#aussieED Archive
#aussieED was founded on the belief that all teachers, and students, should have unlimited access to Professional Development, on their own terms, to improve their teaching, their schools and change the lives of the students they encounter. Since then, we have embarked on a mission to reach educators, not only in Australia but, all around the globe. We want to smash the barriers that prevent teachers from easily connecting and learning with each other. To that end, we have developed a regular Ed-chat each Sunday on twitter at #aussieED. The chat allows all teachers, leaders, administrators and all those connected with education to meet on an unbiased platform and discuss the real issues that effect what happens in classrooms everywhere. Our chats are authentic because we are real teachers walking the same walk that so many do everyday.

Sorting my sch final preparations before the tomorrow. I'm not going to make tonight
Welcome to tonight's chat - please introduce yourself & let us know if you play Pokemon Go - if so, what level are you on?!!
Hi. I'm Alison. Legal Studies and English Teacher Yrs 10-12. New to Twitter. Never played Pokemon!
Sunshine Coast No! No level!
Hi all. again on time for tonight's chat :D I'm on negative level for Pokemon as have never played it. ;)
Anne-Marie from Brisbane 🙂
I've tried with my hubby, but he isn't keen! He does enjoy geocaching though :)
Oh yeah, and I am a fan of Pokemon Go!
A1 Michael science teacher from China was on level 13 till I moved
I'm Kelly from Sydney. I teach HS Science and just levelled up to Level 12 today on our Pokemon Go hunt!
Hi all, Stuart from Auckland, New Zealand.
I dowloaded Pokemon Go, found a creature in my lounge room, had a gremlins flashback and logged off. https://t.co/G9l7mfA1nb
Hey from Cairns where we hosted the awesome and at yesterday!
Hi all, Cameron from Melbourne
Bernadette from Melbourne - never played PokermanGo but my students are all into it
Tonight's Qs will come from this account - so keep an eye on me for the Qs both as text & images! Don't forget the # & A1, A2, etc
I've seen it twice in action, but not on the level!
Q1. Building rapport is important for engaging classrooms. HMW use Pokemon Go as an opportunity to build rapport with students?
I'm Daniel from 's Sydney chapter. I'm on Level 10.
I was level 6 on until it killed my phone. Was replaced with a Samsung S3 which is not compatible!
Dan here, checking in from the home of Pokemon.
I'm afraid that tonight's is a bridge too far for me, see you all next week ;)
A1. I know first day back this term the conversations amongst Ss revolved around which level you were on/which team you joined!!
new to game - level 9. Middle Years Leader / TL Going to Japan on school study trip next term break
One device between two to build collaboration. A1 Can also share adventure stories.
A1 discussing where the gyms are and what in their pokedeck
A1. Does the risk of injury due to, away the tech? Is there safer tech teaching the same skill/knowledge?
Andrew from Cairns here. Level 0 on Go. Lurking a little tonight as I do my ironing
Hi Jackie in Brisbane... yes, started playing, lost login and dropped back to level 5 😟
A1 My kids laugh at me for not playing Pokemon, knowing how to drive nor following footy so we have a laugh! Instant rapport.
I love Pokemon chat with students! Especially on bus duty. They love the 'Pokemon killed my phone' story https://t.co/fDwqhtVdFr
Q1. Building rapport is important for engaging classrooms. HMW use Pokemon Go as an opportunity to build rapport with students?
A1. Read Pokémon Go's Wikipedia article. You never have to play it, but understanding what it is can help build build rapport.
A1. I had this experience the other day, saw a st reading Pokemon book & told him I've started Pokemon Go. Connection!
that's awesome :) all the opposite things you mentioned helped me to build rapport with boys!
Hi all! Andrea from TN. My son has it on my phone. He caught one on my leg yesterday & was excited. He is just starting...lvl 2
A1. Instant rapport is to show genuine interest in what the Ss enjoy. Pokemon Go is 1 of the many interests. Value what they love
I was schooled on it last week for 30mins by a very knowledgeable 13yo! A1
I always tell them about my favourite bits of the gameboy game. And that I was chuffed when I caught a Jigglypuff!
A1 being able to chat informally with Ss about their interests is a pivotal part of building r'ships - PGo is a topic of convo
great story :) we will be heading down this track with a future q
A1 joining 1000 students as they chase down a Pokemon on the school field
A1. I don't "dab", I don't "pokemon go" & I don't "keep up with the Kardashians". student teachers rapport still solid.
. And that 13yo now feels like they taught you something. +100 Affinity XP
.Hi Leonie Hastings NZ. Play Pokemon Go to see what its all about but a novice.Only time on weekends.Have 30.No idea bt lots of it
If it's something that Ss enjoy, I will usually give it a go to try to 'get on their level'... no harm in trying these things!
Absolutely, she was a great storyteller and I was completely entertained; learning all around!
A1 perhaps just ask what it is about and why they find it engaging You might learn what helps them "tick"
A1 Playing the game will open up a door to give you something to have in common with your students and help build relationships.
A1. I do not game at all! I know! However don't have any issue relating to & engaging my students in great work at homework class
Don't doubt that - but it definitely adds something to a teacher's toolkit to help build rapport!
A1 - good teachers are creative in ways they educate ss - PGo is a good opp to be creative and build relationships.
Q1 conversations ongoing since Term started re where Pokestops are near school. Ss also love it when Ts need help!
A1 I play whenever we're on a bus. It's great having 50 odd experts 'helping you' along the way. Hence the Level 0
. True. But this approach led to an unfortunately period in my life where I said far too much.
I also found connection with our graduate teacher who loves Pokemon Go. Gives us something other than school to chat about.
A1 - Haven't got into Pokemon Go, my student rapport is solid and one of the most important things to have at school
Hi, my name is Sam from Sydney and I am addicted to
haha yes... I draw the line at 'bae', 'swag'... and this god awful 'dab' dance!!
hi Sam :) thanks for joining! Was great meeting & learning from you today!!
Nice Coby and to build learning conversations where the students can be the teachers often. A1
. It says far too much, that I assumed this student was male. So there you go, she schooled us both.
A1 Have found the game really provides Ss who do not usually participate verbally aretalking, sharing and discussing
is there such thing as too much swag?
Q2 is coming up soon :) we'll get into how we can use Pokemon Go and the elements behind it in the classroom :)
Nice and of course exercising! A1
We're pretty popular with teachers back in Ireland. So we hope teachers in VIC find us useful 💁 https://t.co/8kbk41taHA
A1 Hey it's something good that kids (people) are excited about. Jump on the band wagon and encourage more physical activity
. A1Tch 5/6 yr olds-a bit hard for them. But concept is grt. Ss Low decile so no ICT except mums phone at home. Start wth QR codes?
. I was about to ask what that was, then I decided better of it. Then I googled it anyway... SIGH.
I agree Malak, the end justifies the means! A1
Q2. One of the engaging elements of Pokemon Go is the thrill of the hunt! How can we embed this thrill into our lessons?
Agreed...they love showing you things they think you know nothing about.
A2 thrill of the hunt? Try a scavenger hunt with QR codes?
Vianney here, late to the convo. Love Pokémon but haven't been Pokémon hunting, have been known to 'deal' Pokémon cards on duty
1 Kids love having chats with me. I see a different side to them. The quiet one talks my ear off & the loud one wants to listen.
A2 Easy, give students more agency over their learning journey/adventure.
Good morning/evening friends! Todd from NY joining in late-sorry for being tardy!😊
Out of interest - did any of you like Pokemon before this new app? I loved it growing up!
Sorry - too much to do, too little time. Nearly there though. Pokémon is good but anyone want some Shopkins?
You can set up an information scavenger hunt around the school using QR codes, maybe do something with a map?
QR codes are a great way to incorporate the ideas of Pokemon Go into classes... create a scavenger hunt!
A2. Barcode the books in the library and get them to search for 20 different texts! Lol! Isn't that a library? 😂
Also making adults talk randomly and encouraging social interactions...
A2. I've seen Prep classes do a word hunt using enviro text and yr 3 having a 2D shape hunt using iPads
. This is great. Heaven forbid we talk to each other as humans with diverse interests.
A2 massive opportunity here! Map reading, navigating, directional language. Even narrating a journey!
A2 gamify with leveling up and levels of learning
I have tried twice... and failed miserably!! Perhaps I can get my Ss to share their tips/hints on battles!
A2 - Awesome question, providing opportunities for our Ss to have the autonomy to experience their own creativity in their learning
A2 Differentiating maths lessons with students using playing cards, where students 'level up' when ready!
Loved Pokémon. Saw a meme today asking why there wasn't just a game where you could just hunt Pokémon on your phone.
2 Can be embedded into any KLA, as long as it is meaningful. In maths, they hunted for their own Pokemon & they all were engaged
a2 creating your own treasure hunts using something like Klikaklu makes for really engaging lessons
A2: Used Indiana Jones clip and then got children to find Roman Numerals hidden around school, like Indy https://t.co/A5dFil8Jbv
A2: Used Indiana Jones clip and then got children to find Roman Numerals hidden around school, like Indy https://t.co/2NspV4KsR8
shout out to you & ur recent QR codes in art exercise! https://t.co/WedXIceL8z
QR codes are a great way to incorporate the ideas of Pokemon Go into classes... create a scavenger hunt!
Surely there are better software options than this? G maps? https://t.co/JtgIqw7eoN
A2 massive opportunity here! Map reading, navigating, directional language. Even narrating a journey!
A2 A basic concept of scavenger hunt of a learning journey - can be easily done with QR codes and or
Love the Indiana Jones idea.
A2: by making our lessons discovery based, and where Ss need to solve problems alone/together to get to what's next.
A2 I like thinking that learning to communicate effectively in another language is the "thrill". Some get it, some don't (yet)
Build discovery into every lesson. Chasing and catching knowledge rather than Pokemon with pokeballs! https://t.co/uOpiAPoHzt
Q2. One of the engaging elements of Pokemon Go is the thrill of the hunt! How can we embed this thrill into our lessons?
I like that it's an easy and non-threatening starting point for conversation: it can springboard other topics
. Exactly. That's all Pokémon Go really is. Then you simply construct a catalyst around it. 1/2
is now trending in New Zealand, ranking 4
I love the idea of an indiana Jones lesson
Had a S doing the dab thing & had a water bottle mishap. He did save the laptops.
A2 Slight problem embedding Pokemon in the learning @ my school... these got put up all after the release https://t.co/YHvaas973B
. Then you've got yourself a basis for a multi-model text right there. 2/2
Hi Carl from Avonsleigh Vic
Just getting home and readt to jump in blind
. Definately a way to build relationships with older Ss in sch from other classes too. Get them to come in & show my Ss all bt it
Have you see the David Attenborough narrations? hilarious https://t.co/Bezc0qviEE
A2 massive opportunity here! Map reading, navigating, directional language. Even narrating a journey!
wow that's disappointing.. we are looking at the elements of the game tonight as well.... but very sad :(
I sense 's earlier question coming back - should we gamify learning?
Q3 coming up in a minute...
A2: Always get up and move. Have Ss read the wall or do math with QR code scavenger hunts.
. ... well... about pretty much anything else. 2/2
Hey Carl! Welcome to the chat today
A2.1: another key piece is the physical movement. Construct a lesson that requires leaving the classroom (as possible).
we used QR codes for Ss reflections on school street art installations
Apparently the school was made into a gym & there were loads of poke-hunters swarming the school after the release
When you are using/discussing Pokemon Go w/ sts are you teaching them cyber & personal safety at the same time?
Nice Todd, even in English, we get outside as much as we can. A2
A3. I can see Pokemon Go elements being great to teach new Ss about their new school environment
A2 By building the urge to discover, hunt and be rewarded! Great approach for Ss from all ages
Kids at school love asking you to 'dab', my own chn. think I'm the most embarrassing teacher/ mother around

ahhh... understood... we have a gym opposite our school, but just too far to reach from the grounds!
again, one we will be discussing tonight :)
yep! Sometimes that can be scary for a graduate to find social ground with a member of the leadership team
If one more kid tries to 'flip a bottle' in my presence I fear I may scream! LOL
Kelly I must be having a psychic LOL!
. allows ppl to capture real life wildlife for how bloody awesome Jumpint onboard bandwagon
great idea! Help transition them from Primary to Secondary campus!
At the great risk of sounding uncool... what is this 'dab' business?
c discussion relevant to ur post.sitting on fence 4 now until functional impact if any known https://t.co/Uq2ZAos024
. A2 Love the Maths opport.Following treasure hunts. Comparisons etc. Got a bulbasaur 2 today . Research wth Ss Pokemons
Hmm not sure this works with the senior classes I teach! Still good to encourage them in their own time! https://t.co/Fc2FJK9urR
I have heard of a number of PDHPE teachers using Pokemon Go in their classes to get their students moving more
A3 - has done some great work using to get Ss outside to create more authentic experience in
Learning context. The hunt for learning comes from knowing a desirable outcome & pursuing its understanding.
Just finished 'screaming' quietly, as my son continued to flip a bottle up in the air onto the split system air con unit
3 Have 'Pokestops' around the school. To collect Pokeballs, students answer questions. Maybe incorporate QR codes?
A1: There is Pokemon API - get students building software/apps. https://t.co/OTWUjzpUqq
Q1. Building rapport is important for engaging classrooms. HMW use Pokemon Go as an opportunity to build rapport with students?
you could create a scavenger hunt style activity around the school - hide 'Pokemon' that lead Ss to information
A3 - In my classes, we encourage our Ss to build on their knowledge by exploring outside the class to create practical work
Just Like ! Make some Ss love the game and others will play it too
A3:someone mentioned the idea of a scavenger hunt.Creating a lesson where you use the bldg/campus to discover info would be great!
A3 yes, the world is outside the classroom walls... getting the Ss into the real world anyway we can is a must! PokemonGo...
A3 length lessons in maths - converting between metres and kilometres using multiplicative place value!
. Well, I sure do now know what that is. I'd never heard of it, but doesn't mean it's not a thing
. A2 Could do case studies on Pokémon(google) what their characteristics are c/f etc . Also adopt a pet Pokémon. Look after it etc
A3 ask Ss to create a learning journal of where they go. Take a photo, collect a pebble... be creative! https://t.co/dyCE66KjHH
Get them to reflect in their journeys and discoveries!
Get them to reflect in their journeys and discoveries!
Ok... almost time for Q4 :) start thinking of how you could incorporate Pokemon Go in your class for our last Q :)
I tend to get kids & students exploring outside sans their devices. Mud. Sticks. Sea. Poetry in nature. https://t.co/QAyAFi4drt
They gave up asking me to dab. I'm a grouchy old man and I am not their trained monkey.
It's just like a dance move
Link your class games with stories, reward the Ss who win and encourage others to try again
yeah but it's all flipped so all content at home - in class analysis, evaluation etc
Thats how we can engage those shy students everyone can tell a story https://t.co/wlGujOX8yO
Get them to reflect in their journeys and discoveries!
Haha thank you all for educating me on 'dab' :)
A3: love taking Ss out of the classroom into the real world for learning. Great opportunities for colab. crit. thinking and comm.
Nice and and it can be done visually if they choose so.
a2: working on projects that bring excitement and achievement. Create something. https://t.co/eYQKRfjOQU
Q2. One of the engaging elements of Pokemon Go is the thrill of the hunt! How can we embed this thrill into our lessons?
Is that you doing that move Stuart?
I created a scavenger hunt on plant groups - took forever, but got the Ss out of the room exploring!
A3. Mix SOLO taxonomy and rare Pokemon in a game. Easy identify answers get you a bat, compare or create ones get you a pikachu
yeah awesome! Always happy to talk flipped! Tell me more about it after this chat. :)
. And the world outside the classroom. There's an opportunity to instil pride of place - asking what's "Pokestop worthy."
In bitmoji form yes, if I do it for real too often, I'll hurt someone!
A3 p2 has an awesome unit. where his G4s part take in an Amazing Race around Tokyo, hitting landmarks as they go!
Q4. Collecting Pokemon & leveling up is the main objective of the game. HMW use these elements of gamification in our classrooms?
Love the idea of 'journeying' linking to Pokemon and real life!
Hi! Late arrival listening in from Canada
Sorry been playing PokémonGO all day with my girl. Getting ready for tomorrow. Look forward to catching up on the chat

. Or even a conversation about digital citizenship. Engaging students directly with the issues around privacy
We utilise to use elements of gamification in our approach to +ve behaviour
Ooooh i like that "what is pokestop worthy" https://t.co/uF5AKVMiUJ
. And the world outside the classroom. There's an opportunity to instil pride of place - asking what's "Pokestop worthy."
I was talking with another T about exploring suburbs/regions to see whether Pokemon availability relates to 'status'?
A4: using the 'Level up' language in feedback and success criteria
haha students do it all the time! Didn't know there was a name for it.
It most be really obvious I'm not into e-games. never been asked to dab. did get asked to watch olympics in class!
A4 differentiated learning through learning levels also some ss cab become Pokemon masters help others
but I'm not into watching sports either ;P
. 2/2 ... for and against the ban to remain in place. Or engaging in getting the school de-gymmed.
When I taught in England, student assessment was in 'levels' (changed after I left). Not sure it's good. https://t.co/evRqpJRuXv
Q4. Collecting Pokemon & leveling up is the main objective of the game. HMW use these elements of gamification in our classrooms?
A4 Sts self-differentiate maths learning, use playing cards to generate numbers they're ready to investigate, level up when ready
however, a country town with a lot of history could be a haven for Pokemon!!
.A3 Tch safety impt.Don't go into parks on yr own.Don't stop on roads.Outside my place someone stopped traffic to gt P (not me lol)
A4 - Reward our Ss in reaching certain levels through the curriculum, and reaching levels in PBL
. I like the idea of moment where what seems like an arbitrary plan is a demo of how we keep each other safe.
but do ss move through levels at own pace?
4 As you level up, the questions become harder.
Hi, Tam here in warm Nth QLD. I don't play Pokemon Go yet. Keen to though. :)
Emerald has an incredible amount of Pokemon
love it, some great ideas you are throwing out!
A4: it would be neat to take learning outcomes or skills and turn them into a "badge" system that allows Ss to "proceed" on.
this definitely has been done - it takes some time to get organised, but the Ss really enjoy it!
A4: I use kahoot & quizlet etc. Ss "level up" with quizlet from flashcards to test to speller to scatter to gravity as progress
an interesting ethics conversation with students considering what should not be a pokestop
not in the UK system. In my lessons now they work at their own pace.
. Happy to help. These are all "perfect-world" considerations, but what if... etc.
this is what I'd love my seniors to be doing - just need to work out the 'right' way
Tonight's chat has been great 4 engaging my teenage son. I'm seeing possibilities!
socrative is pretty good but I prefer Google Forms or Quizlet
A1. It would be a good team building activity. Collaborating on something fun together. Great at the beginning of a term/year.
a bit more hard work and less exciting. Better data if that's what you're after.
4 Qs down, 4 more to go :) some great conversations coming out of tonight's chat!!
I love socrative for the way I can ask any question at any time and have 28 responses instantly.
Gottcha, i'll be honest I think it is the Kahoot soundtrack & colours that keep em wanting more
nope. What's good about it?
I agree. lets you design your own badges.
. Sorry, guess I jumped the gun on that one :/
A5. Pokemon Go could also teach Ss about safe road crossing! LOL almost walked into a pole today! :)
can do same with Google Forms
.A4.Teaches so many concepts u can relate to real life & curriculum too Levels are in all things we do & all learning games & other
Yep it's pretty engaging!
A5 well an important case study on apps taking personal information
excellent! I'll have to check it out!
Absolutely! Different between virtual and real world. Real names. Trespassing. Pokestops. Lures. https://t.co/Z135iL9tQl
A5. 1/2 Lots of people got upset when the IOS version had access to your whole google account. But the bigger question is just...
A3 A scavenger hunt using elements of periodic table. Hunt different objects which are made of the various elements. Hubby's idea
A5 Absolutely!! Whenever i hear about Pokémon go players getting into dangerous situations, i am shocked at their lack of judgment
A2. No Pokemon as yet. I've taken students outside for math. Measured concrete path, called local supplier & got quote to build.
Q5.Pokemon Go is this month's stranger with candy! Have kids create the safety scenarios using Pokemon Go as the context
Q5 great conversation starter with the link to google log in - what does accepting / location services actually mean
You can do it in class or as HW and Ss can get to it at home and they work at their own pace.
A5. 2/2 ... of your data does google have anyway. And what's in those Licence Agreements that no one reads.

Was about to type the same thing! Seen lots of Poke-related near misses (& some hits) in the last month!
trespassing is a big one! A number of Pokestops have been removed for this reason
.A5Also being safe when using technology.Wouldn't want to see 5 yr old walkng round wth iPhone on their own Lots to learn bt safety
will look into it, thank you
Q5 digi ctzenship is an ongoing conversation Every time new tech arrives it needs a voice of reason https://t.co/k90s3TI4dp
A5 Always prioritise personal safety over the game! Play in teams!
should everything be gamified for students to engage ?
A5 - Absolutely. Many ways using real life examples to teach our Ss about digital citizenship
I don't think everything needs to be - but it is definitely a tool for Ts to use with their Ss
A5:if using web based resources (eg Twitter or Instagram) to document work, opportunity to remind about safe posting/feedback.
A5 Ss write descriptors on how to use PokemonGo safely.
do you know ?.because this tool you can know time and responses too
. Heck, there's a lesson or two in how GPS actually works. And how phones don't really do it.
A5 - Safety and common sense, When and where are places it might it be inappropriate to catch a pikachu?
Hi please accept my apologies. I am exhausted. Great to see Cairns teachers who joined Twitter yesterday already participating!
Yes indeed https://t.co/Uzl9gFpgmP
I love socrative for the way I can ask any question at any time and have 28 responses instantly.
I agree I think this game is more useful in the classroom
why sessions like this 2day r important 4 Ss tomorrow Tomorrow’s Digitally Enabled Workforce https://t.co/ydwSx5q1lx via
we look at this in the Stage 6 Senior Science course... very relevant!
It's pretty dangerous cause when ur in the middle of getting a rare Pokemon NOTHING ELSE MATTERS. https://t.co/BpisU5dhOW
A5 Absolutely!! Whenever i hear about Pokémon go players getting into dangerous situations, i am shocked at their lack of judgment
this is just the tip! We have over 50 badges and diff levels. Sts love it
That's the reason today was my first day playing. Too many apps/services 'require' things that they shouldn't.
. 1 city church invited people to come inside to their pokestop.Other places can hate trespassers.Gd chat but 11.15pmTired Gd night
A5 A guy told 2 teenaged girls he heard there was a rare Pokémon and offered to drive them and they agreed! He was testing them.
Q6. Pokemon Go could provide opportunities to build Ss capacity in literacy & numeracy - share your ideas on how we might do this.
Oh no! Tresspassing??? Let's talk about it! What about the park in Rhodes turning to mud. Not the point https://t.co/vg1eue2fHe
Absolutely! Different between virtual and real world. Real names. Trespassing. Pokestops. Lures. https://t.co/Z135iL9tQl
how do you make these badges??? My pastoral care team would love.
is a tool makes test online and do you have a profile Teacher where you can read the Ss Work https://t.co/yHlU4Qzzez
. It took an annoying long time for the IOS vers. to offer a login option other than a Google Account. Poor form.
https://t.co/nwcwS2VetM
Aim of game is to collect Pokemon friends to help you on your journey. To be the leader, utilising abilities of each to succeed.
Hey put those feet up! Lots of Cairns teachers kicking around! :)
Pop your phone into Aeroplane Mode, turn on WiFi, open Maps. See how close it is. Discuss!
. Drafting a school policy on it's use even. I guess it depends on the school of course.
A2 plant clues around the room
A6: journaling about experiences & then sharing ideas in a blog format/Google Docs for Ts and other Ss to read/give feedback.
program that allows teachers to create simple quizzes that students can take quickly on laptops
Cairns is an awesome place, wish I could visit there more often
Here is an example of the actions that unlock the badges e.g. need 100 Helping Others pts to unlock badge https://t.co/6n2873ohNJ
Writing about their experiences, working out whether they have enough points to take a gym, endless... https://t.co/WCg3vvzarQ
A6. Some ideas already passed around - Ss convert units from km to m, time how long it takes them to travel a distance
Huge opportunities for passion & creative writing for starters! A6
A6 Metric length measurement and conversion lessons for Years t and 6 students using Pokémon Go.
A6. Ss could choose a Pokemon & it's data and create a habitat for it to live in using a creative writing piece
. Totally. Pokemon has been around for over 20 years. There's plenty of lore to draw from
A6 - As a maths teacher, to me being able to translate the use of Pokemon Go into measurement and potentially time
A6. Ss could calculate percentage of total Pokemon they have in their Pokedex, ratio of water:grass Pokemon...
https://t.co/XXCe0Rxsij
related directly to learning experience. Gaining friends, leveraging each other's strengths to collective gain, learning to lead.
A6.1: would love to incorporate some geography and map reading skills too!

https://t.co/nwcwS2VetM

I feel like such a stick in the mud. Having so much difficulty embracing the idea of putting pokemon go into my classroom.
Q6 Lots of opps for persuasive writing; should ch'n be allowed? should poke fight @ the gym? Is Poke Go good for U?
This is how I incorporated with numeracy. Lots of prep but so worth it! Any questions, just ask https://t.co/XN3HIgvisa
We used as inspiration for our maths lesson. Students found Pokemon with QR codes, solving decimal ??s https://t.co/sLRrtYMSdh
A6 rate of increase of combat points per level per Pokemon.
thanks for sharing - such an awesome idea!! It sounds like lots of fun!!
That's okay, but have you thought about why?
Could they also potentially look at currency conversion as well?
understandable... not everything is for everyone :)
This is quite out of my depth / area of interest. I tried. Thank you. See you next week
. 1/2 There's theories that the app's ability to track distance is way off. So there could be an exercise in...
Ok last Q - we have been doing it throughout the chat, but here's your chance to share an idea! https://t.co/ntpb3I163F
. 2/2 ... working out how much walking various phones take to hatch an egg vs. walking 5km IRL.
A6 I guess if it there was a community issue like tresspassing or congestion you could use that as a literacy activity
I agree and I know your not a stick in the mud https://t.co/pnJXmBUs4e
understandable... not everything is for everyone :)
We couldn't put every new trend into the classroom! It's just another tool if you're looking for something.
I thought of this too... as comparison between accuracy of Pokemon app, FitBit & phone pedometer!
I'm not going to put Pokemon Go in my class. But I am going to keep talking about it with Ss and Ts! https://t.co/MQJwzJkzAc
Ok last Q - we have been doing it throughout the chat, but here's your chance to share an idea! https://t.co/ntpb3I163F
. And even just counting in one's own head, introducing notions of human error.
