Hi #bfc530! I have a question for us.....the ice dancers sometimes make obvious, public mistakes and then keep going. How do we move past embarrassing mistakes in our work?
#bfc530 Good Morning from Durham, CT, where it is going to be almost 70 degrees! (Then an icy mix tomorrow). First day back after a 2 day break in the district
It's crazy right? My daughter was outside riding her bike last night & it looks like she will have the opportunity again today, but then it looks like we will be putting back in the garage for awhile. #bfc530

For me, I try to keep the excitement going with great read alouds and new projects #bfc530 I try to not be bored in my teaching; then the students are not

When I make mistakes I strive to: own them, share then, and learn from them! Kids need to see us make and own mistakes so that they can learn to be brave and bold too #happensalot#bfc530
There's no hiding a mistake from students. Try to cover it up and they will figure it out. Best bet is to admit mistakes, laugh about it if you can, and use it as an example - persistence, flexibility, learning from mistakes. #bfc530

When we did our Mini Golf Project this yr shared w/students the changes I made from lessons I learned from last year. Teachers need to display how we move toward excellence, reflection, evaluation, & implementing changes. #bfc530
That I love them even when they make mistakes—whether academically or socially. And that I’m a total goofball who is willing to try new things with them. That we are all far from perfect, but that we are in this thing together. #bfc530
If they don't see me make at least one mistake a day, I'm doing something wrong, because we're always trying something new. However, I could do without my shirt being inside out again. #bfc530
Focus on the positives and small victories each day. Remember while it may be our 1,000th time (at least) teaching something it’s our Ss first time learning it. Make it count.#bfc530
They are so much more perceptive and excitable now compared to the fall - A stroller ride down the street is going to be the biggest adventure of their lives! #bfc530
Tag a friend you want to chat with tomorrow night as we talk about Culturally Responsive Teaching on #NoVAedChat. We have a SPECIAL guest co-host, Katie [@acuteteacher]. @TechyMargaret & I can't wait!
Back today after giving in to bronchitis and then President’s Day long weekend - it’s the year of breaks to learning! Finding it hard to create a rhythm...but glad to finally see my kids again! #BFC530
Who else has apologized to a student for a mistake you made that effected them & they have the look on their face of "What's going on here, am I on Candid Camera?" Just shows it doesnt happen enough. #bfc530
Today I used a new computer system with my class. I outlined that would be making mistakes and changing the procedures regularly and that was Ok because I was learning #bfc530
I had this song on record when I was a kid ( aging myself here ). I remember marching around to it, and now I sing it to my kids when they spill milk #bfc530https://t.co/jIt0vVqgib
Thanks, Laura, for taking the initiative on this! While the social aspect is nice, the power of this or any Ed Chat is learning ideas from peers across the world on issues we deal with in our school & classes. That (IMO) is driven by high quality Qs & followup. #bfc530
I believe it’s time to elevate the profession. Educators must raise their voices. So I’m going first. No longer can the voices of practitioners be absent from policy. Order the book on Amazon: https://t.co/lhDjMZ9YWY via https://t.co/vxx5hMY8kG
I am trying Genius Hour right now in a HS math class. Gave no direction other than “Teach me something.” Some Ss flourished. It’s awesome. Others can’t swim without some support and now are taking off. #bfc530

I've had experiences like that w/students playing variations of Breakout EDU. (Granted, that game environment has many tacit instructions.) For all parties, including yours truly, among what happened were: creation, frustration, inspiration, perspiration, reflection. #bfc530
