A1: Leading from the heart takes... relationships/community.
With relationships/community there is trust and with trust leading from the heart is always seen as genuine.
#122edchat
A1: Leading from the heart takes:
~ COURAGE,
~ TENACITY,
~ BOLDNESS,
~ CREATIVITY,
~ STUBBORNNESS,
~ PATIENCE,
~ RESILIENCE,
~ INNOVATION,
~ PASSION,
~ FIRE,
~ VISION,
~ EMOTION....
Plus so many more characteristics. It is too difficult to pick just one. #122edchat
A1 Leading from the heart takes self-compassion—so that when we inevitably mess up in areas that matter to us, we can acknowledge our humanity, make repairs, and move on. #122edchat
Yes! Reflection is such an essential component of what we do each day. If we are not looking back, it is difficult to make forward progress. #122edchat
courage.
Trusting yourself that you are doing what the Ss need in spite of those saying "I wouldn't..." or "We don't..." or "That's not how..." is not easy.
Being bold enough to actually do it is even less easy.
#122edchat
A1 leading from the heart takes courage & tenacity to not give into what’s simple, status quo, or what’s more convenient it’s leading with the #WholeChild in mind #122edchat
Humility. We can't be about ego + vanity because, often, our work requires us to give our all even when someone else won't or can't. We control ourselves, not others, so we can't reduce the relationships we built to transactions in teaching + school leadership. #122EdChat
A2: Leading from the heart influences other because PASSION is palpable. It's inspiring, motivating and encouraging to hear someone truly speak and lead from their heart. #122edchat
A2- If you are going to influence others, relationships are so important. When you lead from the heart, relationships seem to develop naturally. #122edchat
A2: Leading from the heart shows people that there is another way to "do" school. The product we've been serving for yrs (in many places) is essentially reheated leftovers. It ignites passion for innovation & creativity, & causes Ss & Ts to fall in love w/school again. #122edchat
I agree. Time to reflect makes a big difference in how we enhance teaching and learning in our impact areas. More impactful when reflection is both individual and collaborative! #122edchat
Such a great word! Reminds me of my high school football coach. He would always scream about gumption...we didn't know what he meant. We thought he was talking about Forrest Gump. Ha. #122edchat
A2: We forget (well I do) that we are dealing with living and breathing humans, not robots. Sometimes looking at data and research are great but they can dehumanize the work we do, merely regulating people to numbers. Pass or fail. Leading from the heart combats this. #122edchat
A2: Leading from the heart shows others that things can still be accomplished when having to meet Ss needs through different teaching styles and/or integration of different mediums #122edchat
A2 - a good portion of my Ss have had traumatic experiences throughout their school years. My hope is it influences others with how to respond to those Ss to help them make progress #122edchat
A2~
~shows them that love does conquer all & people always seem to gravitate towards others who love them unconditionally & would move mountains to show their mutual admiration 💕
#122EdChat
Leading from the heart boosts morale in both students and teachers. Relationships with students AND teachers will ultimately result in greater success rates. Being led by someone who truly shows their care on their sleeve is motivating! #122EdChat
A2: showing others you are committed to bringing it everyday and helping them grow and become better can influence and inspire great relationships and lifelong learning. #122edchat
Sorry I’m late! Looking for the scene in “Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion” where Romy is dancing and Michelle says, “that hurt but it looked really good.” Bc that would explain PT today. This weekend was 3/3 times when I said, “I want to walk by” and I’m not.#122edchat
A2: It inspires others to trust their own hearts, to take risks, to be transparent, to fail and succeed out loud because both are moments for growth. #122edchat
A2 leading from the heart inspires others to go all in, hold nothing back! It helps to put the wind back in the sails of folks!! Education is tough & so sometimes we are that breath of fresh air for our colleagues, we are all in this together #122edchat
A2 Energy and passion is contagious. Leading with the heart inspires and is human centered. We show our true selves and become vulnerable in the act of sharing. #122edchat
A2 - I think this is about being a positive role model and actually modeling actions and words that show kindness, respect, heart and most importantly that you LOVE TEACHING and LEARNING #122edchat
A2: As instructional leaders, everyone sees your every action. People know when you genuinely care about students and others. Leaders set the tone, pace and culture of a school, but the most important factor is that they care about everyone. #122edchat
A3: Leading from the heart creates trust which leads to authentic conversations and a greater willingness to pour ourselves into collaborative partnerships without hesitation. #122EdChat
A3: Benefits of leading from the heart include increased engagement from those in your charge, a sense of community, and lowered stress / anxiety - because you LOVE what you are doing! #122edchat
A3- Leading from the heart has so many benefits! You will build a support system- people to learn, vent, and talk through things with. When you share your passion and care for others, you will feel more fulfilled. #122edchat
A2
❤❤❤
I love this question I think leading From The Heart Makes You vulnerable but it makes you honest and it makes you trustworthy and it lets people know you're human and you are open to listening to understanding to caring and to leading With Honor
#122edchat
A3: So many...
~ Creates an opportunity to foster deeper relationship connections w/others.
~ What is produced has greater value & will stand the test of time.
~ Less "sit and get" mentality toward school.
~ It repeatable. Others will feed off of your passion. #122edchat
A2: Leading from the heart builds trust, builds relationships, builds teams, builds a positive school culture, builds friendships, builds empathy, builds compassion, and builds hope. #122edchat
If humility guides our work, we can develop an empathetic environment that's radical in its softness. People are seen beyond what they can do + for who they are + we can provide everyone a sense of dignity in every interaction that tells them they're valid + valued. #122EdChat
In both of these questions students and colleagues know who leads with heart and who doesn’t. You can’t fake it. It’s why some educators are truly loved and a few are just there. #122edchat
A3: Advocating never stops, meeting Ss needs never stops, keeping Ts aware of Ss w/ special needs never stops, & most importantly...Ss FEELING INCLUDED never stops! #122edchat
Gaining true, authentic relationships. Watching others lead from the heart in your example. Noticing that people are more willing and positive about getting tasks accomplished, because they know you care. #122EdChat
A3: Leading from the heart creates relationships and trust between all involved and allows those on the team to step into leadership roles which only strengthens the community. #122edchat
A3 benefits of leading from the heart help to build an authentic culture for your campus, class, wherever your area of influence is, it allows us to be vulnerable & let others know they too can be vulnerable, growth happens when there is an organic connection #122edchat
A2: Everyone benefits. When we lead with the heart, we respond with love and understanding and compassion and empathy rather than anger, jealousy, etc #122edchat
A3 If you are leading someone or something and your heart is not in it than it really isn’t working for you or those you lead. I am a very logical concrete thinker but in all big decisions my heart is what guides that final decision. #122edchat
A3: As a teacher, when I see an admin extend kindness and empathy, I want to do all I can to promote and help where I can. I also see that when I treat my Ss as such, Ss go above and beyond for me and others. #122edchat
A3 - it’s the essenceof building relationships. When people know you are genuine they are drawn to you and want to work together. That’s how great things happen in schools #122edchat
And as the great and powerful @arielsacks and @JoyKirr reminded me the other day - research is great, but it doesn't mean we can't or should experiment and take chances in our classroom. The living breathing humans in the room deserve This can be my blindspot at times. #122edchat
Leading from the heart allows us to see the best in other people, assuming good will + giving them the benefit of the doubt, things we all need sometimes. We start to see ourselves not in competition with those around us, but cooperation. It reframes everything! #122EdChat
Hope you can make it next week! We are going to have a twist! Student created Qs to reflect on! I gathered Qs from Ss of all ages and they are POWERFUL! #champforkids#122edchat
A3) When you lead from the heart you are leading from a place of love and often times people know that and when they do they respond better to it. #122edchat
A4: I remember a time when I chose to listen instead of speaking because I realized the speaker wasn't looking for solutions. The speaker was looking for a safe place to vent. #122edchat
A4: I lead from the heart every time I talk about STEM education. I feel so passionate about what our kids today deserve, so it's easy for me to lead in this manner when that is my focus. #122edchat
A3 - 10 below
1. Less discipline issues
2. Better academics
3. Greater buy in
4. More enjoyment
5 culture building
6. Less stress
7. More actual learning

A3
❤❤❤
When you lead from the heart you gain trust respect and loyalty
When you show your vulnerability
Others will not think you are soft they will think you are human
#122edchat
A4: Each day, there are moments where I can operate as a "dad" at school. I am able to have "real talk" conversations w/Ss to call them to a higher level by connecting my story to theirs. I want them to win and love being here. If I can get them to buy-in, we all win. #122edchat
A4: Instead of simply proposing and presenting at a local conference on my own... I submitted no solo proposals and, instead reached out to amazing colleagues to present with.
#122edchat
A3: alignment. Buy-in. Good things will happen.
Plus - life is more fun. You can be in the moment.
Where is a learners heart? We should know. And they should have ample opportunity to let us know.
#122edchat
A4. Sometimes you have to put content aside. Sometimes a colleague just needs to talk. Be an ear or a shoulder. I have been fortunate to have done this many times. And they have been to best moments. #122edchat
A4 One example of when I led from the heart was when I invited a group of middle schoolers to share topics they wished they could learn about in school. #122edchat
A4 - working with schools to do anti-bullying and anti-racism work, I would share my personal stories in order to build empathy and understanding #empathy#equity#122edchat
A3: Leading from the heart creates positive relationships that result in a positive environment for adults to teach in and kids to learn in. Everyone wins! #122edchat
A4: I had one on one blog conferences today with students. I was able to provide feedback. This also led to some great conversations and teachable moments. #122edchat
A4 this year I transitioned from central administration to campus administration & this whole year has been leading from the heart for me so that the staff, Ss, Families & Community can see what I stand for & the passion I have for wanting to support the #WholeChild#122edchat
A4: When I've talked to colleagues about the importance of placing oneself in a particular S's shoes during a behavior or difficulty with learning to better understand it's what's going on internally that we should focus more on, not externally #122edchat
A4) When I create lessons I enjoy and I am excited about like today then my ss respond positively "Miss Lee I love this lesson!" ALSO when I take time to have those one on one conversations with my ss about life. #122edchat
A2: Leading from the heart models a commitment to doing what you believe is right, building relationships, and inviting others to join you in the journey toward the betterment of all. Bettering yourself and betting others because you are leading with purpose. #122edchat
A4: I saw a new teacher teammate struggling with a lesson he adapted from something I did in my class. There were a few hiccups and I could see the frustration on his face. I just stepped out into the hallway and listened to what was going on, just so he could vent. #122edchat
Providing useful, relevant feedback to others, even if they have more experience than I do! By giving respectful, attainable feedback people know you truly care, even when you ask them to try new things! #122EdChat
A4~
~pretty much all day every day ... ❤️😊😊the littles deserve an open ❤️, experiences that help them open theirs & learn how to love deeply 💕
#122edchat
A4 - my #alted Ss are using #designthinking for their current project. The first step is #empathy. It took quite a while to model and engage them to really empathize. After some time they figured it out which helped their projects immensely. #122edchat
A4 - I try each day to lead with heart. Greeting every student as they enter, saying “great to see you!” Just showing others that I love being able to share health and wellness. #122edchat
A5: We cannot be content w/just crossing the finish line after we complete one goal. We need to be actively seeking how to tweak & make it better for the next group that we connect with. We cannot allow the haters to get in our way, & dissuade us from making change. #122edchat
A5- I try to make connections with staff, students, and families whenever I can. Starting conversations and learning more about them as people makes work more fun! #122edchat
A4: At the beginning of the year, I took some of my teachers to do a block walk and visited some of our students and parents. The parents were surprised and humbled that we took the time to visit their homes. #122edchat
A4: Had a parent who was having suicidal thoughts, and confided in me. I gave that parent my cell, and told said parent that I would be sending resource officer for welfare checks and also calling to talk. Two weeks of doing this...said parent became my friend.
#122edchat
Leave one note to a random staff member weekly. Give specific, positive feedback on what they’ve been doing. This way they know someone is watching and noticing their hard work! #122EdChat
A5: I plan to take steps to incorporate my Google Innovator (#GoogleEI) project (https://t.co/egRuyPQRcM) as a non-profit to start helping schools in need ASAP for little or no cost.
#122edchat

A4 In listening to a colleague. I do not have the right answers but being available to listen, empathize, and springboard into ideation makes all the difference. #122edchat

❤❤❤
Be a good listener take a pause and truly pay attention to others
As the Tech coach I take opportunities to visit every class & check in on the teachers offer them a break a cup of coffee to co-teach a piece of candy whatever it takes

A4 cont.. I’m over 7th grade & we hit a reset on January 8th.. spent a couple of days reflecting on how I wanted to deliver my message and so I shared my Why I left central office to come back to a campus, super powerful, we are seeing results in strides #122edchat

A4 I think I led from the heart when I started seeking ways to teach which made my students feel heard and valued and respected. And being explicit about that to encourage them to treat others the same way. #122edchat
A5 I’m looking to have students work in groups to share their This I Believe essays as mini podcast episodes so people can hear their beautiful insights. #122edchat
Hope to see the #122edchat crowd next Tuesday 8est when I put a little twist on #champforkids! Qs from Ss of all ages... “what do you want to ask your teacher?” Let’s get ready to reflect on our practices as we dig into what kids are wondering!
A3:
⭐️ Authenticity
⭐️ Purpose Driven
⭐️ People Focused
⭐️ Motivation of Yourself and Others
“Truly effective and inspiring leaders aren’t actually driven to lead people; they are driven to serve them.” @simonsinek#122edchat
a5: I plan to continue to do my best every day. To continue to create a culture where students feel cared for and challenged, and to be kind to as many people as possible. #122edchat
A5: model after what I see others do. I feel like this is an area I am weak. I’m funny and the ss know I won’t yell at them, but not so good at being there for staff members. Great at listening to ss stories. Not so good with adults. But I have great role models! #122edchat

A4: I lead with my heart in the way I interact with the people I work with. I work to be transparent about my beliefs and provide feedback to teachers with their best interests in mind. I approach every situation through the lens of what’s best for kids. #122edchat
#122edchat- I know you all care... 😂but I FOUND IT!! But mine was way mores anticlimactic than this... 😬 That hurt. But it looked really good. - https://t.co/Jkth6fmd7b
