    Hi #leadLAP "Do you believe in Magic?" Our Halloween was spooktacular @OakHarborPS We let students dress up for the first time in years, did an all school walk/run so we could see everyone's costumes. Then, we had parent teacher conferences Nov. 1,2 to let kids sleep in.

    A1: Puppets are MAGICal. Students love them; they think they are real and they will really open up to them. Here Winthrop is talking with them about good v. poor choices. If I didn't have a puppet with me when I was welcoming Ss to our #leadership lab, it led to mutiny. #leadlap

    A2 @IndigoProgram there is always a choice component to projects. Starting with a broad essential question lets the students develop their own driving questions. As principal, students who ask for changes are involved in writing policy and leading that change. #LeadLAP

    Before the school year begins, I send out a letter using “pirate talk” telling them about the year ahead. The letter includes a pix of me dressed as a pirate to build excitement. I have also burned the edges of the paper to make it more “authentic”. #leadlap

    A2. We have created a Maker Space available throughout the day that allows for creativity and choice, a student group Eagle Ambassadors that lead activities for new students and give tours and classroom instruction that is student centered. #leadlap

    A2: I love passion projects and Teach the Teacher. They can choose anything they want to learn about or showcase talents and gifts they have. I also give lots of choice on a daily basis. Choice in how they showcase learning. Ss will now ask could I try this way instead. #LeadLAP

    Yes! Through reading!!! We no longer have levels or quizzes - students read whatever they want when they want. It's been incredible to watch them set their own goals (how many books can I read in a quarter) and work toward them! #LeadLAP #MLmagical

    A3 Personally, I used to love playing dominoes because it became so intense.I loved trying to come up with the best strategy to win but professionally I just watched quizletlive in a classroom and loved how kids worked together to decide the answers #leadlap

    A3- Our older kids have an elective called strategy games, students play, write reviews, and tell strategies they've developed, they also play "dungeons and dragons" I have no idea what they're doing, but they're definitely thinking and collaborating! And having fun! #LeadLAP

    A5: In my classroom we are constantly collaborating which leads to curiosity and then creativity. We work in teams, partners or small groups. Ss engage in #PBL, we have tables instead of desks and areas around the room for other group discussion. #LEADLAP #MLmagical

    A5: I love to tap into curiosity. Sometimes it's as simple as bringing in a weird object or some unusual artwork and letting kids think, talk, and/or write about it. Once I brought in a crustal ball as an into to Macbeth. Kids started predicting all sorts of things 😁 #leadlap

    A7:Thru collab w/a local environment monitoring program Ss will be helping to gather data which is placed in a national database that tracks our river, water levels, plants, & animals called Nature's Notebook. They will learn how they directly impact our local ecosystem. #LeadLAP

    Great question! It’s making me rethink our “guests” when hosting our kindergarten inventors fair, and our zoo where the students research an animal and are the zoo keeper when presenting. We have parents and other students come in but “community experts” would be GREAT! #leadlap
