I have a series of these sheets for Ss to analyze pros/cons of traditional teaching. Then I show how #flipclass combines the best of all worlds!

Send a flipped video about #flipclass to all parents and Ss before open house. Gets the buy in instantly. Follow up with how to do vids using in class. Then it basically takes care of itself.
A1: I try my best to explain why we're doing things different than a "normal class." When the Ss can see the benefits, it's a lot easier to buy in #flipclass#flipclasschat

A1: I model for my MS Ss how to watch and listen to my video and taking notes. I intentionally rewind myself multiple times and pause myself to get caught up. Then I ask Ss for feedback. Most were on board w/me trying to meet their learning styles in a #flipclass. #flipclasschat
Q2b If you have not felt resistance, then how WOULD you respond to it?

A1: I have had some students that have not greeted the outside learning tools very happily because they already know the LMS system at the college, but I try to show them the value of the new stuff by getting them to use it. I give lots of examples. #flipclass#flipclasschat
So for someone starting out, helping your admin team understand what #flipclass is all about before you start can be very important. My principal wants to talk to me about how to get our Ts some #flipclass PD <3! #flipclasschat
A2: Ss, especially ones that aren't as comfortable with technology have been pushing back on using some new apps becase it isn't the lms system housed on the computer like they are used to. I just make them try it on things that arent for a grade first. #flipclass#flipclasschat
BONUS I’d tell a new #flipclass T not to worry about getting it all perfect right away. You could even start by just flipping 1 lesson a week and doing the rest more traditionally while you adjust. Don’t perfastinate (procrastinate due to perfectionism). #flipclasschat
Bonus: Start small...one lesson/week/unit...It does take a lot of time and effort, so don't overwhelm yourself by trying to do too much at once #flipclass#flipclasschat
BONUS A: I would tell new Ts to #flipclass to teach the Ss how to take notes when watching a video. They don’t have to write EVERYTHING down! Teach them what is important. Or provide guided notes, like outlines. #flipclasschat

A3 I draw a lot of strength from you all here, honestly. Hopefully some Ts will get involved and be positive as I try to intro #flipclass more at my new school, but it’s always lonelier trying to be the one motivating change. #flipclasschat
A2: Not yet (today was the first day of school because of flooding in the area). A lot of the resistance I've seen seems to come from not wanting to change what they're used to. Just keep encouraging them to give it a try and show all the benefits #flipclass#flipclasschat
A3: I truly am focused on just getting more movement into my day and finding some time to focus on passion projects as well as quiet time. #flipclass#flipclasschat
A3: Professionally) Talking with you guys every week helps. I'm the only T in my school using #flipclass, so it's nice to have a PLN to bounce ideas around. Personally) My workout time is sacred to me. It's my time to unload and decompress from the day #flipclass#flipclasschat

There are a bunch of us using #flipclass. It does make it easy, but it did start with just one. @DenaKLeggett Then I couldn't resist all of the fun. #flipclasschat
Admin support had a great deal to do with the growth of #flipclass in Allen. Data on student performance and engagement during class time hooked the Ts. #flipclasschat
A4 I have never done gamification before, and realizing based on some things shared by other Ts that those strategies could help with some of the usual #flipclass obstacles was pretty cool 😎 #flipclasschat
A5 I want to improve the in-class team challenge questions. I have a few excellent ones and some that are meh (content OK, not really interesting). #flipclass#flipclasschat
A5: I want to learn how to transition Ss smoothly into apps and learning tools in a way that makes them feel like it is safe to learn & make mistakes. Also want to deepen my strength and familiarity with how to pair tools in meaningful ways for learning. #flipclass#flipclasschat
