Happy Thursday everyone! I’m Whitney from southeast Missouri. I teach HS SPED and am an instructional tech coach. I’m also helping coordinate #EdCampSEMO that’s happening in just over a week!! #moedchat
A1 Ss might feel ownership of their learning environment. Ss might feel respected and that their voice matters. Learning might increase. #moedchat#WhatIf
A1: As a 5th grade teacher I feel like each year the room would change because kids are ALWAYS unique. I gave #flexibleseating my best shot this year and my kids begggged for a desk and a place of their own. Last year, that group would have LOVED it. #moedchat
A1: More freedom in the space and seating, less posters and more student work, more areas to draw out thinking. I think they would take more pride in the space and ownershipof the class. #MOedchat

A1. Oooo, I like this. Really makes me think. Dreaming of converting a traditional lab into a maker/innovation space. Bet Ss have some great thoughts. Why don’t we ask kids for input when we redesign spaces? @Flipgrid is a great tool to collect S ideas. #moedchat#flipgridfever
Yes, our Ss helped design our Innovation Lab and yesterday they rearranged it. Love their excitement when given the opportunity to make their mark on a learning space. #moedchat

A1- Ss are dedicated to the environment, it is theirs. As different as all students are, so is their learning space design. Ownership of their classroom brings less discipline issues. #moedchat
A2: If we are talking about by demonstration, I think that it is effective for younger S's. It's a good strategy to both explain and demonstrate a difficult concept, but you can't in every subject. MO's curriculum is a little more complex than an otters #moedchat
A3 Communities for learning might look like a museum, zoo, makerfaire, studio, etc., where there is #stuchoice & where Ss explore their interests & passions alongside experts and/or professionals #moedchat#WhatIf
A2: modeling, guiding, helping along when things became too tough... there is this natural understanding that by showing and urging them to try expectation will be met #MOedchat
Honestly, I think it surprised me the most on what they didn’t want such as adjustable tables or yoga ball chairs since those seem to be popular in many flex classrooms. #moedchat
A4 I tried that in summer school last year and I learned a lot, including a lot about the students! I need to try that with my classes this semester. #moedchat
A4b I have a student that rides a weird 2 wheeled swively skateboard thingy to school every day, whenever I have dismissal duty, she stops and tries to teach me, I fail… #nobrokenbonesyet#moedchat
A4: I think Ts would be amazed at what Ss could teach. I'm always amazed at what kids know just from following their interests. Ts would have a better understanding of their Ss which would strength relationships and their lessons. #MOedchat
#kidscanteachus. Ss teach us daily, we need to take a moment to let it soak in. I think we would learn how they want to lear more deeply. #moedchat@thelivbits
A4b When teachers turn the class over to students it allows you to see what's important to the kids. It also makes you evaluate the way you teach. I've seen Ss that are better teachers than actual teachers. #moedchat
I had students try to teach me how to hit the quan and ju ju on that beat...let's just say it was community building and I was willing to look ridiculous... #moedchat
A4: my kids are constantly teaching me things. I try to ask about their interests on a daily basis. Most the time I have no idea what they’re talking about. I’ve learned a lot about anime, video games, music, and the latest slang. Lessons would be cool too! #moedchat
A4-We would be much wiser! My best moments this week were spent learning from students at Hazelwood East High. I gained a refresher in Algebra & learned from a young lady on how she could extend care & compassion to a student not being included. #priceless#MoEdChat#whatif
So true! My own children will be limited in their access to and highly supervised in their use of social media because of what I've learned from my students. #moedchat
A5: then Wikipedia would crash from being overloaded with searches and teachers would go insane trying to tell them that Wiki is not a creditable source. 🤦🏼♀️😂 #moedchat
Yeah, I kinda feel bad for my own kids because they are going to live so regimented with technology due to my Ss shared experiences. #teacherkidprobs#moedchat
A4) I learned today all about Gif or gif and the history of acronyms. Sorry I am late. We had visitors that wouldn’t leave and wound up the kid! #moedchat
A5. Textbooks, I think we could do without. There are lots of creative alternatives to teach curriculum. Don’t ban my library books, please. #loveofreading#moedchat
A5 I would LOVE it if they banned textbooks! I tried to talk admin into paying me to create lessons instead of spending money on textbooks but lost that one. My College Readiness class has no book. #moedchat
My Ss designed our classroom this year. We partnered with the company that designed the new Cerner campus. Ss researched what they wanted, made scale models and presented to parents, principal and superintendent! Chairs, tables, storage... all them! @DrEllsworthOPS#moedchat
