Q1: Besides a much needed rest, what are your plans for Summer PD?

A1: I'm participating in a book club this summer

A1: I am not resting. I am currently working on my Texas certification. So i'll be attending a plethora of job fairs in Texas.

A1: Looking forward to in San Antonio and a lot of reading!

book clubs are always good not joing a club but I want to do some reading

Q2: Why is it important for Educators especially Urban Educators to seek out Summer PD?

A2: To stay abreast of what's happening in the world of education. That's hard to do during the school year.

A2 our kids change every year and as a teacher you have to be ready and knowledgeable for the new learning styles

A2: It's important for urban educators to seek summer PD because there are so few opportunities for us

true but we need to have a balance to participate in the school year as well. Some Ts do summer PD just 4 credit.

Q3: How do you plan to use your Summer PD to reach your new students?

A2: Most professional development training do not address the needs of the urban educator.

A2 I want to grow in my understanding of how our students learn today and meet them where they are

A2: To grow as a professional. It's important for all educators to hone their craft. I try to model this for my T's
-
I agree. Our district had in-house PD; it's not the same as choosing your own during the summer.

A2 I have to continue to learn to get my students to buy into learning and find new ways to engage my students

A3 accountability and buy into how much fun they can have while learning

A3 get Ss excited about learning and taking ownership in their learning

A3: I am attending PD's that deal with questioning and academic conversations. This is key to help our students and teachers.

Q4: What do you hope to change on your campus or in your classroom as a result of you attending Summer PD?

A4 how Ts feel about using technology in the class through modeling in my class

A4: I want to keep expanding my knowledge of how tech can impact learning. The playing field is still uneven in that area.

Q5: How do you plan on using Twitter as part of your Summer PD?

. Agree 100%. I definitely had to "fight" so my Ss could have digital opportunities at school. Long way to go.

A4. My summer pd includes 7 EdD hours, presenting at the state behav. conf., and getting info of fresh ideas for my Ss.

A4 I want to reach my parents too I saw the impact it had on my parents this year 30 Ss had their own devices

A5: This is my first summer as a tweep. I wonder what chats will still happen?

We will still have our chat. We will only take 2 weeks off.

A5 obtaining new followers to learn more and find new resources for my class to implement

A5. I have found more ideas and friends on Twitter than many outlets. I love the new ideas and love for all students.

Q5: Definitely need to step up my Twitter participation so I'm finding and joining more chats.

Q6: What area(s) do you want to focus on to grow during your Summer PD?

A6: This summer I want to focus on literacy in math and STEM.

A6: I want to attend a workshop/pd that shows how to teach the urban and/or esl student.

. One day I'll tell the story of having a class set of iPads w/ no Internet access. I'm still SMH.

A7: Meeting folks, learning stuff, and sharing ideas.
