HI Everyone! Welcome to #MakeItReal Chat! I'm Denis, forgetful author of Instant Relevance, and I have just one question for tonight's Chat! What is your ALL TIME FAVORITE SUB PLAN FOR WHEN YOU'RE OUT?
  • tikaee Feb 6 @ 9:33 PM EST
A1 You are a crack up @MathDenisNJ ๐Ÿ˜‚ My favorite thing to leave with my guest teacher is a huge paper heart to fill with little hearts of positive things my Ss said or did๐Ÿ˜Š #makeitreal

Spend as much time as possible outside. We've been cooped up inside for too long and the kids need to run and play! #MakeItReal

That's a great idea! It sets a very positive tone for the Guest T toward your students and their class for the day! #MakeItReal

Good one! If it works with the weather, definitely a great sub plan! #MakeItReal

Thank you. I am rarely absent, but when I am I want to ensure my Ss still have an amazing day. #MakeItReal

Seriously folks! #MakeItReal Chat is now and is just 1 question today, since I...um...kind of forgot that #MAkeItReal chat was Now!!!

A1: Write a short story about what you think Mr. Evans is doing during his time away from school. Make it school appropriate but the more interesting the better! #makeitreal

Love that too! Their creativity can be off the charts when it's focused on us! #MakeITReal

A1: Love leaving a mix of activities that can include student paced @PearDeck or @nearpod sessions, @cospaces_edu creations, or blog posts using @Wakelet that tap into their personal passions. #MakeItReal

this is a fun read by @thezenteacher on the anatomy of a mental health day https://t.co/DHTZigDo4P #MakeItReal

Can your subs handle all that stuff? #MakeItReal

I'd have my subs to this: Take students on a walk around school...loop at least 2 floors. Take pictures of things that mathematically interest them, then return and research the pics! #MakeItReal
  • SteinbrinkLaura Feb 6 @ 9:45 PM EST
Actually, two of them can, yes. The @PearDeck and @nearpod student paced mode instructions are dropped into classroom, (my sub plans are on Google Docs & subs can text me/leave notes on the doc), & then facilitate the others via Classroom or my own audio instructions. #MakeItReal

Now, I'm not sure most subs of mine could handle taking my HS Ss out and about, plus our HS building is one hallway, so if it's not great weather outside, that'd not be much of a walk. :) #MakeItReal

A1: I have an emergency sub plan unit all based on the book Click, Clack, Moo by Doreen Cronin. It was teacher created and itโ€™s great! #makeitreal
