The #educoach hashtag is used by instructional coaches around the world. We chat each Wednesday at 8pm CST on Twitter and use the hashtag throughout the week to share resources, ask questions and collaborate with instructional coaches.

An #Eduwin for me: having Ss participate in an @Flipgrid response to big picture questions to informally assess progress on a unit thus far. A great exercise in #studentvoice for any T or #educoach
Benefits are easy! A well managed classroom flows and provides Ts & Ss with every opportunity for success. It is the one area where ALL teachers can benefit from continuous PD. It’s ever changing and necessary to adjust day2day, year2year. #educoach
Hello! Carrie here from Indiana! My #eduwin was a great IC team meeting today. Spent time thinking about how to reflect on & celebrate our 1st round of coaching cycles. #educoach
A1: Benefits are easy! A well managed classroom flows and provides Ts & Ss with every opportunity for success. It is the one area where ALL teachers can benefit from continuous PD. It’s ever changing and necessary to adjust day2day, year2year. #educoach
Q2: Must be judgement free (at first)!! Offering suggestions using research based strats - ask struggling Ts to help with instructional rounds - obs Ts with top notch management and organization. Help with an implementation guide for school/district policies. #educoach
Q3: analysis of class activities and plans. Looking at teacher designed activities and lesson plans with a management anticipation guide has been helpful in the past. Knowing what could go wrong before can help prevent issues before they happen #ounceofprevention#educoach
How ironic! I was just helping a teacher develop a walking map today to help with behavior issues that have developed within the past 2 weeks. She was excited to try it out! Can’t wait to follow up with suggestions for improvement #educoach
I have a side by side for that I use to compare lessons and plans and analyze potential problems. Nothing too fancy. Maybe we should draft a more formal one together ? #EduCoach
It is a simple method of having a T map their paths during a class period and see their most frequent areas used in the classroom. I tend to ask Ts to place post-it’s in locations first thing in the morning and tally/ write where they came from during the day to help #educoach
A5: they need to be measurable. Simple things like fewer hall passes and equity voice activities. Goals should be SMART, but once they are met, it’s time for a new set! #educoach
A6-Classroom management and teaching go together. As we think about academic work, we can support the management by thinking about management strategies within that content area #educoach
I know it helped me. So many Ts get trapped In Front of a smart board or projector that they fail to see the obvious lack of grass on the pat to and from their desk (forbid it is AT their desk). I’ve had some fellow Ts have good luck with better behavior and efficacy #educoach
A6: How do you have one w/o the other? It’s hard to measure academics when you see management flaws, and hard to see management flaws when you measure just academics. This is where a coach has to be a visible part of the team to ensure authentic measurement of both #educoach
A7: As a perpetual student, sharing management research and readings has provided me with many opportunities to help implement new strategies with fellow Ts. Offering a co-teach opportunity the class so Ts can evaluate Ss and test new management techniques w/o fear #educoach
That is excellent advice. Hard to focus on the lesson when obsession on hair flip or how out outfit looked on camera is the overpowering issue! #educoach
A9: Remember that you are a resource, not a remedy. Be a part of the classroom so that you can cycle fluidly in and out w/o change is Ss behavior. Allowing Ts to vent 1on1 can facilitate important conversations for improvement and change! #educoach
