Gonna prep myself to feel like a senior dev. This is more of a personal goal than one related to my current job. I want to feel and know that I have that skill set. #DevDiscuss
My primary goal for 2018 is to do more teaching. Mentor others just getting started in freelancing or wanting to eventually turn freelancing into a full-time career. #DevDiscuss
I started blogging near the end of last year about learning new technologies/tools/languages and I'm really excited to continue with it! I also want to give more conference talks this year! #DevDiscuss
Getting a tech job! I joined the Code Newbie 2018 challenge today figuring I'm going to need all the help I can get to make this goal happen. #DevDiscuss#CNC2018
I havenβt fleshed out a ton of goals, trying to take it one at a time or Iβll get overwhelmed.
First up: pass my AWS certification exam.
#DevDiscuss
#DevDiscuss I'm also hoping to pick up a new language this year. Stretch goal is writing more than one blog post per 12 months, but that's probably a pipe dream.
2018 Goals:
- Get hired
- Communicate better
- Read more technical books
- Read more in general
- Update blog more often
- Work on side projects
- Contribute to Open Source

After teaching JS to a few hundred people last year I'm hoping to put together a killer pair of courses on Blockchain and Big Data for people coming from other fields... #DevDiscuss Toronto seems the right place to do so!
My 2018 Goals:

#DevDiscuss In 2018, I hope to get WAY better in UX/UI. I'm an accomplished CTO/founder, but my websites aren't as clear as they should. Btw, do you have any resources where to start ? :)
And I wish you a happy new year !
#DevDiscuss Most of my plans for improving as a developer involve stepping back from development a little bit - sleep more, exercise more, work with my hands - I think those activities will improve my dev skills more than any book/course/project.
I'm not at all a UX/UI specialist but I loved this thread: https://t.co/AjeA749V97
I also like the Daily UI Challenge: https://t.co/1lS7DTHDBC
There are a couple other newsletters too, like UI movement or web animation weekly.
So many awesome Codepens too!
#DevDiscuss

4:00 am π is very early. But no one else is up then giving me a few hours every morning to focus on my goals. Other successful people are getting up that early and I want to try it for a while and see how much of an impact it makes. π€·ββοΈ #DevDiscuss

I will say, I am a morning person and starting work at 7:30 when most people start at 9 helps SO much. I'm a lot more productive before people get into the office. #DevDiscuss

Highly recommend reading Steve Krug's books and anything on the Nielsen Norman site. Also, good user testing helps a ton. We use TryMyUI at work. #DevDiscuss

#DevDiscuss If you're having trouble following through with your goals or feel they sound too fluffy, consider re-working them or fleshing them out them until they fit the SMART criteria: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-Bound.
I believe strongly that in person mentorship is required when working with people without a Comp Sci background. But I'm curating online resources to use a flip model. #DevDiscuss
- Do more personal projects
- Ship an MVP at work
- Create a better DevOps/CI workflow
- Learn a new language
- Learn more about ML/AI something more science-y than I normally work with to expand my knowledge
#DevDiscuss
These are my goals for 2018. Concrete objectives that I can actively track. I'll know this year was a success once I've finished every last one. Clock starts now.
My 2018 outlook is that I need to find good areas in which to do less. I do plenty so I don't need a "do more" attitude, but I want to be more deliberate with my time. #devdiscuss

I wasn't able to attend last year but I met some attendees at a @freeCodeCamp meetup with the founder who was in town for Codeland so I met a lot of awesome people who attended and heard great things! I already got my ticket for this year! #devdiscuss

I use to wake up early (I had to go to office at 9:00), now I have a remote job and... well, no more waking up early. I should change that this year :)

My goal? Eliminate manual deploys and bring up some of the first open source projects provided by the company. Both are huge changes in mindset since I was hired, and I'm super excited! #DevDiscuss
I applied for a new position a couple of weeks ago. Hoping to expand to full stack .Net and Angular. I've been an SDET for the past couple of years, so it will be a welcome change. #DevDiscuss

Try to learn something new every day, but not necessary write code (outside work) every day; some weeks in 2017 I got fairly burnt out π
Also, more sleep, more water, more consistent exercising! #DevDiscuss
Trying to get everything organized while everything is still relatively calm from the holidays. And working on actually following a meditation ritual. #DevDiscuss
Less screentime, more paper. It's easy to be hypnotized by the blue-ish glow of the LCD and see productivity go down to zero while time spent "working" spikes. #devdiscuss
Teach a SQL class.
Teach a class on $MyProduct for our powerusers.
CISSP (stop laughing, it's a soft rqrmnt in my dept)
Product owner training (I'm more Qui Gonn than Mace Windu, time to embrace that)
Learn enough Java and SpringBoot to help on $MyProduct dev team.
