our work should be to be proactive. I love the book Cooperative Discipline by Linda Albert.
A5 Usually signals they are disengaged. I want Ss so involved that they don't think about anything else https://t.co/umml2BVPea
Can't say that I have. My apologies. What's going on there?
A5 Must ID what keeps their attention...how to keep them engaged BEFORE you can teach Ss anything.
I know & that's wrong. Could be there a disconnect with engagement. Curriculum should be culturally responsive
Early year.focus ed on "discipline". Now, how to turn them on to the content...how to pull them in..takes care of behavior

We must believe in kids until they begin to believe in themselves! Love and support are major!
A2- How are is the lesson delivered? S centered lessons motivate much more than T centered lectures and paper-pushing lessons
"Scaffold students to lead" tells a great story. That is a GREAT goal.
A6 BE REAL! Kids know when you're full of it!
A6: I think my principal does a good job getting to know the Ss. He is present and when he's absent the kids know it!
A6. First thing admin can do it SUPPORT the teachers that know the needs of the kids.
Sts noticing when the principal is absent says a LOT. That is truly wonderful. Kudos to him.
