I would like all staff members to rekindle their passion that brought them to this profession. If teachers have passion, students will have passion for learning. Ts will make it happen. A1 #MEMSPAchat

A1: We are going to continue the process of implementing the 5D rubric with the purpose of continuous improvement. Being sure to teach the big 5 reading ideas daily and done right #MEMSPAchat
A1: Focusing on changing the narrative on what and how we teach. We no longer teach "5th grade math"we must teach "Math in 5th grade". We must focus on the students and not so much on the curriculum or the standards. Relationship. Relationship. Relationships. #MEMSPAchat
A1: I've challenged all staff to start a Twitter account and tweet out each week of the great things happening in their classrooms using our school hashtag! #BuchananBears#MEMSPAchat
A) expectations to grow as people and learn how to ask the right questions that motivate themselves and others to dive into solving problems. #MEMSPAchat

A1: Our school culture is grounded in high academic and behavioral expectations, but I think we all need to improve in our inclusiveness, understanding, and patience for students who do not easily fit this mold. #MEMSPAchat
A1: #TraverseHeights staff hold each other accountable by being honest, embracing discourse, and always staying focused on meeting our Ss needs. Culture that embraces collaboration is contagious! #MEMSPAchat

"Setting High Expectations with Results"
A1, To build lasting relationships with students, provide support for new staff through the new teacher program, and support co-workers with positivity! #MEMSPAchat
A1: I've challenged all staff to start a Twitter account and tweet out each week of the great things happening in their classrooms using our school hashtag! #BuchananBears#MEMSPAchat
Expectation to choose a group in our school improvement and to learn something that will change teaching. Be a different teacher/learner in June than we are in September. Super excited about School Improvement this year! #MEMSPAchat
A1: Bringing more of a community sense and being part of something bigger than yourself. Our new PBIS approach focuses on classroom achievement as opposed to individual achievement. #MEMSPAchat
A1) Striving for my personal best- Wildly Important Goal setting, building positive relationships w Ss, Ts, Ps, encouraging thinking outside the box. #MEMSPAchat
A2: I prefer to have teachers identify and set their own high expectations. I want them to grow in areas that THEY feel they need to improve in and give them the support they need. #MEMSPAchat
A2) Begin with the end in mind. Work backwards and see what needs to before for them to accomplish a goal in 5 or 10 weeks. Be intentional and focused. Be incredibly positive about all progress. Notice growth and compliment #MEMSPAchat
A2: We build the expectations together and then I provide support to meet those goals. It is an "I got you" versus an "I gotcha" (Thank you @BethHouf) for that one. #MEMSPAchat
Setting high expectations needs to start from what teachers expect from themselves, first. Ask staff about their own high expectations for themselves. Collectively decide what expectations should become predominant this year. A2 #MEMSPAchat
Love how this gets teachers out of the day-to-day so they can see the awesome work they are doing! Look at your classroom through a different lens! #memspachat
A2: From my perspective - it is pushing them out of their comfort zone and implementing new learning as an adult. Change is difficult for everyone and forcing teachers to examine what isn't working and correct is huge. #MEMSPAchat
A2: We looked at what seeds were sprinkled the last few years, what Ts wanted to learn about, what would raise S engagement in the classroom and what was just right for kids! #MEMSPAchat
A2: We used a strategy from adaptive schools to brainstorm our collective goals as a staff (for the building) Then at our next staff meeting we are going to prioritize and generate lists/strategies to be purposeful and deliberate in our attempts to achieve our goals #MEMSPAchat
A2: I prefer to have teachers identify and set their own high expectations. I want them to grow in areas that THEY feel they need to improve in and give them the support they need. #MEMSPAchat
A2: I prefer to have teachers identify and set their own high expectations. I want them to grow in areas that THEY feel they need to improve in and give them the support they need. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Working together with various teams throughout the building to define areas for growth and create expectations with staff, which in turn gives them more ownership. My job as a leader to support and give feedback to foster continued growth. #memspachat
A2: Meet w/ each teacher 1:1 before the end of Sept (started in Aug) to learn where they want to grow & be deliberate about providing feedforward in real time to help the be the best they can be! #memspachat
A2: Most of my teaching staff meets for School Improvement meetings on their own time before school one day each month. Together, we set goals & develop strategies that reflect our collective desire to constantly improve our practices & the opportunities for our Ss. #MEMSPAchat
A1: I am all about literacy this year. I am working on revamping the library and get teachers and students involved with the 10 Essential Instructional Practices in Early literacy. I want us to grow together as a literacy community.
#MEMSPAchat
A2: We build the expectations together and then I provide support to meet those goals. It is an "I got you" versus an "I gotcha" (Thank you @BethHouf) for that one. #MEMSPAchat
A2: Setting high expectations starts with a common vision & mission; why we're here, what we want for our students, & how we'll make a difference. When we say ALL students can learn, the expectation is that we believe it - no matter what students walk in with. #MEMSPAchat
A2) Consider how I can coach based on their needs but most importantly how can I help teachers stretch out of their comfort zone and lead from where they stand but also see their incredible strengths. #memspachat
A2: Following through on beliefs and values of education and modeling it each day. I can’t expect my staff to follow through on something I don’t believe in. #MEMSPAchat
A3: We pull out last year's evaluation, look those areas that they want to be highly effective in and set goals, objectives, and timelines to achieve that goal to improve on their evaluation. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Holding individual goal setting meetings with teachers starting next week to identify goal areas. Teachers complete a "Goals Survey" that aligns with our evaluation tool and guides the conversation that takes place during the meeting. #memspachat
A3: In addition to using ratings on the 5D+ rubric, teachers look at the challenges they are facing in their individual classrooms for that year. #memspachat
We need to ask ts to make a list what matters to them in each of the areas and what THEY would like to accomplish. Then, ask them to prioritize their goals. A3 #MEMSPAChat
Trust the process of the evaluation process. Treat it as a growth model that finishes with a “grade.” Work with my team to find ways to support them both individually and as a system #MEMSPAchat
Very good! Met with the new teacher cohort today. Working to support them with a checklist, mentoring observations, book studies, reflections, discussions and feedback. Great start!!
A3: The key is after the goal is written and their is an action plan in place...they ask and plan with you for admin support - time, training, resources, etc. AND always create a written visual and plan for personal goals. #memspachat
A3: Teachers need more time for reflection and meaningful goal setting. Sad that sometimes it feels like it's become a check in the box. Allowing teachers to collaborate around data and leverage talents within our team, we are prioritizing needs and setting goals. #MEMSPAchat
A3: Taking the time to meet and discuss what areas they want to improve in and providing resources to support it. It could be time, technology programs, collaboration efforts, or anything needed to help. #MEMSPAchat
A3: By working together, knowing where they want to grow, providing support and collaborating throughout the process, including evaluation. #memspachat
A3- this is where I struggle. I’d like to strengthen the balance of coaching & helping Ts reflect on meaningful goals, making the evaluation process meaningful- not just a checkbox. #MEMSPAchat
A4: Again, it falls back on them to help set their goals and look ahead to where they want to go. They need to know where they are going with out the lead-dog pulling the sleigh. #MEMSPAchat
A3) Looking at goals for the coming year at the end of the current year, vs. waiting until fall is more authentic & meaningful. It’s fresh in teachers’ minds & provides time to research those goals during summer months with a chance to glean a new perspective. #MEMSPAchat
A4: We have finally hired a literacy coach and they are going to be an integral part in helping teachers develop realistic and attainable goals. #MEMSPAchat
Good evening my #MEMSPAchat family! Michael Johnson here representing #PAWSITIVE pride @A2_Carpenter in Ann Arbor! Just finished Curriculum Night! Pumped and READY!
Use evaluation feedback to see if there is a pattern of areas that can be strengthened in the school. Make it part of principals’ goals to work in them personally and with staff. A4 #MEMSPAChat
A4: When completing learning walks, I make sure that I have Ts goal(s) in mind and look specifically for evidence of growth toward them throughout. Feedback conversations highlight the growth and provide coaching opportunities, #memspachat
A4: I’m a big believer in being part of the conversation. I know where I need to go in the classroom, where I’m needing growth, but I also feel inspired to steer my ship with the feedback I receive. #MEMSPAchat
We have a new Admin team, so we looked at what was working and what wasn’t and had our teachers help us develop goals that would help us succeed. #memspachat
A4: I use it as an opportunity to be open and honest both ways. It’s a conversation about what was happening in class, how it relates to student achievement and how it relates to the big picture. Of course a lot more happens outside of the “observation” time. #MEMSPAchat
A4: Principals are often in a position where they have to evaluate and then coach the teacher. We recommend creating a line that the principal evaluates and provides feedback and a formal coach or team of teachers work together to improve. #memspachat
A2: We have 2 new members of our Admin team this year. We looked at what was working and what wasn’t and had teachers help develop goals so we could succeed! #memspachat
A5: #LeadershipMatters thanks to @debbiemcfalone & @rewiredprinK2 for helping me develop my mission, belief statements & count on me/count on you... shared with my entire team opening days. Asked them to hold me accountable! POWERFUL! #MEMSPAchat
A5) setting goals for self is tough. Just like running a race I have an A B and C goal. I am proud to meet any of them. If you set them too high you get frustrated! #MEMSPAchat
A5: In my new role, I look at "where can I make the biggest impact for our students and our community?" Visiting all of the classrooms, getting a pulse on what is being taught, and where can I support and influence innovative ideas. Big challenge but I like it. #MEMSPAchat
A5: Leadership Matters has been revolutionary for me. So many things that I am doing differently, but being true to who I am. So powerful. #MEMSPAchat .
A5: I'm always setting goals (short & long term). I get restless easily, so I always want to push myself to try new things. I learn so much from my #MEMSPAchat friends & my online PLN as well as my district colleagues.
A5 - So many goals.. being more reflective, staying POSITIVE, giving more real time feedback, sharing with staff from my professional reading/learning #MEMSPAchat
A5: Transparency! I shared my professional goals for the year with my staff at our first mtg. I'm hopeful this will help me stay accountable and model "goal setting". #MEMSPAchat
A5: My goals is to be able to guide students what they need academically and socially, but also provide rationale for WHY we learn what we learn! #memspachat
A5: A friend of mine has a saying “attitude of gratitude” everyday. I have a family who loves me, a staff that I love and learn from and go hard in the paint everyday, students who inspire me and the best job in the world! #PAWSITIVE#MEMSPAchat
A5: I reflect on concerns and challenges throughout the building and school community to inform my goals. In addition to professional goals, I set personal goals to ensure self-care and balance. #MEMSPAchat
A5: Sharing and constantly referring to my vision for leadership and progress toward my goals with my staff so they can hold me accountable. It's one thing to identify it - it's another to LIVE it! #memspachat
A5: Transparency! I shared my professional goals for the year with my staff at our first mtg. I'm hopeful this will help me stay accountable and model "goal setting". #MEMSPAchat
A5: "Girl Wash Your Face" - Rachel Hollis - best book on how to make promises to yourself and keep them!!! My goals - focus on cultural and climate in the office, be intentional with initiatives, visit all of programs twice a month. #memspachat
A4) When authentic relationships with staff are in place before evaluations, the data becomes more meaningful and valued by teachers, and therefore, utilizing it for growth comes more naturally and will be embraced, not feared or dismissed. #MEMSPAchat
A good indicator of a worthy expectation is the need to push myself. I know the areas which I try to avoid. Those should make the top of my list. More PD this year and more time doing strength training. A5 #MEMSPAChat
QUESTION 6 is up on #MEMSPAchat
Remember, Question 8 this year on #MEMSPAchat will be a CHALLENGE question - something to challenge YOU to put to action...
A6: Both formal & informal meetings/conversations with staff. Ask where I am succeed and where I am falling short. Always room to grow and improve. #memspachat
A5: Working on setting those goals now. Anyone else feel like there are 1,000 different directions to go? Engagement, culture, efficiency... Ultimately, it all leads to improving instruction and impacting student growth. #MEMSPAchat
A6: Quarterly reflective conversations with my Superintendent. Asking for feedback with my counter-part, our district instructional coach @BSaidWright with whom I share an office with. We are a great team. #MEMSPAchat
A6: I type my goals and make notes about steps toward attaining them. It feels good to "check off" a goal that is met, but more often I add new goals/strategies as I make progress. #MEMSPAchat
A5: Knowing what went wrong last year and making sure it doesn’t happen again!! I had my staff reflect on my year and that helped me to gain a perspective on what I need to work on. #MEMSPAchat
A6: @mccreah10, inspired me to create an accountability scorecard calendar that hangs on my door to keep a running tally of my progress toward my goals. Staff can always see how I'm doing with reaching my goals and can hold me accountable! #memspachat
A5: I want to continue to be a leader by being innovative in the classroom, help strengthen science curriculum with ms with PLCs and observations with hs PLC, train district in Schoology, and support new teachers by piloting a district new teacher program! #MEMSPAchat
Well said @jon_wennstrom - We should always keep learning. As soon as we stop, we've lost the passion. We must continue to grow, and it's best to do it with others. Welcome to #MEMSPAchat - BAM!
A6: Checking in with staff and be part of the learning. Finding people who will tell me what is going well, but also willing to give me feedback. I need "feedforward" too :) . #MEMSPAchat
A6 - find your tribe! Have authentic conversations to keep yourself accountable.
I am so very blessed to have a rich tribe of educators to support me to be the best admin I can be and strive for continuous improvement! #MEMSPAchat

Awesome! I had two similar questions for my leadership team: What did we do really well that we must make sure we keep doing? What didn't we do that we must to do this year? #MEMSPAchat
A6: Regular meetings are scheduled with my principals/coordinators and leads. Following protocols, I also use a Passion Planner #memspachathttps://t.co/TJPMVCrnjG
A5: My goal is to use my “Mobile student support center” daily. Being present in the hallways working will allow me to support students in need more promptly. #MEMSPAchat
A6: Try to check a little of the list everyday. It’s the smaller details sometimes that make the bigger gains in my experience. Dialogue, spend time watching others do their craft, and don’t be afraid to ask for help. #MEMSPAchat
A7: We will all be tracking progress toward our goals by creating and documenting "Milestones" throughout the year. These milestones will contribute to feedback conversations. That way, there are no surprises at the end of the year. #memspachat
A7: It will be felt throughout the school all year long. The relationships we have matter & if the buzz is filled with joy we will know we are succeeding! #MEMSPAchat
A7 Growth and reaching for high goals is most important. IF goals are not met--reflect and celebrate the good and learn how to reach it the next time. #MEMSPAchat
Hey #MEMSPAchat peeps - Have YOU registered for the @MEMSPA Annual Conference? It's the best conference of the year!
So much leading and learning here. CLICK HERE: https://t.co/9eMdpZ7b5P to check it out.
A7: Time is a valuable thing and I feel there is no measure that will truly account for what we do with our time. We are pulled in so many directions on a daily basis. I guess if you had to measure, how many smiling faces and high fives do I have going out the door? #MEMSPAchat

A6: I share goals with my students and ask them to share theirs with me. Their feedback is brutally honest and a good gauge as to how I am doing on my efforts of serving them. #MEMSPAchat
The last question on #MEMSPAchat each week this year (Question 8) will be a "CHALLENGE" question for YOU to take back to your building and do, try, explore...
Always share it with the group on #MEMSPAchat
Let's put some action into our learning!
A6: I am always looking for feedback from staff, students and fellow administrators. I write my goals down and reflect monthly on how I am progressing and adjust from there to move toward meeting them. #memspachat
A7: Student success (assessing the whole child) and the happiness of all stakeholders are my main metrics. This year, I created two student surveys to measure climate and students' self efficacy. These instruments will be great measures. #MEMSPAchat

Q7: Surveys and informal conversations from students and staff and my own reflections will help the programs and myself to continue to grow and improve! #MEMSPAchat
A7 some sort of tracking is needed on a weekly basis. It could be a check mark when something took place ( quantity over time) or a reflective notes ( quality). Some things are harder to track or measure than others. #MEMSPAchat
A7: Don’t know if there’s a perfect algorithmfor this question, but I’m still a fan of student engagement as a sort of measurement, also how we interact during the day - both Ss & Ts. #MEMSPAchat
Q8: CHALLENGE: Add an additional personal and professional expectation and/or goal for yourself and post it on the monitor of your computer tomorrow! Share this with the #MEMSPAchat group NOW…
A8: #MEMSPAchat Challenge accepted - posting on my computer monitor tomorrow!
New Professional Goal: I'm going to get into 5 classrooms a week and sit down!
New Personal Goal: Take my wife out to dinner 30+ miles away from home monthly. No kids!
A8 l will visit and connect with staff more. I will share my passions and share my enthusiasm every day. Sunset Lake will shine with FUN this year! #MEMSPAchat
A8: 1) Make at least one positive phone call home for each student by the end of the first semester. 2) Run at least 8 miles per week. (Great idea to post on computer monitor!) #MEMSPAchat
A8: Personal - register for yoga class. Professional - provide at least 5 "feedforward" notes each week to staff, focus on the positive. #memspachat
