Good morning--please join me in moment of joy-filled prayer. Whatever worries weigh on you, know that God is ready to carry them for you.
Good morning #CatholicEdChat. I’ll be popping in and out this morning as I prepare for interviews for the #Classof2022! But I am really looking forward to this topic
A1: my family members are my faith role models, but I've had many teachers throughout my education that have also guided me as great Catholic role models! #CatholicEdChat
A1: My first role models were my parents, but my second grade teacher, Sr. Immaculata, really helped me learn to love the Mass at a young age by teaching us the traditional songs. #CatholicEdChat
A1 I can’t say I have just one. I have been blessed to have so many people pass through my life who have shown me/shared with me examples of faithful living. #CatholicEdChat
A1 In terms of being raised as a Catholic, both parents very influenced by the Franciscans, my Grandmother was Third Order Franciscan-SFO. As a teacher St De La Salle (Principal Patron Saint of Teachers)
#catholicedchat
Morning! Melissa from Atchison KS, 6-8 Soc Studies. Just back from Adoration then leaving in a few mins to make king cakes for parish Mardi Gras—busy AM! #CatholicEdChat
A1. My grandma and parents reallydeveloped my faith early on, but my college campus ministry and time in @BCUCTC were also very formative. #CatholicEdChat
A1: My grandma. Absolutely. Model of faith, daily Masses, helping the poor, sacrificing to the point of martyring. Absolutely awesome woman of faith. #CatholicEdChat
Spiritual Formation is always ongoing. I’ve had the chances throughout life to listen to true experts, absolute giants. I was taught scripture at post-graduate level by one of the collaborators for ‘The Jerusalem Bible’ used in Australia for the Lectionary
#catholicedchat
A2: my diocese has a faith formation program over 2-3 years. It's designed around the Catechism and involves teachers from different schools. #CatholicEdChat
A2.1: We used to start our school year with a faculty/staff retreat, and it was a lovely way to come back together after summer, and remember why we chose to be Catholic educators. #CatholicEdChat
A2 I went to public school as a child, so my CCD classes were basis of my spiritual formation. Going to a Jesuit college informed my beliefs in social justice. #CatholicEdChat
A2. @CSOboston provided a retreat in the summer for new principals and also an Advent day of reflection that I found very helpful. Also love following @blessedisshe__ and @JamesMartinSJ on social media. #CatholicEdChat
A2
Sydney Catholic Schools has an extensive accreditation of RE Teachers, which requires ongoing formation. We have an Adult Faith Formation Team to assist with this!
#catholicedchat
A2 #CatholicEdChat Very early in my tenure, our adult chaplain, Joe Taylor, sought me out as a new hire to introduce me to Ignatian spirituality. Also Jesuit Apostolic Seminar program @LoyolaAcademy. Both were jump-starters to adult faith form8n.
A2: Past training....in @archstl Ts are required to become certified to teach religion classes, and these classes have always been spiritually fulfilling. And highly awesome. https://t.co/6sD5JmK4I6 - some are offered online - for YOU! #CatholicEdChat
A2: The Emmaus Series through @RocheCenter and my @Creighton EdD program. Unfortunately all required certifications were public school models. Proud public school grad, but the focus and purposes need to be different for Catholic Schools! #CatholicEdChat

A3: I attend daily Mass three mornings each week before school; I'm reading about Lectio Divina so I can start that form of prayer soon; read the daily scriptures as part of my prayer each morning. #CatholicEdChat
A3. Currently looking forward to journeying through Lent with my @blessedisshe__ prayer journal. Also, any time spent with spirit-filled colleagues! #CatholicEdChat
As Catholic organizations, we need to make sure we are providing meaningful opportunities for this. For our next question, please continue to share on your personal experience. Q4 #catholicedchat
A3: Daily rosaries (I prayed using the one from @BarbInNebraska this morning), daily Mass when I can, listening to the daily readings in my car each morning, Adoration. #CatholicEdChat
Community is also really important. A few key friends + weekly Bible Study. Once or twice a month, my dept. tries to get together to read Scripture & share life. #CatholicEdChat
A3 #CatholicEdChat Daily prayer: https://t.co/RWyoiQrQ8v, daily school-wide Examen. Reading & monthly gathering of neighbrhood spirituality group of three couples.
A4: we have monthly prayer services for faculty. We also go to mass weekly with our school community. There are also days when we meet with class prayer buddies. All reminders of our faith. #CatholicEdChat
I’m hoping after this program, I will be able to do the Leading Inclusive Schools program at @GCCE_LUC Thankful Catholic Higher Ed has taken the necessary lead in powerful, faith-based PD. I wish there was more of a local focus. #catholicedchat
In reply to
@KristinBMelley, @RocheCenter, @Creighton, @GCCE_LUC
A4: We have a reatreat at the start of the year, prayer before meetings, and the Hallmarks Retreat opportunity. We have not been successful in creating and sustaining an adult faith formation component. Would love to hear success stories from other schools... #CatholicEdChat
A4. We have monthly school Masses that are spiritually enriching thanks to @jackgraham749. We start and end each day praying together as a school community. Faculty meetings begin and end with prayer. Faculty Mass in August, staff retreat in March. #CatholicEdChat

@AtchisonSbcs is amazing for supporting Ts & Ss spiritual growth. We have Mass 2x a wk (and attend as staff on PD days), chances to receive sacrament of confession w classes, service projects, & lots of reflection. We also have School of Faith for Ts. #CatholicEdChat
I usually can get to daily mass twice in a week at school, once during the school day & once before. Also offer First Friday Adoration, which students & staff are encouraged to sign up for. #CatholicEdChat
Does anyone do a weekly chat on upcoming Sunday scripture? Informal, rotate bagels and coffee before the day begins, among colleagues? Whoever comes, comes? #CatholicEdChat
A4: We have weekly Masses for students and teachers and reconciliation services for each grade level. Unfortunately, as a specialty teacher, I don't get to attend these very often. #CatholicEdChat

A4 Adult chaplain for spiritual direction, retreats, daily Mass, daily forced pause for Examen, mission-infused mentor program for new T hires. Even a pilgrimage! #CatholicEdChat
School prayers, weekly School Mass, prayer at faculty and staff meetings, faculty retreats, gathering for rosary in the grotto for special intention #catholicedchat
A4 Daily mass, all school retreats, staff retreats, supporting me attending LifeTeen Women’s retreat. Starting Friday, we will do 33 days to Morning Glory with Ts and Ss and will consecrate our school to Mary on March 23. #CatholicEdChat
A5: The archdiocese brought in the School of Faith program. I wish they would bring back the annual conference they used do in the fall. I enjoyed meeting and learning from teachers throughout the archdiocese. #CatholicEdChat
A5: we aren’t a Diocesan school so we have to “make our own way”. Curious to hear what support others get. Maybe we can modify some ideas for our campus...#catholicedchat
A5. @RCABKMEARS starts weekly webinars and newsletters with prayer! Also new principals’ retreat and Advent day of reflection. Most recent newsletter included great Lenten resources! #CatholicEdChat
A4 @the_Madeleine the Ts form reflection cohorts and over the courseof the year reflect on our core values: Prayer Study Community and Service #CatholicEdChat
A5: The @archstl is awesome. There’s a LOT of stuff. The best thing before the school year starts is the Religious Ed Institute....imagine Mass with thousands of Catholic school teachers in a gorgeous church. #CatholicEdChat

The work of the Religious Education & Evangelisation Team (which I belong to) at Sydney Catholic Schools In Faith Formation, RE, Leadership is extensive.

A5 our diocese hosts an Annual Catechetical Conference and our diocesan schools office has an annual PD for teachers with a faith component. Also a principals retreat #CatholicEdChat

Totally agree! It’s jut like everything else in our lives. IF we don’t nourish it and constantly give time and attention, our spiritual growth with stop. #CatholicEdChat
A6. Honest response: depends on the day. Grateful for many experiences to “fill my well” as well as “God-incidences” that surprise and remind me how much I am loved by my Creator. THAT love sustains me through the less fulfilling days. #CatholicEdChat
Fr. Michael Gaitley has some great books. The One Thing is Three has more teachings, but ties in well to spiritual/ personal life. His others are more prayer/devotional based. All great & accessible for all levels of faith development. #CatholicEdChat
A6: I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived. Thoreau #CatholicEdChat
A6: Honestly, some days, yes; some days, no. I think that's the nature of spirituality and life--some days are better than others, but there is always hope and room for growth. #CatholicEdChat
Far more personal spiritual life, but phenomenal (and short!) are books by Fr. Jacques Philippe. I just finished Time For God with my seniors. #CatholicEdChat
I'm so uplifted by folks' experience of our tradition.
Next question--challenges us to think about some of the gaps in our experience and knowledge of the faith.

A6 I don't think we are fully until we are in heaven. Yet, there are moments of consolation. For me it's in prayer, when God reveals himself in people and when I look up. #catholicedchat
Time for me to run. This has been a great conversation, thank you @KristinBMelley. Always good to connect with this group! It is such a lovely way to start the weekend. Have a great start to Lent everyone and enjoy your weekend. #CatholicEdChat
A7: learning from Bishop Barron is important at this point for me. He has profound insights. This AM I heard him say, the story of the Bible is not people seeking God, but God seeking his people. God seeks each of us out. #CatholicEdChat
An important learning I desire would have to be a better understanding of Scripture. And there’s always room for learning more about prayer. #catholicedchat
A7. I would like to better know the Bible and all its characters, who have much to teach us about a lived faith! Along the same lines, I am always trying to learn more about the Saints, as well as the reasons we do everything we do! #CatholicEdChat
A7 Learning about the ways in which others are inspired helps to fill the gaps - Your bringing the discussion today to #catholicedchat is uplifting @BarbInNebraska
