#EduGladiators A1: We have the potential to learn from others attempts and accelerate the positive change process in education if we connect and watch what others are trying and share what we are attempting as well
There’s no spreading of ideas for best practice or tips/techniques that work. Just look at how #flipclass took off and various technologies people find uses for. #EduGladiators
It’s important for to be globally connected because who better to learn from than people in your field, doing what you do everyday. We all have our own unique qualities that others can learn from! #TMGenius#edugladiators
Q1: The more we expand and learn, the more we grow. We become stagnant if we stick with only the same ideas as those directly around us.
Plus, to prepare our Ss for the world awaiting them, we need to help them make connections! #edugladiators
A1 If we want our students to have the ability to understand the world, we need to be connected to it. Plus, how can we continue to grow as teachers and empower each other if we stay inside our bubbles? #EduGladiators
A1. We live in a globally connected world. We must model what it looks like for our staff and for our Ss so that our kids are prepared for the world we live in now and the future. #edugladiators

A1 world is a fabric of cultures and our learners can make sense of history, geography, literature, poetry, STEM, the arts, demographic connectedness as influencers of humanity - and it’s fun ro to connect to a global communication network! #edugladiators
A1. In a global world with 24/7 connectivity across the globe, educational silos are the greatest obstacle to instructional innovation, progress, and improvement. #edugladiators
Our kids are ALREADY connected and could use some guidance in how to leverage technology/connectedness to make real positive changes in the world. The future is already here!
#edugladiators
A1 We can bring in so many more authentic learning experiences, connect our classrooms to others around the world, enhances learning and student engagement #edugladiators
A1 Connecting with others helps our Ss understand that in spite of our cultural differences we have so much in common with the rest of the world. Helps develop empathy & understanding. Something our world desperately needs #edugladiators
A1 Being connected globally gives you so many opportunities to learn from others. Learn different cultures, customs and opportunities to collaborate. Your students get the same opportunities #EduGladiators
A1) To expand understanding of other cultures we need to be connected. Building respect & empathy begins with connecting with others globally. #EduGladiators
A1 i think it is most important to learn from and about one another - it is also inportant to understand what the Ss are going through... living with social media is very different then how many of us grew up #EduGladiators
A1: It helps us make connections and see various perspectives. When we’re teaching about specific places, people, events how amazing would it be to have an actual connection to communicate with? Makes the learning more authentic than just reading about it. #EduGladiators
A1. We are globally connected in our work, our entertainment, our politics, etc. If we want our students to be prepared for life to see the perspectives of others we must strive to connect globally connected with other educators as well as classrooms. #EduGladiators
A1: When you are connected with other people that share the same passion that you do, it is extremely motivating, stimulating and energizing.

A1
✨CONNECTING GLOBALLY OPENS DOORS!✨
So many experiences can be gained for you & your students when you connect globally! Exposing yourself and your class to these experiences can broaden their perspectives! #edugladiators
A1:Teaching is hard. It’s less hard when we are not alone, when we are connected. There is something awesome about the universality of teaching—the struggle, the success that other teachers at any spot on the globe know. There is power and hope in that connection. #edugladiators
#edugladiators A2 When the teacher is globally connected, they bring a wealth of diverse ideas and information into their classroom. Students benefit from this plethora of resources!
Yes! I think we shouldn't ask students to do things we aren't willing to do ourselves. One reason why I'm always pushing for teachers to get on Twitter and/or start a blog!! #EduGladiators
A2 Students will have access to so much more for learning, authentic resources, exchange of ideas, the ability to learn from experts and other educators around the world #edugladiators
A2) The world is your PLN, there is unless amount of learning for you and your students from around the world. As I teach I learn as #globallyconnected educator. Everyday is an adventure in my classroom #EduGladiators
A2: If a teacher is pushing to grow, they're going to push their students to grow.
They get the opportunity of exposure to other ideas and connections outside their own communities
#edugladiators
A1:Every connection you make expands your world and the opportunities for you and your students! Each connection is a step off that island we sometimes find ourselves on. #EduGladiators
A2 Benefits to students:
*Teacher has multiple perspectives
*Teacher can provide authentic experiences for students to learn about other cultures, languages, etc.
*Opportunities to demonstrate empathy
*Opportunities to collaborate and SOLVE world problems
#edugladiators
Students can learn that the world is much larger than what is around them! This will help them to become more culturally aware. #TMGenius#edugladiators
And I'm always surprised how resistant some are to this, but then I remember how resistant I was to Twitter five years ago. But truly, the #1 thing that has improved my teaching is Twitter! #edugladiators
It also helps to engage with people who have a different perspective because it allows you to “see” things you may not have considered before. #EduGladiators
Love the adventure! Definitely need to create a classroom where ss don't want to leave, where they are engaged and driving their learning #edugladiators
A2: As a social studies teacher, it is incredibly important that I stay globally connected so that I can bring my students up to@date perspectives from around the world. #EduGladiators
A2) The world is your PLN, there is unless amount of learning for you and your students from around the world. As I teach I learn as #globallyconnected educator. Everyday is an adventure in my classroom #EduGladiators
I know my Ss have experienced activities/techniques/tech I have found on twitter thru different chats. They were all things I hadn’t heard of or tried but saw success with others doing it. It was like a road map with diff stops for diff things. #EduGladiators
A2 being globaly connected allows others to have opportunities ... where I work Ss need to see that the world is bigger then where they can walk to #EduGladiators
A2: teachers are keeping up with the latest trends, vocabulary, issues, topics, events around the world. All this keeps the Ss education relevant to their needs #EduGladiators
A2 The benefits for studentsare authentic learning opportunities with experts, virtual field trips and real time learning with other kids around the 🌎 We took advantage of the opportunity tech haves to collaborate #EduGladiators

A1: It’s so important to grow as educators and having the opportunity to do so with other educators from all over the world through social media is a blessing. #globaled#EduGladiators
A2: A globally connected educator is typically one that grows professionally from those interactions. Students always benefit from being taught by people that model lifelong learning.
#edugladiators
A1: It’s so easy to NOT be connected & remain in our self-imposed bubbles with our heads in the sand stuck in our ways. As @sandeeteach mentioned, our Ss are already connected. We have to be fearless to catch up w/tech & keep learning to improve our strategies. #EduGladiators
A2: Students benefit because their educators are modeling how to be resourceful at highly effectively levels. The possibilities for growth have become limitless by embracing this lifestyle. #EduGladiators
In reply to
@EduGladiators, @Rdene915, @D4Griffin3, @BrendanFetters, @mgrosstaylor, @SaneeBell, @mccoyderek, @cskiles80, @RyanBJackson1, @Maverikedu12
A2 sense of how small planet earth actually is - makes learning abt life outside country more real to connect, opp for authentic partners and audiences for work on global challenges #EduGladiators
A2 Having a globally connected T opens doors for Ss too. GC T’s are open minded, tolerant, accepting, skillful, happy, and empowered. GC T’s can find answers to help Ss too. Kids win when T’s are connected! #EduGladiators
A2: Ss have educators that are setting the example for what it means to be a life long learner. Educators will be exposing students to so much more than if they stayed in their local educator community. #EduGladiators
✨NEW IDEAS!✨
My eyes are opened to so many new ideas by connecting globally! I love taking those ideas back to my classroom to enhance my students' learning experiences! It's energizing for me too! #edugladiators
Yes, I always say the world is so big yet sometimes seems so small, especially when you think about how quickly we can make those connections #edugladiators
A2 connecting w the world thru online communities and human stories of people who may be culturally diff has potential to develop deeper sense of empathy #EduGladiators
A2 As a foreign language teacher, being able to connect my Ss with Ss in classrooms where Spanish is spoken has created opportunities and ways to learn that I alone could not have provided #edugladiators
A2: These students are provided with a variety of resources and connections through the connections made by their teacher. These students can then begin their journey as globally connected students. They see learning through different lenses. #EduGladiators
A2 A globally connected educator tends to have a mindset of growth and a life long learner, and is generally committed to seeing the perspective of others. Globally connected educators are more likely to be committed to connecting Ss globally as well. #edugladiators
So true Rachelle - and our immigrant families add richness to the fabric of our school culture - and bring so much with them to the School community #EduGladiators
#edugladiators The more perspectives on #teaching, the better. Reaching beyond the walls of my #classroom, my #team, my #school makes me a better #teacher, because it provides unlimited insight into the teaching process!
A2: When the teachers are connected to the world of education not just what is right in front of them students see so much more. Different styles and ideas come through and reach those who learn in different ways. #EduGladiators
I think a lot of the divisiveness in our country originates from people in their bubbles- unable to show empathy for other people- Students care about this issue! #edugladiators
Technology has exponentially expanded our menu options. Resources are abundant if we choose to look for them. We now need to grow in our willingness to seek out resources and grow in our ability to select the best options. Kids need this skill as well. #edugladiators
People always ask me where I learn about new ideas, and the answer is always "Twitter, where all new ideas live." It's changed teaching for me, so I try to spread the joy #EduGladiators
A2: Students of a connected educator have those connections as well! It exposes them to learning outside their bubble, teaching empathy, compassion, and understanding! #EduGladiators
A2: the world is global, I need to set an example! I can learn from others and show how diversity is important. My school is diverse with many nationalities, I need to show how to learn from what is represented in my class and their world #EduGladiators
A3) Create activities for your S to connect to and learn from others. Find Global Projects, exchange emails, messages, postcards, packages, tshirts. Set up times to Skype or Hangout or watch a Futbol game together. #EduGladiators
A3 I sent messages within @edmodo to connect for our #pbl and we formed a group and students were able to ask questions, share videos w/ @Flipgrid and learn about each other #edugladiators
People always ask me where I learn about new ideas, and the answer is always "Twitter, where all new ideas live." It's changed teaching for me, so I try to spread the joy #EduGladiators
A3: actually allowing time to build their PLN. Teachers often has so much to get done that we don’t offer opportunities for this to happen within our classroom.
Give them that technology and teach how to grow their #PLN! #edugladiators
A1. We are Global Leaders and it is our responsibility to model and open doors to each of our students to a diverse world where their voice matters #EduGladiators
#edugladiators A2: I think that it increases student opportunities to find real world examples connections and relevancy for the learning we ask them to engage in
A3: The importance of using social media beyond their friends and community. Showing them Twitter as a PLN. This is something I need to do better on, and it begins with a convo with my principal. #edugladiators
A3: Seeking out opportunities to collaborate and inviting others "into" our classrooms. With the available tech there are so many ways to break down the walls! #EduGladiators
A3 Using social media to connect learners w the world - twitter accounts, virtual real-time connects via Skype, G hangouts, shared projects form connections and PLN friendships #edugladiators
A2) One of many benefits for Ss having a globally connected experience is building relationships with others that help them develop a global perspective which is critical in their adult world. #EduGladiators
A2: by being globally connected as an educator I can ensure that my strategies are best practice. As one individual, I am limited in my potential. By connected with other educators I can use their strengths. We are better together! #edugladiators
A2:Borders and governments are constructs that artificially divide. Our “globabalness” is our humanness. When we are connected globally, we are connected humanly. When we are connected by our humanity we are guided by it and create hopeful classrooms for OUR kids. #edugladiators
@Flipgrid is a good place to start. Post a response that is world-wide. Digital portfolios on public google sites. Student twitter chats? Never tried it but mystery Skype. #EduGladiators
A3 we need to model using it appropriately. We also need to have direct conversations on how to use it appropriately. Openly talk about the impact both positively and negatively that it can have #EduGladiators
A3: For me, the answer to this is less how to do this (the tools are all around us!) but embracing the attitude that this is important and investing accordingly. #EduGladiators
In a very old tech paper I wrote (from 2012 or 13), I found a paragraph about how I wasn't interested in Twitter. Gave me a hearty laugh! #edugladiators
Hey #EduGladiators! It's Sean from BC, Canada. I teaching HS Science and love all sorts of classroom connections. Thanks to @carlameyrink for encouraging me to pop in. Sorry I am squeezing in late!!
A3: By modeling this behavior and by doing more than just answering questions. Extend conversations by responding to questions with even deeper questions. #EduGladiators
A1 I loved seeing kids in an #acps middle sch use Google hangouts to read aloud their writing to invitees by the T and children from all over the world - #edugladiators
A3 We can have our students list genuine questions about a topic or process, share their questions with other students via social media. Answering each other’s questions is less important than wondering together. #EduGladiators
#edugladiators A3. Having a class twitter account and partnering up with educators globally. Ss and myself can benefit so much by learning with another school
A3. Blogging and podcasting are two great first steps. @BillBetthauser used @Flipgrid to connect his classes internationally. Leverage the power of the internet to let students see their work published for an audience beyond the four walls of the classroom! #edugladiators
@Flipgrid is a good place to start. Post a response that is world-wide. Digital portfolios on public google sites. Student twitter chats? Never tried it but mystery Skype. #EduGladiators
A2:Borders and governments are constructs that artificially divide. Our “globabalness” is our humanness. When we are connected globally, we are connected humanly. When we are connected by our humanity we are guided by it and create hopeful classrooms for OUR kids. #edugladiators
A3: technology today opens so many doors for our students to become connected! They can use tools such as @Seesaw to create classroom blogs and @Flipgrid to make video connections with others. Not to mention google VR! So many ways! #edugladiators
A2: Students get someone who has access to more tools in the toolkit to enhance the educational experience. Not to mention the benefit of having someone who models the growth mindset. Kids take their cues from adults. #EduGladiators
A3 Also by participating in @MicrosoftEDU Mystery Skype or @Buncee buddies or @Flipgrid gridpals, Google + communities also helps you to connect with other classrooms, #edtech serves a great purpose for making these connections easier #edugladiators
A2:Borders and governments are constructs that artificially divide. Our “globabalness” is our humanness. When we are connected globally, we are connected humanly. When we are connected by our humanity we are guided by it and create hopeful classrooms for OUR kids. #edugladiators
A2. Ss are part of the latest instructional opportunities and are participants of a current source of information where their voice and opinion can help solve problems #EduGladiators
#edugladiators A3: we have to specifically and purposefully devote teaching time to this. It isn't good enough to assume because our students use connection tools outside of school that they know how to use them appropriately or for learning tasks
A3) Ss have access to a classroom Twitter account, finding online global chats, events, conferences & encouraging them to ask questions of our PLNs to begin connecting. #EduGladiators
A2:Borders and governments are constructs that artificially divide. Our “globabalness” is our humanness. When we are connected globally, we are connected humanly. When we are connected by our humanity we are guided by it and create hopeful classrooms for OUR kids. #edugladiators
Hey #EduGladiators! It's Sean from BC, Canada. I teaching HS Science and love all sorts of classroom connections. Thanks to @carlameyrink for encouraging me to pop in. Sorry I am squeezing in late!!
A3: I am looking at the idea of taking @bmilla84 lead and looking into some global collaborations. My friend @NowakRo is getting back in the classroom and even though we teach different grades I think the chance to collaborate is there. #EduGladiators
A3: Using technology like Twitter and Skype to connect students with others from around the world can help. “Others” don’t seem so strange and foreign when they are right in front of you and having a conversation. #EduGladiators
For my littles..research, reading, listening to music of other cultures etc...AND connecting using tools like @Flipgrid and @SkypeClassroom (I need to do more in class connecting next school year!) #edugladiators
This. It's so important. And it's so hard to teach when their own world perspective is embedded into kids through their own experiences. I look at our own gov't today and see a need for this...
#edugladiators
A3) Create activities for your S to connect to and learn from others. Find Global Projects, exchange emails, messages, postcards, packages, tshirts. Set up times to Skype or Hangout or watch a Futbol game together. #EduGladiators
Thanks Demetrius! - it’s obvious that cultural differences challenge those of us who have lived in isolation from the larger world - we can do much to address that w our tools today #EduGladiators
A3. #EduGladiators Teach them. Lead a Twitter chat in your class, connect with your PLN via Skype, GHO or blab. Make “connecting” part of your lesson plan. Connection and collaboration are already tied to the standards too so your admin will be pleased! Lol
I thought Twitter was a young kids game or just celebrities! I didn’t even know how any of it worked. Luckily I heard about it’s awesomeness at a training! #EduGladiators
A3 teach Ss how to use SM for learning. schools/districts to open the opportunity for Ss to use SM at school vs. blocking access--that doesn't teach them #edugladiators
A3) Does anyone remember having a pen pal at another school? I wonder how we can leverage social media to enhance the principles of pen pals? #edugladiators
A3: Teach them how to be digitally responsible citizens. Provide opportunities for them to expand their PLN within and outside of their community. It’s taking “penpal” letters to a higher level! #EduGladiators
A4) My Ss recently created videos in Spanish/English for a class in Uruguay to help learn English. As my students improved their Spanish learning abut Uruguay's culture, I added to my PLN, learned more about @Flipgrid and improved my #hyperdoc edits #edugladiators
A3
✨MAKE ALL THE CONNECTIONS!✨
We can connect students to the authors they are reading, the experts in the fields of the passion projects they are pursing, peers w/ commonaltities, the list goes on & on. If you're excited about connecting, your Ss will be too! #EduGladiators
A2. As a consultant and teacher traineer, I learn so much from my #PLN . This is in the benefit of the schools and teachers I am honoured to guide and help #edugladiators
#edugladiators A3: require students to contact and email an expert for a passion or research project, have students send there writing to authentic audiences, with younger students: model seeking a pln connection and connecting with them.
A3: Simply making those global connections help students to become globally aware. There are so many apps like Empatico that make it soooo easy to connect! Check it out here: https://t.co/WXAe3gytKw#Edugladiators
A3 Create “mirror and window” opportunities in instruction. The mirrors allow kiddos to observe similarities across cultural lines while the windows allow for kiddos to embrace and value what’s different. Searching for commonality while valuing difference is 🔑. #EduGladiators
A3 we are building systems across schools to facilitate online connectivity as a field experience resource - tech set up as international portals have let our kids visit a marine scientist underwater on the Great Barrier Reef for example #edugladiators
Yes, me too - seemed to be people tweeting out the tv shows they were watching. Had no idea of the impact it would have on me a few years later #edugladiators
Q6: Time to sacrifice. What can we cut in our classroom routines to make sure literacy work that is meaningful is getting the spotlight? #curiositycrew#EduGladiators#preservicelit If anyone wants to go back and answer the slow chat Q's after these chats end. #curiositycrew :)
A3: Model for them our own global awareness and PLNs through Twitter, Google Hangouts, Google+ communities, and other great tools for global collaboration #edugladiators
A4: being connected has opened so many doors! I’m finally starting to write a blog because I’ve been motivated by the great ideas of so many others! My PLN has challenged me to never stop growing and taught me the power of sharing with others ❤️ #edugladiators
Yaaaaaaaaasssssss!!!!!! I was just talking about this the other day! So many of our teens don’t know how to even write a letter anymore. Pen pals provide practice in language, grammar & patience. Balance of snail mail & tech is a great idea! #EduGladiators
A3: Has to start with admin setting the expectation and modeling. Then trickling down. Give them tools, time to practice and permission to try again. #EduGladiators
A4 I have friends/their expertise from all around the world! My students have benefited from us collaborating on projects and teaching our kids together. Win-Win! #edugladiators
A4) My Ss recently created videos in Spanish/English for a class in Uruguay to help learn English. As my students improved their Spanish learning abut Uruguay's culture, I added to my PLN, learned more about @Flipgrid and improved my #hyperdoc edits #edugladiators
A3 Create “mirror and window” opportunities in instruction. The mirrors allow kiddos to observe similarities across cultural lines while the windows allow for kiddos to embrace and value what’s different. Searching for commonality while valuing difference is 🔑. #EduGladiators
A3. It should all start by modeling and establishing norms. Ss need to learn netiquette and become contributors of this learning community #EduGladiators
A3: Good question. Don’t have a great answer. @Arbay38 (from Australia) showed me the power of using Flipgrid with his students last summer when they “interviewed” me about my “crazy” grading practices. I responded. We connected. I felt like they lived next door. #edugladiators
So agree, Angela. And schools need to be open to teachers addressing social media and how to use it. It's scary to knock down the garden walls and expose kids to the world, but we need the courage to do just that.
#edugladiators
A4 About 5 years ago my high school daughter showed me how to search and connect using hashtags on Twitter...GAME CHANGER!! I have benefited from a supportive group and grown my PLN! #edugladiators
Hey you!!! So good to see you! Speaking of connecting, we probably need to get together before school starts! I mean, we live in the same state! #XPLAP✨#EduGladiators
I just began my #PLN one month ago. I have become so inspired and I feel rejuvenated for my next school year. I have so many ideas and people within my #PLN have motivated me. I can’t wait for the 18-19 school year @TME_tigers! #TMGenius#edugladiators
I love this idea! The authentic writing experience would be great for students. And there's still something special about getting an actual letter in the mail. #EduGladiators
A4: Learning globally has allowed me to find PD from other prodfessionals in a way that fits my learning style. In turn, I them share with staff and students #EduGladiators
A4: as my global #PLN has grown, I've been challenged to explore more and get out of my confort zone. I've been able to discuss ideas and bring the results of those discussions back into my classroom. #EduGladiators
A3: this seems so interesting to me in that haveing a diverse room my Ss are aware of global but I want to be more responsive to their native cultures. They are aware, it’s helping them stay connected. I want to explore Skype and flipgrid more! #EduGladiators
A3 Cont. This includes multicultural literature (not just the traditional canon) in ELA class, learning multiple perspectives in Soc Studies, analyzing primary source print media, and learning about the sociopolitical factors that impact that culture or county. #EduGladiators
A4: helped me expand my PLN & further realize I’m not alone in my way of thinking. I’ve received positive feedback on posts, blog, & participation in twitter chats. I’ve taken more risks this year than I ever have & look forward to what the future has in store. #EduGladiators
A4 Being on Twitter, writing, presenting at conferences, and joining international organizations has helped me think more creatively and expansively about what “good teaching” means. It’s also humbling to see my own assumptions and blind spots. #EduGladiators
A3 one of best projects I’ve seen in #acps were kids in one of our high poverty rural schools helped design a mobile library bus for a school community in a rural poor area in Central America - redefined poverty for us here #edugladiators
I use @PenpalSchools for my 6th graders to start the year! I love their lessons and the reflections my students make alongside their penpal! #edugladiators
A4: Becoming a connected educator has inspired me to become a better prepared thinker, planner and dreamer. Through this journey, I've become able to spread enthusiasm about being a connected learner which has become contagious. #EduGladiators#pln365
I have a lot of confidence in our young leaders that they will have more empathy and understanding of others around the world and make better decisions/laws than many of our current govn't leaders. #edugladiators#brighterfuture
A3 In Europe there is a mobility programme Erasmus + , an enourmous success for Ss and Ts that build personal relationships. Anything similar in America? #edugladiators
Wow that is awesome, talk about a real world experience and one which builds empathy and fosters so many key skills that students need for the future #edugladiators
Agreed!!! I need to take my GRE in Lincoln or Omaha in the next month. When I figure out a date, I can swing through York and maybe we can make a coffee date? Would be great to see you again! #edugladiators
A1: connecting with educators around the world has truly changed the way I teach. I've become friends with educators in other countries which has allowed me to connect my students with classes around the world! #edugladiators
A4: Learning globally has allowed me to experience PD opportunities I would have never had from my own house. In turn, I can use my time more productively #EduGladiators
#edugladiators A4: I leave tomorrow to become in person connected with a community of educators that has already bonded in the digital 🌎. #LAX18#GoogleEI
A4: Being connected globally reaffirmed the amazingly talented and passionate people that chose education as their career. It keeps providing me huge inspiration.
#edugladiators
Becoming a connected educator has changed everything for my practice. New ideas, different ways of thinking, discussing tough topics. There's always more to learn from my #PLN. #EduGladiators
#EduGladiators I can't imagine being a "lone wolf" again. Opening up my PLN to Twitter has radically altered what I do bc there's more access to Ts, resources & tech that I knew nothing about. Becoming global also challenges the way I think & provides opportunities for refinement
Well it’s not much of a distance to go to have more than some of our leaders but kids are amazingly empathetic when given experiences that delve deep into social emotional connectivity not just cognitive connectivity #EduGladiators
A4: helped me expand my PLN & further realize I’m not alone in my way of thinking. I’ve received positive feedback on posts, blog, & participation in twitter chats. I’ve taken more risks this year than I ever have & look forward to what the future has in store. #EduGladiators
Professionally I actually get to host my first Twitter chat with @k_callahan4 and @TME_tigers! I’m excited to do this to grow even more and get more connected! #Edugladiators
Summer learning, having a blast! 🎶 Tell us more! Tell us more! What are you learning now? It’s about that time again and #TMGenius is the word! Join @BlairHicks6 and I as we talk about what we’re learning this summer in this Grease themed chat! July 19 @ 8:00 PM EST
A4: Becoming a connected educators has allowed me to learn so much more FROM my students as I open the door to their connections! And it has connected me with movements like #TeachSDGs and #MUNimpactand and the #CBLchat community! Transforming! #Edugladiators
@Rdene915 took my answers! I'll add that if you are a G Suite organization, you can use Hangouts or Google Meet as an alternative to Skype. #EduGladiators
A3 Also by participating in @MicrosoftEDU Mystery Skype or @Buncee buddies or @Flipgrid gridpals, Google + communities also helps you to connect with other classrooms, #edtech serves a great purpose for making these connections easier #edugladiators
A4: I really pushed myself this year and it’s from my #PLN! We need ideas and inspiration! It’s hard to sit down and read a book but browsing Twitter was so beneficial! I’m ready to learn more #EduGladiators
I LOVE COLLABORATIVE PROJECTS! I started 20 years ago and still promote them. My students and I worked with other students in Australia, Uganda, and some countries in Asia. Such amazing experiences to collaborate, learn, and share #edtech#globaled#edugladiators
A4. Twitter has been a game-changer for me. Opened doors to incredible resources, speaking opportunities, and personal friendships with teachers all around the world. Their inspiration, support & ideas directly impact the quality of my instruction. Everybody wins. #EduGladiators
A4 I had a fantastic year connecting with some of my PLN’s classes in the USA, we worked on several projects together 😀 Kids worked harder on their projects with an authentic audience and it was FUN. We all ❤️ working 🌎#EduGladiators
PS: I Soooooooo needed this chat this morning. It's been a long, anxiety- and emotionally-filled week. You all perked me up and inspired me! Thank you!!
#edugladiators
A4: A few years back I participated in a @voxer book study w/Beyond the Bake Sale. Completely transformed how I communicated w/families, improved my relationships with students, and propelled me into the world of school leadership! #EduGladiators
A4: IT FUELS ME!
✨Being a connected educator is the fuel that ignites my teaching passion! I thrive off of connecting and collaborating with other educators and their classrooms!✨#EduGladiators
A2: My students often ask how students in other countries learn about events that we discuss in our class. As a government teacher, it's also great to learn firsthand about the political systems in other countries #edugladiators
A4. Specifically, using @MetaverseApp (a twitter find), using specific chem labs from chem teachers in my #pln, project based units, #flipclass ideas. #Edugladiators
I know my Ss have experienced activities/techniques/tech I have found on twitter thru different chats. They were all things I hadn’t heard of or tried but saw success with others doing it. It was like a road map with diff stops for diff things. #EduGladiators
A1: Focusing on increasing our skills in Communication, Emotional Intelligence, Self Management, Health, Finances, Leadership, Entrepreneurship, and Goal Setting will open up any door we want to go through in our future. #fundamentals#success#EduGladiators
A4 Being a connected educator I appreciate my amazing global PLN that shares so many great sites for our pages. Our Connected Educators page https://t.co/dEyRDXtQqK We have to connect our students more with experts & others globally to learn and share with. #EduGladiators
A4 I began connecting with Middle Tallk (with @bivey & @cmtoy) on listserv 21 years ago, while creating our school. Their input helped us develop the S centered philosophy that we still follow. They gave me the courage I needed to leap. #edugladiators
A4: I have developed wonderful friendships. It has pushed me and inspired me to always strive to be better. It has also encouraged me to build and share resources with others. #EduGladiators
A4: There are so many people I consider friends that I would not have without Twitter. And as I tweeted several times in side convos this morning, TWitter and connections are, hands down, the #1 thing that made me a better teacher! #edugladiators
A3: social media! I've connected with many great educators through Twitter, Facebook, and Google+. We use Hangouts, @padlet, and Google Sites to collaborate -- it's so great to watch students connect with their peers around the world! #edugladiators
I know, right!?! It's like the last day of summer camp! I miss everyone SO much! It's inspired me to up the number of conferences that I attend though! Make sure to clue me in on any must attends!! ✨#EduGladiators
Hi Bethany, me too, always amazed at when I can say, my friend from Singapore or Argentina, and chat with them right away through one of the diff SM tools #edugladiators
A3: Integrate those type of activities into lessons. Build authentic learning opportunities for them - be intentional in giving specific feedback. #EduGladiators
A4 Being connected has helped in being able to share/exchange/develop ideas for enhancing the academic services we provide our students and communities #EduGladiators

A4 we are granted with the opportunity to connect and collaborate with educators around the world. Take Twitter as example, very day we are inspired by new ideas, new activities, new experience that can be applied into our own classroom immediately. #EduGladiators

So agree, it can be a really lonely profession if educators don't connect, whether in real life or through social media, we need those relationships and conversations #edugladiators
Yes!!! Please do! There is an adorable coffee shop called @RedbeardsCoffee! It'd be perfect! If you happen to be around on a Tues. evening, even in Lincoln (not far), we could always get together for #XPLAP too, that'd be a blast! #EduGladiators
I do love @padlet for this, we used it for our global #PBL started with @edmodo and @Flipgrid and then had a PAdlet to share photos, ideas, ask questions #edugladiators

A2: Greater chance of being able to experience authentic learning opportunities. A globally connected teacher can bring to the table a very unique perspective on things! #EduGladiators
that is a great idea, for our #PBL I wanted Ss to connect with someone that could offer more authentic information, answer questions, made a big difference #edugladiators
We use @padlet for an introductory activity where students can ask questions, share pictures, and social media info. I love to hear about their Snapchat "streaks" with their friends around the world! #edugladiators

A1: The world is at our Ss fingertips. Teachers need to be “globally aware” if they wish to properly guide their students and develop the 6C’s. #EduGladiators
A4b Being connected has allowed me to offer students additional supports (blog posts and other only resources I've developed) allowing my students to have multiple supports 24/7 #EduGladiators

And of course, that powerful and deeply human community built by @johncroftnorton and with all of us lives on physically @middleweb (and website) as well as in our ongoing personal connections, in our daily actions and interactions, and in our souls. #edugladiators

Q3: #EduGladiators@Rdene915
This is A-ha moment for me!PLN is also applicable for children! For my younger Ss, we can help them set up Twitter Account and to follow topics of their interests, using literature apps to form Ss' own reading community can be also a great idea.
Q3: #EduGladiators@Rdene915
A3: This is so interesting, yesterday we held a seminar to present our paper, one of my classmates finding was: having an international teacher and participate in immersion programs benefits Ss to be more acceptable about new ideas and new culture.
A4. Also since jan 17 we started a group in FB about playgrounds and recess. This community is changing many views and practice about children's play. Proud of it! #edugladiators
