Hey #cuechat Marshall from Central California! EdTech ToSA. Excited to be co-moderating tonight with @MrNunesteach@FunTechEd and @RemScience. My favorite affiliate event is ALL OF THEM!!
Hello #cuechat I'm so excited to be one of tonight's moderators. My favorite affiliate event is TechFest with the #capcuepln But I love the informal ones such as #CoffeeCUE
Kyle in Reno, NV, special education teacher, I'm biased by my @CUENV events, but I have had some great times at other affiliates events, like @SGVCUE and @capcue#cuechat
Emerging from the turkey coma after Thanksgiving and heading into December, takes some extra creativity at times. First, let’s reflect. What is something you're thankful for heading into December? #CUEChat
What is up #cuechat? Gregory Thomas Eilers, reigning from the metropolis of Modesto, CA. Project Coord, Ed Tech at COE. I usually don't play favorites, but the CapCUE Tech Fest is a pretty dope affiliate event.

A1: very thankful my mom is responding well to her cancer treatment! #cuechat professionally I am thankful for my principal @kkollmann04 for building a positive culture!
Hey homey! Looking forward to seeing you in a month at #techrodeo, unless you want to come to Carson City next week for our Google Summit with #edtechteam#cuechat

Anything Mexican food related... I think a #cuetaco meetup should happen someday! Ortega's outside of Fresno, it's centrally located for most affiliates and @techcoachjuarez introduced me, they are definitely bomb! #cuechat
A1: Thankful for all the dedication our teachers give to their students, their time and talents in using tech tools to support successful student learning. Wishing all a healthy, peaceful, and joyful celebration this Holiday #cuechat

Q2: With the holidays approaching, schedules get crazy with performances, assemblies, etc. It is easy to focus on the "finish line" (a.k.a. the holiday break). How do you stay motivated in the days leading up to the "finish line"? #CUEChat

A2: I have several IEPs to complete, which are federally and state regulated, so my motivation is to follow the law as well as provide for my kids for the next 3-4 weeks! #cuechat

A2: No one really wants in classroom tech support right now...so I am getting ready to unveil my 12 days of TECHmas and prep for January roll out of SWAP it! (under construction) #CUEchat
Dude, it is ON! And other meal has to be pho, @techcoachjuarez@kat_goyette and @RemScience and I got our #phocue on last year and it needs to happen again! #cuechat
PS, I love how conversation always resorts to food!

A2: I try to keep a " how much amazingness can we pack into the next four weeks" attitude instead of a "hope this goes by fast" attitude. My amazing students and super supportive fam bam and #pln help keep me on track with that! #cuechat#WeAreCUE
A2: I challenged my teachers to implement 15 days of #TLAP HOOKS! I want to encourage teachers, through notes, videos, cards each day for the rest of the semester! 1 per day minimum! #cuechat focus on others!
A2: I create a checklist of things I need to get done. Ss always keep me motivated and inspired. I also try to not get to excited bc not all our Ss are looking forward to their breaks. #cuechat
A2: I incorporate activities that are both fun and skill-based. I love @ericcurts materials. Students are learning skills (like keyboard shortcuts) while doing something fun and engaging. #cuechat
#cuechat A2: I just keep going day-by-day serving the needs of our schools. I recently resurrected our 'Tech Tuesdays' initiative, which has been really well received. Today was 'Making the most of Google Drive' - https://t.co/aYZ7bRvdAJ

For every IEP I need to write, I create a checklist for each student, color coded and pinned, and as I hit each benchmark of the process, I check it off. I set reminders for Calendar of those lists too #cuechat

Hey #cuechat Pam Rabin @SanDiegoCOE@SanDiego_CUE poppin’ in A2) I was found the closer I got that last day before break, the more I need to pull out experiences. Breakout EDU, Google Expeditions, things like that keep you motivated and your kids riveted.
A3: I don't push too much right now. I am there when they need me. I am pumping up some #EduProtocol opportunities for January and the next round of YOU Cubes https://t.co/aBZlXdurQR#CUEchat
A3: If you've ever met me IRL, you know that I am goofy and always good for a joke. While I always try to keep the humor going, this time of year is important to roll with it even more to get a chuckle out of folks that need it during a stressful time! #cuechat
Q2: Teaching is so cyclical. It’s easy to focus on finish lines but every day is an opportunity that I intend to maximize w/Ts. Let’s not put off (until after the holidays) what can be implemented today 😊#cuechat
A2: I get creative with learning. We dig into the Holocaust in literature. I use a variety of resources and have the Ss create a comic book/graphic novel at the end. Then we cruise toward Christmas w/ "A Christmas Carol" for literary relief. #CUECHAT

A1 Thankful that the finish line is in sight for my #NatGeo certification application, time with family at Thanksgiving, and cooler temps as fires around California finally seem to be under control. #CUEChat

I'll write an IEP over lesson plans any day of the week! I feel I get to know a student so much better with IEPs than a lesson plan for a class, regardless of how differentiated it is for the variety of learners #cuechat

I can’t explain how much I used to run for the finish line this time of year. Now I try to savor every moment. My daughter’s bday is a week before Xmas and my son’s is a week after. I love this time of year. #allAboutPerspective#cueChat

A3 try new things! This is a great time for a breakout, explore some new coding, a PBL or engineering design challenge! I think holiday slide happens when Ts and Ss aren’t excited and engaged!!! #cuechat#champforkids
A3: I try to empathize - we've all hard those rough spots when we really need a break (for all kinds of reasons) and just stay positive and supportive. :) #cuechat#bettertogether

A3: I’m trying to inspire teachers with fun strategies & activities to try, that are low set up & high engagement! Tomorrow theme based PD #tlap#cuechat@Flipgrid#geniushour#farkle
A3: I love sharing the things students are producing, staying positive, and always making myself available to offer a helping hand! #cuechat#wearecue#bettertogether
A3: I have a Purple Sequin Jacket I plan on wearing to keep people smiling. Does that count? That, and maybe an ugly sweater...with my face on it. #cuechat#humor
A2: pt2 After we read "A Christmas Carol" we watch the Patrick Stewart version and the Doctor Who episode and analyze. We finish with a Dickens themed celebration. This year, a group of Ss and I will see the play in SF on a Sunday afternoon. #CUECHAT
Hello #CUEchat! Jumping in late...actually got home in time to join a chat...finally.
Angela from CA and my fave event so far ... that's hard, bc they have all been different - BUT I would like to thank #GCcue#SDcue and #SGVcue for having me as a presenter this year :)
A1: I am thankful for our CA weather! It may be a bit chilly, but having the sun out makes it much easier to get ready and head to school in the morning...Plus, the warmth feels so good in the afternoon #CUEchat
A4: Easier said than done? Gotta keep making your lessons interesting and engaging. My co-teacher likes the motivational speech where he tells them that his teacher hat is on for 7.5 hours each day until Dec. 22, the kids get a kick out of his speeches #cuechat
A4: If I were in the classroom, I would definitely be using digital breakouts. I would likely let Ss create a breakout...how fun would that be for them to take home for the holidays! Better than reciting a poem to the family, right? #CUEchat
I used @ClassDojo to track specific engagement behaviors. Before an IEP mtg, I'd download an individual student report, so my comments aren't just my opinions, but rather time-stamped data about how often I observed the student participating, contributing, helping, etc. #cuechat

A3: I engage. I smile. I find it is as important to be present for my colleagues as for my Ss. And I spice up outfits here and there. Sparkles, rad socks, and the last day before break we wear costumes for our Dickens celebration! #CUECHAT#TLAP#CCCUE#BetterTogether
#cuechat A4: I show up in class from time-to-time! Asked for an example 3rd grade student today to test out some ClassDojo issues...EVERY kid threw their hand in the air. Very cute.
Love it! My only issue is 90% of my caseload is not in my class, I have to rely heavily on teacher feedback and observation, I don't get to go into their classes very much as I am co-teaching four classes #cuechat

A4: VR googles, relevant topics, green screen @DoInkTweets@WeVideo using choice boards to “show what they know”, games, #tlap hooks no down time #cuechat
A3a As a tech coach, I try to give teachers a bit of a break. Tomorrow, I'm teaching #GoogleEarth and #OneNoteClassNotebook to a 6th grade class so the teacher can be a student for a bit then later it's #MicrosoftWhiteboard training! Fun day! #CUEChat
You might want to check out OneNote for your caseload. Share with teachers and they can add their notes. Have a section for each student with various pages for notes, paperwork, contact logs, etc. (I used to teach #SpEd.) #cuechat

A3: For my fellow TOSAs, I got some of those mini light strands to decorate our cubicles. Our office SPARKLES now :) It's the little things :) #CUEchat
One of my classes wanted me to turn on music today, I told them I was gonna turn on Cannibal Corpse! Sadly, no one knew who that was, so it ended up being a jazz compilation on YouTube #cuechat
A4: This is a fab time of year to really maximize Ss voice/choice. Hour of Code Menu, map options, story writing, podcasting, videos, PBL is meaningful and learning is in high-gear. #CUECHAT#CCCUE#BetterTogether#VoiceandChoice
I'm not very familiar with OneNote, we are a Google district. I use Keep, Forms, Sheets to track a lot of the info. A single stream would be nice though! #cuechat

A5- We had Craft Day. I guess you could say it was following direction activities...but I think it was more about the "durable skills" of giving, creating, thinking of others. etc. #CUEchat
With Ss, I used to have them make an ornament representing their favorite book or author. A tree in a computer lab could be covered with favorite tech tips, apps, and programs. #cuechat#techtree
A4: to keep the Ss motivated I make sure we are including holiday learning
this means learning about cultures, traditions, exposure to music, and film...
#CUEchat
A4 I like to bring in the sports world and talk about the 2min warning drill, the 9th inning top ace reliever to close the game out, the last stretch on the on te track and sprinters/runners give it an extra kick..etc etc #cuechat
A5: I do "Make a Snowman" in Google Slides - another @ericcurts activity. And the winter rebus story - gets kids writing and my ELLs and kiddos in SPED loved the visuals! #cuechat
A5: I'm not great at this. I don't get into the holiday spirit much anymore. This time of year reminds me a lot of my grandmother hooked up to various machines in the hospital and how I never got to see my brother one last time before he passed #cuechat
A5 I think my favorite year in the classroom was when my Ss decided to use most of their holiday party time to make fleece blankets for a local foster facility. Go for humanity standards and do something good for the community or California fire victims. #CUEChat
A5: I am going to be working with 2nd graders tomorrow on designing a gingerbread man and then writing a narrative story about him/her. #cuechat#wearecue
A5: My “big idea” is having students #ironchef the CA regions. Then pick one to create a “gingerbread house” blueprint in @tinkercad that would work in that region. Hopes to then have them create the houses. #bestlaidplans#cuechat
Slightly off the question, but another tip is to send home holiday book order forms in a sealed envelope offering to "hide" the orders until the last day before break. Help parents with gift giving and get bonus points to buy things for your class. #CUEChat#everyonewins
A5: Read "A Christmas Carol," then watch movie w/ Patrick Stewart, then watch the Doctor Who episode that corresponds. Analyze/discuss/write Then have a Dickens Christmas celebration with themed foods and costumes. It is my favorite. #CUECHAT#Whovian#DickensChristmas
It's free. 😊 We're a hybrid district and have both. I have a blogpost that I wrote inspired by helping a family member set up OneNote to track SpEd paperwork and ditch the giant binder: https://t.co/dM7vKyDuVi#cuechat Feel free to DM me if you have any questions. Happy to help!

A5 when I was an ag teacher we always did an unit on milk-had students blind taste different types of milk ( non, low whole fat, chocolate, buttermilk kefir milk, etc&we needed to rinse our palettes w/a cookie. Met all kinds of Ag standards and we had milk and cookies! #cuechat
Super! Bring in AAA Tour Books and they can "plan" a family vacation with @MSExcel or #GoogleSheets. #CUEChat (Also might help them appreciate their parents a bit more when they see the costs!)
Idea came because my printer wouldn’t work for “Thanksgiving Dinner” activity- so we did a spreadsheet. About half the class wasn’t ready. #failforward#cuechat

I wouldn't mind learning OneNote either, but I do love it when I'm in a meeting and I say I'll do something, & then one of my partners comments, tags me, & assigns me the task on a shared Google Doc. Then my phone dings with the reminder. Forgetting is not an option! #cuechat

A6 I would give kids a break... no homework, no packet (as if). Give them the gift of time off. I don't want to work on my vacation...neither should they! Give them something fun to anticipate for their return in January. #cuechat
A6: I always wanted my students to know that I was going to miss them and that I would be counting down the days that we would be back together! Letting them know that they are loved and that someone believed in them! #cuechat#wearecue
A6 The knowledge that we care about them and can't wait to see them after break. Some children don't always have the happiest of homes so a few weeks without school connections could be difficult. #Cuechat
A5: In 3rd grade I use a variety of text to practice note-taking, compare/contrast, comprehension, fluency
Students are learning about cultures, traditions, other holidays while hitting grade level standards #CUEchat
A6: I want to fill my Ss with joy and hope! I gamify The Hunger Games to empower them, and demo how it is never to late to join the party--I had an S last year go form an F to a C, and 1 thins year pull an A after failing last year! #BetterTogether#CUEChat#WeAreCue
A6: I want to give them fun (smartly disguised in the form of creative, EdTech lessons) - so many of my Ss don't have the best home situations (homeless, high poverty)...so whatever I can do to bring that Christmas fun to them is what I strive for. #cuechat
Nice! I just got my 3rd graders in @tinkercad on a “whim” yesterday. Directions “Just click around and teach me what you learn”- they are obsessed! #cuechat

A6: Something to want to return to after break. Love for lit, appreciation for history, a hook for something still to come while plenty to stew on over the break. #CUECHAT
When I subbed in the early 90s, I always took a few with me in case the teacher wasn't able to leave sub plans. #CUEChat Math, geography, writing, all kinds of possibilities! #CUEchat

Completely agree! And this is what I do. I tell them if they want to read something, they can but they choose. Nothing assigned over break. We all get this time to do what we need and want so we can return fresh! #cuechat
They loved it! Had to find an attraction and a hotel plus calculate mileage or flights. This was when I was in a one computer classroom. So many more possibilities today! #cuechat
A6 I want to give them the joy of giving and helping others...we have a ‘gift giving tree’ and we host our Rotary club bike build project where we build and give to local churches/charity organizations 250 bikes! #cuechat
I had a conversation with a mother today about extending an online course her child is taking with me because he didn't work over Thanksgiving, I told her not a problem because I didn't work, in fact, I wrote a blog before about disconnecting!
