Simply the relationships built with the students, staff, and community at my new school. That’s what it’s all about 1st year in a new building #MEMSPAchat
A1: The collaborative culture, positive relationships, and relational trust that has been established and continues to grow with my staff and the community. Laying the ground work to empower and lead the change! #MEMSPAchat
A1: Making a valid attempt at learning the names of nearly 700 staff and students in a new building, bringing in new ideas, and starting the process of adding PBIS systems and processes as well as the @PosProject to our building this fall. #getbettereveryday#memspachat
A1: becoming a part of our district math coaching team! It’s a first for our district. Our goal is to create as much clarity and transparency’s possible. #MEMSPAchat
A1: Could not be more proud of our students and teachers. Our students have been featured on our local news and paper for their random acts of kindness. Not only do they work hard to learn but they care about each other. #MEMSPAchat
A1: That proud moment just happened for our school. After 4 years of deep dedicated PLC work, we were recognized as a Model PLC School. It was an awesome celebration for our staff. #monpln#MEMSPAchat
The continued implementation of Restorative Justice practices as part of our overall philosophy as our approach to student discipline. Need to remember our purpose is to educate not punish. #MEMSPAchat
A1: So many things...my hardworking and awesome staff, our growing 7 Habits Program, student growth, parents and family support and my personal growth as a leader, especially growing my PLN with all of you! #MEMSPAchat
A1) We’ve had 9 more cohorts of @NGSXproject science PD across Wayne Co this year. That means another 250 classrooms where students engage in phenomena, modeling, argumentation, and explanation practices. #MEMSPAchat
The continued implementation of Restorative Justice practices as part of our overall philosophy as our approach to student discipline. Need to remember our purpose is to educate not punish. #MEMSPAchat
A1: Being able to visit classrooms often and build rapport with the students and staff. As first year principal, my goal was to learn about everyone in the building. (And surviving the year was good too!!) #MEMSPAchat
A1: I am proud that even though I faced tragic losses this year both personally and professionally, my staff and myself continued to lean on each other, learn together and only made it until May, but are finishing strong!! #MEMSPAchat
A1 Can't name just one. 1st year principal so I'm most proud of the relationships built with my staff, students and families. Our school was also named a WI Title I School of Recognition 3rd year in a row #MEMSPAchat
A1 #MEMSPA for welcoming me into the fold and introducing me to amazing educational leaders who are invigorating Michigan education - and helping make my transition from Australian education to American education a fabulously positive learning opportunity #memspachat
A1 #MEMSPA for welcoming me into the fold and introducing me to amazing educational leaders who are invigorating Michigan education - and helping make my transition from Australian education to American education a fabulously positive learning opportunity #memspachat
A2: Celebrating is SO important! During the last "Staff Collaboration Time" of the year, we hang up all of our agendas and take a look back at all we've accomplished! #MEMSPAchat
A2: Practice an attitude of gratitude for our students and staff that have made this year of transition a smooth one and give thanks to those who have come forward to be a part of the PBIS/P2 TEAM. I'm also going to have more than 1 IPA. #teamworkmakesthedreamwork#memspachat
A2: Hand written thank-yous to staff and a focus on reflection and growth with our students during our final Family Time assembly of the year! #MEMSPAchat
A2: We(grab custodians-whoever we can find) go into classrooms like going to a restaurant for your birthday for Ss who have gone up in reading. Ts love seeing the excitement.#MEMSPAchat
A2: Tomorrow afternoon we have our annual staff v students dodgeball game. It is the final celebration of our can food drive to support our local pantry. Amazing effort by students and encouragement from the teachers. #MEMSPAchat
A2 Celebratory meeting is in the works! Contuining to recognize through spoken words and notes that it is because of the dedication and hardwork of staff, students find success #MEMSPAchat
A2: I love to celebrate, big and small!! I'm hoping to finish the year strong and learn from all of you as to how I can best celebrate our accomplishments and send my staff off for a fabulous summer!! #MEMSPAchat
A2: We always save last meeting of year to celebrate successes, plan for upcoming year and of course, EAT! I would like to do more to celebrate our parent support. We celebrate Ss all year! :) #MEMSPAchat
A3) Depends on the teacher...some public acknowledgement at after school meetings; some personal notes. Encourage risk taking. Always make sure if they fail to let them know it is OK. #MEMSPAchat
Personal notes and conversations, highlighting a strength during Instructional Rounds, asking them to lead something, remembering to thank them for the children and expressing my pride in what they do to make our school better. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Celebrations are shared at the beginning of every staff meeting we have. The entire staff celebrates each others accomplishments together. I also make it a point to personally recognize their hard work through a hand written note or quick conversation #MEMSPAchat
A3: I try to convey appreciation all year long. I BBQed for them on Tuesday. Definitely excited to hear more ideas from others on ways to celebrate and show appreciation. #MEMSPAchat
It really is about mindset. We realize not all staff understand or are on board. Parents need education on it as well. People are so used to students getting "a pound of flesh" for their mistakes. Imparative to change that view all around. #MEMSPAchat

A4: So many goals: I am going to try and make LESS rookie mistakes next year-priority 1! After that, I'd like to re-energize the PLC process in my building, collaborate more, allow Ss a larger platform and voice and to empower my staff to feel comfortable taking risks #MEMSPAchat

A5: Honors Assemblies, #GoodNewsCalloftheDay, small notes here and there, Special Person of the Week. Looking at ways to celebrate the academic success those who work hard, show growth, but might be on the "honor roll" #memspachat
A5: Celebrating with students comes in all shapes and sizes! Individual: Read to the Principal. Small group: Build in the MakerSpace with the Principal. Class: Kickball Game vs. the Principal. Whole School: Sing Along! #MEMSPAchat
A5: It’s the small, everyday celebrations that make a difference. Noticing a student improving on an assignment or showing appropriate behavior and giving a high five and quick “Great work, I’m proud of you” has been powerful for me this year. #MEMSPAchat
A5) I’ve been to a couple “learning showcase” “mind fair" type events at schools this year. Students presenting their project/learning followed by me honestly saying, “Wow. That’s really cool.” #whyweteach#MEMSPAchat
