#ProsperISD chat open to all in and out of district teachers discussing best practices and working with students K-12. It will occur on the second Thursday of every month at 8:00pm CST.
Q1: I’m most proud of how our team is transparent when we have Ss that just aren’t there yet and when we’ve tried “everything” so we all chime in to help and give our ideas AND encouragement! #Prosper4ward
A1 This is my first year in Prosper so my first year with PLC. I am most proud of the collaboration and teamwork that was able to happen on our team. We are all equals and everyone brings something to the table. #Prosper4ward
A1: I feel like our PLC has come a long way after being together for two years. We communicate and share better. We are more open-minded to new ideas. I think I'm most proud of the fact that we are listening to kids and bringing in texts related to their interests. #Prosper4ward
A1. I am most proud of our ability to take a step back and look at the whole picture together to come up with solutions/conclusions instead of just focusing on "me me me" #prosper4ward
A1: Our team tackled the topics that can be uncomfortable to talk about head-on for the sake of our kids and their learning. Even when there were topics we didn’t agree on initially, we worked through them and all came out better educators because of it. #prosper4ward
A1 I am very proud of how my team did all unpacking and planning together. It made the expectations equal for all 2nd graders! We also got really good at it!! #Prosper4Ward
#Prosper4Ward Q1: I am most proud of the PLCs in our district because we have committed to the process and developed a culture of learning for the adults and students. Prosper ISD teachers are like magical unicorns!
A1 I am SO proud of how we have been transparent and everyone is willing to share. Input=output! We have had so many great conversations digging in deep with our essential standards. #Prosper4ward
A1- My team has grown so much this year. Our biggest accomplishment is allowing the 4 PLC questions and students’ needs to guide or instruction and decision making. I can’t wait to see what we accomplish next year for our students. #Prosper4ward

#Prosper4ward A1: Being able to be proactive in potentially "challenging" situations that arose between S's & T's. Keeping conversations positive (mostly!) and student- centered.
Sariea Haney Theatre Rogers. A1 for PLC I’ve been working to get our team working toward a common goal of vertically aligning our content so each year is a building block on the previous. #Prosper4ward
A1. I'm proud that we subscribe to the idea that students are "ours", not mine. We share responsibility for student learning and growth, support and grow each other, recognize strengths in our colleagues and see our own weaknesses as opportunities for growth. #Prosper4ward

A1:I am most proud of the intentional conversations that weren’t always fun to have but moved kids in the right direction. If the conversation wasn’t centered around student learning, we didn’t have it in our PLC. #Prosper4ward
The “open-minded to new ideas” is true with our team too! We all have so much to contribute and when we listen to each other (and trust each other) the results are powerful! #prosper4ward
A2: What a great question! Our cross-team PLC is awe-mazing at stepping in when kids need our help. We weekly meetings focus on how can we help these kids? I think I wouldn't have reached so many kids had it not been for my cross-team PLC! #Prosper4ward@RMS8WHITE
Unpacking the standards can be time consuming work, but it is so vital to moving kids further. Love that yall were dedicated to this work! #prosper4ward
A2 My biggest challenge this year was learning the Prosper way! My PLC was so important in helping support me so that I could use all the amazing resources we have to help the second graders in my classroom. #Prosper4ward
A2 I'd say the challenge of the badge program. We came into the year with the idea "the old badge program was good, but how can we go from good to great?" My teammates have really stepped up! #Prosper4ward
A2. For our team, our goal is to reach all learners. For us, learners are teachers. It took everyone coming together to think about all teachers and how we could best serve them. The result - LOTS of different opportunities to learn new ways to integrate tech! #Prosper4ward
A2- We could not have tackled defining what mastery should look like without PLC. Especially with new team members. Those conversations are critical! #Prosper4ward
This is an important question! I believe that the process and mindset behind PLC is what will help your team maintain that momentum. The resources and environment that you have created will be there even if some of the members have moved on. #Prosper4ward
#prosper4ward Excellent question and certainly a challenge we face. Your Elementary Design Coaches can support you through this process and provide the guidance you need!
A2- We shared kids during tier time to best use the talents of ALL members of our team. It made a huge difference knowing that ALL really does mean ALL with our team. #Prosper4Ward
A2: I have faced many challenges with this being my first year. From instruction, student needs, and even parent communication my team has been there to guide me every step of the way!! #prosper4ward@ruckerkinder1
Key words are listen and trust! Just bc you haven't tried that strategy before, doesn't mean it isn't awesome! Be brave and try something new! You 2 rock at trying new things! #Prosper4ward
A2 Finding the time to plan/implement a beneficial tutoring session can be hard to do, but we made a plan early on this year to tutor each other’s Ss. Ss were able to learn from a variety of teachers and experience the “all in” approach we believe in at PISD. #prosper4ward
A2 I depend on our design team PLC every single day. Their expertise, perspective, and feedback help me grow and improve every day. We are better together! #Prosper4ward

A2: For me is was truly understanding all the “how’s” in teaching 3rd AND being new to PISD. With a lot of GREAT conversations with our team on “how” we were going to teach and what the learning should look like made the transition 👌🏻! #Prosper4ward
A2: I would not have survived this year with out the different perspective of my PLC helping me to think through different interventions to reach my Ss. #Prosper4ward@Rucker4th
A2 During Musical @JoynerNatalie helped me develop different styles of teaching for show choir students while having them and theatre students. Couldn’t have done that amazing show without her! #Prosper4ward
#Prosper4ward@PISDLiT A2: our PLC members were crazy busy this year - going in 20 different directions at any given moment. Carving out time to check in and make sure we were all still on the same page about vertically aligning was soooooo helpful.
Great example of awesome minds coming together to yield amazing results! So many teachers have really been so intentional about tech integration bc of our badges! #Prosper4ward
A2 The fab 1st grade team @windsongelem addressed a wide range of reading levels which created the need for more guided reading groups than 1 teacher could effectively address. OUR kids WIN by creating GR groups that cross classroom borders. #Prosper4ward
A2: our kiddos were STRUGGLING with poetry due to their interpretations...our solution and interventions came from careful group planning in those PLC meetings/beyond (let's be honest no one PLCs just 1 day - it is an ever-present thing) #Prosper4ward
Q2 challenges are met with multiple solutions within our PLC it’s nice to have eight minds with diverse backgrounds when talking intervention and practices. #prosper4ward
A2: Without my PLC, I don't think I would have know about many of the resources (and resource PEOPLE!) available here in Prosper ISD. I know my team has heard me comment many times, "Oh! We can do that here?!" #Prosper4ward
A2: Our team worked together to create a cross-curricular writing rubric to hold Ss accountable in all subjects areas. Their perspective was a huge piece of the process. They reined my ELAR brain in several times! #Prosper4ward
Q4. One thing I can do to add value to our PLC team @Spradley_El is to help our new teammates who have not PLC-ed before and make them feel valued #Prosper4Ward
A2 I'd say the challenge of the badge program. We came into the year with the idea "the old badge program was good, but how can we go from good to great?" My teammates have really stepped up! #Prosper4ward

A3 How can we build a culture of PLC outside of our core teams? How can we foster and facilitate more vertical and horizontal collaboration? #Prosper4ward
A3 I just wonder how all the pieces fit together throughout the week. Our team did a good job with getting to most things weekly: kid talk, unpacking, planning, etc, but time is always against us as teachers! #Prosper4ward
How can I support the teams in their PLC process? What does an effective PLC look like for my position and those I work with?....sorry that is 2 questions #Prosper4Ward
A2- We shared kids during tier time to best use the talents of ALL members of our team. It made a huge difference knowing that ALL really does mean ALL with our team. #Prosper4Ward
A3: How do we ensure that after a decision is reached in PLC that everyone follows through and reflects on the impact of our decisions and actions? #Prosper4ward
A3 One question I have is with our teams changing, how much training in the PLc process will the new hires get- and will we be able to experience a training together as a new team so we can be sure what we need to be ‘tight’ on. #Prosper4ward
A3: What do you do when your team is divided on a topic? Sometimes we vote and move on, but I am interested to see how others handle that? #Prosper4ward
Ask qs about the obstacles they see, then ask how they think you might be able to solve them. Reminder of the norms and being solution oriented is sometimes necessary. Its not always easy, but once it becomes the way your team does things, people get on board #Prosper4ward
Great question! Some teams have built in reflection time on their agenda (usually 5-10 minutes) for action items that they want to check in on. #Prosper4ward
A3: Besides where can we get more time?! 😆 How can we design more great quality pre-assessments (formal or informal) for our units to really see where our learners are in those concepts? #Prosper4ward
Clear action steps for each member can really help. Sometimes we have even had to set timelines for these things to be completed. We all get busy, but usually when a step is planned and committed to with a concrete timeline people hold to it. #Prosper4ward
A2: Coming from an ELAR background, I was unfamiliar with the SS standards not to mention overwhelmed by how many there are. As a team, we were able to break down the standards as well as focus on the essential standards as we met in PLC. #Prosper4Ward
This is hard! However I found that creating something for the team and handing them a pretty package with baby steps helps sometimes. Just try a little new thing, then one more, and so forth. #Prosper4ward
Q3: is it okay to take a step back? Our team has been so efficient in PLCing all subjects this year and with a new team and TL next year is it “okay” to take a step back and make sure our new teammates understand the PLC process and build culture before we dive in?
#prosper4ward
A4: This seems so simple, but help us to stay on track. I like to chat (shocker!) so being more mindful of time. Also, add in some time at the end for the reflection/action steps piece I saw so many of you talking about. All great ideas tonight! #Prosper4Ward
Try building agendas in google sheets. Its sounds weird, but having a column for action steps and assigning those to people can really help keep things from falling through the cracks. #Prosper4ward
A4 I feel like I can help my new team at @Spradley_El with technology and social emotional health. Hope they are ready for some morning meeting! I also love to format Google Doc plans haha. #Prosper4ward
Love this, and I absolutely agree! This is such an important mindset for us all to carry forward...What will it take to reach EVERY SINGLE ONE? #Prosper4ward

Never thought of using Sheets for agendas. Our teams use Docs, but put our action items in comments, assigned to the appropriate person. No reason why you couldn't do this in Sheets, but the column keeps things organized. Totally stealing this for next year! #Prosper4ward

The follow through is hard. @psoneil tells me "you can't be the heavy". That is what Admin is for. When one person doesn't follow through, it will come out in the data PLCs with APs. #Prosper4ward
The HS librarians always add so much value to PLC. They often have resources and solutions to problems before teams even have a chance to realize they need them. #Prosper4ward
#Prosper4ward@PISDLiT A4: This idea just struck me because of reading someone else's answer to Q3: Revisit what we discussed at the previous meeting to see what results we have had. Planning ahead is great, but we need to check on how things are working to adjust for next year.
A4: Being department head next year, I want to make sure our team doesn't have any energy vampires and we are in this together, for the kids! #Prosper4Ward#LoveMeSomeJonGordon

Q4- sending out a WAG (@tschroeder7000 you inspired me🤗) will keep my team in the know on what is on the agenda for that week and what they can be prepared for. Being prepared and organized is so important!! #Prosper4Ward
Yes!! Knowing where your students are is imperative! I've seen some teams use the essential question as a quick pre assessment to gauge understanding and create frequent, focused (i.e. short) formative assessments for along the way. #Prosper4ward
#prosper4ward New employees will receive PLC training during New Employee Orientation. Enlist the help of your Design Coach at the beginning of the year and hit the ground running! You are an AMAZING teacher leader! You've got this!
A4 I really want time to compare “data” and rubric use by asking teachers to bring recordings of performances and leading evaluation discussions. #Prosper4ward
The HS librarians always add so much value to PLC. They often have resources and solutions to problems before teams even have a chance to realize they need them. #Prosper4ward
A4: I plan to implement this doc at the start of next year. It includes links to our CFAs (Google Forms), dates for implementation, and the CFA process we developed together in PLC. This helps our team stay on the same page and track progress. #Prosper4ward
A4- I, personally, need to spend less time talking to give a voice those who sometimes feel that their ideas aren’t good enough or worthwhile. #iamatalker#Prosper4ward
A4: Meet each team where they are and focus on growing kids. We aren’t all in the same place with PLC, but with the right work and the right conversation, our kids will benefit in some amazing ways. Can’t wait!!! 🦅#Prosper4ward
A4: excited to be able to participate in multiple PLC next year at @Spradley_El@hugheselem and @RuckerRocks as an ITS
I hope to aid w technology, help them integrate it in ways to enhance their lessons, and help keep communication open across grades and campuses #prosper4ward

A4: I want to help our PLC remember the students who don't get it and the students who already know it during our initial planning stages by coming to the table with ideas. #Prosper4ward
#prosper4ward reflection is one of the most powerful tools we have as educators! Reflective teacher leaders make differences and move forward to become better for Ss and Ts.
Thanks for a great chat tonight everyone! Once again let's thank our Design Coaches for hosting! Make sure to apply for PD credit. #Prosper4wardhttps://t.co/hedisQy5lh

A4: I want us to step out of our comfort zones bc that's when the magic happens. I want us to take chances & stay positive even if it doesn't go as planned. I want to focus our attention on learning experiences and how we can make social studies relevant to them. #Prosper4Ward
Oh yes we do this! We build it in Docs though with a table and assign tasks using the direct commenting tool so we also get an email. VERY HELPFUL! #Prosper4ward
Remember, your goal is to say No more often. You are brilliant and wonderful but you can't do everything and have time to love on your little one every night! They grow up way too fast! #prosper4ward

A2 The Rocket badge program has definitely been a creative challenge for me as I see how our admin team can infuse google tools to enhance the awesome our teachers already exhibit! #Prosper4ward
Thanks to everyone who contributed to the #Prosper4Ward Twitter Chats this year! I've learned so much from some GREAT people! Thanks for sharing your wisdom!
#prosper4ward Thank you to all who jumped in on the #prosper4ward chat tonight. Giving the "extra" is what makes you each "extraordinary"! Prosper ISD IS TRULY BLESSED THAT YOU JUMPED ON OUR EDUCATION TRAIN!
I’ve loved seeing the growth in my teams from August to now. What I love the most is how much it has impacted students. Proud of my Rucker peeps, for being vulnerable, intentional, open minded, and collaborative. Can’t wait to see where we go. #Prosper4Ward
