#aussieED Archive
#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.

A1: the making of new ideas
A1: There are so many facets to creativity, from thinking to creating and doing.
A1. Thinking outside the box. Trying new ideas & ways of working. Expressing yourself differently from ur norm
Ever get that feeling someone is following you? : )
Love Lisbon when I was there 12 years ago!
Love Lisbon when I was there 12 years ago!
A1: Creativity happens when areas of knowledge overlap
I have been streaming ‘focus/study’ music to keep the mind calm
Kelly from Sydney here - HS Science T - people always ask how to get creativity into Science... I always find a way :p
Great minds think (and do) alike! LOL
A1: Creativity means looking at and treating life from different perspectives through expression, ideas, new activities.
yep, I coudn't think how to describe it briefly. Liek what you have said.
A1. being able to make or recreate something new, thinking, designing, tinkering and crafting.
I'm flying into Brisbane very early tomorrow https://t.co/oNxMbjcCjc
Hey Kim from Brisbane. Looking forward to my first chat back for while - let the gritty convo flow
Creativity - freedom of ideas, thoughts, opinions
so then do you include any T2 quotes in your reports?? "There's 215 bones in the human body. That's one." etc
A1 To me creativity is about doing something your own way
So you excel already? Nice!
A1. Creativity is the talent of finding new and clever ways of interpreting stimulus.
A1 - allowing Ss the chance to create something from their own imagination and embracing this opportunity
A1: Using an idea in a way that you have never known it to be used before.
Creativity is fun to me! I love experimenting, making, and playing with lots of materials!
A1. Creativity is looking at/doing something from a different perspective. Doesn't necessarily mean arts & crafts
Hi, My name is Reem from Jordan! is a great app to do assessment & reporting, engage with Ss from ur mobile safely
Creativity is looking at something in a new way. Innovation is creating brand new
is it to benefit yourself or the greater good as well? https://t.co/eKqLbEq2BX
A1 To me creativity is about doing something your own way
A1. Like the idea of creativity being something new, could be new for each indiv, value of it is subjective.
A1- thinking outside the box. Sometimes throwing away the box!
A1 Creativity for me is when art meets meaning without meaning it is just mess
Q1 What is your understanding of creativity? Comment on another tweep's tweet about this, same/different? https://t.co/IDzVonkOXr
does it always have to have meaning? https://t.co/z55ggWJTyM
A1 Creativity for me is when art meets meaning without meaning it is just mess
A1. Letting the passion within overflow beyond oneself
A1 - Creativity is a skill that’s boundless, personal & something every1 is capable of -generating ideas, thinking style or making
Creativity is seeing a box and not just seeing a box but seeing possibilities
A1 Play with things, try new ideas, change things.... have fun
when is it not report season! :-)
Throw that box out! Or at least recycle it!😁 https://t.co/3A03h1iqVo
A1- thinking outside the box. Sometimes throwing away the box!
A1 If it's the 1st time I've thought of it, is it still original? Creativity is thinking outside the box. https://t.co/dF0rhT582S
Q1 What is your understanding of creativity? Comment on another tweep's tweet about this, same/different? https://t.co/NrSrb2fMSt
maybe one, maybe the other, maybe both. Depends on the idea
Sometimes the best things come out of the mess you might not have been intending to make though.
Hi Casrl from Avonsleigh Victoria
Jumping in now as I got sent down the shop for milk
A1.. The Voice AU is my excuse tonight, but then again you need to balance your work/personal life
A1 creativity - the urge to create & construct knowledge physically & mentally
A1: Seeing the box, recognizing the box, feeling totally comfortable with the box, and then purposely avoiding it.
": A1: Creativity happens when areas of knowledge overlap " Creative springboard for the day.
A1: Is creativity our ability to create or innovate. I guess innovation gives creativity a voice! Making moves an idea to reality
Hi! I'm not teaching in a school anymore but still work in education & I'm interested in issues. I'll probably lurk tonight!
creativity comes in many forms, has as much to do with thinking as creating.
a1: the process of having new ideas and taking risks with your thinking
A1. Creativity is what occurs when there are constraints to what you are doing but you want to do more
Hey are you awake for the chat??
A1) Creativity is being able to take ideas on whichever path you wish
Usually wake up in the middle of chat, but toddler was happy to provide a 6AM alarm this AM so here I am!
A1 depends on perspective creativity needs to have value, but is it enough to be valued by individual or does it need to be group?
and having a culture where people know it's OK to be out of the box!
love the taking risks part https://t.co/n6gfk3YmbM
a1: the process of having new ideas and taking risks with your thinking
Choose you own adventure https://t.co/Nylo5EsDFh
A1) Creativity is being able to take ideas on whichever path you wish
Thanks, nice to meet you, Jodie.
A1 it's when one person's word sparks something in your head you just cannot control!
God love noisy kids https://t.co/NpOe5KDq42
Usually wake up in the middle of chat, but toddler was happy to provide a 6AM alarm this AM so here I am!
Great way to put it ... big factor is the willingness to take risks.
creativity needs the right environment to flourish - need to allow for lateral thinking in assessment
A2 schools can find it hard to manage timetables so Ss have 'flow' time need to address the issue of silos in secondary schools
A1. For me creativity is expression about your ideas doing some different way https://t.co/qULr44pIcI
Q1 What is your understanding of creativity? Comment on another tweep's tweet about this, same/different? https://t.co/NrSrb2fMSt
Definitely. Choose your own way of choosing your own adventure
creativity is thinking differently, possibly going against the grain!
Creativity is the ability to think critically and afresh about everything to identify new possibilities and ways of being
Or could innovating be making something new from something we know?!
A2. I honestly believe that schools teach the creativity out of children, w/ conformity & sameness becoming the rule
A1: Creativity is expression of thought / action, in the moment, the origin of the thought / action previously unexpressed
A1: Creativity is real life magic. Sone times it's hard to have an understanding of magic...
A2, haha, turn to page 93, do the Q1 LHS of exercise 3.2 Algebraic Expressions. Sorry, I do this but mix it up as well. :-)
The benefits of student-led learning.
A1. Creativity is trying out new ideas and skills without being afraid to make a mistake
A1: Fear of unknown or change in status quo can seriously damper creativity. Can make new ideas difficult for Ss and Ts.
A1 processes that come from unique individual that addresses an issue or relevant (complex) problem
A2: Schools kill creativity when the silos are too tight or without formative assessment. Safe risks allow thinking to change
Is that not being creativity? Maybe its semantics
Oh I really like this definition of creativity https://t.co/cBXln2AMER
A1. Letting the passion within overflow beyond oneself
A2 not sure - I haven't worked in a stifling school!
A2) Schools try and force a particular curriculum. They fear different and things that might be immeasurable
A2 Sometimes I feel we rush or stifle creativity due to time restraints
A2: In U.S. it's the that kills creativity w/ there multiple choice tests needed to pass 2 graduate. Ts fight this daily
Fear can be so limiting in developing growth and new experiences! A1
A2. Pigeon-holing subjects into boxes in the high school sector leads to diminished creativity https://t.co/Q2WtF9fj8U
A2: We conform, take less risks. Restricted by curriculum demands.
A1 Creativity being able to explore, create investigate without boundaries to provide the world with another way of thinking/being
completely agree - creativity needs less boundaries/ constraints.
with out risks you can't have creativity
Finishing reports. Back to Aussie Ed next week. Catch you all then
One of my exams I have just written included references to Total Recall if that counts
A2 Kill too harsh, more like stifle. Ts do this to get through everything. Creativity can lead you away. https://t.co/Al1SS2k9J8
A2. I think schools can kill creativity with the way they choose to respond to state requirements.
A1: creativity is doing things with an open heart and enthusiastic mind! It's about seeing the value in everything
A2 Don't think schools intentionally kill creativity ... They just take away the environment in which it flourishes
yep and knowing when to go with it or stay within the box ;)
A1) Creativity gives academic knowledge its power and usefulness in the real world, it cultivates an active mind
A1. Some schools do! I think our archaic systems kill creativity more than schools!People need the freedom 2 react 2 the stimulus!
Administrators who think different is poor teaching, without looking at student outcomes
A2. Ts lose the ability to be creative thru prescriptive curriculums & Ss lose creative opportunities as a result
Yes! Micromanaging can be so frustrating! Allow freedom and assume best positive intent for Ss and Ts. https://t.co/c0Krtb7LI6
I agree but often more scaffolding to start with. #
A2. I'm not sure schools do, curriculum crowding, expectations & lack of time can. Industry recognises creative time is essential.
I don't know question but believe Creativity leads to Innovation~history repeats over & over out of the box thinkers are inventors
A2 Part 2 - Timebaling in Sec Schools can kill creativity -bell goes every 52mins - if your on a roll - have to stop
Possibly questioning why the box in the first place as a launchpad to innovate https://t.co/cvD5D9N0NU
A1- thinking outside the box. Sometimes throwing away the box!
And it’s nice to meet you Patti!
a2. I'm thankful for Ts at my school who are trying new things to build creativity like &
A2 only if they teach compliance or subscribe to "fill the empty vessel" pedagogy. Creativity can spawn from boredom though
A2: YES! The biggest killer of creativity is formal assessment and the whole ‘recipe’ way of assessing learning.
its when I hand curriculum over to Ss that I really see creativity.
That is a common theme globally I think. We just had our NAPLAN national assessments https://t.co/eH5y0YtAT4
A2: In U.S. it's the that kills creativity w/ there multiple choice tests needed to pass 2 graduate. Ts fight this daily
A2 schools do not kill creativity, bureaucracy and compliance kills creativity.
Also don't think you can have creativity without the willingness to fail.
A2) only have to listen to to hear what happens. It is up to Ts to provide time away from manic testing!! Data !!
thank you Reem for your support! :)
And the mindset that t creates in students who can't transfer a skill from one subject to another https://t.co/0A5URKYw1R
A2. Pigeon-holing subjects into boxes in the high school sector leads to diminished creativity https://t.co/Q2WtF9fj8U
Totally agree Dennis. We don't mean to. https://t.co/QawPg39CqR
A2 Don't think schools intentionally kill creativity ... They just take away the environment in which it flourishes
A2: Spend all yr. in school sparking flame of creativity, & R forced2 stuff Ss in a box 2 prepare for multiple choice state tests
A2: they do... curriculum restraints and time. Schools are far too data driven.
A1 . Timetables can kill creativity more than schools themselves.
A2 Schools only kill creativity when the lead is the teacher and the focus is on teaching and regurgitation.
A2 Some do. Creativity needs to be part of a school's culture
A2 - Not sure schools do, but definitely Ts could work together to increase Ss opportunities to experience creativity
A2 You cannot standardize creativity ... Like when an art class restricts an artist because that is not what we a learning today.
I agree and the learning and outcomes become exponential.
yes seeing everything put in front of them in a unique way
A2 restraints, constraints, negativity, being time poor, caveats...
Made me think of 'This is Sadie' by . Starts w Sadie in a box, but it's not a box, it's a boat! https://t.co/13fKZYV9Ka
Creativity is seeing a box and not just seeing a box but seeing possibilities
A2 I think that sometimes Ts is their desire to get through the curriculum can squash Ss creativity
Hi Ruth from Sydney here dropping in late due to report writing
Yes but unfort I’m seeing more & more of this in schools due 2 increased pressure 2 perform on standardized tests
nice Andrew and most probably explicit in verbal and visual form.
There is a need for a real re-think of what we value as 'education' https://t.co/eH5y0YtAT4
A2: In U.S. it's the that kills creativity w/ there multiple choice tests needed to pass 2 graduate. Ts fight this daily
And teh idea that assessment must measure one solution https://t.co/cpRCqgIQkM
A2: YES! The biggest killer of creativity is formal assessment and the whole ‘recipe’ way of assessing learning.
A2: In our schools we have maker spaces, hands on learning, 3D printers, robotics, music studios, coding 4 all ages its awesome
The inability to standardize creativity is why the arts are so often de-emphasized. Can't quantify so less important.
A2 yes, if they are on a constant search for consistency, conformity and standardisation
Creativity to me is all about having lots of ideas and so when I am busy and tired I find it really hard to come up with new ideas
Yes we see pockets of success and wonder…but the majority isn’t like this unfortunately
schools devalue creativity when programs are focused on measuring the "outcome" of learning https://t.co/RkFhsIIPtb
often, they stop taking risks
Interestig Jodie, in our Year 9 & 10s, assessments is now only for four skills, more focus on learning instead.
A2. Trying to fit it all in can kill/stifle creativity, but then again creativity is often what's needed to do it
at the point when the focus switches to results & league tables.
A2: sometimes some imp concepts such as creativity are lost between rules & guidelines
When Micromanaging occurs growth is so often stunted
A2 Our assumptions about school stifle our creative capacity & this in turn may impact on Ss learning
A2) Yes, with text books, rinse and repeat lessons, learners need wonder, curiosity to think critically and be creative
In Sec'dary more so - especially in high end. Exams, ATAR Scores .. that only ever get used once to enter a Uni
Me too! How great would it be if more for the decision makers saw it this way?
A2: Not schools as much as systems. When tests are more important than learning. When data makes people look silly.
Nice John, If we do assess, it shoudl on the journey and self-determination of the students.
Sorry I'm late sick small person.
A2: by not providing enough time or space in the curriculum for it to flourish. Constant stop / start is 'anti-flow'
Hopefully they will role model this to others and inspire to follow. But the culture needs to be there first
Reframe them. There are a multitude of amazing patterns in them. Explore them, be curious, what can u see? https://t.co/LgD204sDQc
A1 . Timetables can kill creativity more than schools themselves.
not all schools - it depends on what their purpose of education is, values, pedagogy...
Definitely in both forms. Involving all stakeholders. My q is how to get parents on board
wow! Im impressed, way to go patti. We are happy to see schools like these.
It’s sad that there are so many students that don’t fit that mould.
I’m more focused on EC & Primary. I think this is where we educate Ss out of creativity, free thinking & ?ing unfit
Maybe the way we assess kills creativity in schools?
Well said! https://t.co/oG6hanrQiZ
A2 You cannot standardize creativity ... Like when an art class restricts an artist because that is not what we a learning today.
A2 Systems demands& need for the appearance of equality limit creativity, flexibility and responsiveness to ss needs
Then only some students benefit 😓
A2: Took out unused lockers/ put in computer charging stations, benches, whiteboards in hallways. Schools waiting 4 gov.2 catch up
Often most effective way is via the students growing voice and agency.
Often most effective way is via the students growing voice and agency.
A2 schools can/do thru prescriptive demands however Ts do also by allowing themselves to dull & desensitise to it
A2 not all schools - love following innovative mindset
Nicely put! https://t.co/KHdbRHrcIo
A2 yes, if they are on a constant search for consistency, conformity and standardisation
A2. Yes the tradicional teaching kill the creativity because the goal is only reproduction. https://t.co/juL7jiESBy
in FL we try. Our arts classes all have end of year tests covering standards ... Little room for actual creativity
tweeps the next 3 Qs have some reading bytes to provoke your thinking, take time to read them
A2 - I say yes. One hand we have new great learning theories/evidence. On the other, we are bound by old structures
HS is a huge killer and often a promoter and driver of conformity.
A3: Everyone should play a role, particularly the school is allowing for a student’s diversity to be embraced and encouraged.
A3: Because creativity is contextual. What works here may not work anywhere else. May not even be creative? Culture matters.
A3) Because creativity does not fit in one box and all need to allow it or it stifles
So true Ruth! It's about our curiosity too. Schools in USA do not provide time to just wonder
A3. individual Ts can model creativity in classes & hope the infection spreads... I know I am trying!!
Yep. I teach them too in VCAL, - applied learning - they think - we're the dummies - challenge to change mindset.
A3. Because creativity is valuable 2 community as a whole, we all need 2 speak up & be activists 4 creativity in ed
It's so encouraging when admin give teachers the freedom to foster creativity I their classrooms
I'd like to be one of the "Risk Takers" Students ~ The academic growth potential would be amazing!
Because creativity often is most effective in a collaborative environment and where creativity can be encouraged.
don't you think formative assessment supports creativity by allowing and appreciating Ss skills?
If we see possibilities instead of barriers, schools are full of potential for creative license https://t.co/A1EziFafjF
A2 Our assumptions about school stifle our creative capacity & this in turn may impact on Ss learning
Good Night All - I have to go but I will follow the chat later. Have a great evening.
A3 Schools can't exist in isolation, we need to connect transform learning experiences for Ss. Experts, businesses, social grps inc
is now trending in USA, ranking 30
Well from what I can understand HS is the nails in the coffin of creativity due 2 the promotion of conformity
A3. Ts need support from above though - it can be hard to instigate meaningful change w'out that assistance
Sad but true, that's why I hate seeing NCEA in Year 10 or even Year 9. Let the students learn and play.
Hey just back from work. How are we all? What have I missed?
can't we be the change we want to see? https://t.co/EGMvW4pkDC
A3. Ts need support from above though - it can be hard to instigate meaningful change w'out that assistance
Focusing on learning content without focusing on applying content suppresses creativity. Have to hit the last step of application!
we have some integrated learning/programs at our school in yr 7 and yr 9.
A3: find me a part of your life (and education) that would not benefit from creativity. That's why we are ALL stakeholders
A3: If my creativity threatens others, making sense is important. Why always matters. Understand the thinking behind the method.
A3: Don't accept the "I'm not creative" line, from Ts as well as Ss.
I think creativity & thinking differently is put of life support by the end of primary education
Nicely put. Then in the workforce, we wonder why there's no creativity!
A2:for some teachers it's the lack of control they like to know what is coming in their lessons
C'mon Stuart, I was hoping you had brought a band aid with you
A3 culture must be there so must go forth collectively as a school branding your school's innovative mindset
A3 everyone plays a role, but school principals & leaders set the direction
A3 We all do from principal to teacher to support. If we all value creativity then we have a collective. https://t.co/S09VrjBRue
BTW didn't mean 2 B rude. Hello 2 all familiar faces,& nice to meet new people. Its not quiet 7am here, waking up w/ ed talks LOVE
A3: Leaders should encourage creativity in Ts. Ts encourage it in Ss. Ss should inspire it for both.
I teach at a school and even there sometime difficult to allow kids to be creative
A2. Sometimes. Because as soon as you attach a rigid rubric, that discourages students to think or respond differently
A3. Admins allow time for, Ps see value in, Ts give opp for then Ss feal supported & become masters of creativity All need to work
"It's to encourage myself not to accept a lead role in a cage...I wanna be engaged."
Formative, yes. Summative, not always. Depends on the school and the context.
Unfortunately agree Jodie. And those who try and make a stand get crushed
No statewide requirements in MI yet. Depends on district. Hoping it stays away for now!
I think school was a time of great creativity for me as a student! We read, wrote, sang, played, made... https://t.co/x9LP2Bwiqk
Amen sister! Creativity needs vision & sometimes our edu leaders are wearing blinkers.
https://t.co/cwR2sFddKT
A3. Ts need support from above though - it can be hard to instigate meaningful change w'out that assistance
A3: because we need support in resources and time, and creativity is better when designed in groups
I think ultimately society does, we despise creativity if it's at the expense of results. A3
A2: It is not schools (as a place individuals gather) that kill creativity but rather the paradigm or set of beliefs operating
Hey! We're answering Q3 now! The topic is "creativity" :)
Creativity is a way of thinking. If not cultivated students start to "study for tests" instead of studying for understanding.
As I said - Ts can create the spark/be the change, but need the help to make it a school/system/nation wide thing...
Clipping a teacher's wings stifles creativity too...
A3 because change cannot be effected alone and if it is to be sustained and built upon it needs a team.
I completely agree. The more time we give our students (and ourselves) to think through ideas the better.
My experience has been there’s a lot of peer pressure amongst Ts 2 conform & drop creativity also
classroom environment also has part to play - individual desks facing front, in rows ...
Difficult to be a standards based educator and foster an environment that allows for unfettered creativity
Sometimes admin too concerned with parent backlash, rather than trusting in the Ts to provide engaging pedagogy?
A3) Social Media plays a huge role too Seen SO many wonderful creative lessons/ideas from using
Safety in numbers and a shared vision & purpose helps,
Hi! High school Maths/STEM teacher in the western suburbs who loves creativity
A3 islands of excellence in schools are lonely places, nd 2develop school wide approaches to innovation + create solutions 2gethwr
I wonder if some Ts are afraid of creativity as they do not see themselves as creative?
A3 yes if we focus on product instead of process
A1Using your imagination! Translate your ideas into something or solve a maths problem using creativity! https://t.co/hRZZkhfoBv
A3 islands of excellence in schools are lonely places, nd 2develop school wide approaches to innovation + create solutions 2gether
Although some time that has to start with the classroom teacher - small steps to change culture. https://t.co/sE0wFudDqe
Amen sister! Creativity needs vision & sometimes our edu leaders are wearing blinkers.
https://t.co/cwR2sFddKT
A3. Ts need support from above though - it can be hard to instigate meaningful change w'out that assistance
We all play a role - we need the opp to demonstrate creativity to then ensure that it is fostered and encouraged for our students
hey!! I know you!! Welcome to :P
Absolutely. We need 2 educate community about good ped so pressure can be focused on holistic learning
A3: B/C must hurdle fear of unknown/only do 2gether. Once all on board, time 2 change--again must have buy-in must move forward
A2: When NAPLAN results dip (last years results), creativity is thrown out. Back to basics and teach to the test. Outdated data.
Oten because it's being driven by Year 12 results, even in Year 7. But thinking is a skill too
Yes! This is what learning should be about! Nurturing the "Thinker"
Whole focus of learning should be on LEARNING. Not grades, tests etc. Learning leads to creativity. Ask students why its important
Nice post. We need role model and encourage expressions of imagination in our learning spaces.
Truth! https://t.co/UgK0uoDttC
A3 islands of excellence in schools are lonely places, nd 2develop school wide approaches to innovation + create solutions 2gether
A3 My fav quote from one of my heroes
A3. Collective responsibility is vital, as were stronger & better together
A3 comes down to culture and ethos, and that is established by everyone
Some Ts need to see other environment options work successfully before they will try something different! https://t.co/L6F3vhLoy1
classroom environment also has part to play - individual desks facing front, in rows ...
SM has created SO much change in my teaching. Has inspired me to find ways to be more S driven & centered.
A3: I find it so ironic that schools are pushed to focus on other things, yet business and society loves ingenuity and genius
Yes - it's a dangerous reaction
A3: As a collective responsibility creativity is about addressing big issues - sustainable development
The teaching of the soft skills will continue to grow in importance in my opinion!
absolutely! But creativity isn't an 'is', it's a 'do'
A3 - As a collective we should be encouraging everyone involved in edu to embrace a and creativity
Rebecca, do you think there's ever benefit in using rubrics?
so true! Ps at PT night who own companies say they don't want to see test scores! They want to see Ss traits/skills
A3: we have to be creative with the curriculum as leaders and challenge the negative colleagues
not sitting around waiting for the 'leader' badge before acting Motto: Ask for forgiveness not permission https://t.co/sTrf0ZX9hP
can't we be the change we want to see? https://t.co/EGMvW4pkDC
A3. Ts need support from above though - it can be hard to instigate meaningful change w'out that assistance
A3 lone teacher on their own swimming against tide is not powerful enough. Whole school needed 2 swim against the tide together
If all Ts stand together as profs - we can create tipping point 4 change - but Ts fear job loss
think it has more to do with covering content/standards than fear of creativity ... Testable content over creativity
of course...there are several schools changing their way teaching
Yet maybe if S had better creativity they could think of better approached in NAPLAN
sorry to leave chat early, esp as topic so current my wellbeing activities mean I've lots of work to do for 2morrow!
the crowded curriculum and timetabling constraints can make it hard to foster creativity
we all have a role to play...we need to celebrate and foster the talents of creativity of T and Ss.
thanks for keeping me up to date
A3: 2 gain buy--in Need 2 model positivity & on days when not possible, stay away so as not to infect.
Yes. We need to change culture
A4: Outcomes based education to a degree - the whole must tick boxes/registration etc.
Me too! Great resources! Just completed SS unit proposal for communities, excited to try
Rigid timetables, where creativity is needed in 60 minute (no more) exposures then Ss moved on.
A4. Where do I start? State curriculum packages mandated in schools, standardized high stakes testing…
A3 must collectively agree to believe learning is an adventure to inspire more learning about what we don't know
Memorization of content without application hurts creativity. Says knowing is more important than understanding.
is it a focus on integration between STEAM, rather than teaching them separately?
A4 A-E reporting in some places
I think collaborating with Ta and using for it is a great example of creativity to support
Oh I agree@Hobson_k ! I work in the VET sector and the same applies!
Key word "we". It is possible, just takes commitment and time.
yes! Such power in teachers working to keep teachers positive, professional & empowered
A3. Nothing ever comes frm nothing. Sociocultural practice is the perfect breeding ground 4 creativity.Bounce ideas off ech other
Q4. As a student, often all questions have to be answered the same due to teacher preference
I agree, Ruth, but think about it. Have you ever met a Ts that didn't crave a challenge? We eat this stuff for Bfast
A4) Judging HS on Year 12 results rather than how individual students have developed over 6 years
A3: Tchrs, parents, etc. need to realise that divergent thinking—thinking “outside the box”—is a key element of creative thought.
A4:national testing where is the creativity in that? Pressure from leadership to follow structured curriculum
creativity exposes self ... Must have supportive environment free from ridicule ...
A4. Different is scary, different gets ostracized, curriculum is generalized not personalized
A4 lack of space, Tried to collaborate with Teacher/another class in yr 9 maths - finding a space big enough a challenge.
A4 - Following great educators who say and works great to allow Ss to grow, interested to see what doesn't
OT but if ts fight even small change, Y not go 4 big change? If you're going2have to fight y not make it worth it?
Difficult, yes. AND standards can be glorious constraints to push our creativity & innovative mindsets https://t.co/y34PqVavL4
Difficult to be a standards based educator and foster an environment that allows for unfettered creativity
A4 One size fits all model of teaching/learning for Ss & Teachers, performance pay & funding tied to testing? Lack of vision
A4: Testing is a big problem. It dictates "what's important." Creativity is hard to quantify things like the arts get left behind.
A4: parents who value textbook teaching
That's why the "no one answer" questions are so powerful, they celebrate the dreaming. A4
Giving reasons why we can't be creative...seems like half the problem!
A4: negative mindsets, dictatorial supervisors, lack of trust in teachers, focus on results, Liberals.
A4: Working against creativity : scripted curriculum, standardised testing, accountability over measured
A3: also up to the teacher to model creativity to students in their lesson planning, delivery, thinking...
A4. All Ss expected 2 all aim 2 same goals even tho different interests, strengths & needs
can your social media assistant takes notes on A4 might help your cause! https://t.co/GhwUEsOlA7
A4. Where do I start? State curriculum packages mandated in schools, standardized high stakes testing…
A4 detailed lesson planners can lead to Ts reading a script and not riding the waves of the lesson
Makes me want to tear my hair out and run down the street screaming!
A4 standardisation, top-down hierarchies, low levels of trust, avoidance of mistakes, one-size-fits-all approaches
A4 Standardised testing such as NAPLAN eat into our time to embrace creativity -as does a crowded range of curric expectations
we're assuming the teacher has capacity to do this?
Trying for first time right now. Also did student led piece earlier this yr. All thanks to SM.
A4 linking teacher performance to high stakes standardised testing.
too many Eds do not see value in creativity ... Must master these formulas first
Magdalene, go one step further any summative reporting in my opinion. A4
I think this is a big difference btwn PS & HS... MASSIVE differences in S & T numbers to drive change
Shhh, stop using bad words.
A4: budget restraints kill my creativity. I want resources, furniture, spaces. Answer is "sorry school doesn't have the money"
A4. I'm not convinced that any structured can stop creativity. You just have to think more creatively yourself 😉
A4: In U.S. lack of funding, EOY test that foster rote learning, Admin afraid of Ps, Lack of trust in Ts fm Admin. & other Ts.
Yes and then "oh sorry, we've run out of time!"
systems make it difficult but main limitation is the thinking of person delivering curric
A4 - Lessons restricted to an hour, not fluid, teacher up the front, stock standard content, the list can go on
How might we shift this mindset? 'they' say it, but what change does it need to become a priority? https://t.co/AxSEfLymod
too many Eds do not see value in creativity ... Must master these formulas first
A4: Teachers who ask for that script. Who are unwilling to learn and unwilling to risk their 'dignity' for the sake of learning.
Sadly no because we get the most amazing, original responses.
absolutely correct, I would love to be more creative - challenge is how, and ensuring pedgogy is sound.
A4) Standardized Assessments, textbooks, schools need to create a culture of inquiry, curiosity & creativity go hand & hand
A4. High stakes decisions being made based on standardised assessments, some schools choose to focus on specific areas.
all teachers have the capacity, it's the mindset that is the question
A4. Ts R discouraged from using diff approaches, personalized lessons in name of whole school app & time constraints
A4: most would argue that creativity is a process; yet most assessment is based on the product or end result. No marks for growth!
A4: Dictators for leaders motivating through fear, make it VERY difficult 2B creative.
We need to learn how to capture skills better as educators! Schools need to be able to show journeys!
so how would you change the teachers behaviour?
Need to focus on thinking and reflection and design backwards to the acitivities in play.
How do we strike a balance with this? https://t.co/4PAgHpekRv
A4. Ts R discouraged from using diff approaches, personalized lessons in name of whole school app & time constraints
completely agree - that's where the culture of environment is so important.
Or are they scared of getting it 'wrong'?
Wouldn’t that be like education nirvana.
A3 Championing creativity has many looks; easiest? Support colleagues who try new ideas
Buffalo Marathon , Muguruza , How High , , , , Game 7 , ,
we are also considered a school of the arts with some kids taking up to 4 arts classes a day
Absolutely! Focus on the process… not the product!
YEP.. if we try and Create an Edu money tree. :-)
the best way is to show/lead by example
and sometimes it's the big change they're happy/want to join and really value the impact
Go for quality learning and thinking over large regurgitations.
Go for quality learning and thinking over large regurgitations.
That's so awesome! You will love Genius Hr! My S did Minecraft for it, he inspired me to learn & bring to clssrm
A4 creativity needs Ss in action needs activities learning where Ss have the focus of their learning https://t.co/fpCc6mlI0w
So true, Ss follow what we do, not what we say!
A4 Direct instruction need I say any more...
A4 the only persons behaviour you can change is your own. Reflect on what u need to do 2 allow creativity to happen
A4: Following a timetable. Kids get on a creative roll and buzzzzz, there goes the bell.
If we don’t give students the chance to show what they are capable of creatively, they will just do what is required (or less).
A4. I wonder how many teacher's planning changes from year to year? Is the same thing taught simply to a new lot of students?
Competition isn't "Student Focused", If a Teacher wants to compete then look for new occupation
can't say foster creativity then tell teachers kids must pass test
A4: Performance based pay. Give me the script and I'll teach to it. Ss will hate it. Creativity-dead.Won't learn to think.
A4 great read 'Who Killed Creativity?' Andrew & Gaia Grant. attitude can hinder creativity, creativity across ALL subj not 2grade
A4: formative assessment is a focus at my school so I developed creative tasks to support the initiative but allow Ss 2 b creative
A4 creativity breeds in a school where it is part of the learning culture of all problem solving - killed if tr goes solo
Unfortunately standardized test are here for the foreseeable fut, need to find ways for creativity despite this.
Sounds v cool! Do you teach at a high school? And do Ts get much support for teaching ?
A3 Creativity is well loved, but scares many edu folks bc they feel unqualified to assess/foster it https://t.co/vMWr1DVxPm
A3: I find it so ironic that schools are pushed to focus on other things, yet business and society loves ingenuity and genius
A4 Having amazing colleagues being creative in their classroom can challenge you to stay creative with your class
Good point, what if we only assessed the journey and not the outcome?
Needs 2 start w/ respecting & treating Ts as the learning specialists they R, instead of asking them 2b delivery guy
I've seen teachers shy away from teaching their way, fear of backlash if it doesn't 'work'.
I disagree, in fact I would say that it makes you need to be more creative to justify how yr teaching fits the purpose
I think so. But so much good can come from getting it wrong!
too many don't see creativity as the gateway to true learning ...
having leadership say creativity is priority would help
A4: Genuis Hour... So much creativity.
A6. U CANT KILL CREATIVITY!
Exactly right, always looking to implement this in the classroom
YES.. my biggest bug bear... easy option, path of least resistance..
I agree, the vision should be beyond data.
A4: in some ways a system that values new additions but fears letting go of old traditions. Cluttered system that needs cleaning
A4 Classes categorised by subject. System AND T issue. Art is math, sci involves design. Nd for authencity w/in context
A4 Struggling with this one. There are pros & cons with all the things mentioned that could challenge us to think creatively.
that in itself requires creative collaborative discussion😀
So true. We need to learn how to work w/ the system we've got (even when it's not ideal) https://t.co/5GyOEIENdY
Unfortunately standardized test are here for the foreseeable fut, need to find ways for creativity despite this.
fear always makes people resort to what they know, feel safe with...
it is a preK to 8th grade ... Some kids go to an Arts high school
Absolutely, sets a great example for their students also. Not all in an admin position agree or a supportive.
At Aorere, we do, it's our hope for now and future.
At Aorere, we do, it's our hope for now and future.
We need to be the change we want to see. Culture develops from actions, not words!
Q5 HMW develop high social capital (for collective autonomy) that leads to improvement & innovation? https://t.co/CAFn7VJysI
Collaboration is always better than competition isn't it. After all we are all there for the students sake
I don’t have any problems with the tests themselves, just the tying of funding to them.
me too.. hasn't bothered me, thank goodness, stuffed up many times :-)
I don't believe you can only change your own behaviour. However leading by example is a good way to start
exactly - otherwise it becomes the excuse not to change or challenge.
Exactly. Those things don't happen in silos anywhere outside of school. Need better collaboration btwn subjects.
Clarke I raise your hour to a minute I use a genius minute in my class to share clever tips with tech
I don't know that standardised tests are inherently bad, it's more about how they are used for me.
Agreed - Ts creative thinking can arise from the standardised testing challenge
Q2: Don't believe schools kill creativity. It's a capability that is often a low priority
there is a lot of support but many Ts push back against to cover standards
The connectivity is a way to take a bit os creativity 😊
Has to be promoted through a school and does need explicit teaching in some cases.
Has to be promoted through a school and does need explicit teaching in some cases.
Q4 need to incentivise for collaboration = opps for ideas to be socialised = creative confidence in action https://t.co/WBrC5KoeYj
I respect that. But I said dictators, they don't ask/listenfor/hear reasoning. Its a gr8 idea until a Parent complains.
it when they become the main priority, the reason for doing everything...
Very cool! I admit I haven't really tried Minecraft. Mostly b/c I'm not sure how it could be incorporated into band.
In my experience personalised is taken as too much work, too hard, against 'my' plans.
A5 sharing our practice. Blog it, tweet it, get it out there to inspire others
A4 If there's a will there is a way!! Ts are creative ... our features in library and subject areas!
culture trumps strategy every time!
Really? 😳 Should work together w/Ss to find better solution, Hey class here is a real world prob...
A5 - What a great question - Provide students as many opportunities to show what they can do in an environment that is engaging
A5. At a local level, administrators can provide space 4 Ts 2 try new approaches - create a community of learning
A5: Schools need to embrace and encourage the left field and out of box thinkers - experience their learning and see the diff.
A5 Empathy within. Learn our colleagues strengths & relative weakness; collab on growth plan from there https://t.co/uzzaQKsfZN
Q5 HMW develop high social capital (for collective autonomy) that leads to improvement & innovation? https://t.co/CAFn7VJysI
But ultimately it sets both the teacher and student free!
But ultimately it sets both the teacher and student free!
A5. Must be willing to give up our silos & collaboratively consult. Team initiatives more important than ind. Find a team w/ wings
Easy to fall back on what is predictable unfortunately
I hear that a lot too, but I think it’s a poor excuse. As a Tchr myself, I know it’s doable
you can influence but you can't change and yes be te change you wish to see. Be a leader & inspire others
if they took time to 'know their learner' they'd be working smart not hard
that's great! the way to in HS
Thank you! But what Ts can &do continue to do well at is bore the crap out of the students daily https://t.co/QLFkVil6Sg
A6. U CANT KILL CREATIVITY!
A5 Once we prove our collective is working from place of intention, stakeholders calmed and eased https://t.co/uzzaQKaEBd
Q5 HMW develop high social capital (for collective autonomy) that leads to improvement & innovation? https://t.co/CAFn7VJysI
We take only dreamers and creators, welcome!
I'm going to make this a poster & put it on my classroom walls!!!
A5: collaborate, open classrooms, share resources/ideas, PBL, self-directed learning, build Ts and Ss confidence
Why I show up with bells on!
Build a learning community of adults. Share ideas, passion and resources. Conduct Action research as teams. A5
because culture is 'who' we are and 'what' we do, even when our words differ.
A5: mentor student and beginning teachers, know your impact, reflect & continue to learn. Become a HA/Lead tchr
Agreed. Seems hypocritical to expect teachers to treat students diff. than admin treat them.
there's space for creativity amongst all of this. Support thinking, questioning and understanding.
One-to-one does save so much wastage of resource, creativity and time IMO.
A5: remember that change always has to start somewhere, Ts always have some autonomy in classroom, start there and build.
A4: is it time we asked what is the purpose of education? Perhaps we will see a new answer to the one we got 50 yrs ago
Nothing better than saying "I have an idea" and getting "Great! How can we help?" as a response.
Time does need to be offered.
not quite that innovative, or out there - mainly english and humanities combined.
A4- financial restrictions- not being able to get resources
A5: needs to start with leadership, without it is like pushing a boulder uphill
and allow the wind beneath to lift it higher!
A5. Grass roots, get a small group starting first and prove benefits, gradually work upwards.
perhaps a more consultative approach to school planning?
A5: The culture has to be such that people can grow and learn together. Culture can't be stifling. https://t.co/vc6s5s1ncY
A5. State level - enc principals 2 create communities of lrning & innovation @ schools. Do away w/ State curriculum
Being able to share resources I agree definitely build Ts and Ss confidence
A5: inspire others, have a clear vision teachers will ultimately want to be apart of it this job is too hard to not love teaching
a4: ALLOW & trust Ts to differentiate their lesson according to ability NOT SOME TEST result!
Aaaah! Our latest chat was about music!Use noteblock! Create own or replicate
Yes, and it should be encouraged more and more. Look at history - the creative thinkers are the ones remembered.
A5 lead by example, be honest, be there for your colleagues, be the change you want to see
Totally agree. Yr 7 moved to HS in Qld last year. I know a school that gained extra 170 Ss & got no new rooms.
You make it sound so easy!
A5: brutally honest co-workers w/ ur best interest in mind helps keep accountable, prevents slip into default, they let u know.
Pedagogy trumps curriculum SNAP .. LOL ..
A5: Shared risk makes risk less risky! Knowing and giving voice to mistakes helps us to learn from and with one another.
A5 Social capital is what binds a school together -schools need collective goals, beliefs to create improvement & drive innovation
. & isn't just one person or at top. Nd to act on ideas then reflect rather than sit back & complain
A3: I don't see creativity as a collective 'responsibility'. But each individual brings creative energy to a collective
A5. At a federal level - provide the $$ 2 schools, but do not dictate how - allow personalized contextual use
Thanks for the another great chat , have to leave early to get things ready for the week ahead
Looks like I've got something else to add to my summer projects then! :) Thank you!
creativity hindered with black & white thinking..lots of blending of 2....leads to many shades of grey &
A5 Connect learning communities, leverage tech to create global villages, invite entrepreneurs, designers, give $$$ & time for this
Nice. The SC is the real pursuit of any school.
Student passion is the key! Seriously if a child has a creative passion in a content are why can't subjects be connected to that?
Q5 when people care about what needs to change. When you can see the value created from the change. https://t.co/zpHY17Yy0u
Q5 HMW develop high social capital (for collective autonomy) that leads to improvement & innovation? https://t.co/CAFn7VJysI
or just look around our schools for problems we can solve. Better yet, our Ss can solve!
It should be at the forefront yes?
What if leadership is considered too disruptive & innovative? What if there's a clique working against it? https://t.co/HCCAwIt03v
A5: needs to start with leadership, without it is like pushing a boulder uphill
Nice post and the right sort of learning spaces! A5
A5. Encourage Ts, Ss & schools 2 learn with & from each other - support more connection & collaboration
A5. Strong leaders play a big part. I'm lucky with
A5: We tend to always say it starts with leadership, but it rarely does. Starts at the grassroots... teachers in classrooms.
A5 ok maybe I need to sleep but what is being referred to HMW? 😁
agreed! a kid thinks they are good at something and a teacher says "just mouth the words" and they never sing again.
Student passion is the key! Seriously if a child has a creative passion in a content, then why can't subjects be connected to that?
A5 Grassroots works when admin & colleagues view your work as a garden rather than a weed https://t.co/k8pqLVqQZM
A5. Grass roots, get a small group starting first and prove benefits, gradually work upwards.
and clear, understandable vision!
and clear, understandable vision!
haha, I gave my yr 9 nets of 3D shapes - no instructions.. some interesting models, lol :-)
Less doing, more collaborating & creating meaningful learning experiences for Ss & Tchrs, time is essential! https://t.co/o0wJFyuaXU
Time does need to be offered.
A5 flatten management structures, expect and promote collaboration by all, and provide high levels of support and trust
A5: W/more data & less opinions. proof of success breaks dn barriers built on fear. Foster culture of adrenaline. Extreme Ed.
honestly? Move schools. Nothing changes leadership quicker than high staff turnover.
A5) Encourage Ss impulses to ask Qs & learn new things, be orchestrator of learning, knowledge is co-constructed with the learner
A5: Systems that reward creativity over compliance. I think we want to, but good news sells less papers than bad!
A5 Developing a culture where colleagues reflect and feedback to each other without fear would build creativity and risktaking
I agree with you! Creativity is empowering & engaging.
The doing the easy part! LOL
and too disruptive? Well, things usually slow down after a initial sprint.
😭😭😭 thank you Jodie 🎉🎉🎉 / I was thinking Homework and be like che!?
Then we identify locus of control & sphere of influence; train energy to those places
A1 agree TT’s are used to control rather than allow freedom to empower and engage learning
It’s like if you give Ss a piece of paper with a shape on it and ask them to draw, rather than say what to draw. Diff results.
It took me a little bit to work it out too :)
That's when the leader has to embrace the change and trust it will improve the school.
And essential for a viable and awesome future and community that continues to evolve.
A5: start a school and employ everyone in this chat. Education would look awesome and set the bar high!
A5b) Need to become guides, mentors, sources and resources make use of spontaneous teachable moments, scaffold student’s learning
Q6 Light reading first... HMW create a vision for learning that is creative, inclusive & sustainable? https://t.co/s2V5EbHU0Y
Time is not the issue! Allocation is! Who drives it? https://t.co/PvMsCQ6x2x
Less doing, more collaborating & creating meaningful learning experiences for Ss & Tchrs, time is essential! https://t.co/o0wJFyuaXU
Time does need to be offered.
A5: School being a place of learning for all stakeholders : students, parents, educators collaborating to common end - learning
and they are the worst kind of teachers. Hopefully it is the innovators that move into leadership.
A5: open door policy 4 other Ts 2 watch u at ur craft. Too often we protect R class like rare gems, we need to put them on display
Leadership expecting collaboration to happen and then giving time to bring to fruition. Great call!
A5 also provide Ss with opportunities to experience these new things Talk is good but action is needed
I wonder how many of us have said at one point that we would love to start our own school and do it differently?
A5: maybe if we all use the word "creativity" in everything we do, it will become more popular than "testing" or "outcomes"?!! 😜
Core work was my main argument. Was govt mandated thing for the school. Schl l/ship gave no support.
true, saves you from the weed killer!
A6. Let go of our fears, provide space 4 everybody’s voice 2b heard & begin 2 create & support learning communities
ha that's what I meant, better/strategic allocation of time is needed
I agree and start talking about the purpose of our learning over the focus. A5
. Ss will be creative in spite of their enviro. Often it's the Ts outmoded idea of 'creativity' that hinders
Confession: I googled it 😂😂😂
schools don't kill creativity-but they are severely constrained in encouraging it as we limit education's education to employment
The learners know which ones care and who they can go to for real support.
if the leadership can change the culture of the school, then those teachers will find it hard to 'just do the job'
A6: start with talking 2 Ss about what that looks like, sounds like, feels like for them. Do with rather than do to
Imagine! https://t.co/gOzW7vTIX8
A5: start a school and employ everyone in this chat. Education would look awesome and set the bar high!
Sorry I missed this chat - reading through the tweets has been enthralling....looks like I missed a great one.
A6 sounds like the underpinning area here is developing soft skills in our Ss
I am a big supporter of driving change from the classroom. The difficulty is building coalitions in collaboration.
A6: talking. collectively deciding on destination, & is mode of transp. is most efficient? If we R even headed in that direction.
A6: Put the A in STEM! Don't discount the creative value and potential of arts ed
Awesome, a great summation of impact !
A6: If I had my way, remove much of existing edu restraints and encourage more inquiry based learning.
YES! Agree! Ss curiosity about topics too! They wonder about many things!
Absolutely - kids are super perceptive about authentic relationships
are you interested in hearing from the people you are representing? Or are our voices too small? https://t.co/JHkqkmf2jK
Nice clarification Roderick. Schools do appear to prioritise outcomes over experiences and journeys.
A6: share success but be critical of them so you constantly evolve m, give time to teachers to collaborate and be creative
Q 3 very hard to encourage creativity when so many children have every second of their lives organised by their parents.
They will often connect topics that we/I didn't see!
Teach Ss based on where they are at & what they need not what the curriculum says they should be
I am right there with you my friend!
A6. Ooh sustainability is key - otherwise great ideas will be lost, burnout can happen https://t.co/RJo8e8UXXE
Q6 Light reading first... HMW create a vision for learning that is creative, inclusive & sustainable? https://t.co/s2V5EbHU0Y
The connectivity is a way to take a bit of Creativity 😊
Me too. Need a billionaire who is keen to share some money so we wouldn't need to rely on governments.
true - needs to start with conversation between teachers, invited to visit classrooms etc...
Nice and if they smell a rat of tokenism, they're gone!
A6 Have high expectations for ALL learning communities, honour culture/heritage, know your people first!
Imagine if Ss could design own learning projects w/ Ts choosing how they address standards individually
A6: By simplifying what we are trying to achieve. Any jobs in Norway? Bit cold, though. And lots of Vikings...or so I hear
yep & in time they realise they must change or leave, though that can be messy it's best in long run
A6: Using 5 yr plan model, but being willing to adjust and revisit w/in that time if need B. 5 yrs is a long time to do it wrong.
Not only are they gone… they become protesters through behavior & language
A6: by rewarding the question and process. Not the summation task
We need more teachers like you!
A6
1=✔️
3&4 are in General Capabilities in the Aust Curriculum
2 is a school based goal.
I'm happy!
https://t.co/mIbp5RCEzn
Q6 Light reading first... HMW create a vision for learning that is creative, inclusive & sustainable? https://t.co/s2V5EbHU0Y
A6 Digital Technologies Curriculum addresses much of this_creatively intertwine into all areas_Share, collaborate & be resourceful
A6: I like the idea of meta competencies - learning how to learn are the skills for the future, especially in a VUCA environment
A6 Have a clearly shared moral purpose for education,be unapologetic about it, give time/space for collaborations & seek critique
A6 For starters I'd have state & federal education decisions be made by educators not bureaucrats & politicians
A6: Allow Ts to develop vision from within, rather than have the vision thrust upon us and then being told we're doing it wrong!
A6. we must shift our focus from "academic outcomes" to placing our attention on the "soft skills", the things industry desires
A6 Get into design thinking Or I call it good teaching practice in collective collaboration whole school https://t.co/Z90g0FbPwV
Q6 Light reading first... HMW create a vision for learning that is creative, inclusive & sustainable? https://t.co/s2V5EbHU0Y
Yes and ultimately withdrawal in, outside of the classroom & the learning partnership.
& I'm speaking of strategies. Sometimes we need to adjust the strategy & not give up on the goal.
Great first steps - but how when not all on the same page, book or those in a different library ;-p Big challenge
A6. Trust that teachers know what they and doing and provide support/opportunities to learn as opposed to 'checking' up on them.
A4 and timetables that are set in stone
I agree, visionary leadership is key to leading authentic change, it's messy but necessary
So true! Studying sound past week, S asked about sound environment, did exploration on acoustical engineering Fun!
A6: Ss & Ts both need more opportunities for collaborative exploration/inquiry. Then walk the walk & find ways to provide supports
. no tool opens the doors; people have to open them by willful intention & then use tools to send word
Excellent point! Teaching Ss at their point of need is vital (otherwise what are we really doing?!)
Time is always the issue that most teachers will use. Tell me when I can fit this in!
many organisations/schools don't have agreed upon instructional practice, let alone innovation - small steps.
Gotta fly - big day ahead. Great chat tonight - well done everyone. Now go do something out of the box !!
A5 Schl l/ship set tone for school & if they degrade social capital & collective autonomy there's no room for creativity & innov.
[too big for Q6 of a chat] devote a whole hour chat to that one?
Been looking for an answer I like, as i couldn't articulate my thoughts - I like and agree with yours! https://t.co/fmhDjKuK7q
A6: Ss & Ts both need more opportunities for collaborative exploration/inquiry. Then walk the walk & find ways to provide supports
time and space within the curriculum
