We chat every Tuesday night at 8:30-9:30 pm CST. All are welcome, especially EarlyEd teachers, leaders & experts. Co-founded & moderated by @techwnancy @JessicaCabeen & @VealHeidi
Hi #ecechat! I'm Sara, a K teacher in Lake Tahoe, NV. We have Feb break this week and I xc skied the past 3 days down near Mammoth, CA. Not sure what's happening w my hair here. 😂
Hi! My name is Kayla Krebs and I'm from Twinsburg, Ohio. I'm a student at Kent State University studying Early Childhood Education with a minor in Special Education. I also work at an Early Childhood Center called The Goddard School! #ecechat#barbersclass@barbersclass
Hey #ecechat leaders! Greg- Pre-K, Maryland. Checking in via mobile tonight. Missing TweetDeck, lol, but glad to connect with each of you again this evening.
Welcome to #ECEchat Kayla! Cheers to you for participating in a twitter chat as a preservice teacher! I only wish I had built a PLN early as a teacher. So glad you are here tonight to connect, learn, grow, and share.

Q We are just starting a long term PBL about weather and engineering protection from dangerous weather. Could we (my class - when we're back in session) tweet to you guys for pics of your local weather? Do you have experience w this type of project? #ecechat
Giving yourself permission to take a break. A day off, a good book, even a half day to do something you enjoy can re-energize you to do the work that you love well. #ecechat
Yes, the auditory nature of PA makes it difficult for self directed learning in centers. Also, embed it into Read Alouds!! There are so many wonderful children's books full of PA. #ecechat
Great question! I would like to make sure that educators from all levels are at the tables where decisions are being made - administrations, school boards, legislatures #ecechat
Fantastic quote!! I reflect on something new that I have created, for example, a new @DHXmusic this song that I recorded made me feel accomplished (if underappreciated by others), but still great about the things we do each day!! #ECEchat
I actually have started a list! I am ready and willing to push the envelope and make education what it needs to be. Not sure of the path, but you have to start with that first step. #ecechat
Hey all! I do pd and instructional coaching for EC teachers across many districts. What are things that you want in EC professional learning? What should I avoid? #ecechat
I try to start with different fine motor games to play with them. Then see what the can do on paper and build off that, you can make circles...you can make the letter o. #ecechat
Fit in phonemic awareness into the PreK day by playing short quick games to be played during transitions & singing silly songs that practice skills like ones that replace beginning sounds of words to create new, silly words. #ECEchat
A: Have them do some choice writing. Let them find a topic they're excited about & go from there. Of course, that can't be the only writing they do, but it would help get them excited #ecechat
Knowledge! Continuing to empower teachers with research based best practice for EC and leading school leaders to learn more about high quality ECE as well. Create a ripple effect...from the top down. #ecechat
#ECEchat This is a snapshot of me feeling motivated, I record a free song for my podcast each week, and it fires me up to plan for teaching. ! full circle of creativity.
Through my experiences. I have noticed my professors putting a huge emphasis on teaching us to be proactive teachers, and what they means for our classrooms. #ECEchat
A: I love pumpkin exploration, growing a pumpkin in a pumpkin; digital plant journals in @Seesaw; Arctic animal research; making roads out of concrete, day/night with Jack and the Beanstalk...I love science! #ecechat
I really agree with #10. I want to experience instructionally focused PD with my administration and for all of us to start on the plan together. Too often they feel/are too busy to sit with us and then I feel unsupported in the endeavor #ecechat
Yes! For sure something to think about! Schedules, routines, and the environment are similar but need intentional differences for 3 year old learners! #ECEchat
Bring EC to the respectable level it deserves with TK for kids who are not ready for K instead of having them do K twice, having the top Admin (from super to teacher) meeting and knowing what is happening at the class level; SEL from Pre-K to 12 are just a few #ecechat
Thank you! I agree, there is definitely power in the admin learning with us. Especially on things that may be out of their expertise. Ill definitely think about ways to encourage admin participation! #ecechat
Hi Rachel, I agree! I believe a big part of being a teacher means being a learner. Willing to learn and implement new evidence based practices within your class as more research is being done. And willing to constantly improve and want to do better for your students #ecechat
1st, know the child's strengths & what motivates them. I always tried to start where they are & build on their strengths & interests. Novelty is big too. Introducing @Ozobot to reluctant young writers motivated them like none other to practice writing and drawing #ECEchat
We're studying weather right now and Tahoe is experiencing some snowpocalypse type weather so it's really working out perfectly! We observe, journal, discuss, draw and write, make weather in the classroom, plan and play! #ecechat
A: SEL and trauma; what to do with truly disruptive pre-k Ss; Most classroom Ts DO NOT have the tools to deal with GenEd Ss that are truly traumatized and have the behavior that goes with it. #ecechat

oh Flipgrid! We love that platform and I sometimes forget about it because my kids get so excited and spazzy when we use it. But it is a lot of fun and very effective! #ecechat
Yes! I'm trying to offer more in this area. SEL is a passion of mine but I sometimes feel inadequate to truly help Ts deal with the challenges that today's students and subsequently our Ts face. We have to start with mindset and relationships and go from there. #ecechat
This is such a good point. Relationships are the building blocks to success, not just academic, but social/emotional growth as well. Developing authentic bonds w/ Ss allow for powerful learning. #ecechat
Saw a great Shadow Puppet book on twitter today that a T made with her weather pictures and then had her students write/say text to go with each picture. I will try and find it and send it to you. #ecechat

Thanks Katy! We’d really love to know what’s the foundation so we can work on it over the summer break. We do have lots of reading and focus group discussions to do #ECEchat
We (my class) has an ongoing @padlet to share pictures of our snow day fun and it's been super. Easy for the families, secure for their worries, and the kids love it! #ecechat

@GoNoodle continues to reek of awesomeness! 😀 #ecechat. A plethora of great music and movement activities. Every year my class loves GoNoodle time! One of their favorites each year? "Banana, Banana, Meatball." #ecechat

Must check out @Novel_Effect to go with read alouds! They have a soundtrack for Wolfie the Bunny too and are adding new books all the time! @katyphinney#ECEchat

I'm browsing around the @scholasticCDA website looking for books on Paramedics & Ambulances. Does anyone have any suggestions of great books on those topics for infants & preschool children? #ECEchat#EarlyChildhood#ChildCare@MCCAHOUSE
Speaking of cool tools for the young learners, my AI coordinator shared the Chrome Music Lab site with me. Absolutely phenomenal site to explore and experiment. #ecechathttps://t.co/VBayGk56dO
Working at a Development Center that focuses on playbased curriculum. I find a lot of the lessons are formed through discovery learning. Focusing on what the children are interested in (ie. rockets, bugs, food trucks) then building playbased activities regarding those. #ecechat
