I’m Mitchel, a secondary ELA teacher from Northwestern PA and Apple Distinguished Educator in the class of 2017! #BestClassEver Recently, my school was named an Apple Distinguished School! Welcome to the chat, everyone! #ADEChat

Rick Roth from Pittsburgh, Pa. Glad to be part of the ADE chat. We love using Clips at our school to create motivating videos to reward our kids and update our parents. #ADEChat
I watch from the sidelines. More of a cheerleader for my students. Going to use iPad and @PadCastApp to film it for those parents unable to attend. #ADEchat
Social media is a powerful tool. It can take some time to get teaches and admins on board, but it is the best way to tell your District's story! #adechat
Vicki, teacher in Pittsburgh, PA. Happy to be here! I’m proud to be part of a 1:1 iPad school. Lots of applications in middle school English class. #ADEchat
A1- Twitter to share pictures, videos and quotes from the kiddos! My digital learning team also showcases work we have done with teachers in our Catching Creativity newsletters (Adobe Spark)
#adechat
A1: My Favorite sharing is from my global #twima community. #twima7 will be released soon. It’s a global ebook. The world is my community. To share...we write books. #adechat
A1: our school’s multi touch book clearly shares our story with the community. We’ve also done other in class projects. #ADEChathttps://t.co/kZUZufQ92K
A1: Social media, esp. Twitter & Facebook. We've had so many admins and teachers begin to embrace social media this year. Just one example from today - #ADEChat
A1) Have a blog for my learning environ & Twitter account. Effectively? Families know it is there. Young adults can share their learning artifacts at home too. #ADEChat
A1: My school & community uses YouTube & shorter Clips videos to spread news about what is occurring on a daily basis and long-term project updates and initiatives https://t.co/wCKaeVfq58#ADEChat

Tanya from Fraser, MI. Twitter is without a doubt my favorite way to show what my students are doing. Our district uses our own hashtag so we are searchable and can share our stories. #ADEchat
I'm doing a project with 3rd graders this week where they are putting together a Clips video with all the photos and videos from a chain reaction experiment. They are loving all the posters and labels they can add. #ADEchat
A1: My biggest tools that I use to share are my social media accounts including @Twitter, @instagram, and @facebook. I love using @AppleEDU Clips to create videos for some of the awesome things my students are doing. #ADEChat
A1: our school’s multi touch book clearly shares our story with the community. We’ve also done other in class projects. #ADEChathttps://t.co/kZUZufQ92K
Joining a little late. Cindy from Waukee, IA. A1: our district launched the year with the message #givelove Essentially have a positive voice and use it for good. Many many Ss and Ts have continued this message through the stories they share in the community #ADEchat
A1: Hi #adechat! Casey here, sorry to jump in a few minutes late. I have used iBooks Author for Ss to create stories about the community and publish in the iBooks store. Checkout a book my former Ss wrote w @OperaPhila: https://t.co/6sr4gVMyTU
A1: For our school we use film to build and create community. My students created an excellent documentary on how film helps to tell their stories. Check out “Behind The Scenes: Pave Film Season Two” https://t.co/SWgLrWqXNR#ADEChat
A1: Twitter is without a doubt my favorite way to show what my students are doing. Our district uses our own hashtag so we are searchable and can share our stories. #ADEchat
We share our school story on iTunes. Every teacher in my school submitted something to the book. We used iBooks Author to put our story together. https://t.co/Rmh4pROCTV#ADEChat
I love using iBooks Author! Having multiple students contribute to one big work creates a bonding experience while Ss learn about the art of digital storytelling and the technical aspects of the tool. #adechat
A2 - The most important aspect of a story is the HUMAN part. We touch others with our humanity. No one is perfect and we are all in some type of quest to become. It is our humanity that connects us. #adechat
A2: taking the time to focus on the process of telling a good story with depth and emotion and voice. The details in the process are important #ADEchat
A2: perhaps the actual structure of compelling stories... we use the story spine as a tool for writing all the time, but students often struggle with selecting which story to tell and even sometime, what the story itself is. #ADEchat

I have to give huge props to my super @DrDaveFPS and principal @HustonLJulian who not only allow professional tweeting but encourage it. Twitter has done worlds for my #PLN. #ADEchat

A1: My team leader uses Apple Clips to keep parents connected with what is happening on our team. They love something more interesting than just an email. #ADEchat
Yes, definitely concerns. And we’ve only just started to use the tool, but we have had a good response from the community, and were being pretty selective with which “events” are stream-worthy. #adechat
A2: The key is purpose. Why are they sharing a story? I worked with @VTruchan and students to bridge age/community gaps. Their product: https://t.co/vAvIY9fWF8#ADEChat
Yes! The best part of the tool is how it allows for all different types of media to work together to tell the story, and it becomes clickable and interactive for the audience. #adechat
I haven’t read this post but I agree. Three days after iBooks Author was introduced, my students published a book. It made all the difference to them. #ADEchat It’s still the story I share everywhere. #MyPassion

A1: I use Clips to share what our Ss are up to on a daily basis! :) The parents love it and it has helped their classroom Ts keep up-to-date with what's up in art! I also use time-lapse to show the process! :) We primarily use Facebook to keep families in the loop! #ADEchat
I share my work (and struggles) with them a lot. I also acknowledge how I’m trying to improve with whatever. I think it helps to build in front of and with students. #cocreators#ADEchat
They can see through you like glass. I find my best lessons are ones that I am giving my all in. The students respond to passion not a puppet.. Good point Jon #ADEChat

A3- I enjoy story core and I think if communities had some type of place where people could share their stories uninhibited, it would create an even greater sense of community! I'd love to have a Confession Cam (like the Bachelor or ANTM) at our school #ADEChat
A2: Feeling comfortable! Ss must feel safe to take the risk of sharing their story, esp. when it's personal. It's important to give them some structure & allow for peer review/edit so they're confident with the results - that way they'll continue taking ed. risks! :) #ADEChat
Room changes based on purpose rarely happen from what I see. We are working on it but we have a long way to go. I love the idea of fluidity in the classroom. #adechat
A3: Some might not have the video or tech resources to not only archive their story, but, to get it to audiences that will long outlive them. Schools do. Students do. Use the opportunity to serve that purpose! #ADEChat
A3: A couple years ago my students created a multitouch book and content for visitors to the zoo. Great to see the process of purposeful research and the perspective voice that young learners give #ADEchat
A3: Opportunities for the community to participate in lessons, discussions, projects, curriculum development, etc. People like to give meaningful input and see their ideas come to life. #ADEchat
So true! Even in art, it's way more about the process & Ss perseverance than it is about the final piece they put on the refrigerator! That's one of the biggest reasons I share time-lapse and clips of work in progress - so Ss understand the importance of the journey! #ADEchat
I agree Jeanne. I also find that for some this can also be the scariest step, trusting in the voices of the students. I think this is what helped so many of us to become ADEs #ADEchat
I am working on having a gathering spot for the direct teaching and then having different stations around the room for students to go to that best complete whatever task they are working on. Choice, of course. It's a work in progress. #ADEChat
A1: Jodie from Texas and I’m very late 😃 my 7th graders shared our community efforts of how we addressed the global goals using iBA #ADEChathttps://t.co/08YO59LGJt
A3: It's very Hamiltonian, but, Ss can share the stories of the "older" generations that may see the myth of them as being disengaged, disinterested, and disconnected: https://t.co/dnIUryogTJ#adechat
Same with some kids. Our district is embracing it more the more we use it. I also want teachers to use FlipGrid as a place for students to rate lessons. #ToughSell I have a QR code on my door for ratings of my help. #adechat
@Clipspiration is a fantastic resource for teachers. Not only are there great resources, there are a ton of suggestions that will help to build community. #ADEChat
Too often we only reflect on lessons we are evaluated on. 99% of the time those lessons are staged. Having kids provide daily lesson feedback is more honest, raw, and meaningful. #adechat
A4: @NorthHillsMS under the leadership of @LiebermanD just joined the APple Distinguished Schools community; I'm excited to see where this leads and the stories we can discover as a result. Here's ours: https://t.co/wCKaeVfq58#adechat
A4: The @AlleghenyIU3 & @cntr4creativity are a great community b/c they provide Ts & Admins w/ PD and opportunities to try new tech in the classroom. A game changer for our Elementary STEAM program. #adechat
A4: I volunteer for a teen & preteen youth program at our church. Love that it brings students from rival schools together & they build connections/work together for good #ADEchat
A4- Being a part of twitterverse has transformed my teaching. The ADE community has also had a massive impact on my teaching. There are so many amazing people with amazing ideas to share! #ADEchat
A4: My #ADEfam and #PLN have transformed my teaching. I learn so much from you rockstars, and I am a better teacher for it. Anyone want to share their favorite follows? #ADEchat
A3: Schools can provide an intergenerational connection to help community share their voices w/ Ss through social media, visits, etc. This gives Ss a sense of community belonging & importance. Even our youngest Ss have amazing stories to share if given the opportunity! #ADEchat
Both of these are awesome communities to be a part of! Not only offering high level PD, @AlleghenyIU3 and @cntr4creativity are always sharing their stories of community engagement and success! #ADEChat
A4: The @AlleghenyIU3 & @cntr4creativity are a great community b/c they provide Ts & Admins w/ PD and opportunities to try new tech in the classroom. A game changer for our Elementary STEAM program. #adechat
A4: @Twitter has impacted the way my school and several of our teachers share information with the world outside of our school’s walls. Collaboration and communication have greatly increased. #ADEchat
A4 - Coworkers and colleagues such as @DorothyPrieste4 and @anitalj1992 are great resources for me too. We are constantly bouncing ideas off of each other. #adechat
A4: A project we did with the League of Women Voters - brought over 130 women who make a difference into the school and interviewed them and created docudramas. Oldie but goodie! #adechathttps://t.co/Jk3WBQoRbH
A4: Our District is also part of the @ArtsEdCollab & @NMSI communities, which are improving programs for our students. So much great working going on at Keystone Oaks! #koproud#adechat
#a4 it's safe to say I never would have been a part of #ADE2017 were it not for Twitter; transformed my entire career -- from pedagogy to professional standing #adechat
A4: @Twitter has impacted the way my school and several of our teachers share information with the world outside of our school’s walls. Collaboration and communication have greatly increased. #ADEchat
A5 - We could have the students conduct interviews of community members. We’re doing a living history museum in February where community stories will be on display. #ADEChat
Honestly, when you reach out to the performers, crew, and producers they want to work with our schools. I feel so many industry people would come to classrooms, but it is just about making those initial connections. #ADEchat
We are Hamilton/Powell/Poage community; a tough-but-improving neighborhood with a big heart. Our neighbors like @gundersenhealth adopt us & provide for our Ss. This is guiding us to become a Community School-a place that supports the whole child with all their needs. #ADEchat
A4: I'm also personally grateful for my @PenSPRA1 & @NSPRA communities. I'm always learning from their experiences and glad that they are always willing to share resources! #adechat
A4: My #ADEfam and #PLN have transformed my teaching. I learn so much from you rockstars, and I am a better teacher for it. Anyone want to share their favorite follows? #ADEchat
Q5: "It is very important to teach children about the Hmong culture and experience, because that is how we can change stereotypes and prevent racism in our community." ~Callie, 7th grade student #ADEChat iTunes U Course: https://t.co/WrQUF0xGf2
A5: There is always a problem to solve. There is always a chance for collaboration. There are opportunities to use a story to highlight, uplift, or bring attention of audiences to where it should be. #adechat
a5- Its like Lin Manuel says " let me tell you what i wish I'd known when I was young and dreamed of glory... you have no control -who lives who dies who tells your story" so control your own story. Tell it! #ADEchat
A5: Give them the foundation and step back and watch them soar! If passion is there like @theipodteacher said, they’ll put forth their all to share their stories! #ADEChathttps://t.co/CzQtn8Cr9e
A5: My students create & produce a weekly podcast, interviewing local (and global) community members; getting them to share their stories/knowledge- priceless experience! #ADEchathttps://t.co/rNavHvIRE9

The students and "the women" all enjoyed the process! One of my greatest teaching accomplishments. It was a 5 year commitment, but I still miss it... sometimes. #ADEChat
A5 the more we amplify student voices as creators & makers, artists & scientists, storytellers & producers, the more opportunities come their way; many have never experienced the joy of a stranger's appreciation for your work #adechat
A6- The ADE community has taught me to be the BEST me! It’s taught me to not be afraid to fail. It’s taught me that sometimes you have to do things scared.. just keep going! It’s also taught me to do what I do with FLARE! #ADEchat
A5: Sharing stories deepens compassion in our communities. Prejudice fades as we hear each others' stories, realize our similiarities & find we're not so different after all. Ss can grow, advocate for self/others & author content to continue to express their stories #ADEChat
A6 well I've only been team ADE for a short bit, but just having Apple regional trainings in our building has given me chances to show off our students and staff; also, my friendships w @WillcottJulie@mathycathy@MiaLMorrison all grown as a result #somuchrespect#adechat
A6: Amazing people to collaborate with! Electric personalities that inspire! Chats likes these keep me thinking of new ideas. Kids benefit from it all! #ADEChat
Being a #ADE is transformative. In fact, it has inspired me to push other teachers in my district to become #AppleTeachers and ADEs. And, after this chat I miss seeing you all in person to share these amazing ideas. #adechat
A6: ADE’s are people who think no idea is impossible and who push each other to do what’s best for children in the most innovative ways. I’ve never felt more inspired than being at #ADE2017. #ADEchat
A6: Provides endless resources and ideas. Limitless learning community. Electric personalities that inspire me to be a better teacher and to share with others #ADEChat
Would you please complete the very short linked survey? UCA is considering developing a masters & post-master's degree program in digital age leading & learning. We need your opinion! #ISTE18#adechathttps://t.co/ubTM6dYVR4
Huge shout out to @nhsdwelch@StirpeCon for rocking #ADEchat tonight and rekindling the love and support in our community through stories You guys are awesome!
A4: My #ADEfam and #PLN have transformed my teaching. I learn so much from you rockstars, and I am a better teacher for it. Anyone want to share their favorite follows? #ADEchat
A6: The most amazing impact of our #ADEfam isn’t JUST the innovation and wealth of knowledge/ideas, it’s the unrelenting positivity and optimism that we WILL change the world. That is the most powerful part for me. #ADEchat
A6: The ADE community has impacted my career in amazing ways. I’ve leaned so much from my fellow apples, and they continue to inspire me every day. Also, it’s helped my school to achieve the Apple Distinguished School recognition! #ADEChat 🍎
