A1) For OL I would have to say stance and starts. If you don’t continually reinforce a good stance then everything else will start deteriorating #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: DL- There are several but the main one is block reaction. Making sure our guys understand the blocks they will get that week and how to properly fit up and get off of them and make a play to me is critical. Run and pass blocks. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: Tackling Progression, if you can’t tackle you can’t stop em. If you can’t stop em you can’t beat em. After that footwork, you have to be able to flow through traffic without getting tripped up on trash or your own feet. #txhsfbchat
A1: For wideouts we want to be technicians in our route running, so our favorite drill is red light green light, sink those hips, pump those arms! #txhsfbchat
For me it as an OL guy, and a C/G coach in our Wing T, it is our "Buck Pull" drill. Our offense is based on that series, and they way we execute that pull with our guards is imperative for the success of that series. 2nd drill for me is Down and Trap drill. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: I'm HFC but Coach OL & we cannot give up is - Option Drill - basically 2 1/2 lines with 2 sets of backs, 1st team backs & center go left 1st & 2nd team backs & center go right. We run IV , OV & etc during this against what we are going to see - really physical #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: As an oline coach I could never give up the double team drill (2 Olineman and 1 defensive lineman, 1 linebacker. The two lineman double up the Dline man and work up to backer) It’s a major staple in the zone scheme #txhsfbchat
A1: stance and start. IMO, if you can’t get lined up properly and know how to start, you wont have the chance of being successful in any play. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1 stance and start drills. Firm believer that footwork is crucial for offensive line play, and stance and start drills are a great way to practice that. As my old O-Line coach would say, "it's the little things" #TXHSFBCHAT
A1.) WR’s- Routes on air. Timing with the QB. Hitting the right point and attacking downfield.
DB’s- Tackle circuit. #HawkTackle Eyes In Thighs. Wrap and Squeeze. And Drive for 5. #TXHSFBCHAT
A1: WR- Stalk Blocking reaction drills (don't get blown by or juked)
LB- Read and react- simulate keys that we'll see in games. This has to become muscle memory #TXHSFBCHAT
I don't feel ALL 3rd party guys are bad!!! we love 3rd party helping... we tell our guys not to pay for it as a program... I also don't think college coaches don't trust us... unless you are giving them reasons not to. #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: I feel that us HS coaches can sell the player better than someone outside our program. We are around them more and can be more honest with a college coach. Also college coaches are always going to stop by your place. There not going to stop doing that. #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: Reality Check! After 30 plus years this is what I know as the truth - Colleges will contact every #HSFBCoaches they possible can. No matter how big or how small, and they will always come back as long as you never WASTE THEIR TIME! 3rd Parties are Predators #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: trust no 3rd party system. All they want is your money. Makes me cringe when I see parents shell out $500 to get their “exposed” go to actual camps hosted by the colleges. If your kid can ball then someone will find him #txhsfbchat
If a college coach isn’t trusting you as a high school coach, you have given them reason not to. I’m not a fan of the 3rd party guys, JMO but I think they are the reason kids makes the unhealthy choice of specializing. #txhsfbchat
A2: We HS coaches do as much as we can, but I also tell the kids to be their own best salesperson. They can do everything a service can for free, just as long as they take the time. This is also my personal belief #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: 3rd parties and our relationship with them as HS coaches is a slippery slope. I stay away. I think comments like that are made to catch the eye of parents who are gullible and under-educated on the process. High School Football coaches still matter in recruiting. #TXHSFBCHAT
we are a 4 front team ... we will slide down and rock our Will to the 2x1 LOS because our SS has to set to edge on strong side ... Very tough formation especially with PA attached ... old school football
#TXHSFBCHAT
With the WRs, it’s definitely blocking. If you don’t block then you don’t get the ball thrown to you. With the DBs, breaking down and tackling in space #txhsfbchat
2 TE or TE Wing inside the 10 we probably have a blitz check with Man coverage. Expecting run or if pass we can get pressure back there fast #TXHSFBCHAT
A2: I'll tell guys never to pay for a recruiting service. Not all are bad. I'm always going to be honest with college coaches. I'll help kids wherever I can get recruited but I'll also be honest with coaches about any red flags. #TXHSFBCHAT
A2 why pay for something that your coaches are willing to help you every step up the way with? Just seems like a way to scam people out of money #TXHSFBCHAT
A1) DL stance starts, block destruction drills, LB’s run fits and tackling, Safeties reads and tackling, CB’s movement drills, and tackling
#TXHSFBCHAT
A3: Against ace inside the 10 i’d probably bear down & hv my defense run a toro cov. philosophy putting themselves between the qb & receiver. Always use this approach when N the red zone & u can use ur 12th man to defend the pass. But it also depends on their tendency #txhsfbchat
A2) if a kid can afford it can be an extra way to get notice. However we have always told kids that your film don’t lie and college coaches will always want to hear from your Hs coaches and we will never lie for you
#TXHSFBCHAT
A3: Without knowing tendencies I'm going to expect run going to a 4 man front slant strong and play cov 3, or 1 behind it probably bringing some inside blitz too. #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: Winger or Wing with or with out Flex Tag - we are a Veer Option Team that still likes using a TE. #TXHSFBCHAT Typical Play Wing Flex Double Left (Inside Veer)
A4: Offset I, either with the TE tight or in the slot. I prefer the slot to take guys out of the box, but this year our TE is a stud downhill blocker so he’ll be tight a lot #txhsfbchat
A4: Winger or Wing with or with out Flex Tag - we are a Veer Option Team that still likes using a TE. #TXHSFBCHAT Typical Play Wing Flex Double Left (Inside Veer)
A4: Anything with multiple backs in the backfield, either an H Back or Full House Formation. Allows you to go multiple directions with your backs and slows the LBs reads. Gives our OL more time on the double team at level 1 #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: Our staff believe that week to week we will find a distinct advantage with one of two formations. Double Tight Double Wing & 2-4 Unbalanced with Double Wings. We believe that with study we can find our gap advantage in the run game with one of the two formations. #TXHSFBCHAT
A4: Last season towards the end of our Junior High season, this was our best formation. Our best linemen were on the right side and the TE was pretty solid. I would call sweep bc our RB could out-run anybody we played. As a changeup, I would call four verts to the TE
#txhsfbchat
A5.) 4 verts. Each WR has their own landmark. No matter the formation same landmark. It works. Especially when 2 certain WR’s are lined up together it gets another threat open. I love the off season! Gains in the weight room are phenomenal so far for my guys! #TXHSFBCHAT
A3: Several ways to combat Ace (if wing, just reduce the CB & alert Hi-Lo = Cloud). Base = Solid Under Sky (w/ invert wk (call the cov. Under - similar to C3). Several options though, but always from an Under Front (can go wide 9). #txhsfbchat

A5: We like to use this in 2nd and medium or short, D is expecting Option we hit them with 3 step timing & rhythm route combos taking advantage of aggressive LB's & SS #TXHSFBCHAT
Q6: Which special teams unit do in your program do you feel you can gain the greatest advantage in? Do you employ unique formations with it? #TXHSFBCHAT
A6: Punt and kickoff. We put our best cover guys on it and go attack and put the return team at a disadvantage. Makes a difference in field position and being able to get stops and get the ball back to the offense in great field position. #txhsfbchat
A6: this past year we made big plays blocking punts and returning kickoffs. This year we’re gonna add PAT/FG block to the mix. Seems like people just put their biggest guys on FG and tell them to block. We’re gonna outcoach these people and take points off the board!! #txhsfbchat
A6: We are rugby style punt team, simply to add us with coverage. What is unique is we run a full offense out of our Punt Team Formation & we will. This forces teams to use valuable time on our gimmick Punt Team #TXHSFBCHAT
A6: For us it is our Punt unit. We use a Rugby Punt with 2 wing backs, twins WR to the right, and a single WR to the left. We use all 53 yds of the field in our alignment. We have distinct keys & lanes, multiple built in fakes, and are aggressive in our approach. #TXHSFBCHAT
Toss up between KO and KOR. Not fortunate enough to have a kicker to put them deep so we attack with what we have. However, aggressive l/fast guys take L&R 1-3. But KOR I have some ideas I’m pitching this summer l. If we can increase the score by 7 pts via ST its a + #TXHSFBCHAT
A6: Punt. field position can make all the difference. I like using shield punt and twins/ motions to try to get free releases downfield. We also do our fair share of quick kicks when in the "grey" area #TXHSFBCHAT
A6: Punt...first because we are pretty unpredictable when we will...we like to use all 4 downs, but when we do, we have full confidence in our D. #TXHSFBCHAT
A6: KOC gotta have a hitman attitude. Last year we didn’t allow a single return for TD and the avg return was only 13 yards. I think that really boosts defensive confidence and allows them@to get off the field faster. #txhsfbchat
A6: we love relay races, lineman punt challenge, etc. But the best is rap song or race horse...one coach for O, one coach for D...absolutely hilarious #txhsfbchat
A7.) at my previous school they did the Indian Olympics. Looking to add that. Singing. Basketball. 7 in 7. Dodgeball. Tug of War. Eating. Anything. Competition. #TXHSFBCHAT
HSSocialMedia : RT txhsfbchat: Q6: Which special teams unit do in your program do you feel you can gain the greatest advantage in? Do you employ unique formations with it? #TXHSFBCHAThttps://t.co/G0iAeIdGLp
I can’t think of a single drill, but we TRY to instill a competitive mindset into everything we do. Even when testing we group with guys that we think are within 5-10 lbs/.1-.2 sec. of each other. #txhsfbchat
We always like TE/ wr to the boundary and twins to the field. Vs even teams we like the look we get to the TE side with rb leading for qb that way or power/power read that way
#TXHSFBCHAT
A7: Root Drill. It's who we are! This drill is a leverage drill with both players locked together (Players tuck their head under opponents shoulder= no collision) on all fours. The rules= Keep hands & feet on the ground. Root your opponent out of the circle. Compete. #TXHSFBCHAT
A6) to build some toughness we did the one on one rope drill in offseason and lifting sessions, in season one on ones in front of team trying to knock guy out of three yard box. No pulling, just driving, working on resetting hands and hips and battling
#TXHSFBCHAT
