Thank you for visiting #ksedchat. We welcome all educators to our chat that runs Mondays at 8 p.m. Central. Though many of our educators have their homes in Kansas, all teachers are welcome to pop in and join in on the learning.
I didn’t have a favorite meme but when I googled. This just said me! I am a math T at Northwest Classen High School in Oklahoma City. Just started spring break and on it for 2 WEEKS. #ksedchat
Hey everyone! I’m a preservice educator from KC and I’m studying to be an ELL or Spanish teacher! Looking forward to learning more about ed through Twitter! #ksedchat#EIPT3043
It is just missing some kids underneath her feet. I swear I almost trampled some of my kids trying to get them out of the building so that I can run out next :). #ksedchat
Q1: Ts tend to carry EVERYTHING with them in their work bags. But who has the time to clean out and organize during the school week?! Share the strangest thing currently in your work bag that found its way there yet has nothing to do with teaching. #ksedchat
A1: LEGOS! LEGOS everywhere! 5 of my 6 children are boys. It seems they are constantly sticking LEGOS in my bag, purse, desk, coat pockets, you name it. I could build the NYC skyline by now with all the random, spare pieces. #ksedchat

A1: I found a play coin that I took from one of my students, because it was a distraction, in my jeans pocket. I had put it there and totally forgot about it. My backpack stays pretty school oriented...for now! #ksedchat
A1: Okay, I probably won’t find this until I retire. I don’t ever look in my bag deeply. I have found some interesting crumbs from time to time LOL #ksedchat

A1 I don’t have anything too strange in my bag right now, but I do have an embarrassingly enormous amount of pens, and I’m pretty sure 90% of them don’t work. One is even broken in half. 🙈😅 #ksedchat
A1: nothing?! I would say plastic baggies but I use them all the time in my classroom. 🤷🏼♀️ Next year I’m sure it will be some kind of toy when my to-be kinder joins me before & after school. #ksedchat
Love it! I love pens way too much and carry a little bag of pens in my bag. More than I would ever need. Could be why my bag weighs so much. 😬 #ksedchat

A1: I have my 3 year olds favorite stuffed animal- that she left in my classroom... and has been sitting in my teacher bag for a week now 😂 (she will be so happy to see it tonight!) #ksedchat
I did have blank note cards to write to my Ss during the year instead of just at the end. Didn’t happen so I took them out :) They were so bent up. #ksedchat
A1: To me, school is my other house and family. I need everything that I have at home there. So, extra socks, measuring cups, makeup....
#IHmarchmadness#ksedchat
Please tell me I am reading this thread wrong. I noticed something that is not quite fair. All female Ts with kids are talking about their kids stuff being in their bag but male Ts are not. What is up with that? #ksedchat
Q2: Teachers absolutely need to relax and regroup over Spring Break, but it is tough for us to not be productive every day, and home stuff often gets neglected. Share two things you want to knock off your HOME to-do list so you feel productive enough to relax. #ksedchat
I gotta get ready to board a plane back to Oklahoma City from Los Angeles. It was so great to chat with you guys even if it was short. Have a great spring break everyone. #ksedchat

I had to take a picture because admitting you have a problem is good for the soul, or something like that, right? I even included the broken pen with the spring. 😂 #ksedchat
A2: I have planned for my best friend and I to get massages one day over break. We are both in school, and nothing is worse then stress and a heavy backpack. So a girl's day is definitely a must. But even just a roadtrip would be great! #ksedchat
A2. I want to organize my bedroom, as it currently has stacks of stuff e everywhere. I am also excited to go to the statehouse with my daughter Wednesday! #ksedchat
A2.2: I also want to take some runs outside with my dog. Even though the two times we went last week I had to take him to the vet.... yup, both times. #ksedchat
A2: I just want to relax and enjoy being with my friends and family. Just being able to focus on them ONLY will be a nice change for a bit.
#ksedchat#IHMarchMadness
A2: I want to paint my oldest son's room (been saying we were going to do that for over a year now), and I want to rent a dumpster and just throw things out. Feels good to declutter. #ksedchat
Q2: My 14 month old is sick so it's putting a lot of stuff in perspective this break. I'm supposed to head to #NSTA2018 Thursday and be working on my #NBCTstrong certification. YIKES! Wish me luck!!! #ksedchat
A2: Project 1: Discovered recently that there is a literal hole in our house that has apparently allowed a possum friend to crawl into our basement. I would, uh, like to fix the hole.
Project 2: See project 1.
#ksedchat
A2: #1) Unearthing my desk at home (how does it always manage to get buried so quickly with unopened mail and kids’ papers?!) and #2) acquiring a new bookshelf to deal with my many random stacks of books.
#ksedchat
A2. I have to fold and put laundry away...almost done! I also plan to take my girls to the zoo, if the weather is nice, later in the week. If not, we will have some sort of mommy/daughter date. #KSEdChat
I would like to organize our game closet and the area by our stairway to the basement. It is currently a storing place for things no one wants to do anything with 🤦🏽♀️ #ksedchat
A2 Clean off our kitchen table... we still have Christmas cookies on it somewhere in the mess of everything else. (Judge me, it’s fine 😂). And I would love to get caught up on laundry! #ksedchat
A2: organize the downstairs bedroom. There are boxes in there from when we moved 6 years ago! Also catch up on laundry...if that's even possible. #ksedchat
A2: just doing two things would leave me with 999,998 things left on my list. Sprucing up the flower beds and putting in a tile backsplash in the kitchen would be a few nice accomplishments. #nothappeningtho#ksedchat
Q3: Most Ts are life-long learners by nature, but quite often the only things we have time to read during the school year are education-related (or the papers we are grading). What book(s) can you not wait to read over Spring Break just for the enjoyment of reading? #ksedchat
A3: It's still T related but I just started #kidsdeserveit and I want to start The Innovator's Mindset by @gcouros because I am going to a PD of his in April! #ksedchat
A3: finish Reading Reconsidered, hopefully finish Small Great Things, read Greetings from Witness Protection, The Lost Tribes... too many more to name, but that’s my “reasonably achievable” list! #ksedchat
A3) I am not to that point in my career yet. I am spending Spring Break finishing up my Grad. Portfolio and catching up on my Grad class after I finish IEP progress reports. #ksedchat#nextyear
A3: My professional read is “Help for Billy” and my for fun reads are finishing up “Refugee” and finally reading “Harry Potter” @ccouchman - you’d better appreciate that. Finally giving in to the pressure. #KSedchat
A3 I just finished reading The Book Thief last night. #allthefeels And I recently bought a book based on a true story of an Auschwitz prisoner called The Librarian of Auschwitz. I can’t wait to jump into this one! #ksedchat
A3-No idea. Love some recommendations. When I read solely for pleasure I can’t get anything else done until I finish the book. Also, I really really love education books. #ksedchat

A3: Most of the books in my pile are professional, but I still read them for enjoyment. Right now I have The High Trust Classroom, Teaching to Strengths, and Fostering Resilient Learners on the top of my pile. I also review books for a company and have one to read. #KSEdChat
A3 I'm almost done with a biography on Ulysses S Grant, but after that I have a couple books from the Kingkiller Chronicles I really want to read #ksedchat
A3: I might dive into "Caramel Crush" a cupcake themed cozy by @JennMcKinlay --- it's guaranteed to be light and sweet, but would also make me crave cupcakes and this week is all about the pi #ksedchat
Q4: Who doesn't love a field trip?! Where is one place you would like to
take your family, friend(s), or just enjoy by yourself for the day during Spring Break? #ksedchat
Okay, I’m just going to go ahead and be that person who admits that Question 3 was literally the worst question to ask us. Now I have so many MORE books on my to-read list! Guess my summer plans are BOOKED now... get it? #ksedchat
Q4: Who doesn't love a field trip?! Where is one place you would like to
take your family, friend(s), or just enjoy by yourself for the day during Spring Break? #ksedchat
A4: We will be going to the discovery center in Manhattan and a day trip to KC for the aquarium and other fun things! Can’t wait for some time with my daughter and family. #ksedchat
A4: I would love to go to the Tulsa Aquarium. I heard it is great and I love to look at fish. So calming. Anywhere else we should hit when in Tulsa? #ksedchat
A4 My kids like going to Coronado Heights. I'd like to take them some day when the wind is not gusting at 60 mph. We're also looking at making a short trip to Shawnee #ksedchat
A4: I think we are going to go to Tey and go to Legoland. I know my oldest will love it. The little one is too little to know the difference. #ksedchat
A4 I will be going back to the school I student taught at 2 years ago. They don’t have spring break this week. My 6th graders I student taught are now 8th graders and I can’t WAIT to see them! #ksedchat
A4: I would love to go to the Treehouse Cottages in Eureka Springs... but I will settle for a week in KC and as much time in Barnes and Noble as possible. #ksedchat
A4: My little people and I are headed to the Sedgwick County Zoo. A very fantastic friend gave us a family membership for Christmas, and it is time to go claim it. And a trip to Bluebird Books and Cafe with the boys for a leisurely lunch and book shopping is in order. #ksedchat
A4: I want to be out helping my family in the field however I can. Sometimes in the school year I feel some guilt for not helping enough. Outside is my happy place too! #ksedchat
I love this chat! Had no idea Tulsa has an aquariumsnd Eureka Springs has treehouse cottages. My family thinks we’re going to Branson. Would they notice a detour? #ksedchat
A4: We are going on our big trip to the beach this summer, so for now we will just stay close and go to the zoo and hopefully enjoy some nice weather here in KC. #KSEdChat

Q5: It's good for our soul to break the weekday routine. Share something you would like to do during Spring Break that you do not ordinarily get to do during the school year. Absolutely nothing? Leisurely lunch? Skydiving? What does your teacher soul crave? #ksedchat
A5: My out of the ordinary this year will be working on my #KTOY19 application in my sweats with my coffee. We will also be spending several days in Rochester, MN, apartment hunting with my daughter. #ksedchat
A5: Looking forward to running in the morning with the sun already up. It's a lot warmer, I have energy and I don't have to worry about skunks. #ksedchat

A4: I want to take my kids to Coronado Heights. @ccouchman - want to be a tour guide? Lol. I pay with peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. And then we will probably end up at the lake so my oldest can go fishing. #ksedchat
A5: Sleeping in (although I need to get my girls on board with this one), eating lunch everyday, spending time with my girls, going on walks, and reading #KSEdChat
A5: I would love to have consistent exercise in the school year. I've focused a lot on healthier eating and feel great. Would love to be able to get exercise in. #ksedchat
A5 I also would like to eat lunch at a “normal” time. Our lunch at school is at 10:50. It has ruined me. I ate pizza for breakfast today and thought nothing of it. 🤷🏼♀️😅 #ksedchat
