#TnEdChat
A1: Yes! I teach Entertainment Technology. I’m constantly referencing movies, music, video games, pop culture. Digital media is HUGE, and I want our students to know how to create it, not just consume it. #tnedchat
A1 Yes, want to engage kids regularly, use their culture, their references, their lives. Play music, reframe questions using current stars, learn NEW quotes from movies that mean the same as the ones from you era. #tnedchat
A2: When I incorporated High School Musical clips into journalism it reminded them of their "childhoods" Writing accomplished and building relationships. #tnedchat
A2 I think depending on the use, can do either :) If you can connect it to learning, content somehow, make it easier for Ss to relate to and then retain info longer, engage Ss, then better. #tnedchat
My 7th graders started a business this year. It started with a version of "Shark Tank" where they had to convince their peers to vote for their product. The winners became CEOs and our company was born! #tnedchat

A3: When Coco came out, we did a huge unit on Dia De Los Muertos. We made 3D printed sugar skulls, green screen animation movies on Hispanic culture, and made papel Picados. They were so excited to know about the culture and traditions in the movie! #tnedchat
A3: We are currently reviewing advertisements to help grow our business. I will admit that we watched the Morgan Freeman commercial for Mountain Dew for inspiration! Ss created their own infomercials as well. We had to do some research on flex seal for that! #tnedchat
A3: I ran out of characters, but you can use pop culture to teach about different cultures. That’s what I try to expose my students to the most. #tnedchat
A3: create a meme for ....ex King George Ss keep adding to it until it gets back and has totally changed... this is how it works on the internet (NPR) #tnedchat
How is pop culture defined in the 21st century? Everything is so decentralized with multiple media sources. Should we be more concerned with youth culture? #tnedchat

And when I don't know if it's appropriate or not I always can urban dictionary their words! :) Also, common sense media gives good reviews of movies, etc #tnedchat
A4: Twitter and YouTube trends tend to define pop culture these day. But maybe I'm complete wrong about that. 2018 is like Warhol and McCluhan on amphetamines. #tnedchat
