#LearnLAP occurs on Mondays starting at 7pm Central Time. Guest moderators and participants discuss topics from author Paul Solarz's book Learn Like a PIRATE.
Q1. We live in a technological world, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to go through a day without utilizing technology of some sort.
What technological are you using currently in your classroom. #LearnLAP
A1: Was very thankful to hear from @DrCBishop around this time last year that we would become a 1:1 district! Our Ss this year all have Chromebooks. To support their learning I created an activity called #AppsDay to introduce them to our fundamental apps for class! #learnlap
A1 Chromebooks are in all Ss hands which has allowed me to go completely digital in teaching science this year I like to doors that its opened & where the Ss are taking it #LearnLAP
A1 We are taping our performances of student created readers theatre scripts with a green screen this week so they can place themselves in Spanish Mission CA #learnlap
A1 We have 5 iPads and 2 Chromebooks in the K-2 classrooms, and 10 Chromebooks in the 3-5 classrooms. We also have carts of devices for checkout. #LearnLAP
A1: I currently have iPads and Chromebooks that the students have access too. we are not 1:1, but getting closer. I don't know what I would do with out Chromebooks! #LearnLAP
And I am never really a flower person. My interests vary, but it usually involves something pink and flamboyant. I am a pet jellyfish kind of girl these days. Too bad they are super expensive!!! https://t.co/7bAoBTXVkW#LearnLAP
A1: I encourage teachers to use as much tech as possible. This is a generation that will grow up with technology and AI and we need to get their attention. Let’s use technology to our advantage and better teach our students. 🤖 🤖🤖#LearnLAP
A1. 1:1 chromebooks in our school. What webtools we use varies from teacher to teacher. Most use the usual Google suite of products. Most integrate HMH's ThinkCentral for GoMath and Journeys (reading). After that, it's whatever tools you like.
#LearnLAP
A1: I will use iPads for students to do research and I have used @quizlet as a way for my students to practice retrieving what we have learned.
#learnlap
Not really newish, but I couldn't imagine not having tech in the classroom. Started with it during student teaching, I don't think I could go back #stoneage#learnlap
A1: District-wide = Chrome Books, Google Classroom, iPads, Smart Boards. Personally, I like sketchnoting (on paper or with tech), StoryBoard That, Flipgrid, Kahoot, and Khan Academy. #learnlap
A2: I do a lot in flipped classroom with my classes right now (not homework, in class work). Students are using it effectively to view demonstrations and gain content knowledge #LearnLAP
A1. I’m not in a classroom this year but our district has 1:1 Chromebooks, @Clevertouch boards, SMART boards, doc cameras, speakers, microphones, + more. #learnlap
Q1. We live in a technological world, where it is becoming increasingly difficult to go through a day without utilizing technology of some sort.
What technological are you using currently in your classroom. #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP We have a lab with 28 workstations with PCs. A chromecart shared through the school. Kids use their phones for QR codes with tsk cards, but I haven't been able to fully implement the VR stuff yet. We do microbits and Scratch and Sphero.
A2: My crew wants to make a Google Slide deck for everything! Slides about their weekend, about the differenct ducks of TN, even about what they notice and wonder from our new reading curriculum. They love Slides! #LearnLAP
A2: I am really enjoying introducing Google Classroom to my Ss & learning more about it myself. It allows me to give academic learning opportunities while helping Ss learn how to use tech @ the same time #LearnLAP
#learnlap Q2. I have used Seesaw this year for students to document and reflect on learning. We are also completing a digital field trial for earth science through Concord Consortium
"Let’s use technology to our advantage and better teach our students"
That's the key! And the challenge. For tech to not be a gimmick, it must be used in a way that enriches a student's education and helps them learn more.
#LearnLAP
A2: Years ago I used tech as a way to engage students in their learning. I've since transitioned to use it as a way for students to show their learning, not review it. #LearnLap
A2. Effectively? Excellent Q. Not sure how you want to define that. Students produce work & show their thinking. But will I be taken outside and beaten if I admit that I am less sure they use it effectively & am more sure it's simply what they are less annoyed to use?
#LearnLAP
I’m out tomorrow. I had our tech guy install @JoeZooApp so I can easily give student feedback while im away. It really frees up my time in the classroom and outside. Feedback is more effective #learnlap
A2 My Ss used @WeVideo to make a Nat'l Park welcome video as we studied the water & rock cycle Had Ss all over the board as far as experience which made the class very collaborative #LearnLAP
A2: My students use tech to leverage what’s presented in class and for independent practice. Like using @ixl for math and ELA. Also use it to organize, interact w peers, etc. #learnlap
A2. This is hard one. Everyone knows technology. Not everyone knows how to use technology for learning and teaching. We have done Podcasting, Vlogging, and remixing. This is the world in which they live. #LearnLAP
As a millennial teacher and a digital native, I'm sometimes a bit wary that we are too eager to use technology because it's shiny and new. It takes a lot to get me to adopt a piece of tech. It has to transform. #learnlap
A2: this year, I started using @getwritable , which allows kids (and me) to give feedback to each other and Ss to align their writing with checklists #learnlap
I create video demonstrations of certain problems, work for teaching Accounting, Word, Excel. Students watch in class at their pace, and I walk around answering questions as necessary #LearnLAP
It’s my job to help train them! :-) I wish teachers had more TIME to soak in the amazing possibilities. As an educator, we are sometimes pulled 15 directions. #learnlap
A2: Phones for QR codes really help middle schoolers stay engaged. Flippity in Google Sheets is exciting for them as a results tracker, bingo or name picker. Scratch is popular right now but microbits are the bomb!!! #LearnLAP
I had to for a college class lol I had no idea it had a name. Doing interactive slides seemed like a great way to differentiate. Recently @NBVeazey showed me how to make master slides which makes it even easier #learnlap
In reply to
@ReadersLeadPD, @Miss_D_Valenti, @PearDeck, @padlet, @NBVeazey
A2: Collaboration with each other, wanting them to collaborate with others outside our walls, create authentic learning experiences, also get real time feedback of learning. #LearnLAP
I’m too nervous to leave @Flipgrid for a sub. I have one class that gets noisy and then the ohh I hate my voice/face/whatever starts and the photobombing #learnlap
In reply to
@Miss_D_Valenti, @JoeZooApp, @Flipgrid, @Flipgrid
A2: My crew wants to make a Google Slide deck for everything! Slides about their weekend, about the differenct ducks of TN, even about what they notice and wonder from our new reading curriculum. They love Slides! #LearnLAP
A2: We have iPad carts in the classroom plus two labs. We have some programs that students use like see-saw, Istation, Lexia etc, but teachers are encouraged to explore and integrate technology into their lessons. #LearnLAP
Q3. For most professions, and certainly for many students who will go into the military and college, technology will be a big part of their lives.
How do you model this in your classroom? #LearnLAP
🍎
A2: iPads are great for research. @Quizlet is great for #retrievalpractice.
I try to keep it simple. That makes it so much easier for students to effectively use a tool. Remove the room for error.
#learnlap
A3: While teaching Career & Technical Education, I feel this transitions seemless. Most of our topics are career related and the technology is used to show how it works for their future... #LameAnswer#LearnLAP
A3 To echo @kruevans the tech has to have purpose & that has to be modeled by the teacher When Ts use tech to enhance Ss will see the benefits, but not rely on it #LearnLAP
Right! Using technology to use it isn't the answer, so there has to be something a student gains by using the tool. We're lucky to have really great technology support in our school, but more people need to use them to understand how technology truly integrates. #LearnLAP
A3 use the tech to encourage collaboration and critical thinking. I use the first answer on a padlet to group students to answer the rest. Also encourage S to think through the process #learnlap
A2: Technology alone would be a waste. However, when we begin seeing it as a way to extend the learning process— that’s where the magic happens. Think about this. A student struggles to pay attention during instructions. If we make a video he can replay til he gets it. #learnlap
A2 I use Canvas as a way to hold content and lessons. If I am absent the students go through modules to stay on tract rather than do "busy work". We also use many apps as a way to assess such as Flipgrid and we use Google Drive to assist with project collaboration. #LearnLAP
A3: We have a technology club that meets every Friday along with many other clubs. Students explore technological advances and the latest tech out there. Teachers also encourage this during their lessons. #LearnLAP
A2b. Students collaborate with technology. Working on the same assignment all together, all at once. Each student gets a job and because of revision history - everyone is held accountable. #magic#learnlap
A3 Digital citizenship (or just citizenship) is a must when technology is all around the students. They may be digital natives, but that doesn't mean they know how to make good choices with it. #LearnLAP
A3: Making sure it is relevant to the task. I don't want to try to force a square peg in a round hole. Sometimes tech works best... sometimes it doesn't. #learnlap
A3: We use technology to both learn and present the learning. That presenting piece has been a learning curve for me. Students need to understand technology can serve so many purposes. #LearnLAP
Tech gives Ts the opportunity to bring Ss together! I get worried when I see Ss all working individually, I want them working together using their technology #LearnLAP
I try to model balance.
They create through apps & sites, but they need to unplug, too. They don't know how.
Modeling the balance is my goal.
Modeling selecting the right tool for the right job rather than the same tool for everything is another goal of mine.
#LearnLAP
Q3. For most professions, and certainly for many students who will go into the military and college, technology will be a big part of their lives.
How do you model this in your classroom? #LearnLAP
🍎
A3 S also need to know how to effectively google. It is a skill to determine the right word/phrase to get the results you need. Perfect skill to practice in ELA #LEARNLAP
Maybe you can use Screencastify to show slides with an agenda or to project + explain the assignment you want students to do in your absence? It doesn't solve every issue, but it might be a good middle ground between regular sub plans + Flipgrid. #LearnLAP
In reply to
@ADDEnglishTeach, @Miss_D_Valenti, @JoeZooApp, @Flipgrid
A3: I think the big part of tech use is showing them it’s a TOOL. sometimes it’s helpful, sometimes something else is helpful. Reflecting on learning experiences and how efficient we were as learners and creators with tools is key. We have to make reflection be natural #learnlap
A3: We start by stressing acceptable usage of tech. Then we talk about navigating and interacting appropriately (writing formal emails, interacting online appropriately, etc.). Digital citizenship so important. #learnlap
I teach in Taiwan, so all my students are ELL. I have found that I need strict rules about translation apps/asking a friend to translate because students naturally want to use it as a crutch. When used well, they can be helpful though!
#LearnLAP
A3: I have them read and write as much as possible. They can learn a piece of technology especially at the speed of new tech these days, but literacy and good clear thinking and the ability to express it, will always be a rare and valuable skill set. #learnlap
I use groups of 3 or 4 which gives the opportunity to have them work & think together as they use technology We whiteboard a lot in science & that collaboration model needs to flow into tech use #LearnLap
A3 I try to model how to leave feedback and email. My students struggle with both, and I think it is important for them to learn how to reply properly to others. #LearnLAP
Q4. Opportunities and exposure a child has to technology at school, the less intimidated they will be by technology as they grow up and the more prepared they will be for their occupation. What are some ways to lessen the intimidation so student can access technology? #LearnLAP
In ELA we give peer feedback, buddy up for reading/reflection. I like to give them a tool to record their answers. @PearDeck is great for this #LearnLAP
A3: Use what is beneficial for the task. Don't use what isn't. Don't use apps because they are fun. Use them if they help students learn more. Focusing on progress doesn't remove fun/joy it makes it easier for students to improve. This improve will bring the fun.
#learnlap
A3. Find out what they are using now (SnapChat, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube) and develop lessons around them. Once they see relevance you will get buy-in. Creating powerpoints don't cut it any more. #LearnLAP
Right! Getting students to use a tool that's "right" (there may be more than one!) for the task at hand is really important. Thinking through that process + making reflective decisions is as vital as learning how to use the tool itself. Process is greater than product! #LearnLAP
A3: We simply use it when it is appropriate to do so. We sometimes have conversations about how technology is used in different professions - like how tech is used extensively in the medical field while the legal profession is virtually all reading & writing. #learnlap
A3: Well, as far as modeling goes, I tell them that typing 30 words per minute in college rather than 90 wpm meant that I was in the dorm typing for three hours while my friends were out on the courts shooting hoops for two of those hours. So Learn Keyboarding #LearnLAP
A4: I am new to 1:1, and I can say I was far more hesitant than my 8 year olds! We just dove in! Lots of ESC and ⬅️, but we’ve definitely fingured out a ton and built some major confidence. #LearnLAP
Access & time are the key. If technology can be a natural, intentional, and consistent part of their education Ss will be less intimidated #MyOpinion#LearnLAP
#learnlap A4. I don't know how what I would do without DonorsChoose to write projects for the tech that students want to experience, 3D printers, telepresence, NAO Robot. Students co-write project requests for what they want to learn in tech.
A3 Tech is a collection of tools that should be used to enhance the lesson and promote mastery. Keep it student centered. If it isn’t going to benefit your students, don’t use it. #LearnLAP
A4: This is tough being at the high school, because by this point most of them have at least accepted it. But the best I can do is scaffold and give them small things that help, or things they can do. Small successes lead to bigger ones #LearnLAP
If the student knows title to no English, I think it’s an amazing tool. Is it perfect? No. However, it’s better than the student becoming 100% lost. It’s better for them to use the resource as a crutch than to understand nothing. They’ll begin to pick up on English. #learnlap
Q5. Technology allows any student more opportunities to learn at their own pace. How do we promote this practice so students are successful? #LearnLAP
⁉️❓
A3 As a teacher of writing I stress the importance of the skill by encouraging Ss to write with purpose on a daily basis. The same is true for #edtech. Purposeful integration and modeling provide opportunities for Ss to see and discover importance. #learnlap
A4: Ordinary reassurance wins the day. As the tech teacher, I let them know I make mistakes all of the time and need help and have to Google answers, too. #LearnLAP
Maybe I've been doing this too long (only 12 years) but I can't imagine them being intimidated by tech.
We've got Kindergartners who can't tie shoes, but can navigate an iPhone better than I can.
#LearnLAP
Q4. Opportunities and exposure a child has to technology at school, the less intimidated they will be by technology as they grow up and the more prepared they will be for their occupation. What are some ways to lessen the intimidation so student can access technology? #LearnLAP
A1: At the elementary & middle levels we have Mac carts, iPads with keyboards, and computer labs. At the high school, students are 1:1 and each has his/her own MacBook Air. From there, we have access to about a billion (maybe a few less) apps, software, and tech tools! #learnlap
A3: We use technology seamlessly in our classroom in a variety if ways-to consume info, process info and to create. We also use it as a tool of communication, within and outside of the classroom. However it never replaces the humanity of our classroom. #LearnLAP
A4: Make it relevant, but also be careful to not make it the "be all, end all." We want our students to be prepared for their futures, that also means be prepared to operate without. For example: Our school was without internet a big part of last week. We still worked! #learnlap
A5: I usually will talk about my experiences completing Grad School online. I also have to demonstrate how I would go about learning using technology #LearnLAP
A4: find tools that are easy for the students to use. Use them to give effective feedback for the kids. If the tool complicated the learning— ditch it. #LearnLAP
A5: I use several apps allowing me to assign books, gives everyone access to topic through a book they can understand. @Flipgrid allows differentiation by its very nature. Ss can record as little or as much as they want. #LearnLAP
I give a group of at your own pace assignments and supplements with time sensitive tasks. My hyperdocs are more critical thinking and less right/wrong #LearnLAP
A4: Just include technology in your lessons!! When they ask ?s, help them help themselves by showing how to solve their problems. Remember, even the IT team uses Google to solve tech problems #learnlap
A4: I’ve found that our students are never afraid with technology. They are always willing to try something, or interact with new app or device. Our teaching surrounds using tech effectively. #learnlap
Q4 Our middle schools use Canvas in nearly all classes and students. Since I teach 5th grade I figured it was my duty to teach student how to access and use Canvas in order to prepare them for middle and high school. This is also the same for drive. #LearnLAP
A2: Students are using technology to take virtual field trips. This might be prescribed or by student choice! Love me some virtual field trips. 😊 Any time I can get kiddos "out" we get learning "in." #learnlap
A5 This is going to open a Pandora's Box, but are we as Ts adjusting the time we give Ss to give us their best on work/projects? Being flexible w/due dates will allow Ss to control pace & use technology efficiently in the process #LearnLAP
That is box that needs to be opened!! It shouldn't matter how long it takes for a student to master the concept, as long as mastery occurs. Open that box! #LearnLAP
Q5. Technology allows any student more opportunities to learn at their own pace. How do we promote this practice so students are successful? #LearnLAP
⁉️❓
This is really a mindset question: what's our reaction when we encounter something new + unfamiliar? I would hope my students would try it out, reflect, and try it again until they improved + I think most would. We can also give them feedback that might help, too. #LearnLAP
A5 Canvas modules allow me to create a course layout that students can do at their own pace. I also post things that we do in class and You Tube videos for my students to go back if they need to. #LearnLAP
Q6. Technology is much like every other tool in a classroom: some people see it as a benefit and others see it as a distraction.
How could you impress to a co-work it’s benefit? #LearnLAP
A3: I don't know if this counts as actual modeling, but I have people in those fields talk to my students to share how they implement and depend on technology in their daily lives! #learnlap
I hear ya. That's why balance, to me, is the greatest "tech" skill I can give my Ss.
They need exposure to different types of tools, too, to be sure. But they will always have tech as an integrated part of their lives. #learnlap
That is where I am heading as a teacher Ss are all different & have diff obstacles We need to be aware & adjust so we don't put Ss off to completing their work #LearnLAP
A5: Always stress growth mindset, whether with tech or without. Just because you don’t get something the first time doesn’t mean it won’t come later on. Patience and persistence always! #learnlap
#LearnLAP
A6: I try to help others find a tool that works for them. Start with what will most compliment what is already happening in your classroom everyday...and to take small steps so they aren’t overwhelmed. #LearnLAP
I do have some students that want to always be right and are paralyzed by the fear of making mistakes. Sometimes technology is intimidating to those kiddos. #LearnLAP
A6 As long as the technology is used for learning, it's beneficial to the students. A worksheet on an iPad is still boring, and drill and kill in game form is still drill and kill. #LearnLAP
A6: Show off student work to them. Another point is to talk about what is going on. I spoke with a colleague about what a student did on their science project for another class, using Google Slides skills they learned from my class to demonstrate osmosis. #LearnLAP
This fall under the category, "How I wish I would have been taught" We all know from our experiences the benefits of Ss pacing modification Time to make it the norm #LearnLap
Q6 For me the benefit is allowing students to show me what they have learned in different ways. I think we have to let teachers come into our rooms and let them see how the technology works and how the students are using it in a positive way. #learnlap
A5 Select digital tools with S outcomes in mind. How can my kids create with this tool, does it fit with my learning target, what data can I glean from it to better know my kids? Tech tool selection needs to shift more to what can my Ss gain vs what can the T gain #LearnLAP
Fair point! 'Tech' *is* indeed another skill they need to learn.
So, are tech comfort and tech proficiency academic skills or those peripheral, support "soft" skills?
#pandorasboxpart2#LearnLAP
A6: I’ve had this problem. I think it’s important for them to see the difference in what a kid can produce. Obviously, tech is naturally distracting (to us too). That’s where we come in! We need to help the kids become aware of their distractions, so they’re in control. #learnlap
A6 The way to get teachers invested in tech is to convince them it isn’t an add on...it is a change of pedagogy that can improve student learning. Of course...convincing Ts can be challenging! #LearnLAP
#LearnLAP
A7: for me it’s not an app, but more iPads/computers....some things are more difficult to implement b/c of that...being 1:1 would really help. Our county has added a lot, but more would be great. #LearnLAP
A6 - I wouldn’teven start with the technology first, I would talk to the T about their learning goals for the lesson and prior experience. Then I would look to find the right tool to enhance what is already being done #learnlap
A4: We don't see an issue with Ss being intimidated since they have access to since kinder. What I see is a lack of proficiency. My Ss rate themselves highly proficient because they mistakingly think social media is technology. Lack of proficiency is a big problem! #learnlap
A6: Sometimes I worry that teachers tend to be too easily impressed by technology. Our brains love novelty and technology can often times be novel. I would rather impress teachers w/evidence of learning, not the tech tool itself. #LearnLAP
I need playdough, paint, mannequins... I have all the tech I need. Now to hit the art aspects and learning opportunities for visual and kinetic #learnlap
A7 I scream for equity & balance Equity in access for all my Ss, both at school & at home Balance that integrates a proper level of technology, where tech is the seasoning to a great meal of learning #LearnLap
A6: Show them. Show them how you use tech, show them how the students are using tech, and show them some of the final products created with tech. Then share ideas that they may want to try. #learnlap
A7 I would love to see myself go deeper in using tech tools to differentiate more. I mean, beyond audio books and video. Really using tech to help level the playing field for our littles with special needs #personalgoals#LearnLAP#autismmom
I treat risk taking with tech tools just like I would treat risk taking with any other "unplugged" activity. It's so important to learn to adopt a fail forward mentality no matter what type of task it is. #LearnLAP
I'm screaming #SEL. I'm/we're very fortunate to have amazing tech resources. What I'm combating is social isolationism. Many of you mentioned Ss working separately, not collaboratively via tech.
Methinks there is a link betwixt the two.
#LearnLAP
true, it is the creative side of teachers to find the true balance! #learnlap You are appreciated by your students for taking the time to find the balanced approach for their journey during the learning process. :)
A7 I would love to see myself go deeper in using tech tools to differentiate more. I mean, beyond audio books and video. Really using tech to help level the playing field for our littles with special needs #personalgoals#LearnLAP#autismmom
Q7. More PD on how to effectively use technology in the classroom. A worksheet is a worksheet. Putting it in Google Classroom does not make it any better. #LearnLAP
On the flip side, I think we also must be cognizant of the time incorporating technology may increase the duration of a unit, if it does not increase the engagement #LearnLAP
A7: More chances for learning to win over the technology!
I often reflect on my lessons wondering if the task would be as engaging w/out the tech. If not, tech wins and learning loses. #LearnLAP
A7: I'm screaming for less quantity and more quality of instruction. And, if tech can help with that, then that's even better. But, let's take the time we need to master what we are learning. #learnlap
A7 screaming for pedagogy that truly brings creativity to every leasson for every learner. Bridging that big gap between lofty 4Cs and classroom practice. #LearnLAP
A5: I really like to put together TED Talk menus. When we start a new unit or create learning goals, I create a choice menu for Ss to use to enhance or extend their learning. They love this! The variety of talks available allows them to personalize their learning! #learnlap
A7 I am screaming for more opportunity for my students to get technology and wifi at home. If schools are going to expect it from students they should be able to offer more support for those who don't have the capability. And more time to teach how to use technology. #learnlap
A6: tech gives us the ability to create individual learning paths and the ability to collaborate with others outside our school walls like none other. Also imitate skills needed for future jobs. #LearnLAP
A7: More books! I love reading to my class, because I can weave so much learning into picture books. I have spent a lot of money on the books I want for my crew. As long as they ask for me to read to them, I’ll keep looking for books to hook them! #learnlap#inspiringreaders
Q8. Time to Share! (1) Share some of your favorite websites, apps or devices & explain why you like them. (2) Share something you want others to know about, but hasn’t come up yet regarding technology. (3) Share some positive takeaways from our chat this evening! #LearnLAP
I think we also need to trust students to shape the learning environment to what they need it to be + part of that includes figuring out how to navigate technology-related distractions. We can give feedback + help them, but they need to make some choices for themselves. #LearnLAP

A8: part 1- @Flipgrid for it’s versatility, works for every subject! @ClassDojo class stories, student portfolios, parent communication, toolkit, this list goes on!! Google classroom, love the tech skills it give the Ss #LearnLAP
A& While I am screaming about things I want, can I also have a STEAM class that I can teach students how to use STEAM to create, problem solve, and connect with authentic audiences.... Dream job right there! #LearnLap
A1 macbooks, @SpheroEdu, makey makey, padlet, @Flipgrid, @OneNoteEDU, Scratch. All the tech is meaningful and doesn't replace traditional tools but enhances them. #LearnLAP
A8: https://t.co/Ix4e4W9OkV is something that I have been playing around with, and continuing to look for more ways to create a collaborative culture in the classroom #LearnLAP
A8: Since I shared my faves in Q1, I would like to share about #LoveTeaching Week which begins Thurs. It's a great time for us to remember what it is we ❤ about our job. Check out https://t.co/OfTCMOZXjm for ideas & follow @LoveTeaching19 to win great prizes this week! #LearnLAP
Thank you #LearnLAP You ALL amaze me w/ the contributions this evening. Please stay in touch as we continue to foster growth in our profession. Teachers are amazing professionals. Let's go other there tomorrow and shine bright, invite others to observe you in practice.
A8: part 2- yes! @Nikcal88! Was just going to say @ProdigyGame! I have total buy in from my Ss on this! Tried in years ago & didn’tget that, but this group LOVES it! #LearnLAP
A8 There are so many, but many of the apps have been talked about already! My favorite app might be FlipGrid and Quizizz. I am loving some of the ways we are using technology in the class and the focus on being intentional with it. #LearnLAP
A7: I'm actually not screaming for more technology! My district supplies me w/more than I could learn to use well. 🍀 However, I'm on the hunt for better formative assessment & collaboration tools/apps. I'd ❤️ it if anyone could share some here for high school Ss. #learnlap
I couldn’t agree more. When we make decisions for Ss, we not only disempower them, but we will also have the same issue recur over and over and over. #LearnLAP
Always been a fan of @padlet to show thinking, share resources, and even as an exit slip tool. My 6th gr co-teacher, @pjcerullo, uses @flipgrid a lot. Ss are engaged. Still not my comfort zone yet. #LearnLAP
Q8. Time to Share! (1) Share some of your favorite websites, apps or devices & explain why you like them. (2) Share something you want others to know about, but hasn’t come up yet regarding technology. (3) Share some positive takeaways from our chat this evening! #LearnLAP
A2 @SandersSMES students are able to schedule their own day with learning activities they schedule through @OneNoteEDU and small group mini lessons for clarification. They also use tech to collaborate on plans and simulate their plans using 3d models and 3d printing.
#LearnLAP
I wish I could like this a million times! Our goal is not control + disempower our students, our goal is to help them use their agency to make the best decisions for them. This never happens if it's just about compliance. #LearnLAP
Smart to use @padlet as exit slip tool! Thank you for sharing the idea and evaluation indicator we all can master before the next observation! #LearnLAP

Thanks for a FABULOUS chat, #learnlap crew!! I’m thankful for the ideas, but more grateful for the new connections. You guys are rockstars ⭐️ have a great night
A4 there must be a purpose to the tech other than the cool factor. Otherwise it is a toy and there will be little impact on tech integration later in life.
#LearnLAP
A82: this is going to sound dumb. I want a ball that has a sensor that measures time and distances and creates real time graphs and collects real time data. #LearnLAP
