Good morning everyone and welcome. I am Julie, co-founder of #NT2t So happy to have you here, sharing your weekend with us. Make sure you introduce yourself to us and say hello!
We, as educators (Parents, Grandparents...) should model being constant learners as learning takes place at all times and in all places online or offline too. Our Learning Pages https://t.co/wvlnS1Ki3i#edchat#edtechchat#nt2t
A1: Sustainable learning is a dynamic learning process. It leads to cognitive networking between what is learned and the environment, it aims at deeper understanding.
#nt2t
A1: It think you can interpret sustainable learning in two ways.
1. It's about teaching about sustainability like here: https://t.co/9kwdjSEDhJ
2. It's more about the persistence of learning/competences/knowledge.

A2: Students need space in the learning process to find out where they have questions. They should realize that questions are often more important than actual answers. Students need an environment in which they feel safe.

#nt2t I’m a teacher and school leader from Norway. Here is my website with lesson plans that are aimed at year 1-3 high school. They should cover sustainability in learning. https://t.co/rDLGGUYe5q
This week's #ToandThrough event held in Chicago should be useful resource for #nt2t#satchat#clmooc educators. Browse the Twitter feed and open links, especially to @UChiToThrough web resources.

A2: It begins with mutual respect, building positive relationships,and having clear expectations. Greet kids at the door, ask them how they are doing, allow student input for rules/learning. Be firm when needed. Engage students, change activities every 15 minutes. #nt2t

But now I'm a little bit confused. If I search for "deep learning", I got this:
https://t.co/nvHGO5c2nR
"part of a broader family of machine learning methods based on learning data representations"

As educators, we can help students relate to others by
* connecting students with others
* helping students understand their own feelings
* encouraging dialog about feelings
* helping understand culture.
It helps to know there are plenty of layers of human needs. #sparkempathy
A5: The mere definition of ecosystem is "a complex network or interconnected system." Learning is an interconnected process. Because of the interconnectedness, learning must be deep to understand the big picture, the whole system, not just pieces. #NT2t
A5: A classroom is a place where learners live and work together - communicating, collaborating, growing. Sometimes some of them need help and others could support. So it's like a micro-society. #nt2t
I often hear “Maslow’s before Bloom’s,” but can it be simultaneous with learning? It’s just that learning can’t happen without those human needs. #nt2t

I don't think it a "before" thing, I think it should be simultaneous. Learning is personal in nature, so Maslow's is part of learning. Unfortunately some educators see it as "fluff" #NT2t

It doesn't even have to be teaching something, but something as simple as having a great question, or wondering out loud, or thinking of something from another perspective. All of this leads to learning & growth. #NT2t
Hm... food and shelter as “fluff”? 😒
Or more likely “not our problem.” Schools CAN and should provide security and build trust. And... yeah, food. #nt2t
A6: I think we can use social media to expand ours and students thinking about a problem or current issue. Instead of seeing things from our point of view only, use social media to connect with others globally and see things through their eyes. #NT2t
A6) Digital platforms open opportunities to reach many different types of learners AND stakeholders. The most lasting learning is a community effort and is inclusive to all. #nt2t
A6: Digital tools can support the learning process because
1. They are part of students' everyday life.
2. They are another kind of media - they open up new opportunities - described in SAMR-model.
3. They are not bound to places or time's

Okay friends, my dogs are doing the "I have to go out NOW" dance! Have a great weekend and thanks for helping me grow my understanding of sustainable learning! #NT2t

We have regular discussions about building positive relationships daily, seeking a tone and approach for successful outcomes, delivering quality instruction. I also consistently ask the question- “how do we know?” The kids are learning- how do we know? #nt2t
