We work hard to provide equitable access for each of our students and we need to provide the same for parents.
Those engaged Ts respect parents as experts in their lives, just like they value in their classes
Parents need to PD in parallel with teachers. If the Ts have read "Mindset" but the Ps haven't, you've got clashes on every topic.
Keep Ps in the loop and up-to-date on the articles and blogs that we read and how they form our practice.

Parents care about what's best for their kids. We can't bury them in edu-speak. We owe it to them to show relevance.

Exaclty. My sts tell me where they go out to eat and it is not where we get our family night meal.
we started Parent University this year. We provide interpreters and babysitting for children & Food Well received!
Maybe If it was only assigned to those who needed it. The extra practice is not successful according to some research.

Another option is to give parents tools that we use to engage students, even if we have to teach them to use them

I dealt with that as well. Just as with kids, relationships are key. I made it a point to know Ps names as well as Ss
I believe we can help 21st Century kids learn this. But it'll demand some unlearning from 20th Century adults.

I would speak to the principal first. I've had similar exp as my kids move from T to T.
that's 1st grade. Older girl's middle school, team, meanwhile, has awesome weekly updates for parents.
Precede all with retlationship building. Help parents feel they r understood &it's a "work with you" approach
