I have been starting a library for my 18 month old grandbaby since she was born. @peterhreynolds signed a few at #NCTE Convention when we were in Houston. Can't wait for Christmas.

This school district will start small so that we can get the message about classroom libraries out to the community. Who knows, maybe parents will donate books. #NYEDChat
A2: I recently started a book advent calendar! We open a new picture book every night and read it as a family. Great way to savour each one vs opening them all on Christmas morning! #NYEDchat

We always curled up after dinner and pulled out our own books to read. Quiet time for reading - it was the ONLY quiet time that ever occurred in Howard house (and I recall the quiet AND noise with great affection). #NYEDchat#G2Great

I always read Hanukkah books in my reading room and then went on to read Christmas stories, Santa Stories and other books to make it an eclectic reading room all decorated for the season #NYEDChat
A 3 Spend time together in book stores browsing, buying must haves, and talking about books we finished. With all the hustle and bustle, set aside quiet time for reading. #NYEDChat
I participated in the angel tree at work where we sponsor a child to buy Christmas gifts for- I was sure to cram a good stack of novels and picture books alike in next to the drone toy for the 12 year old whose name I recurved! #NYEDChat

James chiming in from South Texas...A2: We always gathered early Christmas morning to read about Christ's birth from the Bible...each kid would have his turn with a few scriptures...love that tradition! #NYEDChat
My aunt gave me this for my 6th birthday. We were big Richard Scarry fans in my family. I still have this copy in my Kindergarten classroom. 😊
Did my aunt know I’d be a teacher one day? Or did she help make it happen?

Books help my heart & kind grow. This helps my children ( Ss& the ones I birthed) books elevate our human spirits & help us to connect with our souls...even the fun trivial books ! #NYEDchat

A2 What a beautiful holiday tradition, James. We usually go to church on Christmas morning but when the children were little we went on Christmas Eve. Then we came home to dinner, Christmas PJs for all. When everyone was settled we read a book or two. #NYEDChat

My best memory from last holiday season was when Chris Van Allsburg stopped by my book shop in @dedhamsquare Massachusetts - as he stepped through the door it’s a beautiful first snow began to fall! It was a polar express miracle! #NYEDChat

What you said made me think of my poet/children's author friend @MattForrestVW who wrote a book that is a hit with children: Flashnight Night. I will send out the image in the next tweet. #NYEDChat
@cvarsalona Sorry to have missed #NYEDChat Going to check tweets. Subbed in 3rd grade and my heart soared with happiness seeing these kids open books that they chose and shared with each other. Book reading time is every/anytime!
Gosh my friend's kids would enjoy having you in the family! My aunty always sends notebooks. Ever so cute ones from UK. Black pages are my favourite.
