A1: Teacher Therapy--from @AskTheTechCoach but also an avenue to be more efficient, engaging & purposeful with what amazing teacher are already doing. #MTedchat
A1: Technology integration is the meaningful, thoughtful, and strategic effort to provide learning experiences that encourage students to communicate, create, collaborate, curate, and think critically. Access to varied tools and tasks is critical. #mtedchat
A1: Tech integration is 1) important because technology is such a big part of our lives and Ss need to learn to use it responsibly but 2) shouldn’t be done just to do it. #MTedchat
Very true... I often find myself navigating to my comfortable core... Tools for research, tools for curation, and tools for collaboration. Becoming a Google district definitely simplified some of that for us. #mtedchat
A1: Technology integration transforms learning and engagement on so many different levels for both teachers and students. I have observed it level the playing field for everyone involved. #MTedchat
A1 Technology integration is teaching students how to utilize technology safely by providing them with elevant, authentic experiences and opportunities to engage with technology. #mtedchat
A2: Most of our students don't have their own devices at home. No computers or network access.. We use a LOT of tech to ensure they don't fall behind their peers in larger more financially stable areas. #mtedchat This years focus is on videoconferencing.
A2) I see Ts use tech for Ss to collaborate, take turns, share their day & knowledge with others in & out of school. Tech gives some quieter Ss a voice and platform. Ss create! #MTedchat
A2: It gives them the opportunity to take control of their learning and share what they know in many different ways, not just the same old textbook, paper, pencil & test. #mtedchat
A2: Both positive & negative. It's all about purpose and teaching Ss to be "fluid" with traditional, digital, & real/fake while keeping voice and collaboration. Another "consequence" is kids not knowing what tools to use for what, when tech was simple we knew. #MTedchat
A2: Has great success with audio books. Use a kindle fire to help struggling readers. They can listen as they read. Helps with comprehension. #MTedchat
A2 Technology gives my Ss experiences that they wouldn't have otherwise. They have a chance to "see the world" and connect with experts and other students all over the world. #mtedchat
A2 ability to connect content to Ss tech driven society, making learning more relevant & engaging. ability to close opportunity gaps among Ss w. disabilities who couldnt communicate w. traditional pencil/paper & provided opp to exp life beyond their immediate community #mtedchat
A2: One thing tech does is prepares students for the future. These are 21st century skills that Ss need. Tech will only increase as Ss get older. #MTedchat
So, the content that we teach isn’t as important. It’s critical thinking skills, grit, ability to work with others, really the ability to learn. Those are the skills they can apply to new situations and adapt to what’s coming. #MTedchat
A3: I exercise a lot of patience when using tech. Let's face it, it doesn't matter how many times or how slowly you give directions to elementary Ss, some are always going to be 7 steps behind you. #mtedchat
A3) Ss are much better at jumping in than we usually are as Ts. By freeing them to lead their own learning, they drive the learning-building skills, knowledge, and confidence. Always focus on the digital citizenship piece. #MTedchat
And it seems sacrilegious to say our content doesn’t matter, but for like my AP Lit kids, it’s not super important that they know how to analyze poetry, but it is important that they don’t fold when confronted with something hard. #Mtedchat
A3: Students support me by being flexible, patient, and sometimes they end up teaching me what we are supposed to be doing/learning. Ha Ha I learn tips and tricks from them everyday. #MTedchat
A3. With Tech integration in the classroom...the teacher is no longer the "giver of knowledge" Ts and Ss can explore contents collaboratively.
#MTedchat
A3 I started a Tech Buddy program at our school, so K-3 come in and buddy with my 5th graders. Myself and the other teacher learn right beside the kids! It takes the pressure off the teacher who is not as comfortable with tech. #MTedchat
A3: Constantly... It's a dynamic exercise in differentiation. All teachers are in different places w/edtech and all students are as well. Some savvy w/communication, but not creation...It's important to use what is comfortable and teach others, and try new, seeking help #mtedchat
So far we have just focused on posting pictures of our work. Next week I hope to integrate the activities I have picked out for Ss to work on. #MTedchat
Agreed... And we always have to come back to the why. If what you are doing is truly effective, why make major shifts. Can a substitution shift help engage (SAMR)? What is the anticipated outcome? Content has a huge place in that equation #mtedchat
So, the content that we teach isn’t as important. It’s critical thinking skills, grit, ability to work with others, really the ability to learn. Those are the skills they can apply to new situations and adapt to what’s coming. #MTedchat
I think this I esp true when your school doesn't have 1:1 and/or varying amounts of tech from T to T. This is where I'm from and so often I seek out ideas and support from others who've had certain tech pieces longer. #mtedchat
Yes!! SO true. We have a very small school and are able to write Donors Choose Grants for most classroom-based tech. My definition of 1:1 varies a bit...not that they each have one device, but there is always a device in the learning environment that meets their needs #mtedchat
I am down....Ever Wednesday we have "Tech Training" for 30 minutes after school. The interest has been amazing! #mtedchat
the idea of a digital pln would blow the heads off some of our faculty.
Exactly... Another great benefit is the ability to have students delve into different layers of content asynchronously. You can still bring all together for meaningful group and class time too. #mtedchat
A3: But seriously, showing them how to navigate research databases, doing media literacy (what is fake news?) help them process social media. #MTedchat
A4: I think a tech leader is someone who tries emerging tools when it fits their lessons. They share out what they do in a way that others might be drawn to try too... A tech leader should not become the tech support for the school in lieu of district tech department #mtedchat
A4 It means we are Game Changers who are willing to take risks and share our passion with others. It means we don't have all the answers, but we will figure it out with help from our amazing PLN! #MTedchat

A4. I just (in the last hour) made a podcast and blog post on this. Leading in Tech does NOT mean telling others that the "old way" is Wrong.
We build the climate of improvement and encouragement by teaching the skill necessary to be successful with classroom Tech. #MTedchat
A4: If you are a tech leader you use tech, share it with others, and help others along the way! Take some chances, FAIL, persevere, and keep going! #mtedchat
A4: A technology integration leader = Learner, Listener, Growth Minded, Recognizes and Celebrates Others Success, Empathetic, Innovative and most importantly a TEACHER #Mtedchat
A4 Tech leaders are willing to try new technology and take risks. They help pave the way for others and provide support in the integration of technology into classroom activities. #mtedchat
A4) A tech leader is someone others respect and seek out for their adventurous spirit in the ever changing seas of tech development (AKA the app store). They set sail and explore unchartered waters w/o hesitation. Maybe the next #TLAP series. #MTedchat

A tech integration leader gives their Ss ideas about tech - creating and sharing in ways they'd like to see their Ss create and share. Then, letting them have a hand at it. Trying, failing, succeeding, improving. Teacher AND students...together. #mtedchat
A4: I think it means to bravely try new technology in your classroom, while letting others see you fail and succeed. It means meeting others where they are at, skill wise, and encouraging them to keep trying everyday. #MTedchat
I appreciate that you mentioned "and the tech is available at home" there are more families that we realize who do not have access to the tech many of us take for granted. #mtedchat
A5) We are lucky to have our amazing @BPSTIS here, also other leaders in our building, those adventurous sailors, my PLN and my wife @connectedones#MTedchat gurus help out more than they know!
A4 a tech leader is someone who goes out of his or her way to help educate someone who does not know about a certain area of technology. They also find ways to teach their learners in ways that are easy to understand #mtedchat
I tell my students that every book I read to them can inspire ideas for their own writing. In the same way when you share a variety of tech you inspire ideas for learning, creating, and sharing. #mtedchat
Right on! We need to find the level of developmentally appropriate agitation for each of our teachers.
(this is a good strategy for the classroom too...)
#mtedchat
Yes, our district had a program to lend laptops to families but even then, families must either pay for services at home or transportation to a WiFi location. We cannot assume. #mtedchat
Consider using @tweetdeck to schedule your questions at scheduled times. That tool always allowed me the ability to moderate AND participate in the chat without losing track of timing. #MTedchat
A6 Our class blog fit into everything we did, day to day work, guest speakers, field trips. We posted all about it on our blog in just a few easy steps. A window to our classroom! #MTedchat
A6. Well used @nearpod integrates tech very well into the classroom. Like any tool...teacher skill with implementation is the "golden ticket" #mtedchat
