Hey #tlap! Annick, gr 1/2 teacher from Winnipeg, MB. SUPER excited to be hosting tonight! This selfie is from pirate day earlier this school year when @burgessdave Skyped with my class! Too cool, my Ss still talk about him!
Have some fun facts with @quizlet during Live. See if Ss know what their team names mean in groups. Did you know a group of alligators is known as a convoy? #edtech#tlap#xplap
A1 My students inspire me everyday. I remember MS and it is rough. If they have the courage to come to school everyday, then I have the job to bring it and make them want to come! #tlap
Hey, #TLAP I’m Jessica from Texas, 1st grade teacher. We’re excited for the hundredth day and we’re having fun with the #Oldify app to enhance our writing.
A1 Inspiration is everywhere! I love my twitter PLN, reading blogs & DBC books, my students & kids, and my incredible colleagues at #SageCreekLRSD! #tlap

A1. Me as an 8th grader: I had a teacher tell me that I wouldn’t ever amount to anything because I didn’t do too well on one test. I could now take his job away from him, we have the same certification. However, I would never tell a S what he did. He lacked compassion. #tlap
A1: I get my inspiration from a desire to bring honor to God and my family by helping students see that they are amazing people who will change our world for the better. I am teaching amazing students! #tlap
A1 Always wanted to help people & ensure students had a great school experience. I don't want to have any kid feel like they don't belong. My #eduheroes who inspired me to push limits & transform are @ronclarkacademy (Essential 55) and @burgessdave with #TLAP Never been the same
#tlap A1: 2 places. My fam and my Ss. They both need me to be at my best. Their futures depend on it. Every S walks into class hoping (sometimes secretly) that THIS will be the best class they ever attend. I don't want to disappoint hope. All we have is time. Don't waste it.
A1 #tlap I get my inspiration from my #PLN here on Twitter. Sounds kinda corny but those I've met on here have truly changed my life!!
Q1: Describe where you get your inspiration. #tlap
A1 Inspiration comes from observing or talking to people outside the teaching field—psychologists, artists, engineers, naturalists, activists—and looking for ways their work might apply to mine.
#tlap
The #tlap mindset is to look at the world around us and relentlessly ask, "How can I use that?" We are walking right through the middle of amazing ideas EVERYWHERE!
A2 i get inspiration from listening & watching the world around me. I get inspiration from the Cohen quote, “there is a crack in everything, that’s how the light gets in.” #tlap
✨“Creative inspiration is constantly at our disposal,
but we will never see it unless we actively and consistently
attempt to create.” ~Dave Burgess✨
@burgessdave#TLAP#creativity

A1. I get a lot of inspiration from my own kids. They are 2 and 4. Watching them create and play helps when I don’t feel creative. I have found lots of inspiration on Twitter as well. #tlap
A1: i am inspired by so many things and the fact that I have an awesome job and great teachers! Over this past year or so Twitter and this rockin’ PIRATE PLN has been a great influence #tlap
A1-Lately I am getting inspiration from @burgessdave Teach Like a Pirate. We are reading it for a book study at our school. It is amazing and I have so many ideas and so little time. #tlap
Those people are life giving, taking risks, receiving feedback, and trying something new. When you can share the learning journey with someone else, it becomes change for the better! #tlap
A2: I share these stories, quotes, or learning opportunities with my students even if it is a quick 2-3 minute exercise. or tie into psych lesson #tlap
A1) another inspiration is my father, lost use of his legs/ total hand mobility 6 years ago, but he is still woodworking and making amazing things. Check out his YouTube page “WoodWorkingOnWheels” #tlap
A1 I get my inspiration from reading, writing, little people, my faith, random things like ducks landing in my pond in my backyard, my teenage son, my family, friends, my little niece, rainbows...
It's usually the little things in life that inspire me most. #tlap
A1. I get my inspirations from things and people around me, ideas from interests of the Ss, always on the lookout for different, unique things in learning. #tlap
Tammi from Iowa -my inspiration comes from everything I read, the teachers I have met through Twitter, my family, and my students. I also have some pretty great colleagues that push me to be better. #TLAP
A2: Depends what the idea is or is for, so I either write a blog post and then put it into action or I tell my principal that we need to do ___, and we put it in action. #tlap
A2: When I got the inspiration for this display, I could not WAIT to get to school, cut out the letters, go buy the mirrors and get it on the wall! Used my two ice days to get it done. Passion fuels me. #tlap
A1 Inspiration comes from everywhere! Things happening in school-Outside of school- w/ the kids- w/ families- art, music, nature, colleagues- I feel lucky to be surrounded by inspiring people! #tlap
A2: I write notes in my phone, make #BookSnaps as I read and flag inspiring blog posts so I can come back to them when the time is right. This helps me to blog which leads to more reflection and even more creativity. #tlap
A2. I write it down/draw it out and then I share it with others. I really like to get feedback on what I’m thinking to see what ideas others may have to add. #tlap
A2: when inspiration strikes I #sketchnote it, call or text friends to help me brainstorm and work at kinks, vlog or blog about it, and/or put it into place and make it happen. You can always work out the kinks later. #tlap
A2 #tlap I write it down, Google more info on it and then make adjustments to make it work for my purpose and go with it!!
Q2: When inspiration hits you, how do you put it in action? #tlap
A2 Post its, post its, post its everywhere. I write ideas, scribble plans. I reach out to friends and PLN members. I talk it out, bounce ideas off of each other. I dream big. There are no limits for me. When I want something, I go out to get it. Be brave. Be kind. #tlap
A1: Sometimes I feel like my brain doesn't shut off! Lucky to have creativity run in the family. Mom is a quilter, grandma is a painter. My PLN is a huge source for collecting ideas, also Twitter, books, poetry. Always willing to learn & try enhances the creativity! #TLAP
A2: I jot notes on my phone or in my bullet journal. From there, I seek out Ts who may be willing to dive in and collab so we can bring learning alive for Ss! #tlap
A2. When inspiration hits....I have learned to take time, talk with people, get input, make a plan, revise the plan, revise the revision, get more input and set some specific goals for implementation.......Sometimes I jump without knowing how deep the water is. #tlap
A2 When inspiration hits me I take it and I do with it. I like to take my inspiration and I put it in to what I am doing and I just jump into things when I am inspired. #tlap
A2: I often need to talk it out w/ @DPitz82@StacyJFarmer@Mrs_Bibb Bless these amazing people who often have to interpret my ramblings and know exactly how to balance my dramatics #tlap
A2: Giving Ss the opportunity to explore a biome of their choosing and letting them make a website about it. They Ss talked about human impact, symbiosis, plate tectonic impact, food chains/webs, AND added maps/virtual field trips to the sites! A lot of wrk- so much fun. #tlap
A2: My co-workers make fun of me, but I have a dry erase board I put my ideas on to organize them. Currently on the top of the board is "Operation Joy Awakens." Underneath are actionable steps to help inspire teachers and keep up our positive school climate and culture. #tlap
A2-I like to hash through my "inspirational" ideas with someone who is not on cloud nine with me. They help me see the holes and then make it a reality #tlap
A2 When I learn of a new strategy or have a new idea, I've got to put it in my plans sooner rather than later so I don't lose steam...or chicken out. #tlap
A2: when I feel inspired I just want to be around Ss! I think part of me is hoping that my enthusiasm is so contagious they can feel it too and are inspired as well! I want to share it with anyone willing to listen to my crazy ideas! #tlap
A2: I put my inspiration into action by writing down my ideas, and then talking about it with colleagues. They always help me bring it to the next level! #tlap
#tlap A2: I am an idea teacher. I have lots of ideas about education, so what I do is write it down, make a plan, and sometimes implement it. If it doesn't work, I go back, reflect, and try it again. This process is what I want my Ss to do with their ideas.
A2: This is a CRITICAL question! As I said in the #InnovatorsMindset foreword, "Inspiration without implementation is a waste." Move beyond ideas into ACTION!! #tlap
A2 when inspiration hits my students are the first to benefit. CRAZY NEW ideas pop up and they are my sounding board. A good one too! The second spot is my blog https://t.co/3WlVsV2PKJ:blog Love turning ideas into stories! #tlap
A2) First I ask, how my students can be successful with this then I figure out best ways to use the inspiration and best method to get my message out to students #tlap
#tlap A1: Seeing that kid...the inconsistent one..come back again and have a good day. He asks questions, risks conjectures, and doesn't quit...either trying or smiling. Even after a string of bad days. If he can do it...if he hasn't given up..I gotta keep it going for him!
A2: Mostly the sketching and notetaking begin when the inspiration arrives, creating a plan and putting it into action. Other times, I jump write in. #tlap
A2 I implement my inspiration in my lessons and PD. My Ss inspired me to include them in facilitating PD. We conducted 2 of them on metacognition. 😊 #tlap
A2) Shared w/Learners my love of hiking & friend who was climbing Everest & blogging journey, they wanted to learn all things Everest, geography, topography, weather, became interdisciplinary unit Had party when Rich reached summit #tlap
A2: I jot notes on my phone or in a notepad (sometimes in the middle of the night). I hash those ideas out with colleagues. I think hard about them and grow the idea! #TLAP
A2 Inspiration strikes---> Google/Twitter/YouTube-->create and try. Try new things and tell your students you are doing something new! They will be kind and appreciative of your efforts #tlap
A2: Sometimes it helps me if I know I am going to share out my ideas when done… I take them to an extra bit of finally that really makes them polished… Just like students, a wider audience makes me up my game. #TLAP
Though we joke around a lot, I really appreciate the conversations between Aly, @ToddRisser, and me before/after school to help me find new ways to innovate! #tlap Aly is a really great follow, she is the definition of a student-first teacher!
A2: I put my inspiration into action by writing down my ideas, and then talking about it with colleagues. They always help me bring it to the next level! #tlap
A2: my motto is to #stealLAP and I put ideas in files, journals and various other locations.... sometimes I am so excited that I screenshoot like mad!!! #leadlap#tlap
A2: It immediately goes into my Google Calendar tasks and I usually send a text or voxer message to the person I need to help me make it happen. Involving someone else in the early stages takes it beyond imagination! #tlap
A2: Blog, writhing a book, starting a nonprofit... all things I’m engaged in now. I’m an inspiration junkie. Bottom line is when inspiration hits you have to be a verb not an adjective. #TLAP#IMMOOC
A2: I look for somewhere I can use it in my class, or share it with other educators that might be able to take advantage of it. I’m sure some people hide when they see me coming... #tlap
A2: If it is something that can be tried right away in the class, I'm game. I struggle a bit when their is a bit of a delay in implementation. I do bookmark sites and write notes on specific units to jog my memory #tlap
I love this!! When I’m in my Innovation Lab, I have a similar board for ideas. Tell me more about Operation Joy Awakens! Sounds like something @OrganicLeaderVB would love, too! #tlap
A2: When inspiration hits, I immediately take action! I look for what content I can connect it to and then prep what materials I need to execute the task!! Don’t wait!! #tlap
A1: I find my inspiration in the creativity of the people around me. I am challenged by this community and how you work everyday to make your kids successful. #tlap
A2: When inspiration hits I have to share it with someone. I love trying something new with Ss and getting their feedback right away, best type of inspiration! #tlap
A2 as principal, it depends. Typically, I share the idea with others and ask opinions. How can we make the idea better? Do you think it will benifet Ss? Then I try it and evaluate it. Sometimes it is a success, other times it needs improvement or scrapping. #tlap
A2- I like to make a note on @GoogleKeep speak with colleagues and then try to get the ball rolling by scheduling a time to work on the idea by myself or with a team #tlap
You are an amazing educator… I am impressed by just how high you reach… You and your students keep catching the stars due to that perspective. Congrats! #TLAP
In reply to
@MrsCford_tweets, @HeckAwesome, @Slapshot99, @realrapreynolds, @tishrich, @Chucktaft, @MrPowley, @TaraMartinEDU
A2 #tlap I immediately start thinking how I can incorporate it into my teaching. I have a notebook of random thoughts along with files on my computer when I come across something I want to revisit.
a2: Don't wait for perfection...it ain't coming!! Perfectionism stifles creativity. Shut down the internal critic and Don't let the external ones steal your soul and courage! #tlap
A2: I save pictures or write little notes so I can remember what I saw or found. This way I can go back to it. Usually I'm so excited I try to get going with it right away! #tlap
Mark your calendar for #MasteryChat this week with @MsJachymiak! We can't WAIT to talk about Questions From a New Teacher! PLN, bring your knowledge to this chat! ALL educators welcome!
#tlap A2: Inspiration IS action! Do it.....do it poorly if you have to.....and be ready to learn. Get witnesses. Get helpers. Get their feedback....especially if the witnesses and helpers are Ss. But don't deny them the opportunity to see YOU risk!
A2: as a resource teacher my first step is to talk to classroom teachers and see who is interested in my ideas or if my ideas meet the needs of their classroom. #tlap
A2 I incorporate it into my teaching. I write. Or I put it on a post-it on my bathroom mirror and let it sit there for a while, until I figure out what to do with it. #tlap
A2: Write it down or make a note in my phone right then, no matter what time it is. Creative inspiration sometimes comes at the strangest times/settings! #tlap
A2: I start by writing it down, recording it is the first step, then gathering props/materials that will bring it to life for my students. I want them to be as excited/inspired as I am to try something new. As @burgessdave says, you need a good "hook." #tlap
Kind of sounds like a vision board! Putting your ideas out in the open help you achieve them, and give you daily reminders of what you’re striving for! #tlap
A2. When the idea hits, I write it down, research information, design an activity or experiment around topic of interest for Ss. Take a risk! Be courageous and kind. #tlap
A2 When inspiration hits, I am more of a percolator- I have to think about things, maybe bounce some ideas around with others. For me,it helps to let the spark develop into the complete lightbulb. #tlap
A2 I typically jot things down in the notes section of my calendar or on a random piece of paper and file it away until needed. However, I’m starting to use OneNote to keep up with things electronically. #tlap
A2: putting my inspiration into action is sharing and talking about how I can make it my work or thinking of the possibilities in our school or with colleagues #tlap
A2: Inspiration leads to empowerment, which leads to risk-taking, which leads to growth. Where that growth takes you can chart a course to unknown territory. What happens from there, is up to you! #tlap
I brainstorm ideas, and I want to use them in my class asap. I start asking people "Do you have....; I need it for my class."
I share and get feedback from my team. #tlap
Hi! Cori from Los Fresnos, TX jumping in late. A2 I usually go ALL IN when inspiration strikes. I’ve been known to be pretty impulsive in that sense! #tlap
Sometimes I am too far out there and need to bring it back a bit.
As a leader, I need to make sure there are people on board with the idea....if no one is following, I am just some guy out for a walk. #tlap
A2: Great question. When inspired, I have a tendency to go read about whatever the inspiration is leading me toward. I also ask a lot of questions. My favorite part........ go try it !! #tlap
✨“Creative inspiration is constantly at our disposal, but we will never see it unless we actively and consistently attempt to create.”✨ ~Dave Burgess
#TLAP#creativity@burgessdave
A2 if inspiration (usually while listening to a podcast) hits while driving, I voice dictate ideas to @GoogleKeep then make a plan from Keep to my #bujo#gttribe#tlap
a2: Don't wait for perfection...it ain't coming!! Perfectionism stifles creativity. Shut down the internal critic and Don't let the external ones steal your soul and courage! #tlap
A2 When I find inspiration online, I usually email it to myself. But then I get overwhelmed by all the great ideas 🤷🏻♀️I am trying to focus on 1 piece and build from there. #tlap
A3: TIME! I carve out time to take my inspiration that I often get from consuming and then create a blog post to push my thinking or create empowering lessons for my students. #tlap
Couldn’t agree more! In between jokes, we have come up with great ideas to help our kids and find new ways to make school great. The conversations are extremely valuable #tlap
#tlap A3: Visit classes. Help create a community of safe peer feedback. Open my doors to anyone anytime. Teach my students "mathacognition" so they can transfer learning from one class to the next.
A3: I am always trying to make new things. I created a project recently where students web design, I have had students do a Westward Expansion Twitter Chat, i want students to develop products, I don't want to just look at collages! #tlap@MathWithMsHawes@misskoplin
A2 I write...unless I'm working out or showering when it hits. 😂 It tends to happen far too often. Many times, I'm driving, so I voice memo myself so I can write about it.
In short, I put it in action by writing. Or, actually doing whatever it has inspired me to do. #tlap
A3 #tlap As a preservice teacher it's hard not to be somewhat of a"consumer" but I try to take others Ideas and make them my own. I created my own BreakOut Edu lesson to teach SS about Dec of Independence
A3: I create as much of a positive atmosphere as possible! If you come in with a bad attitude you consume other people's positive energy. #tlap@burgessdave
A3 I love to write and jot ideas down. I like to share ideas (obsessed with Twitter chats) and learn from others. I love to exchange with other educators through Voxer and other tools. It is all about putting ideas out there, growing and changing the world. Trust yourself. #tlap
A3: In the classroom facilitating and creating discussions is something beneficial I plan to do rather than forcing the consumption of ideas on our students. #tlap
A3: I love to create with colleagues after school with no time constraints. We @Google Hangout. Otherwise I start blogs. I have about 15 unpublished partially written blogs at any given time. #tlap
A1: I get inspiration from so many places - - from family, friends, colleagues, kids, my PLN, and from inspiration quotes like this one that made a difference for me back in 1990 when I stepped into my classroom for the first time.
#tlap
A1. I work really hard at creating relevant experiences for my kids. I take those good lessons that I could simply consume, and find ways to drive out the real concepts usually with manipulatives, visuals, and other generalizations to get my Ss touching and seeing Math. #tlap
A3: I love to create… This year started a youtube channel to share out ideas on education… A video blog has been great. Join me and subscribe today. I would be honored to have you. https://t.co/SB0FREshu7#TLAP
A3) I do a lot of creating when I’m individualizing for students. Knowing their strengths helps me create tools to cater to and help build those even stronger. The @NWEA learning continuum is great for this!! #tlap
A3. It's important to me to create new experiences every year. I don't want to use the same plans as last year. It forces me to look for something better to provide an experience. #tlap
A3 create meaning through making. I always ask my own kids what did you make with your hands today. Letting ss make connections & experience/express learning in a variety of ways. Create opportunities 2 empower & amplify ss voice. #tlap
I started podcasting and blogging this year. It has been super cathartic. It has also helped me create a voice for myself that I originally didn't think possible. #tlap
A3: When I find a tech tool I ❤️, I instantly start creating activities for all grade levels/ subjects (because I work district wide) before I share it. #tlap
A3 #tlap As a preservice teacher it's hard not to be somewhat of a"consumer" but I try to take others Ideas and make them my own. I created my own BreakOut Edu lesson to teach SS about Dec of Independence
A3 I create by making things happen, and being inspired by the idea of it, and working through it. I also like to come up with new things for my preschoolers to learn better. Like new games and activites. #tlap
Perfectionism has been the biggest hurdle I’ve had to overcome. No one is looking for perfect, just effective. You can’t be afraid to take risks! #tlap
A3: I don’t wait for someone to tell me what to do and how to do it if it’s still “in the works”. If I waited for everything I would be waiting FOREVER. Instead I try to create as much as possible and consume when necessary and asked to. #tlap
When inspirationhits me, I try to utilize every available learning tool, interactive/hands-on activity, prior knowledge, and pure determination:) Basically, I do whatever it takes to make it happen:) #tlap.
A3 #tlap You especially can't let the negativity consume you! Turn a negative into a positive! Create solutions to problems! #POWEROFPOSTIVITYINEDUCATION
Q3: Describe ways you create rather than consume. #tlap
A3: A non teacher thing...I absolutely love photography and capturing moments. I then love to create scrapbooks (digital & not). I also LOVE creating #HyperDocs and #tlap -ing up a lesson!
A3: Oh how do I create? Let me count the ways: 1) #BookSnaps 2) #EduSnaps 3) Blog posts 4) Innovative practices backed by research +materials to share 5) Graphics for school/EDU in general, or for my pals @RickJetter and @MathDenisNJ who promised me caffeine & chocolate. #tlap
A3: I think it’s important to not take on too much at a time. Find one change you want to make and commit to that one thing. It’s better to do one thing really great than ten things ok without fidelity. Once your one is great pick another! #tlap#imighthavenotansweredthequestion
A3 I have started my blog to better reflect and compile my ideas. I am slowly making the transition of starting teach inservice classes instead of just taking them. #tlap
A3: as a second year teacher, I take the many suggestions from my team members but make them my own. I love helping kids connect their learning to everyday life. #tlap
I know I've said this 1000 times but let me say it again. I love seeing your students in the hall, they always look like they are super interested in what they are learning! #tlap
#tlap A3: I put books that I read into action. I read Active Literacy Across the Curriculum by @HeidiHayesJacob, and used the information in that book to help my Ss connect & interact with what they are reading. Ss also need to put their learning into action & do something.
A3: I consume books and then take ideas to create moments for the people with whom I work...this seems to drive my creativity and I love it...and it is contagious...love seeing others doing the same or being motivated by what I am doing! #tlap
I hold PD for teachers to learn something new and let them know I will flex my schedule to come in and teach side by side as they are learning and doing.#tlap
A2: When inspiration hits I try the new ideas in my lessons with my students and gain their feedback and evaluate how my students performed with the new concepts , and write my ideas down to figure out how they can best be incorporated into my lessons. #tlap
A3: I create so much through my camera and the different perspective that it brings. Capturing images, making things with my hands, crafting origami, so many ways to create!! Must create a lot to get better #tlap@AnnickRauch
A3: One way I create is that every year is different for me. I change the structure of lessons or activities based on the class. I don't rely on the "laminated lesson plans." #TLAP
A3 I've been trying to blog a little more than I have in the past, along with creating resources like infographics for the teachers in my district and elsewhere. In fact, my #oneword2018 is #Create#tlap
A3 I create by trying to think about each of my students’ needs. I reflect on how I can reach them in a better whether it is to build relationships, change a lesson, or create a “hook” that will inspire them #tlap
A3: Helping others come up with ways to create is fun for me! Finding fun ways to show others little things I’ve learned along the way helps me create and helps them too. #tlap
A3: planning is where I find my creativity. Inspiring my students to discover phenomena and then being able to discuss about it... that’s my JAM! I also love helping others learn (adults and students). Love love love creating blogs and spreading the ❤️ about edtech #TLAP
Thanks Dave! Educators like you have helped me realize and tap into creativity. I recently used your passage in #tlap about creativity to help reach a teacher in my building!
A3: I reflect on the activities and lessons I’ve done and change them up each year for the particular groups of kids. I love creating new learning experiences. #tlap
A3: I constantly show my Ss how to use their devices for creating not consuming. It blows their minds when they see other ways than just playing video games. #tlap
A3 getting better at this. Created a staff compitetion for the use of Twitter. Today I was asked, “If we utilize today’s Pd w Ss in class and tweet it out, do we get more points?” #tlap
A3: I love creating new tasks & activities for my Ss & then share them on our #pineapplechart & SM! My hope is that it is something that someone else can gain inspiration from & use in their classrooms! #tlap
I am slowly becoming a firm believer in the power of voice typing to save us time and become more productive.
In 2 hours of driving, I have written more than 3,600 words on an ebook. Without taking my eyes off the road.
(This tweet too.) #ditchbook#edtech
we help to foster the creative mindset when we model creativity, but also accept the different paths that our Ss will take in creating. Can't be a perfect product, but must be open to feedback #tlap
A2: to put things into action... gas pedal the floor! Order the black lights, crime scene tape and figure it out piece by piece. I try to not stifle an idea... start building, beleiving the product can be amazing! It isn’t always perfect but it’s the journey I love #tlap
A3: find ideas that you like and then make them your own to fit your learning environment. Create with other Ts through inspiration that you consume. #tlap
LOVE that you tied in gratitude-one of my favorite words. 😊 I believe gratitude, and many other traits, are like @burgessdave's take on creativity-you need to work at it, be cognizant of it. It doesn't just happen-it's a CHOICE you make. #tlap
A3 Working with Sped kiddos forces me to be creative. I have to constantly adapt to meet their needs. My biggest challenge and greatest goal is to stay rigorous while meeting their unique needs...and yes that often means I have to #TLAP
Empowered students! In our Innovation Lab, students have more say in how they learn, lots more choice and opps for 4Cs - seriously, it has transformed my lessons with Ss and Ts! #tlap
I love to make things for my teachers to use with their students. @canva is my favorite for making graphics to share tips with my teachers. Quick, easy and usually helps them with their students. #tlap#instructionaltech
A3: I blog wrote, book write, developed PD series for my district that I facilitate once a month, speak at conferences, share on Twitter and Voxer, local #coffeeEDU once a week, #sketchnote learning. #tlap
I create opportunities for teachers and students in my school to try new things and think critically. I also create a culture that prioritizes problem solving and learning by doing. #tlap
A2: When inspirations hits me, I immediately want to share w/others to, hopefully, inspire them as well. One way I try to do this with my Ts is through the daily written announcements. I have a section for students & a section for staff. #tlap
A3. there is a element where being a consumer is important, b/c you can't impart what you don't have. That is why the people you surround yourself with, and what you read, are so important... It allows you to "create" unique and lasting experiences for students #tlap
A3: This year I’ve focused on creating positive relationships with students and staff members. Making connections within my school community has been invaluable. #tlap
A3 I love to create exciting, relatable, humorous content on Instagram and Facebook. I have also found the writing process so fun and came out with my 2nd title #180daysofawesome in June #tlap
A3: I create a lot of little things that feed into the creation of a positive culture. My goal is that the PD tracks, images, tweets, Voxer messages, etc.. create moments and memories for students and teachers! #tlap
A3: I love collaborating with others on projects...including my Ss. I dream big much of the time & I need others to help me to flesh it out and create alongside me. #tlap

A3: Time is an independent variable that I try not to consume from my teachers. I am looking to integrate technology to help my teachers communicate for an alternate option as to meeting face to face all the time. #tlap
A3) When I create, I usually make lists, sketches, and and even develop a timeline, to ensure I not only get things completed, but check to ensure my creations come out the way I had planned. #tlap
This is so me... There are times I get excited by what I am creating that I end up "ruining" the surprise for my students because I have to share what's coming up :) #TLAP
A4: I’m always on the lookout for edtech recommendations that I can share with everyone! not just science teachers, I know what works for me doesn’t necessarily work for everyone else. #tlap
A4: I inspire others by embracing my passions and living them to the fullest… I Create, share, and grow just about everyday. From podcasts, youtube, blog, twitter, instagram, book and more I am always growing! #TLAP
A4: I like to think that my passion spreads when I share share share. I love to blog, talk to anyone who will listen, bounce ideas off of others, and create amazing things together. Oh, I also love to gift awesome DBC books! :) #tlap
A4: SHARE your awesomeness!! There are 2 things that hold many back...I CRUSH both excuses in The Critical Importance of 127!! Please read! https://t.co/FwUeNdlCQx#tlap#140EduTips
A4 I hope my enthusiasm and encouragement to take risks is something that inspires others as well as my general attitude and concern for the people under our roof each day #TLAP
A3 I think it is important to find some balance so time can be dedicated to both teaching & non-teaching creating! Creating great learning experiences for Ss & then also writing, painting, making, etc. on our own recharges us. #tlap
A4. I share. I am always happy to talk about what I’m doing and get ideas from them on what they are doing. When I share the things that I know may bring resistance, I talk up the idea of nothing being cookie cutter - make it work for you. #tlap
A4: I love finding ways to incorporate Twitter and #tlap into everyday conversation! I also post daily reflection videos to my hashtag #techwithstef Then I use the @1SecondEveryday app to make my day in the life of a coach video! :)
A3: My principal @diane_mackinnon encouraged us to do Worksheet Free Wednesdays and this has developed a creative mindset throughout our faculty. It has also transformed our Ss from consumers to creators. #tlap
A3) I create Gifted learning experiences & Gifted curriculum, fortunate to be allowed the flexibility & opportunity to take risks & try new things, no ready made series or textbooks... real life, world issues, meaningful & relevant #tlap
A4: We inspire other educators through the way that we share. We must share not only resources, but excitement and our own curiosity! Teachers become excited by creating, not just consuming, that's inspirational #tlap
A4: Well, that is sort of my job. I create sites providing links, “how to” videos, and examples for every subject and grade level. I send out weekly “tips” hoping to inspire them. #tlap
A4 I try to share my ideas, my beliefs, my values. I believe, live, promote and share kindness daily. That is a core belief. We need more kindness and I will always be a "kind" catalyst. I hope to inspire with my words, but mostly my actions. Celebrate people! #tlap
A4: #ObserveMe ... come in and see us at our most vulnerable point. We may fail but in turn we will succeed! #RiskTaker about to mention I have my own Teacher stocked library of DBC books to borrow 😉 #tlap
A2: When I’m feeling creative, I have to visualize myself doing what I want to accomplish and focus on action steps! Once I know where I’m wanting to go, I set aside a few minutes each day to reach that point! #tlap
A4: I inspire others by embracing my passions and living them to the fullest… I Create, share, and grow just about everyday. From podcasts, youtube, blog, twitter, instagram, book and more I am always growing! #TLAP
I hope I inspire other educators by listening to them, asking them questions, celebrating with them and giving them a safe place when those inevitable failures hit. Maybe my willingness to take risks and try things inspires some. #tlap
A4) oooo this is tough...sharing my struggles and learning experiences to show we are all going through a lot. Plus sharing the wins and celebrating great things happening in the classroom like this convo I caught in class today #tlap
A4) I inspire other educators by sharing ideas that helped me be a successful teacher in areas such as classroom management and curriculum - First Year Teacher Academy at our district. #tlap
Q3: I try to create opportunities for collaboration for my Ts. I try to be a positive role model by being positive and kind. I also respect the difficult work that they do and try to always make them feel appreciated and valued.
#tlap
A3 Not consistently yet, but working in it. I created a slideshow yesterday with pictures of our city from the past 200 years to kick off our unit on changes. The Ss loved seeing pictures of our city without the highway running through the middle and without the bridges #tlap
A4 I hope that others would say I inspire them by DOING. I set my mind to something and then I work like heck to make it happen. I also love to celebrate education every day and that can be contagious 🎉🎉🎉 #tlap
A4: I share, freely and widely, to the point of sometimes oversharing. Feel honored when I know that someone uses what I created and then share some more. #TLAP
A3 #BookSnaps, R.E.A.L. Talk YouTube Channel, Blogging, writing & publishing #REALedu EEEEkkkk #Leading Like a Pirate with LOTS of ☠️ hooks while leading my coaches. #tlap
That sounds like an awesome list. I have tried to observe as many as I can as well, which has been a little harder than I thought. Thanks for the encouragement. Definitely motivational #tlap
A4: a lot of this is in the same way I create. I hope I make a positive difference through sharing honest reflections and new ideas through my blog,on YouTube, and through Twitter chats. In my building I hope that I'm seen as someone willing to listen, help, and guide #tlap
A3: my Ss learning abt the artist John Trumbull, & using @HamiltonMusical for creating self rap poems in their gen clsrm. Using @incredibox_ for the beats. #tlap
A4: That is tougher to answer, but I try by modeling, encouraging, making my risk taking visible, taking them by the hand and dragging them along, making it all seem fun (because it is)! I just be me. #tlap
A4. Its hard sometimes. But I try to set an example for others. With our technology initiative I try to model for them things they could do with their kids. #tlap
A1: My inspiration comes from my inquiring students who love life and learning together! When we talk and share, explore and question, ideas and inspiration just flow! It's synchronistic! #tlap
A4: I used to be a very private person but twitter has given me a platform to share what’s going on in my classroom! I 💙 getting to share what we do each day & hope it inspires others! I share pics bc I believe they tell the story! #TLAP
Q4: Inspire was my #OneWord2017 and I worked to inspire staff in many ways...Smore newsletters, PD, book talks, visibility, supportive, and more...and more to be done in 2018 #tlap
A4: I try to inspireothwra by always leaving positive feedback and spreading kindness...Tweeting ideas and passages read, #edusnaps blog posts, pictures of fun things that I have created for education...and of course, by sharing the latest #DBCBooks that I am reading!!#tlap
A4: I try to be relatable, approachable, and lead by example. It helps to let others know you’ve been there too. I’m not going to ask anyone to do anything I’m not willing to do. #tlap
Doing something that is POWERFUL for kids? It's not just okay to share it...you have a moral imperative to share it! AND...to get good at sharing it so you can AMPLIFY YOUR IMPACT! #tlap#ChangeTheWorld#MightierPurpose
A4: I hope that through my interactions with teachers, I am leading by example. I try to help teachers reach their own goals and I focus my time with them on their areas of growth rather than my own agenda. #growingothers#tlap
A4 By always being encouraging...Focus on the positive and ask how you can help...Sometimes it's just about listening...dance music never hurts either...@burgessdave is the macdaddy...I'm ok being the daddymac #tlap@itsmeSpiri

A4: Find out the passion of others and believe in them! Motivate them towards greatness. When I empower others to dream big, it makes my heart happy too! Creation of #ShareMOEdu podcast was born b/c a member of my PLN gave me a gentle nudge! #TLAP@eric_carlin
A4: I try to inspire other educators by providing alternative view points, and showing them that there is more than approach. I love to help provide challenge, and then support them for the big and little successes! #tlap
Q4 #tlap I am getting my MAT at 40 (better late than never) and I feel like mama bear to a lot of my classmates. I love that they turn to me for help or advice (school and life). What they may not know is that they teach and inspire me in return. @hannahjblanton
A4: I like to inspire other educators by giving feedback in the form of a question. It allows the educator to unpack their way of thinking in depth. #tlap
A4: I let my S's success be the inspiration. I try something, and soon I have a few other colleagues trying it. I am open about what works and what doesn't. #TLAP
A4: I hope it is through my passion and enthusiasm for teaching. I am always willing to share & help where I can and if not, encourage others in their own journeys. #tlap
A4 I inspire other educators by encouraging them to share their ideas via co-facilitating PD. I place encouraging notes in their boxes or I text them how much I ❤️d their lesson. #tlap
A4 I try to share what I am going with other Ts in my bldg. It doesn't always get acknowledged so I have started sharing more on Twitter with my #PLN and in chats of course. #tlap
Q4: Oops! I think I alluded to this one in my response to Q3. I try to be a positive role model, promote kindness & compassion, and a love of learning. #tlap
A4 I try to share my ideas, my beliefs, my values. I believe, live, promote and share kindness daily. That is a core belief. We need more kindness and I will always be a "kind" catalyst. I hope to inspire with my words, but mostly my actions. Celebrate people! #tlap
Yes! you can add videos from YouTube/Ed Puzzle library, edit them, add questions and discussions within the video. Students cannot skip ahead! I love it. #tlap
Feature colleagues in blogs and newsletters, encourage them to lead PD, sub for them when they need time to create amazing learning experiences, help them find the bigger picture when school gets busy #tlap
A4. I share. I am always happy to talk about what I’m doing and get ideas from them on what they are doing. When I share the things that I know may bring resistance, I talk up the idea of nothing being cookie cutter - make it work for you. #tlap
A3: I try to take activities and see if I can throw a kinesthetic spin on them. During student teaching I tried to create every lesson. (It was fun, but took a lot!) As a T, I’m learning the value of balance in consume/create. #tlap
How do we review for our practice STAAR test this week? Mix in a little fun! Genre stations w/reading passages & Qs/As = earned entry into games! CoTeacher & I wanted to make it different & engaging. Student led. @CrosbyMiddleSch#AlwaysEarnedNeverGiven#ThinkOutsideTheBowl
I have conversations and share my enthusiasm! Also try to support those who have ?s or want to learn more...about tools or resources such as Twitter #tlap
A4: I don't have a team of teachers yet, with my classmates we work together to understand assignments, and standards. Can't wait to apply this teamwork in my first teaching job, I want a PLC where we support each other and our students! #tlap
A4 I try to inspire by example and being available and supportive. My hall now says "What's Taylor up to" but if other teachers know you are willing to listen, assist and encourage they will try more things. #tlap
A4: Via vulnerability. Teachers are inspired by what’s real. Pretending to be stronger, smarter, or more competent than I actually am gets me know where. I inspire by being broken; imperfect. I inspire by being human #tlap
I think I inspire other educators by showing them what their students can do. I also share what we are doing in the library so other teachers might be inspired to try something new or come to me for help. Also showing them that failure happens! #tlap
A4: Also having good relationships with parents helps spread the inspiration. Rather than have parents criticize you, be the one they want to share the good news about. #TLAP
A4: I pray that I am able to inspire other through my actions, connections, work ethic, determination o make a difference, and thinking outside the box. #tlap
A3: I create relationships. I focus on the other person’s thoughts, wants, and ideas and try my best to support, understand, and celebrate them. By not putting myself first, I build meaningful, lasting friendships that are enjoyable and fun! #tlap
A5: I hope my honesty and transparency w Ss inspires them. They know I make mistakes and am willing to own up to them. I take chances and try new things and help them to do the same without fearing failure so much. #tlap
@misskoplin has opened my eyes to reaching special ed students. I have enjoyed working with special ed students in the past, but Aly has helped me find more ways to best meet THEIR needs! Definitely worth a follow on twitter if you are looking for reflective teaching! #tlap
A4: I try to inspire other educators by providing alternative view points, and showing them that there is more than approach. I love to help provide challenge, and then support them for the big and little successes! #tlap
A4 I share what I am doing. I have been using @Seesaw this year. A few teachers have noticed the QR codes attached to work in the hallway and asked me about it. #tlap
A4 Throw open our doors, literally & figuratively. Share your ideas- your challenges- your struggles- Invite everyone in to see the learning! Be open, ready & eager to learn from others: colleagues-families-kids! #tlap
Love this! It takes courage for other teachers to approach us with their ideas to try something new... knowing we will say YES makes it easier for them to take that risk! #tlap
A5: I always try to model my learning to my students... the ups and the downs. Incorporating their passions in their learning also leads to great inspiration! #tlap
A5: I would like to think to become a better person. #LifeChallenges weekly and our theme for the quarter is pushing your comfort zone- I do it along with them and share stories. #tlap
A5: Again by sharing and developing relationships. I share my experiences, both as a student and as a person. Share what I like and listen to what they like. #TLAP
A5 #tlap I try to be their champion like the late great Rita Pearson said every child deserves!! I believe in them and show my passion in all I do!!
Q5: Describe one way you inspire students. #tlap
A5: As crazy as it sounds I try to inspire students by sharing my own failures as a student. Many are shocked to learn that you can be an educator with having done well in school as a kid. You're never out of the game. #TLAP
A3 #BookSnaps, R.E.A.L. Talk YouTube Channel, Blogging, writing & publishing #REALedu EEEEkkkk #Leadlap with LOTS of ☠️ hooks with those I serve, infographics, digital creations, etc. #tlap
A5: I plan to inspire students by getting to know them, and relating our projects and content to what they have passion for. Double passion, double whammy! #tlap
A5: Hands down one of the coolest experiences for me was attending high school graduation to see my first 2nd grade class get their diplomas! I stay in touch & want them to know I’m always cheering! 🎓🦅❤️ #tlap
A5: I connect with them, and hook on this. They piggy back off of my excitement. I geek out over the mundane, and it becomes exciting. When they sense we're excited, they will mirror our emotions. It's a contagious atmosphere. #TLAP
Q5: By being a positive role model each and every day, checking in with them, helping them through their challenging moments, being real and sharing things from my life & how I persevered, always, always encouraging them, and by smiling and being joyful in their presence.

A4: I try to find their spark, help them to see it themselves and find ways to fan it to grow. I "nudge" others to stretch to where I see them going. Also, walk alongside the journey. #tlap
A5: I inspire my students by inviting them on an adventure of a lifetime… They leave a legacy in world history and my #Gamified courses Realm of Nobles. #TLAP
A4: As a first year teacher I have a pretty optimistic perspective. It’s like your first year of college. Everything is new & exciting. I try to share that. #tlap
A5) Everyday is a new day and come to class with positive energy, enthusiasm, and an open invite for all to get on the bus. Positive praise all over when you see even the little things being done #tlap
A4: By sharing classroom successes and failures. Celebrating the amazing learning moments and reflecting together on the failures. The take away from both make us better educators. Giving high-fives or lifting each other up. We are all on this journey together Ts & Ss. #tlap
A5:
B- Being
E- Evaluative
L- in a Loving,
I- Inspiring
E- Environment
V- being Vocal for
E- Everyone
Being someone who believes in people will always inspire others! #TLAP
A2: When inspiration hits, it's usually at night after reflecting. Knowing where I need (& want) to go, but still being a responsive teacher to the things that surface w/ the children. I've learned how to become a risk-taker & embrace it using real bks & sci tools. #tlap
A4: I try to give realistic and practical advice. I share pictures, content, and resources with others I feel genuinely works in the classroom. I accept nothing but trying my best for my students, and I know my coworkers do the same. #tlap
A5: I inspire my students by providing consistent encouragement and praise, even with the small things. Working with SPED students, they often feel discouraged from the start, and just need a little nudge so they can take the leap. #tlap
A5: Inspiring students starts with accepting questions and Ss curiosity. Inspiring comes from opening learning spaces to Ss passions and wonders. Inspiring Ss happens when we bring hands on learning, not just a worksheet. Inspiring comes from connecting to the community #tlap
A5: I inspire students by treating them individually, sharing previous experiences with them, jumping into problems with them (educationally & socially), challenging them and listening to them. #tlap
A5: I want to be Mr. Feeney. I want to push my students beyond what they are comfortable with, because I see their potential. I think my optimism and humor creates relationships that inspires students to be the best versions of themselves! #tlap@burgessdave@MathWithMsHawes
A5 #tlap I"m a preservice teacher about to do my second 40 hour clinical. But when I have been in the CR, I find that to show genuine care and respect for Ss is inspirational. If someone else believes in them they are more likely to believe in themselves #conversechat
A5: I am committed to making everything in my class student-centered. We collaborate on projects, assessments, and rubrics. Student-lead fitness is their favorite #tlap
I love them and believe in them just exactly how they are each day. I think all of us are inspired to be our best selves when people believe in us and honor our uniqueness. #tlap
A5: I develop strong relationships with my kids and let them see me as a person and as a life long learner. I hope this inspires them to keep learning and to keep taking risks. #tlap
A5. I have found the best way to inspire Ss is to create genuine relationships with them. This allows for honest conversations about expectations, and why you may or may not do things. They will respond #tlap
A5: Believing in them and unlocking the potential they have! Being honest with them and showing them it’s okay to make mistakes as long as you learn and grow from them. Always encouraging their dreams! #tlap
#tlap A5: ALWAYS praise the courage to volunteer an answer. No matter right/wrong, it is the seed of the discussion. Both the answer AND T response. Big picture: keep their "future self" in mind. Ask Ss who they want to become and what future-you needs now-you to do right now.
A5: I give my Ss opportunities for S choice & voice!! I give them the power to take control of their learning!! They lead convos, have daily choice in seating & help make decisions in our classroom! I let them know I trust them & encourage them to take risks! #TLAP
A5) I share with them what I struggle w/, I’m a horrible speller, they correct my spelling & I model how to be gracious & thankful for their help, understand importance of learning journey, we’re always learning & need others to help #hardtoknowhowtospelleveryword#imhuman#tlap
A5: Kindness and being a champion for each of them. I have always had a heart for all children and have believed education is the key to their dreams. I inspire by showing I care. #tlap
#tlap A5: I don't just teach Ss the content; I want them to do something with it. Therefore, I give my Ss choices about what they read and what they write about for their senior paper and their senior project.
A5: ENCOURAGEMENT! I model positivity and support, and I explicitly teach how to give a compliment and grow friendships with others so my students can be successful and use those skills anytime and anywhere! 😃😃😃 #TLAP
A5 I build relationships with them and I try to empower them. I try to listen to their voice and their story and uplift and share. I try to take them where they are and help the get to where they want to be. I show them that being themselves is important. That they matter. #tlap
A5 I don’t know that I inspire students. I try to empower them to discover what matters, and to keep working and struggling for what matters even when they don’t feel inspired.
#tlap
A5- Talk to them! Get to know them, forgive their mistakes, support their passions, say hello everyday, provide them with opportunities to think differently #tlap
A4: this has been a struggle for me. My strength is head down... get to work. I hope what I do somehow sparks a staff member to ask... what are you doing there...maybe that can start the conversation. #tlap
By speaking every morning and calling them by name! Also by attending all the events that I can that they are involved in and talking to them about it the next time I see them! By constantly being encouraging even when having to discipline them! #tlap
A5: I dare to see what others can’t. I dream what they can’t seem to fathom, not by projecting on them something they’re not, but by taking their passions to new heights. #tlap
A4 I try to be super REAL with those I serve, and I LOVE highlighting their strengths & encouraging them to be R.E.A.L. in all they do, too.

A5 I hope I inspire by communicating that we are all teachers. Some days I’m teaching, but most days I’m learning. The shift in culture is empowering. #tlap
A5: I teach them independence and give them the freedom to solve their own problems. They write on the topics of their choice, solve as they feel fit, and I started Genius Hour to hopefully inspire them to find their passions and run with it. Even at 5 and 6 years old. #tlap

A5.2 I also try to be their biggest cheerleader, and stand up for them. When students know you have their best interest at heart, they’re more willing to take risks and believe. #tlap
A3: How I create best: Follow the lead of my kids. Trusting them, really listening to their ideas, embracing their thoughts, taking their suggestions. I also have amazing colleagues to lrn alongside in our inquiry-based school. Coaching in their classes drives me, too. #tlap
A5: sometimes the greatest lessons you have with Ss are the ones that are impromptu...the ones that challenge Ss to see themselves for greater than what they think! Show that you care! #tlap
A5: I try new activities to keep learning fun & fresh. I connect standards to real-world experiences (cooking in the class, outdoor science labs, etc) #tlap
Q5: Giving them a “why” or a purpose beyond the academic lesson of the day. I get best energy from Ss when I remind them that they’re developing skills that can have the power to change lives. Not just working for a grade. #tlap
A5: Again, relationships. Work hard to be the person they think you are. Be firm, but loving. Be structured, but not rigid. Don't forget about having fun. Today I think I inspired first graders to save the earth because I dressed up like a polar bear, #TLAP
So true. Once you figure out that you cannot make students do anything you realize that you absolutely have to create a place of trust and honesty in the relationship. #TLAP

A5. Today I asked my first graders how we could teach others about our presidents. They jumped in to write a movie script. Much difficult reading and writing ahead. #tlap
A3: After working with students for 10 years, I wrote a book that explains how so many world-class qualities you can best develop in school are not explicitly taught or assessed in class #tlap
A5. Letting them know you believe in them. When introducing new things that you've never attempted, let them know that you are learning together! It's ok to fail, first attempt in learning. Make the mistake, prob. solve and fig. out what went wrong. Then cor. the err! #tlap
A6: I tend to over complicate things when I'm in the early stages of a new creative adventure. I need to learn to take a step back & accept imperfections as a part of the process #tlap
A6: Be willing to try new things, even if the outcome is failure. Be creative in how you bounce back from your failures. Let it inspire even more creativity! #TLAP
A6: Sometimes, whenever things do not go well for my lesson plans, we wing and I swear, my students are so much more creative than I could EVER imagine! They really blow me away with their creations. #tlap
A6 A mentor T once told me to just go for it. The worst that can happen is you reteach.
We are not brain surgeons. Our mistakes are not deadly, they are just life lessons. They are only mistakes if we let it stop our progress #tlap
A5: I inspire students by telling them and showing them that I believe in them. I do this on their good days and especially on their difficult days. They need to know that they matter everyday! It's the underlying theme throughout our school, "You Matter!" @diane_mackinnon#tlap
So true… All successful classrooms have one thing in common… A solid foundation of trust that was built on a strong and healthy relationship with students. #TLAP

A6: I battle my perfectionism every single day! I'm learning to prioritize, that way things that are less important are the first to go if I can't get to them. The struggle is real, though! #tlap
A5 I believe in the incredible potential in all the students I work with! I strive to empower them to ask questions, connect ideas & never give up. I try to plant seeds of curiosity & creativity, so they are inspired to think & learn more. #tlap
#tlap A6: Get over yourself. If you expect perfection, why WOULDN'T your Ss be terrified of you?! They know they aren't perfect and never will be. Ts need to model how to deal with our beautiful imperfections. How else can Ss trust that they are safe in your class?
A6 life is messy, learning is messy, growing is messy taking risk is messy. I think we all must be willing to fall down and allow ourselves to play in the mud for awhile #TLAP
A5: (2) I think #gamification has been really great for this too. If you haven't brought games into your classroom in some capacity, you really should. Here's an quick and easy one to incorporate. https://t.co/45nsp8gHwe#tlap

Ask, "What's your favorite thing to do? What do you love to do?" Then, I do my best to integrate THAT THING in the learning space. aka...how #BookSnaps was birthed. ;) #tlap

Thanks for the complement… I think as with any teacher that students connect with, they know it is a wild ride that is thrilling, but it must come to an end sometime. I say, lets make the most of that time together! #TLAP
A6: I make sure Ss know that revisions are not only allowed, but expected. Find the humor when things are not perfect and let them see that it is OK to let go. #TLAP
A5 I inspire my students by showing them that I am a learner as well...telling them that “I don’t know but we will find out!” And of course letting them teach me things! #tlap
A5 I am always honest. I teach high school so they are older but I think they deserve honesty. They respect me for it and ask me because they know I am going to be honest, there have been times the answer is 'none of your business" #tlap
A6) sometimes it’s best to let go completely. Lately instead of me trying to make the perfect graphic organizer, I’ve told my students to create one that helps them learn best. Then we share it! #tlap
A6: It’s taken a while but I’ve learned within the last year that giving up my need to be in control allows my Ss to take their learning to new levels! Giving them choice opens the door to products that surpass my expectations! They take ownership of their learning! #TLAP
A5: My Ss and I are on a journey together each year. We celebrate successes. We fail forward. We do things as a team. Throughout that time, I work hard to ensure that each child in my class knows I believe in them and I care for them #tlap
A6: Reflecting on the process and keeping the focus on growth! Nothing will ever be perfect, but if we learned something then we are still ahead! Celebrating risk, effort, and creativity keeps your students excited about learning! #tlap
#tlap A6: I always think about how can I make something better, not perfect. If I have Ss write an essay, then what are they going to do with it. What's the big picture? Read The Odyssey and at the end, design a theme park for The Odyssey.
A6 #tlap Ive had to learn to let go of complete control of my class and students and to allow them to facilitate more of their own learning as well as offer a variation of "traditional" classroom seating and "typical" leaning environments #tlap
A6: Rainy recess? Have a 20 min makerspace challenge! Grab some random stuff in your room and let the kids create a solution to a problem or make something even better. The spark of innovation will inspire everyone in the room! #tlap
A6. Keeping an eye on the positives. It is so easy as an educator I focus on missteps. I find though that they are often outweighed by so many positives. #tlap
Q6: Instead of being hard on self, bring it before your team, brainstorm to make it better and adjust/move on. It’s easier to edit a messy rough draft than a blank piece of paper. #tlap
A4: Your answer speaks volumes! Having powerful relationships w/ colleagues is crucial in lrng & growing! Had I not been surrounded by people like you 20 yrs ago when I landed at this schl, I would have been lost. I like to think of my "job" now as paying it back! #tlap
A6: Still working on this every day, but I’m trying to get rid of pre-existing ideas about what I think should be happening and just going with the flow. Sometimes the best things come from “out of nowhere” #tlap
A6: teach Ss to build off of their mistakes! Model to Ss how to overcome mistakes that you make. Ss need to be taught how to face challenges. Work with Ss to help them become their best. #tlap
A6: It will never be perfect. It is about the journey! Strap in and enjoy the ride! Constantly reflect and grow throughout the process to get better. #TLAP
A6: learning to involve and motivate others to help out helps with need for perfection and high standards...inspire those around you who have similar standards and values...#TLAP
A6 #tlap I'm a classic perfectionist who likes 100s. But I've learned through my MAT program to take risks & not be afraid to fail because that's when the greatest success comes. 100s mean nothing if you haven't pushed your own limits & tried out of box thinking #conversechat
A6: The struggle is REAL! I love being creative, but a lot of times get hung up on the little things! I think setting a timer helps knowing when to let it go and move on to the next thing! Easier said than done for sure! #TLAP
A6: I make lists! Even if something is jumbled or not completely ready, if I write it down and have steps or can break it into parts, I feel much better about my process and still fulfill the high expectations I have for myself! #tlap
A6 I love to challenge the status quo. I Love to be creative & think outside the box. I don't like "NO" & will always challenge when I believe. I am also a perfectionist. I expect great work & high standards from myself and my Ss. I will always support to make it reality. #tlap
A6: I have to intentionally off the perfection in my head and just close my eyes and jump in. I might still analyze my teaching to death afterwords...but I push myself to take the jump #tlap
A6: When my brain has said "no" to something this year I have said "yes" instead and that has given birth to student twitter chats, websites, shark tanks and more! #tlap
Toma precauciones. Autoridades capitalinas lanzan #AlertaRoja por temperaturas de -4 grados que se esperan en las delegaciones #AO#Cuaj#MC#MA y #Tlap donde se mantiene las condiciones para caída de #Aguanieve o #NevadaLigera
A5) One way I inspire students, is to let them see that I truly care about them. I also believe, that making the effort to see them participate in activities outside school makes a huge impact. #tlap
#tlap The master has made more mistakes than the novice has made attempts. --Some quote I stole. Probably from one of you on Twitter earlier this week.
A6: I’m still working on balancing all of it! As a new AP I’m struggling with time spent on my tasks and time in classrooms. Suggestions welcomed! #tlap
A6: Trying to be creative is like trying to land a man on the moon. Took a few errors before you got to where you wanted to go...Lots of new experiments & ideas along the way #tlap
A6 This one is harder for me. I am definitely Type A. I plan and sometimes get caught up in the details, rather than focus on the big picture. I am starting small and starting to make progress. #tlap
A6. Sometimes, you have to go with the flow! Perfectionism takes away from the love of learning and the love of teaching! We need to change things up, do different things! Keep the Ss curiosity guessing! #tlap
A6: By always striving to do the best each day while remembering that we are learning and that my students are children I can stay creative and take full advantage of the "do over"! #tlap
Q6: This was more difficult for me in my early years. Now, I do this by trying not to sweat the small stuff, remembering that I am not perfect and am very human, maintaining a growth mindset, working hard and doing my absolute best, and persevering through the tough times.
#tlap
A5 I believe in the incredible potential in all the students I work with! I strive to empower them to ask questions, connect ideas & never give up. I try to plant seeds of curiosity & creativity, so they are inspired to think & learn more. #tlap
A6: If I expect my classroom to be perfect I will be sorely disappointed because some things are out of our control. Strive to get an engaging, creative and successful lesson, not a perfect one. #tlap
a2: Don't wait for perfection...it ain't coming!! Perfectionism stifles creativity. Shut down the internal critic and Don't let the external ones steal your soul and courage! #tlap
A6: Using the same mindset I teach my students...it's not about being perfect it's about enjoying the experience, showing up, trying your best and getting back up when you fall. #tlap
A6 Looking at growth, encouraging risk & celebrating those first steps pushes perfection aside. Creating a culture where learning is messy & mistakes are common helps everyone grow! #tlap
A6: REMOVE THE GRADE! It’s amazing what you see in a child without the grade! Their personal standard is higher than an A! Fabulous question! This is so challenging for some Ss! #tlap
A6: Perfection used to be an issue for me. But 23 years of experience, reading professional books, and engaging in educational discussions have helped me focus on the better things. #TLAP
A6. No ones perfect. Perfection is not the goal. Its the pursuit of perfection that I am after. When you make a mistake (and you will) make it count! Swing the bat. Dont go down looking at strike 3. #tlap
A6: If I waited for perfect, I’d never take risks. I strive to create magical learning experiences, but the reality is sometimes they aren’t. If I didn’t ever jump in and take the risk, the magic would never happen. #tlap
A6: Steve Jobs used to say, "Real artists ship." It will NEVER be perfect. If you're waiting for that or using it as an excuse you'll never do sh**. #tlap#ShipIt
A6- thinking outside the box and allowing everyone a seat at the table and not be afraidto try something new! Everyone has ideas and it is ok to listen to them and if you fail at least you fail trying! #tlap
A7: I'm living and breathing this quote by @gcouros this year as I'm blessed to be part of an incredible staff who opened up a new school! So much change, so much inspiration, so much amazing! :) #tlap#InnovatorsMindset
A6- One example is allowing students to find their voice and organize their thoughts when they write before focusing on grammatical errors, they can be fixed later great strategies for teaching writing from @AngelaStockman#tlap
A7: "I have not failed, I've just found 10,000 ways that don't work." - Thomas Edison. This guy invented the lightbulb, but he also gives great inspiration for us in our attempts to try new ways to inspire Ss! #tlap@Samuel_Wallace2@MHSLewisHistory@misskoplin@MathWithMsHawes
A6: Many things I hash out in haste, creating a messy list or etc. until I can see it. Once I see it, I get to work and begin trying to perfect it. The key is that if it doesn’t work, I will throw it out and begin again. Failure is a new beginning. #tlap
A6: Remembering the perfection is often like the word fair... whose definition are we using. Most of the time you're close to perfection. It's when you view things threw the lens that others give you that you become critical. Go for it. #TLAP
A7: Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don’t matter and those who matter don’t mind.
This has been my favorite quote since high school, because we need to be ourselves, and not worry what others think of us! #tlap
A6). This is somethingI constantly struggle with. I know I will never be perfect, but I always want to do everything the right way. I don’t want to waste anyone’s time. I have to get over this. #tlap
A6 Self-compassion: treating ourselves with warmth instead of judgement, noticing the common humanity in our struggles, and staying mindful of what our situations really are instead of magnifying or minimizing them. https://t.co/jRMobghWHo#tlap
A6 Sometimes we need to turn over control to the ones who are learning...Things may not go as planned always, but keep trying...If there was a problem, yo I'll solve it #tlap@itsmeSpiri
A6: Still working on this every day, but I’m trying to get rid of pre-existing ideas about what I think should be happening and just going with the flow. Sometimes the best things come from “out of nowhere” #tlap
A6. Keeping an eye on the positives. It is so easy as an educator I focus on missteps. I find though that they are often outweighed by so many positives. #tlap
A6: The story of my life 😆 I learned from experience that creating a time frame for perfectionists with frequent progress checks along the way may help them get started and keep going until they complete their task. #tlap
A6: We are on a journey & mistakes will happen. Embrace them & learn from them. Involve your Ss in the process, but do not be afraid to implement something because it is not perfect. Try it!
#tlap
Planning a #PBL takes time & effort, but it is so nice to see students engaged & creating. I've been using my #tlap book for more inspiration this year. #Sketchnotes
✨"Creative genius is something people tend to romanticize, but the reality is not very romantic at all. Like any skill, it takes practice and effort." ✨

A1: students and educators energize me. Watching the magic happen, light bulbs turn on, and reaches do what is best for kids makes me want to do better everyday. #tlap
Another inspiring #tlap chat! Thanks to each and every one of you for making hosting tonight so amazing! Special thanks to @burgessdave for having faith in me to lead tonight and to @TaraMartinEDU for helping me prepare!
A6: Ss might let us see just a glimpse, a peek, of their iceberg selves. But, once we show them we trust them, their lrng & ideas & we say, "yes!" they reveal much more of who they are, deep beneath the surface. We all exponentially grow b/c of each other. #tlap
