Oh, right, I keep forgetting to ask my admin if I can reprise getting out of the last day of school to go to FlipTech again. I presented #flipclass to the whole staff when we had a PD day Friday...wouldn’t it be great if some of them came along :D? #flipclasschat
A1 #flipclass is NOT abt the video. It is ant the time the video frees up for interaction... & dude, have you heard some live lectures??? SNOOZE FEST. Talk abt passive! Blah blah blah ...notes... blah blah blah #flipclasschat
A1: In a lecture, students often sit passively while they receive information. #flipclass is not about the videos...it's about all the extra time in class to interact, build relationships, and work with students to help them understand the material #flipclasschat
Q2 for #flipclasschat
How can we best respond to the critique that #flipclass assignments are inferior to "traditional" assignments to practice what Ss learned in class?
A2: not the greatest reason, but in physics and chemistry, S can google all the solutions and fail the test. With flipclass, I can see their process. Also my lazy S do so much worse than my worker bees in #flipclass#flipclasschat
A2: it’s still the same work but I can help Ss more when they need the help. I really don’t see what’s so bad about trying to help Ss understand more #flipclass#flipclasschat
(2/2) In Flipped Learning 3.0, #flipclass is sort of an "operating system" that frees up class time for a variety of approaches, such as project-based learning, Socratic seminars, mastery models, added inquiry, etc. #flipclasschat

A3 Not being able to ask a question is the biggest complaint about #flipclass. My HS Ss didn't ask many deep Qs. I include a way to ask one for the next class day, form or notes and solicit Qs first thing in warm up or after checking the knowledege check. #flipclasschat
My disaffected students actually like #flipclass because they are tired of teachers controlling them in a teacher-centered class. They embrace autonomy! #flipclasschat
I'm certain I actually teach more with #flipclass than I did when lecturing. More interactions, diagnoses, problem solving. Plus now there are cheers when Ss figure something out. No high fives for finishing lecture. #flipclasschat
I really love the way #flipclass transforms your ability to know where each S is at because you can now interact with (almost?) every S (almost?) every class. Much less chance for a S to get overlooked or hide. #flipclasschat
