#BmoreEdchat Hi everyone! Kristen, literacy support in south Baltimore. ๐๐ are my emojis because I love my schools and the power of collaborating within and across them
Hi everyone, I'm Samantha a 1st grade intern in Baltimore County. My emoji for teacher collaboration represents all of times we think of new ideas to enhance instruction #BmoreEdchat
Matt, here. Iโm an English Dept Chair in Baltimore County. While Iโve seen the power of collaboration, the most common reaction Iโve seen lately is Stanley. #BmoreEdchat
Howdy #BmoreEdchat! My name is Danna and I am the founder of Happy Teacher Revolution. This emoji represents how my fellow special-ed inclusion pre-K teacher on my team and I collaborate together and are supportive of each other: ๐ฏโโ๏ธ
I collaborate every day with my mentor teacher but occasionally with other 2nd grade teachers, special ed teachers and reading specialist on lesson plans. #ed446#BmoreEdchat
A1. Mostly one of my coworkers or with my department. And anyone in a chat that I participate in. Would like the chance to do more with other staff in my building. Working on a pineapple chart for next year. #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A1: I collaborate with colleagues who are doing similar work: ideas for teacher support, strengthening PD, and all things literacy: curriculum, assessment and instruction
A1) As an intern, I regularly collaborate with my mentor teacher and the rest of the 3rd grade team. I also collaborate with the special educator and the TA. #bmoreedchat#ed446
A1: I work very closely with the other 2nd grade teacher next door to me, and can go to teachers on my team for planning, but I would love to be able to work with more teachers in the building and district! #bmoreedchat
A1: I collaborate with my students as well. They help design things and push my thinking. Having them teach and give feedback has completely flipped our classroom. #BmoreEdchat
A1: Grade level teams meet weekly. Whole departments can collaborate bi-weekly. I collaborate most with my office mate, @WL_Bluebird, the World Languages Chair. #BmoreEdchat
I collaborate with teachers who work with ELLs I serve. Also, school counselors in middle school when the students need help navigating high school application process. #BmoreEdchat
A1: Tonya. She is the amazingly positive parking lot attendant. She is the first person I see everyday. We share books and support each other for the past 6 years. #BmoreEdchat
Canโt forget about them. Trying the teaching flip, mixed with an actual flip right now. One of my least engaged classes has become the most engaged. #BmoreEdchat
A1: Collaborate w/ @sarahpedrotti on a daily basis....also highly depend on input from various stakeholders when it comes to behavior interventions #BmoreEdchat

A1: I collaborate with my students as well. They help design things and push my thinking. Having them teach and give feedback has completely flipped our classroom. #BmoreEdchat
A1:Everyday I try & take time to run ideas by other core teachers & specialists on my team. Sometimes you have an idea kicking around but need someoneโs particular feedback to make it happen #BmoreEdchat
A2. The coworker and I usually deal with #PBL things or #sbl rubrics. Team is more about coordinating content and resources. Still trying to get everyone on board with these ideas. #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A2 my favorite topic and way to collaborate is by looking at student work. I like additional eyes on their work with ideas about what students are grasping and what they need more practice with. And ideas/strategies for next steps!
#BmoreEdchat A2: As a specials teacher, I try to get a handle on what the general classroom teachers are doing so I can enhance their lessons with #STEM activities. I am also working with our computer teacher for different projects.
A2 The #WholeChild drives the collaboration for me because if implemented w/intention & purpose it unites all sectors of the school & community because we all have a part to play #BmoreEdchat
A2 I am hoping that our students have opportunities to learn with and from each other and have our EL students engage in rich conversations in their L2 with native speakers, #bmoreedchat
In this attempt the Ss picked their assessment method. Have Ss coding games, making movies, digital storybooks, board games...all of which they must publish on the internet in some way. They just asked for a day to see everyoneโs products. @Flipgrid works, too #BmoreEdchat

@bmoreedchat A2: Recently Iโve been collaborating with teachers around the U.S. about how to incorporate self-care and wellness strategies within the workday to help educators prioritize their own health as a best practice for the students in their classrooms! #bmoreedchat
Just think about where you fit into this framework, how many of you fit into multiple components of the whole school whole community whole child framework? #BmoreEdchat
A2 The topics are usually based on sharing experiences of teaching students we work with, how ESOL instruction can support ELLs in mainstream classes, and sharing strategies and resources. Also, case studies when a student may require extra support. #BmoreEdchat
Definitely something which needs to be addressed as mindfulness and overall wellness can have massive impacts on the stories of our students. #BmoreEdchat
@bmoreedchat A2: Recently Iโve been collaborating with teachers around the U.S. about how to incorporate self-care and wellness strategies within the workday to help educators prioritize their own health as a best practice for the students in their classrooms! #bmoreedchat
A2: Our collaboration is also away to push each other to be the best leader we can with our own personalities and strengths shining through ---- and karaoke #bmoreedchat
A2: Today our ILT focused on social and emotional learning and looked at best practices for morning rituals, engaging pedagogy, and optimistic closure and discussed how to systematize for daily practice #SEL#BmoreEdchat
Usually, I plan time to collaborate with colleagues whose schedule are different then mine. We will plan to meet before school or after school in a mural location. #Ed446#BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A3: I teach at our elementary and middle school, so scheduled are crazy! Google docs, sheets, slides, etc. REALLY help a lot!! I use Google Sheets to plan out football and tennis practice with other coaches. We use Google Classroom to keep athletes informed.
A1 I collaborate with bus drivers, the superintendent, his cabinet, principals, teachers, paras, maintenance and custodial heroes, cafeteria stars, parents, taxpayers, and my family. And the state education agency. And I want @BetsyDeVosED to collaborate with us. #BmoreEdchat
A3 consistency is key, & can be challenging so we are utilizing different tech tools depending on the way they prefer to collaborate @voxer@SlackHQ & @GoogleForEdu are just a few we have implemented w/in last few years #BmoreEdchat
In reply to
@bmoreedchat, @voxer, @SlackHQ, @GoogleForEdu
#BmoreEdchat A3: This is always tricky, and sometimes takes a lot of advance planning and flexibility. But I find that phone calls, webinars and doodle surveys for common free time to be helpful tools in finding the space to collaborate even with different schedules
A3: Scheduling time to collaborate requires intentionality. Mornings can be ideal times to collaboratively reflect on consolations. #startstrong#BmoreEdchat
A3: When we can.... we find time and often at events we all attend. Or just today called @leobrehm to ask a question and yesterday DM @mrhooker for feedback on a project. Collaboration does not always have to be immediate feedback #bmoreedchat
I find myself constantly looking for opportunities to collaborate with my mentor teacher, reading specialists and my schoolโs guidance counselor #BmoreEdchat#ED446
A3 sometimes it is during a planned meeting after school, sometimes it while passing each other in the hall! Having a shared google doc where we can put our ideas has been a huge help, too! #bmoreedchat
#BmoreEdchat A2: As a specials teacher, I try to get a handle on what the general classroom teachers are doing so I can enhance their lessons with #STEM activities. I am also working with our computer teacher for different projects.

A3: I utilize technology! Instagram, Facebook, a quick text message, or even grabbing a chai latte after-school or on the weekends to chat and collaborate! @bmoreedchat#bmoreedchat
A3: As an intern itโs difficult to collaborate with people who have different planning times, but collaborating with other student teachers or first-year teachers is always beneficial! ๐ฉ๐ผโ๐ซ ๐ฉ๐ฝโ๐ซ๐ฉ๐พโ๐ซ#BmoreEdchat
A3. I try to collaborate with colleagues and resource personnel before school if I can! Also, I am lucky enough to have my mentor teacher who can take over if i see the person walking by and can quickly speak to themโwhich is often in an open space setting! #BmoreEdchat#ed446
A3 I work with students in elementary and middle school, so it is tricky to see everybody in person. Email works. Google docs or Office docs with access. A lot of conversations happen on the go. #BmoreEdchat
A2.
We are doing a big weather global collaboration- kids are using numbers app numbers & collecting, charting and analyzing data of temps collected they twitter or @Flipgrid - We are also being meteorologists and reporting weather on twitter;) #BmoreEdchat
A4: I would love to collaborate more with our music & art teachers to construct cross curricular projects to extend content & create memories. Additionally, collaborating with other classes in different grade levels. #BmoreEdchat
A4 if given the opportunity I would love to have more collaborative opportunities that bring together different departments centrally so we can streamline collaboration & communication to support campuses, families, & the community (we are working on this now ๐) #BmoreEdchat
A4. Other departments. See what they are doing. It would be better to get to observe things. We have started an @Flipgrid PD grid but it is not really being utilized. #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A4: @AndersonEdTech ...he's one of the smartest guys I know. I always enjoy speaking with @SmithStem. I would also like to get my #STEM class to collaborate more with community STEM leaders
A3: I utilize technology! Instagram, Facebook, a quick text message, or even grabbing a chai latte after-school or on the weekends to chat and collaborate! @bmoreedchat#bmoreedchat
#BmoreEdchat A3 also i work with an amazing school leader who revamped schedules for a day so that we could look at stu work across grades. Seeing a grade below and above was so valuable. Strong leaders are usually open to finding ways to make structure for collaboration possible
A4: Iโd love the opportunity to collaborate with other APs to find what works for them when it comes to discipline and restorative justice. #BmoreEdchat
A4 I would love to collaborate with our specialist teachers more often! They could provide some great input on the Arts part of STEAM. I think time to work with other teachers in the district would be amazing, too! #bmoreedchat
A4: I wish I had more time to work with our Library Media Specialist, @bluebirdlibrary. She is a wealth of knowledge about tech and literacy. #BmoreEdchat
Q4: Someone from this chat.... #challenge. DM me + we can collaborate somehow and talk leadership and supporting Ts and Ss. I never met @STEAMuptheClsrm , she reached out, and month later we did a podcast together. Was a blast and I learned a ton about STEAM #bmoreedchat
A4: I would love the opportunity to collaborate with other educators who incorporate mental health and wellness into their classroom routines, procedures, and course content. Whether itโs meditating, brain breaks, or strategies to build human connection @bmoreedchat#bmoreedchat
A4 If I could have spent more time with my own children when they were little...
Donโt miss out on your own life because you are doing something else thatโs important. You have only one you. #BmoreEdchat
A4: Since 5th grade is departmentalized at our school, I would like the opportunity to collaborate more often with the ELA teacher to learn about what my students are doing during the rest of their day & come up with ways to tie content areas together #BmoreEdchat

#BmoreEdchat A5: Time. How do you make time? Other than that I think that being a #Google school helps so much! Having web based collaboration tools allows the "time" to be at different times. Some are before school, some at lunch, some while at home.
A5: Trust and listening skills...collaboration is more than just sitting around a table together...being able to trust that someone will listen and help you or ask for help is a huge step #BmoreEdchat
A4. I would like to collaborate with 1st grade and 3rd grade;). See what I can do better when my kids come to me and what I can do better for them before they leave me:( I teach 2nd #cheerleader#BmoreEdchat
A5: Trust, moral courage, growth mindset, willingness to work before and after the bell and supportive admin that creates the structures during the day. #BMoreEdChat
A5 routine, scheduling & consistency are important to foster early on, this way it becomes a habit. Start off small, & learn the way others like to collaborate whether itโs face to face, virtual, etc. #BmoreEdchat
Everyday I collaborate closely with my mentor teacher to lesson plan. We also collaborate with the rest of the 4th grade team along with our studentsโ special ed teachers! #BmoreEdchat#ED446
Q5: Collaboration depends on communication - not just top-down or occurs in a weekly meeting format. Every member should be able to communicate with equality and authorityโit promotes openness & ownership. #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdchat A5 A commitment to students and a growth mindset. Without these two tenets, it's difficult to find creative solutions and be open to new methods
A5 Participants should be motivated to collaborate and get actionable steps as a result. It should be flexible and address real needs of the collaboration partners. #BmoreEdchat
A4: If I could collaborate more I would increase my time in the community with agencies who might partner with us on our transformational journey. #BmoreEdchat

#BmoreEdchat. We combine recess with our special areas which allows classroom teachers to have 40 minutes of collaborative planning and 40 minutes of personal prep daily! @fallhamiltoneos
A4: I would like to see more collaboration between studentsโ general ed and special ed teachers. A lot of updating goes on between teachers, but I wish there was more collaboration to support what each teacher is doing to support the student. #BmoreEdchat#ED446
You'll hear from me...I would love to collaborate with you on all of those topics. Educator and Student WellBeing & Joy is my passion-I know it cultivates #JoyfulSchools#bmoreedchat#VBHasJoy๐ป
A5: deconstruction of the current system that divides us in unecessay ways; Grade levels, departments, high stakes exams, tracking, countless other bureaucratic nonsense that has nothing to do with learning. #BmoreEdchat
More time provided to teachers to work and plan with each other. I would also like to see a chance for us learn from each other (I am extremely interested in these pineapple charts I keep hearing about!) ๐ #bmoreedchat
A5: I think to have the most effective communication among any professionals, the meetings need to have clear objectives, questions, mutual respect and a common purpose/goal (helping the student). #BmoreEdchat#ed446
A6: Some structures which could be applied to various school environments are FedExDay, EdCamps, and the Pineapple Chart collaboration model. #BmoreEdchat
A5 Common planning time built into the schedule is key. Plus planning digitally on shared documents like google doc or common curriculum, and frequent communication via email, text, phone #BmoreEdchat
#BmoreEdChat A5: #Google. Google docs, sheets, slides, and google classroom are great! I also like to chat using Google Hangouts.
BUT!!!!!!!! Nothing...absolutely NOTHING can beat having a friend over for a BBQ!

A4 I would love if my schedule would allow for me to sit in on collaborative planning meetings with grade level teams and content teams. Next year I will create this time in my schedule and hear how teams are planning from standards to increase student achievement #BmoreEdchat
A6: teachers need admin to help them simplify their focus on what is most important and permission to block out the nonsense. Sort of eliminate the clutter, so teams can be effective at what students need most. #BmoreEdchat
A6: Ts look to the principal as their leader, so he/se must behave like one. Set an example, & show them that you are a leader as well as a member of the team. Donโt be afraid to take on the little jobs that you might want to assign to others. #BmoreEdchat
A6 Especially for new teachers - knowing support staff responsibilities, when to go to a social worker, when to reach out to a psychologist or SLP, or ESOL teacher. #BmoreEdchat
A6. google docs would be a great way to improve efficiency for collaborating bc then everyone can edit the document at the same time and share their ideas and opinions! I know Iโve used it a lot for group projects in college and would love to use it for planning #BmoreEdchat
#Bmoreedchat A6.1: I have been using my @getRocketbook lately...but really only for me. I have sent some notes to friends from church and other teacher friends. Does anyone use a #rocketbook to help collaborate?
A7: teachers taking more risks, students more engaged, improved teacher and student attendance, improved academic outcomes...the impact can be broad! #BMoreEdChat
A7: When teachers are empowered to continue their collaboration and learning. Ideas are brought into the building instead of deposited top down. Smiles and fun are present. Teachers and all adults become lead learners. #BmoreEdchat
A HUGE thank you to @Leanne728 for moderating #BmoreEdchat tonight! Continue collaborating this week & post what happens using our hashtag! Looking forward to learning with all of you!
