Hello, Penny technologist Pinch Elementary & Kenna Elementary KCS just returned travel WI, MN, and IA on the Great River Road
Jealous! :) I'm touched by your support tonight Jodie! Thanks!
Absolutely! That's what a is for!!!! :)
A1: Designing opportunities for Ss to When Ss think about action they can take to be better person, I'm PUMPED.
A1: Reflecting on the lessons I teach and starting fresh every school year.
A1: Knowing that everyday you have the opportunity to change countless lives
A1: The best thing about being an educator is witnessing students grow and not growth according to the state.
better students, better citizens, better people = a better world!
A1: The kids! I love their excitement and doing what is best for them
A1: Being w my students! Seeing them grow - in education, in athletics, in co-curriculars! Watching them happy & thriving!
Can't replace the perspective of the one on the front line! Be unshakable in that fact.
realizing that everything we do is for kids, and an investment in the future.
So true! They can grow in many aspects! Socially, emotionally.... I want a happy student!
A2: I want to flex so big I ruin my shirt when my Ss show respect, empthy, & tolerance n my class that they rarely show elsewhere.
love the word INVESTMENT Luke! No heart - - - >no investment
A2: Take ownership of their learning and help other students. Also when they teach me!!
I'm pumped when my Ss are pumped! They're excited, I'm excited! I'll always be their biggest cheerleader!!
Love this!! https://t.co/8ec5TUFi2D
A2: I want to flex so big I ruin my shirt when my Ss show respect, empthy, & tolerance n my class that they rarely show elsewhere.
A2: Having the "a ha" moment!
A2: I get pumped seeing my students getting excited to learn, they want to be in class and excited about a certain activity.
A1: the best part is knowing what i do matters. I make a difference every day and that is cool.
Ok peeps- come on over and support now on ! Great chat happening!!!
I get pumped when I see students overcome obstacles, especially obstacles they're not expected to clear
A2: i get pumped when my Ss fly solo. Its bittersweet but its a part of the job!
I'm home! Great to see everyone tonight. I've been thinkng a lot abt the people I call on 4 spprt, accntability, growth. It's YOU.
Great answer, my SPED mindset! https://t.co/gJatk0yw8P
I get pumped when I see students overcome obstacles, especially obstacles they're not expected to clear
A3: By INTENTIONALLY giving my Ss opps to make the right decisions! Forcing compliance is not the same as empowering excellence.
A3: Never. Letting. Them or Myself. Give Up. Never.
A3: Raise S potential by not settling for less than the best! Expect and demonstrate excellence, and that's what you'll get!
A3: I provide students opps to reflect on what's working and what's not working. They think about LEARNING and respond n writing.
Behavior is taught the same as algebra. We must teach, set up for success, and PRAISE!
A3: By encouraging students even if it means failure. Then having them try again.
A3: Empower students with multiple opportunities to demonstrate growth, allow students to innovate!
Look at you! Tweeting while on vacay!
Good evening everyone :0) Wanted to say hi and I'll read up later. Have to go pick up my son. I love my WV PLN.
Had a great convo about this recently with my friend What an inspiring educator!
Supporting and encouraging their fails is important! Show your fails too!
A4: you can ensure Ss potential when you are empowering Ss to take risk and ownership of their learning.
Thanks Amber! We are the sum parts of our members, for sure!
A1: I agree with ! It's all about doing what's best for kids!
A3: providing them opportunities to be successful. Too often we limit risk taking to stay w/ the norm; it negatively affects Ss
Whether we're learning academics or behaviors, having a propels you forward.
Showing our fails is so important!
Yo Tweeting from the beach What a guy! Thanks man https://t.co/dJ8CucTZhs
A3: providing them opportunities to be successful. Too often we limit risk taking to stay w/ the norm; it negatively affects Ss
A3: By creating personalized assignments...engaging and relevant too!
A3: I dnt leave growth in human potential to chance. Do Ss write, reflect, vocalize their progress in responsibility? Leadership?
A4: LCLs empower, encourage, and ignite!
A4: Making it personal. Don’t be afraid to open up and be human. Teachers are not super heroes.
A4: LCL...could change Ss lives or the Ts!
A4: My FAVORITE LCL! https://t.co/ADmgpqzqDO Teachers down the hall came by to watch this year :) Love those two tho!
A5: LCLs manage to connect Ss to content that is real & meaningful to Ss. Content comes to life & has real application!
My Spyglass, White Labcoat/I Can, and Mindreader lessons are three of my favs!
A4: LCLs manage to connect Ss to content that is real & meaningful to Ss. Content comes to life & has real application!
A4: Components-> Respect of others - Reflection of the heart. Empathy for things beyond ourselves. https://t.co/nhCumaySne
Awesome! May have to steal some of those next year Rikki.
A4: Biggest challenge of LCL: Getting teens to think past themselves. We are so naturally self-centered. Me too.
LCL's make Ss connected w the lesson more! They are more engaged. Having them share in planning and leading are optimal!
A4: Seeing students understand a historical event from the perspective of a real-life participant.
Jacinda! So I travel 2 hours for yesterday and who do I meet? A Ripley High grad!
A4: Real world problem solving...PBL...allowing Ss to see that they can make a difference!
A5: Listened to our students.
Sorry I missed most of this tonight. Packing to go to the SREB Conference tomorrow.
Enjoy the conference Missy! Hope it's a good one! Share any golden nuggets you find :)
If educators were more transparent and not afraid to be innovative, Ss would leave our classes richer than before!
A5: remembered what it was like to be a student
A5: Invested more intentionally in relationships...
It benefits everyone when Ts take risks!
I need that reminder a lot Michelle! Good point! & I put several Ts n the student seats today!
A5: listen and teach from the heart! Make your passion come alive!
A5: if educators would stop and ask Ss abt instruction truly listened & reflected it would improve Ss learning!
Educators need to step back and remember what it was like to be a kid once and while!
Agree. Hope to allow more Ts to SEE it in action next year.
A5: Teachers need to question students more and provide answers less.
Great point. Wasn't until I started to integrate technology did I realize just how often I walk arnd handng out answrs.
A5: let students choose how they show what they know
Awesome! It's hard for Ts to remember a time when we didn't know the answers.
Somehow the tech provided the litmus I needed to see how easy I had made "work" before.
Q6: Name one way we can support the lessons beyond the classroom next year.
Didn't get time to complete the image for Q6: See below. https://t.co/HxjdVAtdda
Q6: Name one way we can support the lessons beyond the classroom next year.
A6: Make the lesson relevant to the real world.
A5: let students fail once in awhile. Then taught them how to get back up from it.
We have to think outside the box more! Be more innovative! Think of our students and their needs. Gotta do what's best for them!
A6: Project-Based Learning based on real world questions
A6: Go digital! Video conference, blog, or maybe even Tweet!
Sounds like great exp James! It's so tough for my Ss to understand that I WANT them to fail durng the lrng process.
A6: be honest in your reflections. Look each student in the eye and remember their worth.
A6: linking lessons to real world applications through hard copy or online articles. Show them this is happening outside the room.
A6: I really want to see my students SPEAK about their learning more often.
A6 provide Ss different platforms to learn...coding, projects, menus
A6: strive to connect lessons to real life applications. Seek to design lessons that stimulate beyond classroom walls. Empower Ss
I set aside for a minute, this is what I was exactly thinking! https://t.co/NyWDFJ2ygL
A6: linking lessons to real world applications through hard copy or online articles. Show them this is happening outside the room.
I am going to use it more this year!
Me too! Tell what they know! I want some deep, thought provoking goal setting too!
Speaking my language there man. I use NTY instead of F. (Not There Yet).
Flipped classroom! https://t.co/X3fTHanpVy
A6: linking lessons to real world applications through hard copy or online articles. Show them this is happening outside the room.
Bingo! Same here Jodie. Great vision heading to next year.
Gotta run! Thanks for my WV Educator fix tonight! You guys rock!
A6: I encourage y'all to check out my class website. The first half is nothing but articles connected to our science content
The sweet&inspiring inspired some of the Qs tonight. So glad I got to meet her the last couple days.
Excellent questions ! Glad you were available!
