Join us for our district's monthly twitter chat focusing on "Integrating the Arts" on February 1st from 7-8 pm. Come and chat about how to integrate music, art, and other specialized areas into your classroom to build learning across the content areas!
A1) flipped part of our conference session today so we could reach more teachers right where they were at - great for providing learner-centered instruction #ncties18#tamingtwitter#ccsedchat
A1: A "flipped" classroom is one where learning takes place outside of the classroom, where Ts can then use in-school time for continued facilitating. #CCSEdChat
A2) build content knowledge and allow students to come to class wit prior knowledge so that they can collaborate, create, think critically, and work on communication skills in class #ccsedchat
A3) For one thing, they are receiving the instruction in a 1:1 format. They can pause, rewind, reflect. This makes a difference. I think it helps students to stay tuned in. #ccsedchat
A3 I love using @edpuzzle to flip lessons. Ss can review them later, too! Flipped gives them a resource to use at any time that they need it. #CCSEdChat

Yes Yes Yes - Limiting the interruptions is such a great benefit. The lesson or presentation of material can flow uninterrupted! Great point! #CCSEdChat
A4: So, some of the students are working on their task. A few of my students maybe watching the flipped lesson. I would be monitoring and answering questions as needed. #CCSEdChat
A5: I use my Elmo to make videos. I then upload them to my YouTube channel. I either post them to @edmodo or just tell my kids to find my YouTube directly. #CCSEdChat
A6 Sometimes I feel like controversial topics need some whole group guidance. Teaching 8th grade Social Studies brings up some of these issues. #CCSEdChat
A6: For my choir, I flip teaching choreography because I need to maximize my time teaching the music. For my general classes, I would flip music vocabulary or composer information. #CCSEdChat
A6) A flipped lesson can still be interactive. Something intervenes for the teacher. This could be a video, article, website, or any number of content related pieces. Students receive instruction and can interact with the material presented. #ccsedchat
These are fantastic ideas! I think it can be tricky for art and music teachers to identify ways to maximize the limited time with their Ss. Kudos to you! #ccsedchat
A6: I think flipped lessons can look different based on resources available and students. Sometimes it may simply be a video that gets pushed out to students the day before you dig deeper into the content #CCSEdChat
A7) Sorry - never saw this ? come across my feed. Had to go to your profile to find it but... Ss accountability can be as simple as Tchr observation as Ss complete a follow up task in class. If they completed the flipped task they should be able to be successful. #ccsedchat
A8) It does not replace the teacher. The teacher is still preparing the material and determining the delivery mode. In fact, the teacher takes on an even more important role of really connecting with the Ss and meeting their needs! #ccsedchat
#ccsedchat It enhances instruction so that Ss can continue their learning and/or review what they need to know whenever they want. It allows the T to have greater time with individual or small groups of students!
