A1: Next year, as a 1st year teacher, I plan on transforming my classroom based on what we are studying. I have been so inspired by @RaeHughart and want to create at least one unit using the @thegridmethod so that I can create a meaningful learning experience. #tlap
A1. Man this is a good question. I am really picking my brain.
So, to create the red carpet atmosphere, make each student feel like a ROCK STAR every single day. Even if they have to stumble and productively struggle, brag on their accomplishments. #tlap
A1: For my teachers, I went missing on the 1st work day back & created a video like I was captured by pirates. They had to do a scavenger hunt around the school to find me! IT WAS AWESOME! #tlap

A1:Our front office has done a great job of creating an engaging backdrop all year (Olympics, winter wonderland,Thksgiving). It is a warm environment for Ss to walk into. We also set up a huge inflatable this year playing music to welcome Ss in for #daringdecember#tlap
A1: My favorite one is probably when I have my students build trenches in my room during WWI. We flip desks and everything. I turn the lights on and off to show the passing of time before we start the war. Students love it! #tlap
A1 We turned my class into Yorktown by flipping desk over and creating bunkers and ships, we turned our hallways into different biomes, we created a ship to discuss migration theories #tlap

A1: I believe "gift wrapping" a room is a great way to increase participation and questions from students. The concept can be done by posting student work, pictures, posters, etc. Making sure they connect with the concept which is being taught. #tlap
A1: When presenting our class made music video, I rolled out “red carpet” using red butcher paper. Since the kids were the stars, script writers, and choreographers, they got to celebrate by walking in in-style! #tlap

A1: Hmmm, well I try to greet my kiddos at the door, they are Freshmen, so the cool approach seems to work. Consistency, I am just consistent, how was your weekend, high fives, fist bumps, how was your game. #TLAP
A1. We do this with our SOAR awards each year for our Ss. When they test in dist, prof., etc. we hand out metals, have paparazi, red carpet rolled out! Fancy attire worn! Special occasion! #tlap

✨A1: Paper over the walls, table cloths, and various lighting effects are my top 3 must haves in a room transformation. Low cost, but high impact!✨ #TLAP
A1 This year, I'm trying new things with room transformations. I painted some glow in the dark planets and cut out stars to hang tomorrow for our new unit on the solar system. #TLAP
A1: I have turned my room into a lunar landing, a sixties party, Ellis Island, Salem Witchcraft Trials, the lair of the Red Scare super villain, a boot camp obstacle course, a courtroom, Ford's Theater, and MORE!! #tlap Transform the space!
We use gamification in my classroom! I transform my room into a jungle complete with bulletin board trees and fake plants everywhere! Ilk try and find a picture. :) #tlap
I clapped in my 6th graders since they were clapped out of their elementary school. DId it for the first time this year and it was awesome! Great way to keep the district together! #tlap
A:1 we designed forts with our desks completely tearing apart the classroom. Then we had a marshmallow battle to see whose fort was the best design! #tlap
A1 I want lights, cameras, their oictures and headshots and a round stage in my class that can be used to promote voice and celebration. Students need to live moments of joy, gratitude & celebrations to honor their learning. Use Ss to help design ideas. #tlap

A1: I'm not so good at decorating the classroom for what we're studying, but I roll out the red carpet and put the spotlight on my students when I can. I make space to display their work, in the room and online. #tlap

A1: in general, I love having my desks grouped to encourage collaboration, and to have Ss help one another. I love when I see my Ss helping each other! We are a mini learning community. #tlap
A1: As students enter, I set the tone by “audio design”. Finding the right song for students to enter the room to has always been something I take seriously (maybe too seriously 😂) I will often ask myself “What message do you want to convey today?” before picking a jam. #tlap
Movie stars get lots of media attention from the reporters and paparazzi as they make their way down the red carpet. 📸
Q2: How could you bring local & global media atten to your “red carpet” experience?
#TLAP
A1: I have used a “red carpet” before, each S walked down like the superstar they are! We cheer one another on for our accomplishments and efforts, every day, with our microphone and songs handy! My next project for our room is going to be a stage, with lights! #tlap
I clapped in my 6th graders since they were clapped out of their elementary school. DId it for the first time this year and it was awesome! Great way to keep the district together! #tlap
A1: created a crime scene when we were writing narratives and developing characters (suspects) & recently created a courtroom for a mock trial! (complete with robe and gavel too!) #tlap
A1: I have a special red sparkle chair! Whenever students bring in a family project or have something to show the class they get to sit in the "red share chair" they know the spotlight is on them when they're in the share chair! It's their time to shine like a star! ⭐️#TLAP
A1: with my HP theme this year I have “hour glasses” with house points displayed, a sorting hat, and ASMR HP rooms on for ambiance, both setting and sound #tlap

Same here, I gamified a class with a storyline and set my online class up to fit the content - but I'm terrible at setting my physical room up in a way that reflects what we're studying. #tlap
A1: Could be as simple as draping fabric over tables and create a "time machine" for a breakout.
Students crawled through it to travel to the middle ages! #tlap
A2: Invite your district communications specialist, local TV stations to take part in the event. Create a Twitter # that those in attendance can tweet to and tag your district & others that would spread the word.

Always fun joining #tlap with you at the helm, Tisha! Hoping to host #tlap one day myself (I'm dreamin' 😁)
Scott from NJ and I won't lie, I'm not much of an Academy Awards guy.
A1: To introduce the Proclamation of 1763, it’s great when I put up caution tape and have 20 or more Ss crammed into 1/4th of the room. I try to play off the caution tape like something is wrong with the ceiling tiles - I’m a bad liar. #tlap
A1: I recently created a football field for our Super Bowl Math Showdown! Also love doing the crime scene for our C.O.P.S. grammar stations!! Love room transformations! #TLAP
A1- I think you can set the stage by creating a room that is homey and inviting. We are all in these rooms for 9 months so they better be something we would like to be in. Accent lighting, comfy spots, rugs, pillows, flex seating/standing #TLAP
A1: Oh! And a bad ass Speakeasy!! Tips: Music, lighting, props, special entries, remove disks if needed, create walls inside the room with drop down cloths, even use space outside the room. Cover walls to create blank canvas and then add on top #tlap
A2: I would try to share what I am doing on social media such as Twitter and Instagram. I would like to get local communities to help out and have community outreach like, once again, @RaeHughart does. #tlap
A 1: Imagining my classroom for next year as I plan my return, and my mind drifts here often. I reallly want to try #flexibleseating with high schoolers but don't know many English teachers that have tried it. I think kids would feel like stars (and trusted almost-adults). #tlap
A:1 one other activity we did this year is allowing the kids to design the classroom. One suggested the ceiling tiles. So they each drew their favorite book cover on the tiles and now our ceiling is fantabulous! #tlap
Me too! I helped power wash the outside of the building and all of the bathrooms...You should do something awesome, it was a great start to our year for sure! #tlap
A1 We read Hatchet last year so I locked my students out, turned off the lights, & played nature sounds. They searched the room for QR codes that lead them on a survival quest. It wasn't a total transformation but it was awesome. #tlaphttps://t.co/z8LzveKCjH
A1. We do a Walk of Champions. Not just sports but other areas. The kids say they hate it. But they really enjoy being acknowledged for their accomplishments. #tlap
I would appreciate you sharing your reason why you think pre-service teachers should connect on Twitter and if you have been impacted by my Twitter usage in anyway. I want to share this with my college of education and my professors. Thank you!

A1) To create the Red Carpet treatment I'm challenging myself to greet as many students possible by name as they enter each class, intentional use of music to set tone and arranging desks differently creates Ss interest. #tlap
A1: Right now I have been playing music and greeting students in the parking lot at school and I have dressed in costumes but always looking for ideas to change it up and keep students guessing in the mornings #TLAP
1) The red carpet experience begins when the limo door is opened. At school, open car doors, cheer as buses unload, play music, pull a @BethHouf and put on a show out front 🎵🎶, use a microphone and announce kids as they arrive. Their attendance at the event matters. #tlap

#TLAP I agree. Transformations can be amazing, but kids can be engaged if they see the relevance in what they are learning. Went into a class recently and the students led the discussion. It was so exciting to hear the academic discussion!!!
Hello #tlap crew! I'm Kristen, Elementary Principal from NC, jumping in a little late! Missed the Academy Awards but enjoyed seeing all of the highlights this evening. #weareaycock
A2: I post about it on my website, make invites for parents, ask principals or other staff to come, and reach out to the superintendent or mayor to make a special guest appearance! Asking kiddos to write a letter to a famous person to come helps with writing skills, too! #tlap
Oh wow, if you only knew the significance of "FTF" in my life, lol. Now we have to meet up, so I can share the FTF story. Next time we're down that way we'll come bug ya! #TLAP

A1: My favorite one is probably when I have my students build trenches in my room during WWI. We flip desks and everything. I turn the lights on and off to show the passing of time before we start the war. Students love it! #tlap
A1: In all you do, “go big or go home” attitude. Their learning comes from how you present it. How well you create an experience they will enjoy and remember. These are where the connections occur. I defibitely@have to work on this factor..: #tlap
A2: With science, I have tried to get a meterologist to Skype with us, but they never respond to me! NEVER! I’m now working with an AWESOME parent who has connections with @space_tango! We are going to get these kids interested in #aerospace! #tlap
A2: We do our best to promote on Twitter and Facebook. We have local newspapers and a media specialist promote for the district. Patron newsletters highlight happenings. Our boosterthon fundraiser last year got attention (a donation) from all 50 States! #tlap
A2 We have a class twitter & class FB page to share out photos & info of what we're doing in class. Try to tag authors & experts when appropriate. #tlap
A2: We have to tell our story through social media for the message to get out there. I teach high school, but even they can't help but smile a little when I tell them I posted their work on Twitter or on my website. #tlap

A2 - One other thing. Just a caution note. It’s easy to go crazy with decor. I’ve learned to be careful about too much sensory overload. It should always have a “Why” value. #tlap
✨A3: @DebDitoro and I love to pre-heat the grill by asking students to dress a certain way for class the day of our main event! We send out Remind messages, but keep the "why" hush-hush! It's so fun, and adds a ton of sparkle!✨#TLAPhttps://t.co/BHvKb8qLXw
Q3: I'm all about fun shirts, props, & flair on a normal day! For my current penguin Olympics STEM project I'm wearing my hat and scarf & using a mic like I'm a winter sports commentator! #tlap
Hey Roman, amazing—and look what I just got in the mail today!! EEEEK!😆❤️ From our fave little people...
Thank you, @bmilla84 ! I’ll be modeling the T-shirt and sending another tweet for my little friends.😍❤️
*smiling to the ears*😁☺️❤️

A3: Dress up like your favorite character Friday! Last year I went as Pete the Cat-ROBO PETE. @renathunderhawk and I acted out the book for Ss. So much fun to dive in. #tlap
A3: I used to set up my 1st grade room like a plan every month as we traveled to the 7 continents. Kids has suitcases/tickets, I was the pilot (w/costume), & a mom was my flight attendant to pass out snacks. We took off, acted it all out, inflight movie, and more! #tlap
A2: Invite local newspapers & tv stations, also a radio DJ to a “finals” performance at the end of the school year and show my students they can be stars!

A3b: I have to admit that one year I dressed up as Miss Havisham from Great Expectations. It created quite a buzz with students who weren't even mine. We ate cake and had a blast. They asked me whatever question they would have asked her. Great Experience. #tlap

A3: My student wear 'lab coats' every time we do a science experiment. (Lab coats are white t-shirts from Goodwill.)
And I use sentence strips to keep on any mask we make. #TLAP
A3: As a math teacher, this can be tricky. I have nerdy math-themed shirts to wear when I teach various concepts. I also like to wear my Lego shirt on days we are in the Makerspace. #tlap
A3 I like the idea of being subtle. Not making the costume connection too obvious. When a student does make the connection it's a fun AHA moment. 😉#Tlap

For the 1st time last year my entire school clapped out the 8th graders in a hallway procession. It was amazing. Teachers and students were cheering, crying, and hugging! So powerful.
A3 Dressed up & talked like a robot for our coding unit, King George got into a loud debate with Ben Franklin & Johm Adams, Smitty the Bear shared about how fires impact our environment #tlap
A3: We dressed as 100 year olds on day 100. I have given Ss safety vests, glasses &hard hats to use in block building center & word construction center. A colleague just shared that she calls her Ss Wordkers when they build words with construction hats! #TLAP@roni88327822
I think something relatively small but noticeable is doable for the teacher! A crown, a string of "jewels", a cape, a fedora, whatever! And a basket of photo props and dollar store accessories for students to pick from. #tlap
A3: I LOVE buying costumes, wigs, & props after Halloween when everything goes 90% off! It’s a great way to add some MAGIC to a lesson & hook my Ss!! Love having them dress up, too! #tlap
A3 - Classic! I won’t even put a pic up of the clothing I’ve worn to school. I’ve worn space suits to flint stone costumes to a mini-me cap. Again, relationship value is huge. Silly factor as well. #tlap
A3: My students use @ChatterPixIt for costumes to make their stories come to life. This is an example of a letter one of my students wrote in response to a mentor text. #tlap
A2 @RaeHughart is the expert. She is amazing at collaboration with community partners who sponsor mock internships for students in the classroom. Totally awesome teaching and learning! #teachfurther#tlap
A3 Love costumes & dressing up! It's amazing the reaction I get when all I do is put on my lab coat. I've been Miss Nelson, a storm trooper, and of course a pirate! #tlap
#tlap A3: I'm gonna be honest. I don't think this is something I want to celebrate or emulate with my Ss. I'd rather celebrate them as people of substance. I can't imagine how this would go over in a low-income district. I'm here to change the world, not indulge in its vices.

A3: In our “movie premiere” activity, we all chose to dress in our finest for that day, including myself. Most recently, I dressed the part for our room transformation back to Ancient Athens. The Ss were pumped! #tlap
A3 #tlap@DrLWalczak and I have speakeasy (pirated from the one and only @burgessdave) next week - but Ss come as 20s figures, dress up, must bring an artifact - pics will come 3/16! #sschat
A3. I’ve incorporated costume based on unit/lesson - kids ❤️❤️❤️- I want my kids to always want more... I want them to come to school with such excitement!

A3: in a way I do this every Tuesday with #bowtietue. Ss know to expect that every week, a part of my persona I guess, and some Ss participate with me, even have one who makes his own out of paper. Keeping with my HP theme I also try to wear HP clothing when possible. #tlap
A3: Oh my...I live the Costume hook. Had about 20 "guest speakers." They soon learn that means me...in character. About half of them women...you don't need to judge! #LetAPirateBeAPirate#tlap
A3: Bringing in the characters energy and enthusiasm with whatever is being presented. Dressing like your favorite book character, or for our trial I dressed as the Judge. It will only get the students more excited! #tlap

A3: I left the room to retrieve our “guest speaker” in SS one day. I came back dressed in full Lewis and Clark elk-skin fringed coat and pants! Spent the whole time describing the expedition to my kids and never broke character. #tlap#masdtlap
A3 I often refer to myself as The Grand Puba (Happy Days!). A fellow teacher bought me the hat and I get a lot of attention with that thing on! ( #TLAP )
A3: I am not quite sure costumes are something I would use, as it may be tough to find clothes, dress-ups and such (as a college student, it's hard to find interview clothes right now). However, it is a great skill to find and be creative with! #tlap
I dress up all the time (last week I was The Cat In the Hat and Thing 1 and dressed in all pink.) But I teach science so I don’t think it helped on a curr. level. I think the materials I select and the labs I choose can be used as a sort of “bling” to get thr wow factor. #tlap
A3) Props & a change in setting! Scheduling the MPR for specific lessons helps foster student engagement. Student favorite- Constitutional Convention simulation with tricorn hats, quill pens, & taper candles. NO matches of course. #tlap
A3 My 1 regret is I never dressed up like George Washington last year when I still had my own class. We did Skype with THE (closest thing to) George & Marth Washington though! #tlap

I love incorporating my culture into my classroom! #tlap afterwards I give the students opportunities to try it on and experience some international flair! :)
A4: Best Opinionater and Best Supporting Evidence. In social studies, opinion drives instruction. Students should be praised for developing and sharing opinions, even if you disagree with them! And, of course, supporting evidence is the cornerstone of an effective argument! #tlap
A3: I dress up almost every time I can. Had an admin colleague that said "I don't dress up because you never know when you'll have to be on the news." I say "Let them see me doing what I do for kids every day!" #tlap
3) The best dressed on the red carpet are those who show who they really are. They are no longer in character, but showing the world the real them, focusing on what makes them amazing. Use who you are, show off your strengths, embrace YOU! #tlap

A5: I love using music as a hook! For example, when teaching the Cold War, I play “Why Can’t We Be Friends” as students enter the room. They get a kick out of it, but it also makes them place the song within context - why this song? Why on this day? It gets them warmed up! #tlap
A5: I love using @MrBettsClass to help bring them into a theme. I play Jazz when I do direct instruction on Jazz Age. On a sillier note I frequently am known to blast my speakers to play Rebecca Black's "Friday" on Fridays. Students laugh and roll their eyes. I love it! #tlap

A5: Music is so interesting for me. It has so much deeper meaning, and I think students should dissect each lyric. As a saxophone player, I would love to play with the students and try to implement music with education! #tlap
A5 - As mentioned earlier, music is in my opinion the easiest and best way to get the positive mood going. We pick a movie of the week and play soundtracks from that movie. It’s amazing how many great songs are part of movies. First time I played SNF and did JT it was😁 #tlap
A5 I have created playlists on Youtube w/ songs that correspond to what we're working on. Astronomy ex: Ziggy Stardust, Moondance Inspired by @TeacherRunner42#tlap

A5 Music can help build excitement, suspense, or just put students in a relaxed mood while working on a task! I just love having music playing in the classroom. #tlap
A5: Play music that you know will get excited about what learning journey you and your Ss are about to embark on! We also use the “Can I get a drum roll please?!” and “dun dun DUN” to add to the suspense of learning something new! #tlap
✨A5: MUSIC IS KEY! We got incredibly lucky with the timing of this spooky station song during our Booktacular Book Tasting Event. However, music needs to "come into play" regularly, not just for special occasions! It's a small thing, but makes a big difference! ✨ #TLAP

5) Just did this one today. As students entered to face day one of the FSA (state test) I had The Final Countdown and Fight Song on a replay loop blasting though the halls while fist bumps, hugs, and handshakes were passed out to all #tlap
Positive musical chairs. Numbers on all chairs. Students walk around the room. When the music stops, I call out 4 numbers. Whoever is standing in front of those numbers has to say a positive quality that they have and 1 other person in class. Great icebreaker and ❤️ #tlap
A6: I am trying to integrate more choice in my room. I want to provide options to allow students to share what they know. And if they want to propose their own idea I will listen and consider adding it to the options! #tlap
A6: @Flipgrid@DoInkTweets are my two best friends for this! We have loved getting S voice in our video announcements and in the classrooms for parents to see. #tlap
A5: I played “This is Me” today in class, & one of my Ss asked if it could be our class theme song. I LOVE the idea of a song we can playing to celebrate us! At team & school meetings the song could play when our class is announced, or we could use it to start the day! #tlap
A5. I love to have students create the playlists to match the theme. We just finished literature circles and Ss created a soundtrack to match their book. #TLAP
A5: Somewhere in Liverpool there lies a music teacher that had 2 of the 4 Beatles in their class & gave them low scores. As teachers, understand that we are sometimes incapable of seeing the creative potential of our students because their ideas are too ahead of their time #tlap

Classical while working and in the morning we do soft starts which is choice for kids- their musical play list is playing when they enter in the AM and while doing soft starts. #tlap
A6: Anytime you can give Ss the spotlight, even for a minute or two of class, they LOVE it. Let them show case a talent, run the show, or assist you at the end. A storyteller, stupid human tricks, or whatever suits your subject and personality. #tlap
A6: Student VOICE & CHOICE is crucial and imperative! Provide a safe space where students ALWAYS want to take risks & stretch their mindset! The sky is the limit! #tlap#leadlap@isterlingn thought you would like this response!

A6: We know in our room that everyone’s ideas deserve to be heard loud and proud! We talk a lot about encouraging friends to own their opinions! We celebrate thoughts being shared instead of kept a secret. We have had great class discussions that come from sharing together. #tlap
A5 I always have music--ALWAYS! Intro, outro, in the middle "da da da daaaaaaa" or drumrolls... or, me breaking into a song via keyboard...
Need I go on?
Never is there a time where sound of some sort isn't fitting. Only thing better is when dancing fits, too. #tlap
A6: We did Passion Projects...It was solely student driven and based on their passions. The outcomes were extraordinary! No words can describe the experience! #tlap
A6: Provide students with choice; allow student passion to drive your classroom! One of my favorite activities is when students research current events that fascinate them and lead a class discussion on it. They are invested and they are interested so they are LEARNING! #tlap
A6. This we need to do. Is open the ceremony to Ss voice and choice by having them take the microphone for thank you speeches. It would be quite long fo the amount of kids honored! #tlap
A6: @Flipgrid for sure! Using that program has done wonders to my students confidence! And getting them in front of their peers talking, and opportunities for reflection #tlap
A6: I'd pick a handful of videos of acceptance speeches where celebrities spoke out on an issue, have students rotate to listen and reflect on a few, and then write their own and share on an app like #flipgrid#tlap
I am bound and determined to find a song to use this fall as background music for Ss returning to our building as we transition from K-2/3-5 buildings to a K-6 configuration! #tlap
A6: We have 'Good Tickets' to the office. I send Ss to share good work.
Also, I have had a 'Class Tweeter of the Day.'
And I text parents - with a message from the student; the Ss get to press the send button on my phone. #TLAP
A6: This year I had the students teach the Civil Rights Unit by getting into groups and preparing the presentation and activities for the class. They did so well! Gave them great voice to be the teachers! #tlap
A6: Interviewing is a great way to share their voice. I think clubs can be implemented with elementary school students, starting to voice their opinions about ideas and what they can do to make the school better and such! #tlap
A6 Genius hour activities, use @Seesaw to make book recommendations, make @PicCollage to introduce themselves, write a rap/poem accompanied by an instrument #tlap

I have to take off but what a fun and inspiring chat this evening thanks to all of you who shared your ideas. I’m so pumped for the rest of the week #TLAP
A3: Kids love it when their Ts "dress up". For our Pep Rally last year 3 of us were the "EOG GAME DAY" crew. So much fun! Not a glamorous costume but we loved playing the part as if we were the "College Game Day" crew from ESPN. #TLAP#weareaycock@goelway7@HngnwtMrCooper
I've got to jump off of here #tlap!!! Thank you ALL so much for an amazing chat! I loved that I was able to grow my #PLN & share with all of you! Have a great night!
Nominees take the opportunity to voice their passions on the red carpet & in their acceptance speeches. 🎤
Q6: How could you give your Ss opportunities to share their voice on the “red carpet”?
#TLAP
A5: Music!! Music to get them excited and ready to learn and music to take a quiet break and ground ourselves after lunch to get ready for the afternoon. Music during quiet reading time just like in a book cafe. An idea I borrowed from a colleague @missmarino_#TLAP
A6: @Flipgrid is my FAVORITE tech tool for promoting student voice!!! It’s been a game changer in my classroom!! Everyone should catch #FlipgridFever! #tlap
A6 Take the time to listen to your students. Be there. Understand. Vary their voice sharing. In person, one-on-one conferencing, with @flipgrid. Allow students to practice and empower their voice by using it as often as possible. #tlap

A5 #tlap I play tons of music, especially the closer we get to the 80s - just so I can play 80s music. Every Ss needs a solid overview of the 80s music historical canon

A6. @geniushour Wow! They have blown me away so far! Kids developed their own rubric-not only did they teach us about their passion projects they also had to teach the audience an activity- learned about Helen Keller and sign language, India and made flag- so much more! #tlap
#tlap A5: I've got a "competition" playlist as well. Kung-Fu Fighting, When Two Tribes Go To War, Another One Bites The Dust, Roar, anything from the Rocky movies, etc....... Fun stuff :)
A5: I find it really disheartening that ss that dont have me have no idea how to talk to me or say hello. I have a plastic mic and I pretend to be a reporter as they leave school for the day in the hallway. Gives them practice. Thurs. question was, will it snow tomorrow? #tlap
In a chat I was listening to earlier, I heard a simple/great idea - let the Ss decorate the room with their work and/or decorate bulletin boards. I need to try this soon! #tlap

A:6 tomorrow we will be having a mock debate as we are learning about the branches of government. The candidates running for president will have to answer real questions on the spot, sharing their beliefs with their peers. #tlap
A6: I often tweet out when I see something good going on by teachers or students. I could let them “hack” my Twitter to share what they see if good in our school #TLAP

Q6: How could you give your Ss opportunities to share their voice on the “red carpet”?

A5: I always use music & love to sing making up our own songs & chants. Penguin Olympics I used the Olympics opening ceremonies theme music & will probably use Eye of the Tiger & Katy Perry Roar for medal ceremony (we use those a lot, mascot is Tiger!) #tlap
As the nominees are announced, video & music is played to capture our attention & create a special moment.

In all of these ideas it’s clear that we put students above all other things. There is a certain freedom about letting go, that sparks those students who might otherwise just be “there.” Being human is a huge factor in education. #tlap
A6: Since we’re in 2nd, write thank you’s first in a note/letter, and then film it or perform it! I love doing videos for Mother’s/Father’s Day to send to parents instead of another craftivity, and the kiddos do too! #tlap
A7: We invite parents, family members, Ts, admin, other classes around the world, authors, and more! The more people they reach, the BIGGER the impact! #tlap
A6: During circle time in the morning each child has an opportunity to shine on the "red carpet" or whatever color their carpet square is 😉 we pass a talking piece and they can only talk when they are holding it and we all keep our eyes on the speaker to show respect. ⭐️#TLAP
A7: I was about to say their family and parents, but I feel as though students will be extra nervous! I am going to answer with other classes, as students would get more motivated and ready to be a part of the "red carpet" experience! #tlap

Q7: Who could you invite to your “red carpet” experience to create an authentic audience?

A6: Students love listening to music, but the best is using their own voice to design their own songs to show what they have learned. This is when they really get to showcase their creativity #tlap
A7: Every school has a wide range of grades and classes. Craft lessons that allow students to interact with other classes! Let them exhibit their greatness for others; and let other grow as a result of that greatness! Everyone wins! #tlap
#tlap A6:,Last June I ended the year with a published hardback book each student had a story and illustration in. We debuted our books where authors go...a bookstore. Barnes and Noble allowed my class to take over and present their story individually. Academy Award showcase!
A7: Hand written and illustrated invites from Ss to all those near and dear to us! Admin, teachers, family, friends...everyone come and share the joy! #tlap
I plan to try it out in a few weeks. Replacing an exit ticket exercise for student's opinions on current Native American issues on reservations and how it connects to the history of removal. #tlap
A7: Administrators and teachers who teach those students! I always love when @ERobbPrincipal or @ToddRisser will swing by to see what my students are showcasing! #tlap

Have to go! Family calls. Thanks for some amazing ideas. Truly creative people in this chat. Love all of the unique ways to promote unity and community. #TLAP
✨ A6: FLIPGRID is a great way to give students a chance to share their voice! Before we revealed our Teen Lit Olympics, students created countries & elected officials. Then, they gave a presidential address using @Flipgrid!✨#TLAPhttps://t.co/ev6DV5fE0p
A7: Parents, Principals, and Pals—our three P’s of who we want to view our work or see our show! Our class makes invites for everything! If we’re doing something more comprehensive, we try inviting a wider audience. #tlap
A7.2: For example, my high school students write a children’s book about a revolution. Next year, I hope to plan a trip to the elementary school to actually read their books to 3rd graders! They have an audience for their excellence! #tlap
A7: We invite our families into our school for events in order to share the experiences and to feel what we want their kids to feel - Love and learning #tlap

Parents, community members, business owners, leaders. Also, real talk: I'm a suburban white lady, and honestly, my HS kids see that at the front of almost every class they're in. I think that inviting role models and audience members from all walks of life is huge. #tlap
