#txed Jerry Toups HS Math Tr by Houston, TX. Making kids #AlwaysBelieve since 1990. Check out the note I got from a student today. Its a keeper. So blessed. Teaching = #AllAboutTheKids
A1 I find that the days in which I'm most stressed are the ones that I need to be the most appreciative. It's all about perspective. Paying it forward and bringing joy to my colleagues is the quickest remedy to a stressful day. #TXed
A1- I try so hard to rememberthat they’re just kids. If we are stressed and angry, they are too. I breathe, vent at lunch if I need to, put on my big girl pants, and finish the day. #txed
#TXed A1 Once you realize the meaning of this phrase, during times of stress you still need to think that you are in education for the kids. Think of all the impact you have on the future with the kids you have now. #BePositive
I need to do a better job of this. But a simple handwritten note goes a long, long way. Being a teacher is the hardest job in the world. Thank you West Avenue staff for what you do for our kids. #txed#neisdpln
Thank you. But for the work you do it is not enough. I wish I could give you all a million dollars everyday!!!! You all deserve it! Guess we'll have to settle for jeans passes. #txed.
A2- When I’m on campuses, I try to find 1 student to have a ‘real’ convo with- no matter the grade level. Stay connected. Let them know I see them. When I visit the next time, they’re excited that I remember them!! #Txed
A hug at the door every day. “Good morning.” “Glad you’re here.” And giving them snapshots into my life to show I’m human. Helps us make a connection. #TXed
#txed A2 By just sitting, listening and getting to know them. They are really interesting once you get past the raging hormones. High fives in the hallway are great as well.
A2. It is always the right thing to do to say thankful for the people around you. It not only tells them you care, but it shows that you care. #edu435#txed
A2 A hug at the door every day. “Good morning.” “Glad you’re here.” And giving them snapshots into my life to show I’m human. Helps us make a connection. #TXed
A2:I handshake, high five, or hug every morning, and tell them how glad I am that they are there. I connect with each student throughout the day just to get a chance for them to talk to me. I’m hoping they know how grateful I am to be their teacher! #txed
I tell them all the time how much I love them and care for them and how I expect them to grow up and be surgeons, because Mr. Saldana is going to need a good one in a couple of years. I hope they remember me and "cut" me a deal. #txed.
A2- I ❤️ eating lunch with our kids... I'm talking slide in and eat at their table. You learn soooo much!
Ask them about things outside of school as well!
Visit their extracurricular activities if possible! Goes s long way!
#txed
A2 greet them at the door every morning, have class discussions just about what’s going on in their lives, taking initiative to get to know simple facts about them etc. and hugging them goodbye everyday. #txed
A1: by taking a minute or two to be there for a staff member or student in need, a quick/positive note, stopping by to do a quick check in and share encouraging words! #TXed
A3. Parents work just as hard as their children do in the classrooms, its very important to show your appreciation for them. Open and fluid communication is key. #txed#edu435
#txed A3 - By just supporting them every day. Just validate daily what a difference they are making. Always nice to know that someone is in the same foxhole.
A3 I send home a lot of messages on @ClassDojo to my parents thanking them for being part of our team, for signing folders, for letting me know ‘Joe’ didn’t leave the house in a good mood. They are part of our solution. We have to find ways to appreciate them. #TXed
A2: Hugs, handshakes, high fives, smiles, calling them by name, asking what they did to be kind today, stepping into their stories, listening to understand and connect, placing Day Maker phone calls home to thank their families for them! #txed
A2: Take the time to listen, eat lunch with them, let them read you a book at daycare duty, tell them how thankful you are for them...just take the time to show them you care and are there! #TXed
#txed A2 Tell EVERY student EVERY day something positive. This note I got today is a keeper. So sad that many of our Ss don't hear anything positive about them at home. #Believe in your Ss. Be part of their activities.
A3: A principal should never miss the opportunity to acknowledge the efforts of staff & parents making sure to highlight & praise accomplishments #txed
A3- I’m the queen of door prizes. I ❤️ giving things away, making sure ppl know they are valued & their time is appreciated. Surprise visits, small gifts, texts via @RemindHQ to just say ‘Happy Thanksgiving, I’m proud of & thankful for you’ #txed
A3: I try to make sure I keep in contact with my parents, whether it’s a newsletter, phone call, or a quick chat at pickup. I want them to know that the person they spend the majorityof their day with has their best interest in mind, and I’m thankful they trus me. #txed
A3-Talk to them every chance you get. As you talk make sure to listen as well. A lot of ways we can show gratitude to our parents is to actively listen to their concerns #TXed
A3: We plan FUN connecting playtime recess-like activities for our staff; yesterday we had a Sweet Potato launch. Winning teams got Thanksgiving meal fixins. The school family that plays together stays together! #txed
A2)I like engaging them during hall duty and lunch duty. Calling them by name, asking how their classes are going, plans they have for the upcoming holiday, etc. #TXed
#txed A3 Not only should you contact the parents of students who are struggling, you should also contact the parents of students who are excelling. BE POSITIVE!
A3: For teachers: encouraging notes, treats, and just telling them but I will say this question made me realize I could definitely do more to show how thankful we are for our parents! #TXed
A3b: One year we covered classes in the afternoon between Thanksgiving and Christmas so each staff member could have time for a two-hour shopping spree. The gift of time is a huge way to thank them! #txed
A3:) I take candid pictures of the kids and send them to parents/post on @Seesaw. It may not be academically based, but parents love the chronicle. #TXed
A4. If teaching was easy then, everyone could do it. It takes heart and soul to be a great teacher, no other motivation needed. It is what we are born to do. #edu435#txed
A4 Know that even on your worst day, you are the best thing in that child’s life. Also, co-workers they are a huge piece of the puzzle. We truly love each other. #TXed
I remind myself that I am in a self selected profession. I've tried other professions and nothing gave me the satisfaction that I feel even on the hardest of days. I'm also thankful that I have the opportunity to change lives each and everyday! #txed
A4- Reminding myself that no other profession has the ability to make the difference/impact like ours does. Goes both ways whether it be + or -. 😳
Be the reason someone WANTS to go to school tomorrow. ❤️
#wematterbecausetheymatter#txed
A4: I stay thankful to be an educator by connecting with my fabulous global #pln on twitter! They get me excited about implementing the things I learn from them! #txed
A4 there’s always someone during the day to remind you of why you do what you do ... usually it’s the kid that hugs you from behind that says I ❤️❤️ u!!! #TXed
A4- always find a way to pay it forward. The further I get away from the classroom, the more Ts I connect with & pour into - hopefully it creates a ripple effect & Ss still benefit from what I have to offer. #txed
A4:) I feel the most thankful when I connect to others that are in the same boat. There’s something about not feeling alone that gives me the breather to appreciate. #TXed
A4: Teachers do really make all the difference in the life of a child. It's a blessing in itself to be able to work with tons and tons of little individuals and to prepare them for the world. #txed
A4 seeing kids succeed and light up because they are SO proud of the growth that they have made! I LOVE I️t, we change lives! I am forever thankful to have that kind of impact on the future #txed
A4: I've been a teacher, counselor, & now administrator and I never wanted to move on bc I wasn't happy. I loved each position. I find great joy in serving teachers, students, & family. I keep learning and enjoying the journey. #TXed
A4-I lost a good educator friend a few days ago. I am grateful for having the chance to know him and being able add to the joy of being an educator #TXed
I forgot to mention that i'm also thankful for working with @_emiaj_! She's become such a twitter learner! Proud of her refining her craft after hours! #TXed
I was a SAH Mom for four years, and when I was ready to go back it took my about 18 months to find a job. This is my 2nd year back. I just have to remember how it felt to be a teacher without any students. I would rather be a teacher on my worst day than not have a class. #txed
A4 there’s always someone during the day to remind you of why you do what you do ... usually it’s the kid that hugs you from behind that says I ❤️❤️ u!!! #TXed
#txed A4 As a Tr you MUST realize your job isn't about you ITS ABOUT THE KIDS! When you inspire kids to succeed it is life changing. A great Tr will produce JOY with their students.
A4 cont- also, as a parent (of 4 boys!!) I’m thankful to be a teacher every time we have the same school breaks and I don’t have to pay for childcare!! #txed
A5. Children learn by watching, if you are grateful for them and show them, then they will be grateful for others. Teachers are role models! #edu435#txed
#txed A5 ROLED MODELING PROPER BEHAVIOR is one of the greatest lessons we teach our Ss. Shower your Ss with LOVE! My goal each year is to have my Ss describe me using the Fruits of the Spirit. #LoveConquersAll
Model.... Model... Model!
Show them by being that role model! The more they see it and practice it, the more natural it will become...
#actionsSpeakLouderthanWords#txed
We have a tutor that comes in to help with interventions. After the many times the kids have heard me say Thank you to her, they now do the same every time. Model it. #TXed
A5: We wish s’s well when absent, and welcome them back when they return. I have them connect with each other in the morning and before we leave with activities called I Love You rituals, they partner up and sing a song where they have to be close to each other. #txed
A5: We teach Ss that #gratitude is a verb by giving them opportunities to give it wings. We make it visible and encourage them the express gratitude. Just this week I've gotten little notes of thanks in my box as Ts are weaving it into daily habits & routines. #txed
A5; Using an I Care card where Ss write positive comments of another or writing down gratitudes on sticky notes & putting them on the classroom door #txed
Q6 I’m so thankful for the opportunity I have to shape and mold little humans, my students this year have taught me so much in such a short amount of time #txed
Q6: The opportunity to receive an education and be able to educate and learn from students. Also thankful for the bond that is created with children in the process. #txed
A6: I am so thankful to be on a campus where we work together to build each other up. We all know we are all here for the kids, so having a support system full of other “experts” makes our job so much better! #txed
Q6. As a student teacher, I am most grateful for my professors who go out of there way to make sure each student knows the material. I have the best professors who demonstrate what it means to be a great teacher everyday. @SNHUOnCampus@snhuschoolofed#edu435#txed
A6: I am thankful every day for the opportunity to be a joy-maker and to positively inspire and influence those around me to #choosejoy and be kind to one another. How we treat each other matters! #txed
A6 The days that we see progress. The days that we learn from each other and tackle something difficult. The days we meet in the parking lot to vent. The days that your students finally understand that they drive this life bus. #TXed
#txed A6: Thankful to be working with such an amazing group of people! People who truly care about others and would do anything to support students and fellow staff members! A true school family!
A6:being an educator, I'm thankful for the amazing opportunity we have to impact & inspire students. The staff in the schools I went to were some of the most influential people for me. How great is it that we get to be that for our students? #TXed
#txed A6 As a teacher I am most thankful for the kids that are in my room, and in my school, and even community. Being part of a childs most happiest moments = the real treausre of life.
A6 seeing how my students grow and mature. there is no other job where my every action can truly impact so many lives for the better or worse. It’s a responsibility to not be taken lightly! #txEd
Many thanks #TXed friends. Enjoy these last few days before Thanksgiving. We will not be chatting next Wednesday. Enjoy the time with your family and eat a lot of turkey. #FinishStrong
#txed A6 This book, currently in the hands of a publisher, is my powerful story / testiomony of making not just kids, but an entire community to BELIEVE! Hopefully it will be printed this spring. #Thankful
#txed A6 If you got 6 minutes, this is an amazing video of the impact I was able to make on Dayton, TX, where I taught for 20 years. So thankful to be part of this #AmazingMemories with the kids. #AlwaysBelievehttps://t.co/H1n2oPC6Lp
