Q2 If you could create a superhero educator what would the superhero identity be? What powers and/or abilities would the superhero educator have? #MoEdChat
A2 Fictional superhero educator: The Dreamer - a cross between Paulo Freire, Walt Disney, Ms. Frizzle, and Ken Robinson. The Dreamer would always be passionate about her topics, care about Ss, and teach to Ss futures to make the world a better place. #moedchat
A2 #moedchat I'd want some X-men style mind reading power...when Ss have hard time getting their knowledge across I can see their thinking (or when they don't show their work!) I also teach MS so I can HONESTLY know "What were they thinking?!" when they do silly MS stuff! ;)
Q2. Well that’s easy...I work with superheroes everyday @VizLowerSchool They are kind, creative, flexible, and not smart but also not afraid to fail. We are a team! #MoEdChat

A2 - Someone’s going to have to think of a cool name for me...powers = Tact great w Ps,Ss,Ts. Uber techy, fearless in the classroom, ability to relate any topic to great real world problems/situations, always revising for improvement. Accepting of feedback & can fly! #moedchat
A3 The Dreamer, my fictional superhero would wrestle with the “We’ve always done it this way” crowd. She would model superhero levels of positivity, creativity, and passion. #moedchat
A3 they may face doubters or people that don’t understand their modern methods. They will overcome this by being relentless pursuers of growth and making the nay sayers the work #MOedchat
A3: I think any of the superhero educators mentioned will have to overcome negativity, burnout/stress, things out of our control, complacency, and doubt. #moedchat
A3b for real, meeting individual needs of an entire school is a challenge for anyone with or without super powers. But, staying focused on the mission and grouping kids' needs can help #MOedchat
Q3: Captain Equity battles poverty, discrimination, abuse, neglect, disability & all other obstacles by making sure kids feel safe, are fed, & have the right instruction, accommodations and modifications to overcome challenges #MOedchat
A3: Many superheroes are seen as threats, even by the people they are trying to help. You need the ability to stay true to a mission and continue with what you know is right. #moedchat
Kids, when around the superhero educator I create, would SEE their own strengths and each others' strengths first and foremost, their lens on the world--and they'd base their self-identify on their strengths! #moedchat#celebrate#celebratemoedchat#sharemoedu#resiliencechat
Q2 If you could create a superhero educator what would the superhero identity be? What powers and/or abilities would the superhero educator have? #MoEdChat
A4: I can practice reframing (situations, perspectives, problem behaviors, obstacles) to show more empathy and help Ts and Ss find their passions, strengths, and #unlockpotential! #moedchat
YES! I think having a PLN to lean on, celebrate with, and share our stories with can seriously help with all of these obstacles. I know it is been AMAZING for me personally! #moedchat
A4: #moedchat I know I'm not a Mind reader Maven, but I CAN strive to be more in tune with my ss, Ts, and Ps behaviors and really listen more to be able to best meet their needs as a whole person.
A4: You need to bring a piece of your superhuman self everyday into the classroom so students can also empathize with you. I do this through music. #moedchathttps://t.co/tIu73TVeP9
A4: Remeber you don’t have to be a superhero ALL of the time. There are lots of times when the superheroes are “normal” and only use their powers when called on. You have to recharge to save the day again. #moedchat
Q4: Teachers need to have an understanding of their students’ personal strengths and weaknesses, the communities their students live in, & the people they live with. Quality differentiation is more than just altering material. #MoEdChat
A4: You need to bring a piece of your superhuman self everyday into the classroom so students can also empathize with you. I do this through music. #moedchathttps://t.co/tIu73TVeP9
This song!!! Bringing music brings YOU. 🎼
Music feeds the soul and activates the brain -- thinking and emotional parts. Emotions are the heart of learning. #moedchat
A5: Someone who will stick around when things get tough, consistent, someone who knows what Ss need, someone who is caring and knows when to swoop in (even if they don't always know when to ask for help). #moedchat
Q5: Students need to know that their superhero educators are also human. We have opinions. We make mistakes. We get frustrated sometimes. But we learn & grow. Superheroes need to model perseverance. #MoEdChat
A5: #moedchat Ss want someone who genuinely cares about them who sees them for the whole person and has "super strength" to lift them up academiaclly and emotionally. Be the class they would "buy a ticket" for as @burgessdave says! :)
A6 build relationships find out what their passion is and help them share those gifts, help facilitate their ability to problem solve and reflect. Have them practice creativity and encourage it. Encourage them to fail and get up again #MOedchat
A6 by lifting them up! Tell them that you believe in them and that they are strong enough to do it. You never know what's going on in their life, be that positive voice for them #MOedchat
Q6: We need to coach our students. Teach them about their strengths and weaknesses. Help them take that knowledge & mold their strengths into their super powers. #MOEdChat
