A1: Leadership kindness means someone who leads with a humble and kind heart. They lead with good intentions and take time to listen to those around them. #engagechat

Thanks for introducing yourself! So happy it's Friday and delighted to be spending this hour with all of you!
Please consider LEADERSHIP KINDNESS. Here's Q1...
#engagechat
A1: leadership kindness is a new term to me...my gut says itโs how we present kindness in the role of a leader position, itโs seeing others as equals and respecting them for what their abilities are rather than dictating them from an overpowering position #engagechat
A1: showing hospitality and demonstrating gratitude to the Ts who lead our Ss and provide the quality education that prepares them for the future. #engagechat
A1 Leadership kindness means to lead with your heart.
Leading from the heart will change you but more importantly influence those around you. #EngageChat
A1: Inspiring and influencing others with compassion and empathy. Seeking to discover the strengths of others and serving as a capacity builder for the team. #engagechat
A1 Leadership kindness to me means leading from a lens where a thriving wellbeing for all you lead matters. How people currently experience life matters, And when a leader is kind you assume the best about people and seek to understand their current circumstance. #Engagechat
A1 is not asking anyone to do something you wouldnโt do yourself and remembering to treat otherโs the way you would like to be treated. #engagechat
A1) #Leadership kindness is the ability to lead with grace, empathy, and empowerment. Not allowing your position or the system to overcompensate for the human condition. #engagechat
A1: Being real, being you, being there for other people. You have to enjoy your people more than you enjoy your job to love your job. Not sure if that makes sense, but it's how I feel. #engagechat
Thanks for introducing yourself! So happy it's Friday and delighted to be spending this hour with all of you!
Please consider LEADERSHIP KINDNESS. Here's Q1...
#engagechat
A1. Leadership kindness means that a leader can share kindness with others, with positivity, graciousness, thankfulness, and still lead the way with others giving them opportunities to shine and lead as well! #engagechat
A1: Let me quote my favorite lady @BreneBrown. โKind is clear.โ As a leader it is very important that I am clear with my teams and that when I do it I lead with love, vulnerability and sincerity. Kindness comes in many forms but clarity makes a big difference. #engagechat
A1: A kind leader shows sensitivity, compassion, empathy in his or her words and actions. Doesn't tear people down but always trying to lift people up. #engagechat
A1: Loving your teachers the way you expect them to love their students. Treating them with compassion, understanding, forgiveness, empathy, and - well - kindness. Listening, encouraging, & supporting. #engagechat
A1: It is much easier to trust a leader who demonstrates kindness. It's also easier for real relationships among staff to grow in a culture of kindness. #engagechat
Thanks for introducing yourself! So happy it's Friday and delighted to be spending this hour with all of you!
Please consider LEADERSHIP KINDNESS. Here's Q1...
#engagechat
A1 leadership kindness needs understanding - understanding where our students are coming from and what they need and where our teachers are coming from and what they need #EngageChat
A1. Leadership Kindness to me means Empowerment and Enabling Equity. Through empowering those we lead and enabling everyone on the team with the same tools can we create the most diverse and sustainable result. #engagechat
Thanks for introducing yourself! So happy it's Friday and delighted to be spending this hour with all of you!
Please consider LEADERSHIP KINDNESS. Here's Q1...
#engagechat
A1
Leadership kindness means being a servant leader.
You lead with compassion. You are genuine.
You act with integrity.
You build relationships and TRULY see and hear those you lead.
Leadership kindness means you strive to empower othersโnot to control them.
#engagechat
A1) Leadership kindness is seeing the best in others and making sure your ability to serve will help others see the potential they have inside of themselves. #engagechat
A1 Leaders have responsibility but Leadership Kindness means those leaders always remember they are leading โpeopleโ and that responsibility comes first! #engagechat
A1 We are quick to react instead of being proactive. Working (sometimes struggling) to go against negativity. I don't always win and have been not so kind to others... I am learning. #engagechat
A1) Leadership kindness has to have an element that demonstrates that just because I have the title, you will still value the thoughts, words, and actions of others. #engagechat
Kindness is a divine quality that's essential in our interactions with others (not just those we like). It often touches and speaks to the heart much more than words can. #engagechat
Leadership #kindness means engaging in a relationship complete with trust, empathy, compassion and love. It means putting othersโ needs before yours to serve and help them grow. #engagechat
A1: Let me quote my favorite lady @BreneBrown. โKind is clear.โ As a leader it is very important that I am clear with my teams and that when I do it I lead with love, vulnerability and sincerity. Kindness comes in many forms but clarity makes a big difference. #engagechat
Leadership #kindness means engaging in a relationship complete with trust, empathy, compassion and love. It means putting othersโ needs before yours to serve and help them grow. #engagechat
Valuing others is key in leadership roles. Everyone wants to feel appreciated, and our schools will never truly be successful unless we make this a priority. #EngageChat
Leadership kindness is helping our students become leaders while teaching them kindness because that's what motivates them to do everything. #engagechat
A1) Inspire those you lead. Help them gain confidence, be honest, mentor them, give constructive feedback, coach them toward success. In other words, be kind. #EngageChat
A2. Kindness has momentum. Kindness creates a world where others and ourselves WANT to be kind. Modeling kindness, empathy, patience, and love empowers others to do the same. #engagechat
A2: Modeling to Ts allow for them to see ways to model to Ss. As well, it is a morale booster for Ts when they are treated kindly. I utilize strategies with my Ts as a way to hope they engage their Ss and build relationships. #engagechat
A2: Kindness is a very conceptual idea.I think because of that itโs of vital importance to model ways to be kind. Itโs not in our tv shows and video games and tv ads anymore so itโs up to us to model what it looks like day in and day out..and create a butterfly effect #engagechat
A2: if you are a leader it is your responsibility to show kindness. You would want the people who look up to you to follow in your footsteps of KINDNESS. And if you always lead with kindness others will reciprocate the feelings you give. #engagechat
A2 You show others a light. It helps change situations, people, schools. Overtime it multiplies.
I have seen families completely change because they became the light too.
#engagechat
A2 Students watch every move we make!
Children are awesome imitators!
Letโs be kind to one another and watch them imitate us in a positive light!
#engagechat
A2 Staff, students and parents see the organization in the portrait the leader presents. The words and actions of a kind leader tell them the school -- and most importantly, each student -- is in good hands. #EngageChat
A2: Many reasons. It contributes to a strong culture, supports core values, promotes student and adult efficacy... but most importantly, itโs about being human. #engagechat
A2) You have to give out what you want to get back. Model what you want to see. Donโt expect others to do what you wonโt. Lead by example. #EngageChat
A2 Exemplifying authentic kindness is a precursor to trust. Trust is always created in small moments. Without trust, there is no vulnerability or courage. These are all key elements to serving staff, students, and parents. #Engagechat
A2. Modeling is contagious!
We are what we honor!!
If we honor kindness & mutual respect in our schools and model it in our daily lives it will help shift culture in a positive direction. #engagechat
A2: Trust is something which a leader can build with #kindness. A team that trusts their leader will follow them and will create something amazing together. Being kind and humble will also bring the team more together and will strengthen it as well. #engagechat#teambuilding
A2: if you are a leader it is your responsibility to show kindness. You would want the people who look up to you to follow in your footsteps of KINDNESS. And if you always lead with kindness others will reciprocate the feelings you give. #engagechat
A2. Leaders--which can include anyone on a school campus--should model kindness to all stakeholders because it sets the tone and culture of the school. Kind school cultures are amazing! #engagechat
A2: We set the bar. We need to build empathy and we do that through showing kindness. Practicing gratitude, giving positive and specific affirmations, forgiveness and being kind to ourselves is a great way to start showing kindness for all. #engagechat
A2: With all the crap and jazz in the world today, if we don't do our best to teach the future generations, what will our world come to? They model what they are exposed to. #engagechat
A2 Exemplifying authentic kindness is a precursor to trust. Trust is always created in small moments. Without trust, there is no vulnerability or courage. These are all key elements to serving staff, students, and parents. #Engagechat
A2: As leaders, the staff, Ss and parents look to you as a role model, as an inspiration. If you are unkind in your words and actions, you make these people lose faith in your leadership and whatever you stand for in education. If you are kind, you create the culture. #engagechat
A2: Because it is important to build relationships, create a positive professional learning community, develop trust among one another, and promote an environment where we are all in "it" together - working toward a future of hope and promise for our students. #engagechat
A2: It is important to display kindness to all those you interact with it. It builds a kind community that welcomes peoples thoughts, ideas, and allows those to speak their minds around. It shows respect and love for others. #engagechat
A2 trust needs to be felt in order for ss, teachers and parents to feel safe to take risks. Kindness looks like and sounds like encouraging words, empathy and a soft place to fall. #engagechat
I love it! You can take the free version and see what color you are, the paid version gives you the other percentages. Great to do with faculty and staff! https://t.co/3MM7JDZNkH#engagechat
A2 Leading with kindness to staff, students, and parents is the way we connect and create authentic relationships. Relationships are at the core of leading, teaching, and learning. #Engagechat
A2:
A school's culture trickles down from its leadership. If we want a culture of kindness (and we do!), school leaders must model kindness to all.
Perhaps most importantly, their kindness must be genuine.
#engagechat
A2: Modeling expected behavior is important at all levels. If we want Ss to be kind, we need to be kind to one another as well. Top down, it must happen. #engagechat
A2: School leaders must model kindness, and make Ts feel valued, respected, appreciated, and trusted to do what is best for their Ss. The happier and more appreciated Ts are, the more successful our schools and Ss will become! #engagechat
The great thing about kindness is that it doesn't depend on our abilities or physical strength. As leaders, it also keeps us from overlooking the needs of others. #engagechat
A2. Leaders--which can include anyone on a school campus--should model kindness to all stakeholders because it sets the tone and culture of the school. Kind school cultures are amazing! #engagechat
A2) Modeling kindness creates a culture of support that is devoid of isolation. The message is sent that you are not alone and that I care about you. #engagechat
A2: Leaders influence others. And what a leader chooses to model will spread. A leader who models kindness creates a culture among staff, students, and parents where kindness can grow so others can do the same. #engagechat
A2. We all need to be welcoming and create a culture which is wecoming to all People, and stakeholders! Leadership is important to model and share! #engagechat
I doesn't matter if someone is older and younger, it's all about being kind and learning from others. Because everyday there is something new that we learn. #engagechat
A3: I'm going out on a limb here, and I'm going to say apathy. If there is leadership who flat out doesn't care about their students, staff and the building, then everyone is doomed. #engagechat
A3. Autocracy and dictatorship. A leadership style that doesn't lead but demands. Doesn't empower but subjugates. Is not kind but cruel. #engagechat#HumanRights
Well opposite of leadership is following someone without an intent to want to lead in the future and opposite of kindness may be rudeness or hostility. So maybe just put those together ๐#engagechat
A3 The opposite of kindness is indifference. Caring first and foremost about self. And in the case of leadership, caring more about title, power, authority. #Engagechat
A3 The opposite of leadership kindness is leadership arrogance. The leader is always right, regardless of consequences and damage to others. #EngageChat
A3 The opposite of leadership kindness is someone who focuses on being right instead of being that someone who is going to be right there for Ss and staff.
#engagechat
A3. Leadership clickiness and closed door school- Where P and stakeholders don't feel welcome! Clicky school to fit into! My way or the highway! No visitors welcome, but we'll take your money!#engagechat
A3: The opposite is a โmy way or the highwayโ mindset or โeverybody is replaceableโ mentality. It is NOT a climateor culture conducive to compassion or growth. #engagechat
A3: I'm going out on a limb here, and I'm going to say apathy. If there is leadership who flat out doesn't care about their students, staff and the building, then everyone is doomed. #engagechat
A3: Leading with cruelty, disrespect, and also unnecessary anger. Disempowering your staff and making them feel stupid or unable to act without your direct supervision. Reacting with anger or impatience to requests from parents or students. #engagechat
A3: Control. @Mrs_Gilchrist said it best... "Leadership kindness means you strive to empower othersโnot to control them." If you don't trust and respect others, how can you expect to lead them? #engagechat
A3 In extreme cases, the opposite of kindness can be hostility, intolerance, harshness. Leaders who just want others to follow orders. In this case, you not only impede success and achievement but you can force others to live counter to their values to survive. #Engagechat
A3: A leader who lacks kindness shows it in the way he or she speaks and acts with arrogance and treats others with disdain. Lacking compassion, this leader fails to empathise, understand and love others. #engagechat
A3: Control. @Mrs_Gilchrist said it best... "Leadership kindness means you strive to empower othersโnot to control them." If you don't trust and respect others, how can you expect to lead them? #engagechat
A3:
The opposite of leadership kindness is seeking to "lead" from a place of control.
You have a desire for compliance, rather than empowerment.
You lead with a harsh rule, chalking it up to "equality"โrather than seeing uniqueness in all & leading for justice.
#engagechat
A3. An absence of kindness is the entering of uncomforted pain, struggle, and fear. Kindness is the seedbed from which strong, sustained growth can occur, but if that seedbed is poisoned the fruits will be ugly and devastating for students and teachers alike. #engagechat
A3: Being unclear, lacking commitment but expecting it from others, lacking integrity, not willing to own your behaviors or your role. All of the above are unkind. #engagechat
A true leadership kindness helps everyone build and engage into becoming great leaders, while the opposite doesn't really share and build the leadership with anyone. #engagechat
A4: When kindness is happening regularly in a school you are meeting a basic human need that all people have to be paid attention to and appreciated. This will have a guaranteed impact on your school culture. #engagechat
A1: leadership kindness to me means to take others into consideration when put into a position of โpower.โ You should lead others through kindness! #engagechat
So true, Chris! ๐๐๐ Too often, many try to apply a blanket "rule" to allโbut we are all unique. We must stay focused on what is just, act with integrity, and truly show how much we value others. #engagechat
and with a strong relationship, you can also start lifting up your staff to greater and bigger things. Empower the student and ensure parents with trust that you will be a good role model and leader to their children. #engagechat
A4. Children around the world really are very similar. Demonstrating acts of kindness creates an environment where whoever the child is, wherever they are from, and however they identify, feels welcome and empowered to shape a better world. #engagechat#empowerment#children
and with a strong relationship, you can also start lifting up your staff to greater and bigger things. Empower the student and ensure parents with trust that you will be a good role model and leader to their children. #engagechat
A4: It can bring love and vibrance into the school environment. In turn create a place of safe haven for students to grow and experience an environment of kindness where love springs. #engagechat
A4 When leaders use wellbeing as a condition for a thriving school, stakeholders, staff, students, and parents, live out their strengths in a positive, healthy way, stay true to their values, and achieve measurable goals and outcomes. Wellbeing matters! #Engagechat
A4. It can help create leaders in Ss sharing kindness towards others! It can also create a more positive culture within a school, where people are considerate, and thought of first! #engagechat
A4: Acts Of kindness that dominates school culture can have a tremendous impact on Ss. If the feel safe in their environment, learning soars. Kindness goes a long way toward making sure Ss feel safe. #engagechat
A4: If part of the schoolโs core values and taught correctly, acts of kindness can prompt the entire school community to put others before themselves. Service and humility become pillars. #engagechat
A4. It shines through the little daily things: good manners, daily smiles, & just the general atmosphere of the school. It makes students, their families, the faculty, and staff want to be there. #engagechat
A4: Teacher & student morale is up, everyone looks forward to coming to school, teachers are more willing to take risks & try new things, more collaboration/less seclusion, positive chatter instead of negative gossip, fewer discipline referrals (esp. for bullying). #engagechat
A4. Kindness is a catalyst for positive change! It has been echoed on the chat that kindness is contagious! Being kind requires us as leaders to be vulnerable with our heart and spirit. Positive change in our schools and communities must start with kindness! #engagechat
A4: It can bring love and vibrance into the school environment. In turn create a place of safe haven for students to grow and experience an environment of kindness where love springs. #engagechat
A4: It can unite a school from separate ages grades roles and positions to one family that supports and lifts each other up in the good times and the bad. Kindness is the glue that ties us to each other as we are all one humanKIND #engagechat
A4: By being part of a caring community, students learn morality by living it. They receive respect and care and practice giving it in return. Respect and care gradually become habits -- part of their character. #engagechat
A4 it turns a job into a place where you want to go. It's very rare to love going to work but I do because of caring, fun and work colleagues and Ss #engagechat
A4:
Acts of kindness impact a school's culture because they are what CREATE a school's culture of kindness.
Culture is built through actions, thoughts, and words.
Kindness begets kindness.
#engagechat
A4 One act of kindness leads leads to another, even more so if it emanates from the top. Everyone is a player while the leaders set the tone. #EngageChat
A4: "It only takes a spark to get a fire going. And soon all those around, can warm up in its glowing.." Acts of kindness lift up others and empower them to pay it forward too. It creates a ripple that can extend well beyond the school. The world needs more kindness. #engagechat
A4. A school culture focused on kindness will yield positive results in all aspects of the school.
When we lift others up with kindness, we will raise our test scores but more importantly...we will raise productive citizens! #engagechat
A4: One of the highest leverage acts of kindness adults and students can engage in to show kindness and create a positive school culture is to greet each other at the doors each morning and passing periods. #engagechat
A4: The first thing that comes to mind is practicing gratitude daily. You cannot have joy without it and if we make it a daily practice it will catch on with staff and students. #engagechat
A4 Using the five elements of a thriving wellbeing in an intentional way to connect with staff, students, and parents create authentic relationships and allow leaders to gain insight into performance. #Engagechat
A4:
Acts of kindness impact a school's culture because they are what CREATE a school's culture of kindness.
Culture is built through actions, thoughts, and words.
Kindness begets kindness.
#engagechat
A4: A school culture steeped in kindness means students and staff treat one another with dignity and mutual respect. It becomes the norm that we do not tolerate disrespect and unkind acts in other forms, including bullying. #engagechat
A4: When school cultures are build around trust, respect, appreciation and support...our schools are setup to allow teachers to take risks, get students engaged and excited about learning, and putting students on a path to success. #engagechat
A2: It is important for leaders to model kindness because it reinforces the behaviors that are expected from everyone in the organization. It is a top down effect which starts with the principals, flows to the teachers and staff, and ultimately falls on the students. #engagechat
Yes! Students must see it genuinely rehearsed with the adults in the building. Gone are the days of โdo what I sayโ. We need more โdo as I doโ. #engagechat
A4 A performance success formula based in kindness includes: strengths understanding and development of self and others + a thriving wellbeing + emotional engagement in work = maximized performance #Engagechat
A4: Acts of kindness is the foundation of a healthy school culture. It allows for growth in ways that draw people in. It inspires, it builds, and more often than not, it smothers the negativity that thrives in an unhealthy school culture. #engagechat
A4 kindness is like the light from a candle. If I share my light with you it doesnโt extinguish my light, in fact all of our lights shine brighter when we share. #EngageChat
We should always look for opportunities to be kind (ie. lending a helping hand, letting someone go ahead of us in line, a thoughtful gift, etc.) It can mean so much, warm hearts, and transcend language barriers. #engagechat
I have held the door for numerous people! Kidding but I find many ways to help people with small things like if they need materials or anything I can provide Iโm happy to help my peers! I did cook for my sister today because I found out she was pregnant! #engagechat
A5: I love to leave notes of appreciation for my Ts at random times when things are getting rough and I see a dip in morale. Itโs also a booster after breaks. #engagechat
A3: The opposite of leadership kindness is leading with no empathy and respect for others. This cultivates a negative environment which ultimately holds an organization back from reaching its mission. #engagechat
A5. Putting aside a personal dream in direct activism for the sake of family and the desire to show how important family is to me. Tears of joy told me that was the right approach in the end :-). #EngageChat
A5) I shared with someone that one moment will never define you. In our quest for perfection we lose sight of the impact of the lives we touch. #engagechat
A5: First day of school, visited a school that didnโt have cafeteria staff. I jumped right in. Told the principal to โslide over...give me some glovesโ. It felt good to be in the position to serve students. #engagechat
A5:
Adding an "appreciation, apology, aha" circle to our homeroom time in G6. This has led to many incredible appreciations for one anotherโand powerful realizations, too.
#engagechat
A5: First day of school, visited a school that didnโt have cafeteria staff. I jumped right in. Told the principal to โslide over...give me some glovesโ. It felt good to be in the position to serve students. #engagechat
A5: Writing notes of gratitude. You never know what someone might be going through but when you take the time to say thank you, you spread kindness, one note at a time. #engagechat
A4: itโs cultivates a culture that reciprocates kindness to others. Everyone involved is empowered to play their role in the mission at hand. #engagechat
A5: I love to speak words of live over people. I have been reading with a student for one of my classes and I always leave that student with words of encouragement. Everyone needs encouragement. Words of life build up people full of life, ready to give back. #engagechat
A5. Assisting others when they need help in an emergency or that they are having a bad day! Doing something special for someone for no reason at all! #engagechat
A5: At a conference, a presenter came into the keynote hall frantic because the prizes for her session were mistakenly placed on chairs for Ts during the keynote. I helped her hater them up & got others to help before the main crowd arrived. #engagechat
Just yesterday my Ss and I surprised our class aide with a video of them all saying why they loved her so much. She was so moved and they got to see how lovely it feels to do something nice for someone. #engagechat
A5. In our district besides being the Ag Teacher, I'm also a school bus driver. ๐ On the bus I have a young student who loves the outdoors. We chat about the different national parks. I started giving him all my old @BackpackerMag. He's absolutely loved them! #engagechat
A5: #Volunteering is for me a great way of giving something back to the community and also showing kindness to people or pets or the environment. I worked at the @BGCyvr and engaged in the afternoon programme for children & teenagers to give them the tools to succeed. #engagechat
A5 I travel often for work. When I am at an airport restaurant and I see a table of uniformed soldiers I will ask the waitress to bring me their check, not to tell them who paid their bill and to thank them for their service. I learned this from a good friend. #Engagechat
Sincere thanks for your incredible participation tonight! This has truly been an honour and a pleasure for me to serve as your guest moderator! Happy weekend! #engagechat
A5: I had a birthday party for a kiddo of ours who is without residence right now. Iโve had every one of his siblings and he has a very special place in my heart. #engagechat
Still would have been a prettyy amazing suprise for attendees! You were so kind for assisting with the collection and for alleviating stress! #engagechat
Jut wanted to put in a plug for #30daysofgratitude ... We all have so much we are grateful for, so please join the many people who are tweeting words of gratitude through the month of November! #engagechat#gratefuledu
A5: Just one? I've paid for a person's groceries at the store, I've contributed to several donor's choose projects, I've sat with crying students, I've given food to families of poverty, I've taken a sick teacher's class, I've listened.... #engagechat
This was actually really fun! It was my first time participating in any educational Twitter chat! Thank you everyone for reminding me to always be kind and to help others in anyway! #engagechat
Such an important topic to chat about tonight. Be kind to each other. The world needs more of it. Have a great evening. Thank you @ChrisQuinn64
I appreciate you. #Engagechat
Thanks so much Chris! You were a wonderful facilitator and I am thoroughly looking forward to meeting you in the Twitterverse in the future. Until then, I wish you all the kindness in the world :-). #engagechat
A5: I volunteer with a non-profit that does affordable heart screenings that allow these students to participate in their activities with peace of mind. To me, helping others is the ultimate act of kindness. #engagechat
A5: It starts with relationships and being there for my staff.
- Providing Pay Day Cookies
- Picking up lunch on Eat Out Fridays
- Telling my staff and students that I love them daily.
- Providing โJean Dayโsโ when I think they are needed.
