#TOSAChat is a chat on Twitter every Monday night at 8pm PST for TOSAs (teachers on special assignment), including all edtech and instructional coaches.
Hello #TOSAchat! Ann here, stoked to be moderating chat w @kmartintahoe & @TeachingTechNix tonight! Love me some pumpkin pie dump cake for Thanksgiving dessert!
🎃🍂🦃
kelly from Tahoe. Ed tech & curriculum coordinator. my fave holiday treat is pumpkin ribbon pie with a praline crust! Can't wait to enjoy it next week. #tosachat
Eduardo Rivera, Tech TOSA, favorite treat is Pumpkin pie with whip cream. Actually sometimes it feels like Whip Cream with pumpkin pie buried underneath it. #TOSAchat
Hi, #TOSAChat - this is Kristin from SoCal. I'm a Technology TOSA for a small district in LA county. My favorite treat is anything with pumpkin in it - bread, cheesecake, muffins. #alloftheabove
Hey, #tosachat! Jody— Ed Tech Academic Coach in La Habra. I love pumpkin pie and apple pie... and the only time I eat it is on Thanksgiving!! So excited for next week!
A1 Moving all of my Google drive files (and my staff's) from the school account to a new account. It seems like it's going to be a pain and I keep putting it off. #TOSAchat

Hey #TOSAchat. Steph here. TOSA, Dept Chair, Teacher. I looked pumpkin pie, mostly just the pumpkin center. It goes with my love of cinnamon. I also love fruit crumbles. Yummy holiday time.
A1: one small win, I just accomplished this YESTERDAY... finally organized my home office! It's been 100 days in the making, but means I'm not working from my kitchen table anymore! #TOSAchat
A1: One thing that I have been putting off is applying for the Google Innovators program. I also have a ton of half-written blog posts sitting in Google Keep - should probably get on that. #tosachat
Hey #TOSAchat. Steph here. TOSA, Dept Chair, Teacher. I ❤️ pumpkin pie, mostly just the pumpkin center. It goes with my love of cinnamon. I also love fruit crumbles. Yummy holiday time.
A1: Start working on my application for Google Certified Trainer. Want to take my skills assessment and start working on creating my video for submission. #tosachat

Hey #TOSAChat! Jenna from Pitts, Ga (yes that’s a place). Instructional tech specialist and former science specialist. Favorite holiday treat is any kind pecan pie brownies.
A1: So I finally got to my blog after being asked this here. Yay! Next up, I need to start my podcast. I've done lots of research. Have a meeting next week with an admin where I plan to discuss time to make this happen. This will happen! #TOSAchat
I use Google Forms and YouCanBookMe in tandem. I’ve got a great system to get booked. I need to work on my go observe and seek out people methods. #TOSAchat
One piece of encouragement - just read this in a book - don't over commit. Own what you take on. It will help with balance and prioritizing tasks. #TOSAchat
Hi #tosachat. Joe, Elem Principal, checking in late. A1: I want to get back to blogging. My blog though needs to be revised. It currently says Journey of a Math & STEAM Coach. It needs a new title.

i ran two calendars for awhile. Used https://t.co/BCzI3r9637 to make it easy for Ts. then added the appointments in to my outlook calendar. Not ideal but it works. #tosachat

A2: This summer a teacher friend and I started submitting proposals to any & all conferences we could find - in hopes of stepping out of our box & growing as educators. We just finished our 4th conference last weekend - back to back to back to back! #tosachat
A2 Applying for and getting into the Google Innovator program. I still have a TON of challenge ahead with my Innovator project, but I’ve got a start...#TOSAchat
A2: Rolling out our robotics program. So far it's going SO well! Ts are excited to use them in teh classroom. And seeing the power of coding. #tosachat
Would love to read more about your efforts for a robotics program! I've been dabbling in robots for a couple of years and would love to learn more! #tosachat
A2: One challenge I had was scheduling my appointments with teachers across 8 school sites. https://t.co/8jRl6iUbs1 has been my savior. Works so efficiently. My teachers love it too! #tosachat

A2: Started an #improvementscience team through my admin work with @TMcKey21 Team is examining barriers that are in way of improved math achievement for all. #TOSAchat
It will happen. I love a few podcasts: @TosasTalkinTech, The10minuteteacher, @EdTechConfess. Hoping to model mine after these structurally. Involve teachers who might not be so tech savvy in the process and highlight something great they're doing to inspire students. #TOSAchat

Before my first year as a coach, ppl told me the role ebbs and flows. There may be things you have on your list that can wait until the slow times. Hopefully those times are coming. #tosachat
That is AWESOME! Way to step outside the box! Presenting will bring growthful opportunities! What an fantastic way to drive your own growth and PD! #TOSAchat
A1: I’ve taken on the challenge of trying to differentiating PD in our district by using bite size pieces of new tips or strategies. Called #1CoolThing. It’s a blend of screencasts on YouTube channel, blog, small PD sessions, Twitter, etc. trying to build momentum. #TOSAchat
LOVE this! I have tried something similar with my Lesson Up Podcast. https://t.co/H2xv79kWHa You can’t ever have too much talk about improving our practice! Let us (@edtechconfess) know if we can help! #TOSAchat

Thank you! It's definitely made me uncomfortable - I was never a good public speaker. But I love sharing ideas with other Ts and educators - love sharing ideas I am passionate about! #spedcantoo#K2cantoo#tosachat
That’s definitely a great way to connect with the students. I rode the bus to school with the students. Got to the first bus stop early and the kids were so surprised to see me when they got on. #tosachat
Awesome, Stephanie! Once you get a few under your belt - you've got your system. Please let us know when your podcast launches and connect with #podcastEDU too! #TOSAchat
My biggest challenge has really been figuring out how to balance my roles. Support those in need, but strattle the line between teacher and someone sitting at the DO table. I'm privy to so much more this year. It's been beneficial but want to remain someone of trust. #TOSAchat
A3: Getting Ts excited about the new tools I have introduced in their classrooms. I've used @PearDeck and Ts keep asking for additional PD! I also have Ts signing up for after-school PD sessions - this is awesome that we have Ts committed to learning new stuff! #tosachat
A3 Can I reuse my Innovator Program from A2? Took me several tries to get in, but it was #worthit. Love my #LAX18#GoogleEI family! I’m inspired and challenged by them daily! #TOSAchat
Do they mix up the time of day? Before school, lunch, after? I think that it’s a good strategy for some teachers. I did a “#1CoolThing Coffee Session” before school last week. We had about a dozen join. #TOSAchat
A3: Many: Successful site orientation with the Maker Carts the school purchased last Spring. Self Care September kicked off the year. 302 pairs of socks for Socktober. Collecting unwanted Halloween candy now for Treats for Troops. #tosachat

A3: I have yet to see final parent teacher conference % but after 3 years of teaching families how to use sign up genius we had 85% of families sign up electronically! 🙌#TOSAchat
We record into Camtasia. I use that to edit and export the audio file. I host both Lesson Up and EdTechConfessions on tier 3 storage from Amazon Web Services. So I manage the files and storage and XML files myself. I’m happy to help anyone else get started! #TOSAchat

A3: this one is a win for the entire district, not just me. We have put MANY more devices in the hands of our Ss, and our Ts are so ready and willing to push outside of their comfort zones and try new things with me! It has been a really invigorating year. #tosachat
Students got to do their first google hangout and I’m setting up more and helping get the kids news channel going! Working on introducing SAMR and evaluating lessons. #tosachat
A3: Presenting for the first time at #fallcue this year and getting positive feedback and reflecting on the areas I can improve on for my session in spring cue. #tosachat

A3. Making connections to teachers within my district and those outside. It's been a challenge to keep PD fresh. So many great leaders out there sharing. #TOSAchat
Yes, that is delicate balance. Is your role Admin? Do you do formal observations? My TOSA role was Teacher first - always there as a layer of support, no eval. Just help. #TOSAchat
After a very full day of hiking along trails and through caves @PinnaclesNPS I'm winding down with my kids and prepping for a busy week ahead. Sorry to miss #tosachat tonight. #wheresmsrnow#edtechfamily
The staff decided to buy carts for the Maker Movement rather than having a Makerspace. Personally I like mobile carts more too. Here’s a slide deck of when I shared the carts at the Sept Parent Coffee w/ the Principal https://t.co/tchyfD1Ph4#tosachat

I’m trying to have as many points of entry as possible, so it can hopefully feel accessible to many. I feel like it’s a lot of looping. I know for me as a learner, when I hear people refer to something multiple times, I tend to tune in more. I’m trying to do that for Ts #TOSAchat
A3) A success is my dept has been given the green light to teach a 6 week Design Thinking and Rapid Prototyping elective at a local middle school. We’re super excited to get back into classrooms as the teacher! #tosachat
That is way cool. You can also use Google Hangout for #MysterySkype / #MysteryMeet. Great way for students to practice ELA, HIS/SS, and other skills. #tosachat
Welcome, Victoria! Do it! The study materials in the training center are very helpful. If you can attend one, @EdTechTea puts on some great bootcamps for this. #tosachat

This sounds amazing! I’d love to take a peek at it, too! We are launching something at one of our TK-6 schools for our upper elementary kids. #tosachat
A3: Last week 1. Helped a teacher make a video: tofu making. 2. Met to review how it went & feedback process. 3. She was so grateful + I got to try tofu. 4. While leaving she saw my board with students pics. She asked how I make groups. I sent her my blog on it! #TOSAchat
A3: Ive been really humbled and thrilled by the positive feedback I’ve gotten from Ts that the 1:1 sessions and videos have been helpful for them. It’s super motivating to do more. Another big win has been how many Ts I’ve seen try new things that I’ve encouraged. #TOSAChat
nice! This sounds like building a foundation of trust and establishing relationships is bringing opportunities to go deeper. Love this win! Thanks for sharing! #TOSAchat
A4: Our teachers are juggling a variety of initiatives this year. We had Tech-tober (tech in 2 min. screencasts) and now Techsgiving (template a day)...best I can do with a 1:1200 tech TOSA:teacher ratio! #TOSAchat
A4: I don't think it's outside the box but I send out monthly newsletters (via Google Slides) - it's a HyperSlide with everything that I will be teaching in the next month, reviews of what has been taught, a new "tool to try", free PD opportunities and more! #tosachat
A3: So excited about how many Ts are using new tools to share student voice like @Seesaw and @Flipgrid. Lots of toe dips but the usage goes up regularly! #tosachat
Not an answer - simply a compliment. This is a great Q. It really gets me thinking of what else I can do. Supporting the teachers at the school is something I am constantly doing, but what is something new? Something out of the box? Hmmmm #tosachat
In reply to
@TosaChat, @kmartintahoe, @annkozma723, @TeachingTechNix
Thats great to see. How do you know more people are using thoses tools? I kinda feel like I share information but it is hard to see where the imapact is happening. #TOSAchat
A4: Not really outside the box but I try to support teachers with as many things I can even if they are "outside my domain." It helps me expand my own knowledge base and helps build stronger relationships. #tosachat

@TosaChat, @kmartintahoe, @annkozma723, @TeachingTechNix
A4: I have had pockets of success with my Keeping it Fresh on Friday’s email teaching tip. I try and feature an innovative, easy to implement technique. Here is one. https://t.co/JIQME7CzLG#TOSAchat
non-traditional as in... ? :)
I LOVE me some PLAY PD challenges... get hands on - move around- try new things - all about leaving a session to go DO something, rather than sit and get. #TOSAchat
totally agree Joe. It makes me think about how I can support teachers better. What else can I do to reach more teachers? How can I get to them reach out if they need help? #tosachat

@Jyoung1219, @TosaChat, @annkozma723, @TeachingTechNix
A4 I’m the door dasher for their Starbucks. :) We have a Starbucks just down the street, so they mobile order and I pick them all up and deliver them. #tosachat#teachersgottahavetheircoffee
A4 best compliment from #fallCUE, "This is the first time I've left a session because the presenter told me to go moo at a cow." Yup... I want folks to be active AND engaged...if that means leaving the session to go learn, I'm all for it! #TOSAchat@kmartintahoe@TeachingTechNix
A4: I’ve been thinking about ways to get my district to buy in to the idea of doing PD in the form of #20Time. Get out of the way and let Ts goal set, plan, and implement. Then share out at the end. #TOSAchat#Longtermgoals
awesome way to push your own PD and explore, share and contribute! Those 3 words drive me to keep going! Love how you are going beyond your own domain! #TOSAchat

@Msbpatel, @TosaChat, @kmartintahoe, @TeachingTechNix
As in, me not presenting directly to them. Teaching them to go and find their own learning. Podcasts, Twitter, Voxer, building a solid PLN, etc... #TOSAchat
No formal observations that go towards rehiring but helping with Prob1 and Prob2 Google survey that the DO wants. My role is certainly support. But I am also a Dept Chair so I really do need to model and support growth while hearing what the DO and admin want. #TOSAchat
A4: Our Think Digital PD has been fun. We pay teachers to learn something new but it also includes them having to showcase what they have learned in their class before they get their time cards. #TOSAchat
In reply to
@TosaChat, @kmartintahoe, @annkozma723, @TeachingTechNix
I used to do this when I taught SPED - I would write thank you notes to any teacher who "had" to come and took time to do so. I also included a little teacher pin I found on Oriental Trading. The Ts seemed to appreciate that I appreciated their time for my kiddos. #tosachat
A5 I struggle with this question because Ed Tech Coach is pretty much my dream job… but I guess I’d say I’d be doing something where I’d get to present techy sessions to all different people in all different places every day. Presenting is my happy place. #tosachat
A5: Either back in 5th grade or some role in EdTech. I am really passionate about training teachers about how to integrate and leverage tech. I really enjoy presenting :) #TOSAchat
A5: If I wasn't a TOSA, I would still be teaching! I am a big science nerd and have thought about teaching middle school science. I have also thought about teaching ELA and journalism. #tosachat
A5: Elementary teacher at heart. I would take all the learning and growth that has happened over the past 4 years and put it in action with my own students. #tosachat
In reply to
@TosaChat, @kmartintahoe, @annkozma723, @TeachingTechNix
A5: Some days I miss my tosa days. But i know i have more influence now as an admin. But I wish I could focus on EdTech as my split focus with EdTech & Curriculum is a lot to manage. #tosachat
We visit them in their class. Wehave to see it in action, not evaluative of course. It goes deeper at the next level with a large audience with "Be Digital" and then "Beyond Digital" #TOSAchat

A5: definitely teaching. I love teaching bio and would love to teach other classes I’ve taught like biotech, Marine Bio, or Anatomy and Physiology. I think some years later, I’d like to teach preservice teachers too. #TOSAchat
We’re designing teacher/admin experiences for labs that were just redesigned with flexible seating. Our theory, you need to exp a modern classroom as a learner to understand what you are advocating. 4 rooms, 4 exp w/ VR, DT, personalization, etc... #tosachat
A4: Outside the box. Hmm. @MrOrreBiology has done a great job with this with @tr_bo. Evening and morning sessions for support. I'm happy to be part of this team. I've personally done lots of lunch time chats to help support and have food. #TOSAchat
A5: I would want to teach some form of Makerspace/Coding/Video Creation/Robotics Hybrid. All the programs I am working on now but with students. #TOSAchat
yeah, helping pre-service teachers was always in the back of my mind too! - reach out to all the student teachers in your district - invite them to local events w your local @cueinc affiliate! #CVCUE had 50 pre-service Ts at their recent techfest! I was way impressed! #TOSAchat
A5: Happy to answer that I'm teaching and doing what I want. It's taken 17 years to get here but it's happening. In another life, I would be a graphic design and video teacher. Teaching yearbook for 14 years has made me honorary, but maybe I'd make it official. #TOSAchat
I know I have a folder in my desk with the positive letters I have received over the years. Great on those days I question if I am in the right place. #TOSAchat

A6 Inspired. I am so inspired by so many people this year and I have so many ideas on what I want to do as a result of all that inspiration. Now I just have to find time to do some of it… #tosachat
A6: IMPACT....it was my word for the year...and I think I have had an impact, and I know I have been impacted by many of the opportunities I experienced. #TOSAchat
A6: One word... #LocoLearner. This has become my mantra. I want to keep learning like crazy and I feel like I just began my journey. Hoping 2019 brings even more learning opportunities. #TOSAchat

A6: One word to sum up 2018 would be - "resolute". I left my tenured job as a SPED teacher to jump into the world of TOSA-ing because of what I believed in. I continue to push through challenges to meet the goals I have for myself. #tosachat
I just got our postcards printed last week. I’m super excited to show them to @srothteachlg and start using them. Totally a tip I learned about at #fallCUE#TOSAChat
