Hey #3rdchat! So glad to be here with you tonight and moderating tonights chat! If I could write ANY type of book.. I think I would write a dystopian novel.. .think Hunger Games, mixed with Divergent, mixed in with the Scythe series... those are my Jam!
I am sad to be missing #3rdchat this week, but I am enjoying being unplugged and spending quality time with my hubby.

A1: I love to read "Miss Nelson is Missing" and make wanted posters. I also love to read "First Day Jitters". I have then had the students respond writing or drawing a picture of their first day jitters. #3rdchat

A1: I am looping so I have to think about that. I do love First Day Jitters....but have to do different year two. I am probably doing some Growth Mindset focused books. #3rdchat
The students also enjoy The _______ From the Black Lagoon Series. I read those in the first week and they write about ______ from the Black Lagoon! I still LOVE the ending of First Day Jitters as much as the students. #3rdchat
A2: Our first ELA Unit is all about friendship, so we read "Rugby and Rosie" and "The Legend of Damon and Pythias". I can't wait to hear some more ideas from all of you! #3rdchat

A3: I just ordered "The Dot". I'm looking forward to reading that one with my students. I also love My Fantastic Elastic Brain, The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes, and Conscious Discipline books about Shubert. #3rdchat
A3: This year I am going to REALLY focus on growth mindset in our morning meetings.. my two favorite books to share with my Ss are The Girl Who Never Made Mistakes and The Most Magnificent thing.. I can't wait to see what you use! #3rdchat

A5: When I am teaching math.. i LOVE using the Greg Tang books that he has, and the kids get so into them as well. For Science I love the What If series.. and it's great to use those books to integrate writing as well! #3rdchat

A8: I LOVE starting our first read aloud of the year with the spunky character Clementine. I love hearing my Ss giggles as she does silly thing after silly thing and makes bad decision after bad decision. It provides for great conversation! #3rdchat
A8: I use the Magic Tree House series for our book club - around 2nd trimester I begin doing this bc most students are transitioning into chapter books and it's a little scary.
I also use the companion fact tracker and do mini lessons. #3rdChat
