Hey, y'all! I'm Kasey Bell, former middle school teacher turned digital learning coach and author of #ShakeUpLearning#SuperExcited to be the guest moderator for #edugladiators this morning! (need more coffee! โ)
Welcome warriors!
We are excited to have @ShakeUpLearning help us evolve to Dynamic Learning!
But 1st...introductions!
Please share who you are & how you "gladiate" for students!
#EduGladiators
Are you new to twitter chats?
It's fun & easy to jump right in & share your thoughts or ask more Qs! Here's how...
Qs drop as Q1...Q2...& you answer A1...A2...

Paul from NJ here. I gladiate for students by learning continuously. Come join the party. Details below. If you canโt attend, please pass the word onto others. Register today. #EduGladiatorshttps://t.co/ZaotTWiqZI
A1: Dynamic Learning is all about breaking the bounds of traditional learning and going BEYOND what was previously possible. Below is my definition.
#edugladiators#ShakeUpLearning
A1: Tech is an easy way to add engagement to simple activities. Even if it starts at the substitution level, it's better than missing an opportunity to get S's involved. #shakeuplearning#EduGladiators
A1 Technology has helped me break down the four walls in our classroom by connecting with other classes around the ๐ and subject matter experts #EduGladiators
A1) Traditional learning is not a 'placeโ where young adults could shine. Technology makes it possible for them to shine, lead & grow. #EduGladiators
A1 It has allowed, contrary to the chatter, a more personal connection with the kids. Automation, personalized attention, sharing, and so much more. Allows kids to explore and try! #edugladiators
A1 gives our Ts access to new ideas, our Ss access to learning outside the walls of the school, anytime learning, instantaneous feedback, connectivity to do more thanks to efficiencies that allow it to happen #EduGladiators
A1: Tech has helped us enormously as a tool to broaden our horizons when learning. Particularly through blogging, face to face learning internationally with Skype. Plus our radio station has enabled us to connect with a worldwide audience #EduGladiators
A1 Technology is supplying one of the levers shifting focus of my practice with students to prioritize progress and growth over mastery. More here: https://t.co/EnGCgWnExp#edugladiators
This is significant for many reasons, but one that especially resonates with me is not relegating or limiting the experience of learning to one location. Learning can and does take place in many different venues - this is what we call life. #EduGladiators
Going BEYOND the walls is one of my favorite ways to use tech, and is part of my Dynamic Learning model. Such an important experience for s's! #edugladiators
A1. Tech can break down barriers of time and space meaning learning can happen anytime and anywhere. This creates an increased opportunity to learn outside of the traditional learning setting (brick and mortar) #edugladiators
A1: Ss are not limited to the confines of their walls, any longer. Tech allows them to reach and explore any part of the world in seconds and in places unimaginable to them! #EduGladiators
A1: in our SPED Department, Technology has been really helpful for Ss w/d. Assistive technology has been great for teachers and students. #edugladiators
A1 We went 1:1 last year it gave teachers a shot in the arm and engagement ramped up. Our building began to stretch more risk and differentiation continued to climb #edugladiators
A1 Thanks to Dynamic Learning schools and educators in general are more open to new ways to teach and oprn to learning themselves everyday. That is one of the reasons SchoolToolsTv thrives #EduGladiators
A1 It solved the problem of a disconnect, Ss can reach me w/questions, they can access resources when they need them, we connect globally and learn so much more #edugladiators
In reply to
@EduGladiators, @ShakeUpLearning, @PaulONeill1972, @D4Griffin3, @BrendanFetters, @mgrosstaylor, @Maverikedu12, @cskiles80, @SaneeBell, @mccoyderek
A1: One of my favorite things aboout technology is that it allows Ss to find the confidence to be part of virtual conversations among classmates. I love seeing an otherwise uninvolved student come alive with the use of technology. #edugladiators
A1 Tech helps us break the bounds of traditional learning by eliminating the barriers of place, space, task, and collaboration. Tech opens up additional opportunities for students to increase depth and breath to enrich their learning #edugladiators
A1 It has allowed, contrary to the chatter, a more personal connection with the kids. Automation, personalized attention, sharing, and so much more. Allows kids to explore and try! #edugladiators
Really solid point on substitution level. If your first attempts are simply to substitute, there shouldnโt be a stigma associated with that. Sure, it could just as easily be a worksheet, but if Ts are attempting, donโt stop the evolving process. #EduGladiators
A1 tech breaks the patter of "right here" "right now" learning as well as move from learn the stuff I want you to learn to learn what you want to learn #edugladiators
A1 I love that there are so many tools to choose from that help Ss to create, use their voice, build confidence, more authentic learning #edugladiators
Yes! #UDL with technology is a great place for SpEd S's. Since I taught SpEd for most of my teaching career, that's what got me into technology... finding ways to give my S's access to learning. #EduGladiators
A1 It has allowed, contrary to the chatter, a more personal connection with the kids. Automation, personalized attention, sharing, and so much more. Allows kids to explore and try! #edugladiators
A1: Technology has made education more collaborative, more public, more accessible to all learners. - - If used in the right way. ๐ฑ๐๐ฅ #edugladiators
A1. Tech can also improve access-when and where infrastructures for wireless connection are available. This can be a game changer in terms of improving access to quality instruction for students and quality professional development for educators...#edugladiators
A1) Traditional learning is not a 'placeโ where young adults could shine. Technology makes it possible for them to shine, lead & grow. #EduGladiators
A1 Tech has been a tremendous tool in the classroom. Most importantly, it has allowed for another avenue 4 feedback and communication w/students. It doesn't replace relationships, it enhances. I am fortunate to work w/ great tech ppl in my district like @ed_maltbie#edugladiators
A1 At its best technology can be used as a way to give Ss an opportunity to create, communicate, and give them an audience for their work. It can also connect educators, students, and thinkers in ways that a few years ago were not possible #edugladiators
How does technology do this? I find it invites & accelerates iteration: Try, gather feedback, & try again better -- or sometimes worse, on the way to better. #edugladiators
A1 Technology is supplying one of the levers shifting focus of my practice with students to prioritize progress and growth over mastery. More here: https://t.co/EnGCgWnExp#edugladiators
A1: I was so isolatored before I got connected. Twitter chats, webinars, video chats, Voxer, have all helped me grow as a learner and leader with educators from around the world. #EduGladiators
Talk about giving students a voice, I totally agree with you Sheldon! Tech is especially powerful for this particular group of students! #EduGladiators
I think the communication and collaboration element has been a game changer in recent years. it certainly helped us to gain our @britishcouncil International award last year #EduGladiators
Looking for some outstanding children's books to share as a gift ๐during this holiday season? Teachers who are "in the know" will be sharing titles during Sunday evening's #BookCampPD chat at 7:30 EST ๐ Hope to see you then. #LeadUpChat#EduGladiators
A2: The moment students get a comment, a shift has happened. My students suddenly cared much more about the quality of their work when they knew someone besides me was going to read it.
#edugladiators#shakeuplearning
This year tools like @CiL_Events have been superb for instant feedback for pupil learning so that they can can immediately develop their writing #EduGladiators
In reply to
@ShakeUpLearning, @GaryArmida, @ed_maltbie, @CiL_Events
A2: I ask them because they should have a say over their own publishing. Usually, if it is a project we've been working on for a while, they are excited for everyone to see! #EduGladiators
A1: This generation wants to create content, not just absorb it. As an admin I like pushing for Ts and Ss to use the chrome books at their disposal and various apps to try new things. Experimenting is a great thing! #edugladiators
A2: I encourage it, but the hesitation is usually because of compliance or fear of who might see it and get upset. #EduGladiators#shakeuplearning When admin is on board, it's usually easier to try something new without being afraid.
A1 Itโs made collaboration, creativity, and resilience practice feasible! With Collaboration Screens, students are understanding how much more professional their work can be with the revision process. https://t.co/WNTlOhA9qW#EduGladiators
A2 I have not explored this in the band class other than videos of concerts (copyright) But, my Media class shares podcast and video news regularly. All self produced at the middle school by kids. #edugladiators
A1. Me too! I am the T on staff who probably uses technology the least. Ss are somewhat shocked at first, but that does not mean my lessons are boring. My lessons are crazy fun and literacy development can still be happen without all the bells and whistles. #EduGladiators

A2: Our students publish for the world on their class blogs. 70,000 views internationally in the past 3 years, which has created confident writers who know their writing is valued. #EduGladiators
A2: publishing work to a larger more authentic audience raises the bar for Ss. It becomes meaningful & relevant. Their level of work also improves. #EduGladiators
Demetrius I can relate! Even though as a leader I was spinning many plates, I dropped the most important one - my continued self development. Being a connected educator has helps me evolve & become a better person and multi dimensional leader! #EduGladiators
A2 I certainly don't prevent or forbid students publishing their work to the world. I just don't yet encourage, enable or facilitate that publication effectively, consistently. One outlet gathering modicum of traction is this hashtag: #deartitlehere#edugladiators
A2. We must capitalize on giving students the opportunity to publish for the world. Itโs a courageous act because you have to be ready for criticism but it also puts you in a position to get internally clear about your stance on things... #edugladiators
A1: Tech has enabled me to "ditch" the textbook and the canned curriculum. It's allowed me to take the kids "out" of the classroom virtually. It's helped to make connections and and have conversations with people all over the world. It's opened so many doors! #edugladiators
A1: Tech is allowing me to see a vision where students are leaders of their own learning! So much flexibility and ownership can be given to students to learn in a way to suits them best! #edugladiators
A2: Yes, they are encouraged to do so. Their voice needs to be shared and heard. They also need to consider and hear the voices of others. #EduGladiators
A2 I do because I believe in showing Ss the potential of a global voice and to model/show them how their voice can add good to the internet world. I also think itโs important for me to share our school story https://t.co/xcveA3l3yxhttps://t.co/ab52ixrp9F#EduGladiators
A2. Yes, kids should publish their work. It gives it meaning and to know that their words can change the world. In the past, I have had student-run blogs through wordpress. We'd have a publishing schedule, editorial dept. etc. Writing must have a purpose. #edugladiators
Q2- I encourage publishing Ss work, when we increase audience we increase motivation, when we increase motivation we increase the quality of work and learning. Of course there can be dangers but there can be dangers on the playground too. we don't cancel recess #edugladiators
A1 I love how technology has made me the student SO MANY TIMES and my students become my teachers! They get a kick out of my excitement and take ownership of being my teacher!๐๐#edugladiators
A2 When Ss share their work they see the value in what they are doing, it is definitely more meaningful and when they receive feedback from other Ss, or classrooms, #edugladiators
A1: technology can allow for student voice (@Flipgrid), allow connections with parents that is valuable (@ClassDojo@Seesaw ), and agree with what someone else said, amazing for differentiation and 24/7 learning #EduGladiators#ShakeUpLearning

A2: If colleagues aren't aware, @joinbubble is brand new and a brilliantly safe and secure way to share content with the world. Free for schools and some amazing conversations happening in a #digcit safe environment #EduGladiators
A1 This has allowed our students to connect globally. It has also allowed teachers and students to understand the difference in Active v. Passive technology. #EduGladiators
Q2- I encourage publishing Ss work, when we increase audience we increase motivation, when we increase motivation we increase the quality of work and learning. Of course there can be dangers but there can be dangers on the playground too. we don't cancel recess #edugladiators
Tech Has indeed changed the platform. Remote collaboration, brainstorming, non-judge mental opportunities to participate, the list goes on. #edugladiators
I'm a big believer in choice. Some kids still prefer hands-on work rather than tech. I like to give options so that everyone can go with their preference.
#EduGladiators
I see so much great work in my school. Iโm always asking teachers, โWho are you sharing this with?โ An authentic audience is huge. I never ask anything that I wouldnโt do, so I model for them w/ @DVWildcatPod#EduGladiators
truthfully many students donโt care what their teachers think anyway because there is a broken or nonexistent relationship. Giving broader voice can overcome that issue and possibly even show the student they are valued enough to be seen as worthy to show global #edugladiators
A2. Publicly sharing our work also gives us the opportunity to document the evolution of our ideas and opinions. If we are deliberate we can see when and what caused our beliefs and opinions to change over time. #edugladiators
Isolation- the enemy of every educator!! Iโm with you 100%๐๐ผ Iโm passionate about literacy and reading and students owning their voice. I know there are others out there like me! #Edugladiators
Almost forgot! I'm collecting student samples to show teachers the possibilities of publishing online. Please submit your links here: https://t.co/wc7MHLlTru#edugladiators
I agree. I model the blogging for an audience with students. The children love seeing visitors to their blog and a comment from someone around the world is the inspiration they need #EduGladiators

@Demetrius_Ball, @specialtechie, @DVWildcatPod
A2: Publishing for the world to see makes Ss feel like their voice and their work is being heard. @BookCreatorApp has a direct publish feature and these 1st Graders loved knowing their books were published online! #edugladiators
A3: Every week, as soon as they submit an assessment, they graph their data as a class and individually. We conference right after to look at strengths/weaknesses & what we could do to improve the following week! This has made a huge difference. #EduGladiators
A3 When we are clear about goals and objectives, when we include our students in those conversations, when students have a say in what they learn and how they learn it , our schools become true learning organizations. #edugladiators
A3 Allow them to move at their pace and help them where they are, where they are going, and "what's next". @flipgrid has been a game changer for me in this area. #edugladiators
A3 I use @NationalHistory to allow choice and freedom of product. It provides guiderails and it paves the way for 2nd semester Indy study choice.
#EduGladiators
A3. We try to model learning (ex. Our choir teacher during non teaching time went into orchestra class and learned with kids how to play viola). We have kids set goals related to academic but need to be more empowering and innovative with it. #edugladiators
As a principal I have met with students and asked them to create learning goals with me and kept them on the learning board in my office. #EduGladiators
A3: Goal-setting is empowering (and an #ISTE standard)! Help students to set goals both for the content in your class and BEYOND. What would s's choose to learn?
#edugladiators#ShakeUpLearning
A2 Yesterday @sarellesalvadorane I created a lit circles โ> podcast unit! Working on an Outdoor Learning Classroom pitch & students wrote a grant 2 years ago. We arenโt preparing for โreal life;โ students are alive NOW. And capable of much more than assignments. #edugladiators
A3 Modeling it, and by doing PBL it gives them more of an opp to explore on their own, set goals and reflect, also at start of the year, Ss set learning goals and then reflect on them throughout the year #edugladiators

@EduGladiators, @ShakeUpLearning, @PaulONeill1972, @D4Griffin3, @BrendanFetters, @mgrosstaylor, @Maverikedu12, @cskiles80, @SaneeBell, @mccoyderek
A1 One of the things I like most about technology is the opportunity to learn from my students. Some of them knows so much more than I do. Check that, most of them do. I learned of new apps in the Google suite I didnโt know existed the other day
#edugladiators
A3) We emphasize continuous mindset as a critical life skill. As adults they will always be learning. My goal is to have them see that as something wonderful. #EduGladiators
A3 It's a common practice for our Ts to meet with our Ss to identify what they have learned, what they are learning, and what's next in their learning. Our Ss determine their next steps and have done student-led conferences to show their goals with Ps #edugladiators
A3: My staff are amazing and they give instant feedback in lessons to children, enabling them to understand their objectives and where they are progressing with their learning #EduGladiators
Third grade- and our data wall in the classroom is nothing pinterest worthy or fancy, just the standards for that six weeks and they can have an overall view of where we are as a class! #edugladiators
We created forms to support intake of information, progress monitoring, marking period data, etc. The charts created help determine campus and student needs. Google drive houses on-going collaboration and documentation. #EduGladiators

A3 relationships and encouragement. Iโm not in the classroom but constantly asking students โehats next?โ Itโs so easy to get caught up in the rat race of the present that one forgets to build and forge for the future - not just students! #EduGladiators
A2: Recently had students write postcards from the moon after learning about the apollo missions. I sent them in the mail! We had so much fun stepping into the role of being an astronaut! I print them on card stock and the paper gets folded in half and taped! #edugladiators
A3: providing students the opportunity to set their own goals is part of my process in IEP meetings. Giving students choices for their method of assessment is also very helpful and keeps students engaged because they are doing what they want to do. #UDL#edugladiators
In the real world, goal-setting is the only way things get done, so we've got to get S's thinking about that when they are young. Life-skills! #EduGladiators#shakeuplearning
A3: I try to put the learning b4 the number. HS kids can get focused on # chasing. So, everything we do can be re-written,revised,done over. That allows them to take chances in their learning.Own it.Focus on it.We set goals for what they want to accomplish together #edugladiators
In praise of humble slideshow as digital book format... Slde:Deck::Page:Book I've seen this is several settings & when I went to grab a shareable resource, guess who came up? https://t.co/iYWuxohXWf#edugladiators
A3: I walk around school every day, talking to students and encouraging them with their next steps in learning. I also teach three sessions a week so can have immediate impact in the classroom #EduGladiators
A3 relationships and encouragement. Iโm not in the classroom but constantly asking students โehats next?โ Itโs so easy to get caught up in the rat race of the present that one forgets to build and forge for the future - not just students! #EduGladiators
A2: This is actually something I have been considering & researching for their upcoming writing pieces. My Ss have beautiful words & need to share them. #EduGladiators#shakeuplearning@ShakeUpLearning
The thing about #edugladiators that everyone is missing is that we are on the verge of runaway climate change and we need a complete re-think of the global economy to ensure a just society & avoid planetary catastrophe.
A3. We should honor the intellectual curiosity of learners. This allows us to honor not only what students already know and have mastered but also what they desire to know more about or learn. Our tendency to reward proficiency via accountability counters this. #edugladiators
A3 @kevinhoneycutt shared some amazing ways for students to not just share out what they are doing but turn those thoughts into REAL products like fabric prints, custom manufactured items, etc... Whats's the next step! #edugladiators
A3Personal and team learning goals are huge for me this year. They begin their semester long project with a project management lesson that walks them through how to build an activity table. Each week the teams reevaluate, set goals and get to work. Then reflect
#edugladiators
Thanks to the efforts of @agarlandedu & @kwreads we are trying to create a continuous learning mindset by rewarding Ss for growth. Ss are use to seeing the top 10% praised, now we are trying to praise those that rarely get the shine! Talk about pushing forward #EduGladiators
A2. I am no longer in the classroom but I would not let my Ss publish to the world unless they use pseudonyms which would not identify them. This is due to the predators & identity thieves out there. Safety First! #EduGladiators
A3 In several of our classes Ss choose their learning targets, decide how they plan to show mastery, design a rubric and then self-assess. This has been so empowering for Ss.
#EduGladiators
A4. I want to empower our kids for more ways to take traditional tasks (writing, speaking) and use tech to be authentic and share with different audiences via podcasts, blogs, Skype etc.. #edugladiators
A3: Jumping: Started this year having Ss create spreadsheets I chart their daily accuracy on vocabulary via Quizziz, M-Th. On Thursday, we look for growth to see if they met the goal they set. Then test on Friday, chart that. Ss are doing way better on the tests! #edugladiators
A3: We reflect on our progress every few weeks in class (& when it is natural to do so). Ss set their goals based on their academic need. They track progress & adjust to make goals realistic & attainable throughout all units of instruction. #EduGladiators#shakeuplearning
A3: Be transparent about your goal setting & learning habits. When S's see that you do this & you don't "have to", they may see more value in it. When S's can set goals & share them w/others, it gives them accountability partners in class. Valuable w/friends. #EduGladiators
Each of us already has learning agilityโthe ability to continuously broaden our skill sets & quickly apply those new abilities to innovation challenges. But we also have blind spots, areas we may over-rely on what we already know or fail to make time for learning. #edugladiators
A3 Stabdard grading, no set due dates with revisions all semester (a new experiment for me). And many repeated responses:
Is that the final product you envisioned?
What would you do if given more time?
How can we help?
Can you help ______ figure out how to_____? #edugladiators
A3: I love one-on-one conferencing in which students set their own personal learning goals. It definitely helps to motivate them - and follow-up feedback conversations are productive and non-threatening. #edugladiators

A4: More international collaboration, sharing of culture and appraisal of children's achievements. Planning to use @joinbubble extensively, @CiL_Events while it lasts and Google hangouts and @Skype to connect with the world with our amazing children #EduGladiators
I have been thinking about having students run a podcast focused on what we are learning about in our science 8 class! Would be interested in how this works in you classroom! Cool! #edugladiators
A4 I want to provide more resources for students to be able to access different tools, and personally to organize my Google Drive and my website! I need an assistant :) #edugladiators

Awesome. We listen to news/civics related podcasts almost every week in class. Allows for more analysis than just knowing what is happening. Adds "what does it mean!" #edugladiators
I am not completely paperless. Ss told me they were spending 7 hours staring at laptops the year I tried. I mix in physical work too. I just conference all day and let them keep the work or hang it up. #EduGladiators
A4. We are going to pilot digital portfolios. The tech challenge isn't about the portfolio. I want to use tech to give kids multiple ways to showcase not only their work, but who they are as people and what they want to accomplish in the world #edugladiators
A4: To spread the word that artificial boundaries can be overcome with the use of technology. The absence of common planning time can now be overcome by using the sharing capabilities of technology. #Edugladiators
Thank you so much for chatting with me tonight It was an honor to be your host. Please let me know if I can help you and your staff with anything!
Bye y'all!
#edugladiators#shakeuplearning
A3 This year for the first time, Ss are setting life skill goals, reflecting on them every 4 weeks & then writing their own prog report comments for the second trimester. I'm so excited to see how this goes!
#EduGladiators
And as an instructional technology I am easily teaching them how to become a global communicator! One of my most read blog posts was written by a student this year! https://t.co/YMd5lhpUun#EduGladiators#empowerment
A4 I want to encourage more Ts to become comfortable with technology that can help them learn from other educators, I want to help educators move away from digital dittos to the higher levels of the SAMAR model @ed_maltbie#edugladiators
A3. Yes. Setting goals allows Ss to choose where they want to go in school & what they want to achieve. By knowing what they want to achieve, they know what they have to concentrate on & improve. Goal setting gives Ss long-term vision & short-term motivation. #edugladiators
A4: Started Having Ss create digital portfoliosto showcase what theyโve learned/can do quarterly this year. In Jan, will roll out spreadsheet of standards/I can statements & Ss will link how theyโve mastered standard on that spreadsheet. Hopefully. ๐#edugladiators
A4 in our Ecosystem it is @MicrosoftEDU I would love to show how to apply so many of the "COOL" Google things to that group of tools and it is ultimately about using the tech for kids OR Allowing the kids to use the tech to grow. I am comfortable in both platforms #edugladiators
A4 Tech challenge for 2019 - Iโm continuing to learn AR/VR to share with students. Iโve learned a lot but there is more to learn... ๐๐ #Edugladiators
A3 We Live it out daily! Our Library is a revolving door of questions and they know we either 1. Have the solution or 2. Will find the solution. And then they see us problem solve on the spot. Constantly encouraging and modeling #Edugladiators
WOW it's time already?!!? Thank you @ShakeUpLearning and #edugladiators for a great Morning chat! Always so encouraged after this chat! Have a great week!
A3. Yes. By setting goals students can: (1) improve their academic performance; (2) increase their motivation to achieve; (3) increase pride and satisfaction in performance; and (4) improve their self-confidence #edugladiators
Had memorable dialogue Thursday w/sampling of 7th graders about HW & classwork experiences. Unexpected number of them championed use of paper, though when asked about how they organize their hard copy materials, most copped to having disaster-area backpacks/binders #edugladiators
A4 I am always looking for new ways to connect with the students. Instagram was suggested as a route to go by last night. Iโm going to give that a try. Also, would like to build a specific North Carolina PLN to address the transformation of education.
#EduGladiators
A4 Out makerspace is in the early stages. Our tech challenge is implementing active tech and increasing global connections and projects. Right now 3 grade have connected with @STJLoomis in Pennsylvania. In Jan. All grades will be working together! #EduGladiators
@CanvasLMS but what I really want to tackle is helping teachers learn what does good assessment look like and how can I use question banks to differentiate? What do critical thinking mc questions look like? How can canvas help me to see the data of my testing #EduGladiators
That was a game changer for us! Young adults loved collecting evidence of their work & learned how important reflecting was. Parents loved seeing them too! #edugladiators
Using #flipgrid in my #driversed class has been awesome. Instead of Ss writing down what they would do, they get in a vehicle and show and tell me how to adjust the vehicle #EduGladiators

A1) it has made the learning experience more student-centric and driven. Instead of telling the kids everything, I can ask them a Good Question and have them look up the info. They can also draw their own conclusions #EduGladiators

#Edugladiators Agree with you LaToya 100%. Are we interested in developing proficient test takers or thinkers and doers? Does proficiency on a state mandated multiple-choice test really measure ones growth of their entrepreneurial mindset?
A3 - I do learning centers with my adult ELL students that are tailored to their own learning goals, which often include a focus on developing life skills and occupational skills. #edugladiators
A1) Texh has also allowed Ss to expand their knowledge, extend their thinking, and express and share their learning in their own unique way #EduGladiators

A3. I would do this by having them create digital or regular portfolios where Ss can see their progress & successes. Success leads to success. In many cases they can actually see how their efforts directly contributes to success. #EduGladiators
A4: Iโm ready to tackle this student led podcast idea as well working on a plan to work with another middle school on a โmissionโ to Mars between the schools! My school would be an outpost and students would hangout to share data based on an experiment they complete #edugladiators
Yes itโs conflicting. The business community wants creative and collaborative thinkers but the accountability system rewards regurgitation, memorization, etc. Itโs interesting to think about...#edugladiators
A2) Yes. I teach Ts how to teach their Ss create run class Facebook pages on the topics we learn and the texts we read. One group creates the page, and another group switches to run the page every month #EduGladiators

#Edugladiators The ability to draw conclusions from research and analysis is huge in entrepreneurship. Afterwords, it requires kids to make pivots on their plans and in some cases begin the process all over again. I equate this to agility and adaptability as well as research

Itโs natural tendency of students to be inward focused. Anytime we can challenge them to focus on needs of others or share their learning globally we take away the bent for self absorption and make them look thru the lens of community. Publish their work globally #EduGladiators
A4. I want to find more tech answers to classroom formative assessments where teachers get immediate feedback without being overwhelmed by the process. I want them to be able to effectively adjust their instruction using the feedback in a timely manner. #EduGladiators
A4) Convince schools snd teachers we should allow kids to use their personal devices in the classroom. Banning cell phones is like cutting them off from the world. #edugladiators

There are lots of great tools out there! I highly recommend @PearDeck there is an add on for google slides and it has a ton of neat interactivity and ability to see students thinking! #edugladiators
#EduGladiators#ShakeUpLearning A1 Technology allowed me the opportunity to seek out people of history to share their stories and interact with our students. Over the last 6 years, it has helped to engage our students in learning. No more reading about an event, now discuss it!
#EduGladiators#ShakeUpLearning A1 Also, technology has allowed me to collaborate with classes around the world. Talked with a class in Argentina ๐ฆ๐ท about gender inequality & a class in Mexico ๐ฒ๐ฝ about current issues. Able to learn perspective of their peers.
I thoroughly enjoyed learning from you all. I look forward to meeting again. Have a super Saturday and Sunday! May Monday bring you closer to your goals. #EduGladiators
Today, we Skyped with Josh Bryant, an engineer at Nissan. He answered tons of questions while walking us through the plant, showing stu different jobs, how robots work, how engines are made, and more. We all learned so much and my kiddos were mind blown! #TCSpublic#FarrarFrogs
