TED_ED: Q1 How do we adapt to organizational changes while maintaining our primary purpose - motivating and creating a deep sense of purpose for all learners? #TEDEdChathttps://t.co/J0ORzg0m98#education#edchat
A1- It's imperative that we maintain our priority: taking the time to listen, understand and respond to staff and student needs and interests #TEDEdChat
Q1 How do we adapt to organizational changes while maintaining our primary purpose - motivating and creating a deep sense of purpose for all learners? #TEDEdChat
A2: By having an #agile workflow based on parameters as opposed to firm requirements. Flexibility can be applied allowing change to be integrated without having to impact on organizational systems. Be the sapling that bends in the wind. #TedEdChat

Q1 How do we adapt to organizational changes while maintaining our primary purpose - motivating and creating a deep sense of purpose for all learners? #TEDEdChat
A1 Remember that change, admin, and edufads come and go. However, the privilege of empowering and equipping learners will always remain at the foundation of what we are called to do. Organizational change must be for the good of students and not the career of admin. #TEDEdChat
Q1 How do we adapt to organizational changes while maintaining our primary purpose - motivating and creating a deep sense of purpose for all learners? #TEDEdChat
A1 I try not to get bogged down in changes, but I do try to teach Ss about those changes so they understand all of the new expectations/ramifications. Getting out ahead of it with the Ss really cuts down on the confusion #TEDEdChat
A1: being able to work collaboratively with a team that helps makes us better - whether it be lightening the load sometimes or inspiring us to do better. #TEDEdChat
Agreed. That being said I've had the pleasure with working some admin who filter out the noise and to allow teachers to concentrate on what they do best. #TEDEdChat
A1- During change people tend to be anxious if not scared. As educators we need listen and learn from our students so we can help them adapt to change. #TEDEdChat
A1 In addition there are changes to what awarding bodies the organisation decides to use, changes made to qualifications and latest Government policies e.g. in UK maths/English for 16-19yr olds - all have impact on teaching #TEDEdChat
Individuals adapt to changes through experiencing being in different environment such as from high school to university, from retail to Call Centre environment as well as constant business change due to technology disruption. Aware of the changes first before adapting #TEDEdChat
Agreed. I know it can vary from country to country and region to region within. I am thankful that I only hear about the nightmares in other spaces than my own. #TEDEdChat
Agreed. That being said I've had the pleasure with working some admin who filter out the noise and to allow teachers to concentrate on what they do best. #TEDEdChat
A2- building the notion of community throughout the school, growing inquiry, creating opportunities for project-based learning, and going deeper with our Indigenous learning SAP #TEDEdChat
Learn soft skills through in class activities, then allowing students to use those skills in actual setting such as competition, workplace, co-op etc and then being able to utilize those skills once individuals are out in society #TEDEdChat
I don't think education has to be this complicated. The org changes ought to be adapting to the need to create "a deep sense of purpose for all learners." We don't need to reinvent the education wheel because of "advances in technology." #TEDEdChat
As an Occasional Teacher I try to be involved in the culture of the school especially with the students. I implement my P.D in the classroom but socially I always try to be my quirky self with the students which builds relationships and trust.#TEDEdChat
Personally, I'm investing in raising the profile of the #OptOut movement. Our schools can grow when teachers aren't stymied by standardized testing and have the freedom to teach the individuals who sit in front of them, not following a script. #TEDEdChat 1/
This meets short terms goals to reduce anxiety in students and long term goals to make it clear to state legislators that we don't want our children participating in harmful testing practices. #OptOut#TEDEdChat /2
A2
- Promote #StudentVoice
- Work at modernizing the curriculum to include resilience building and life relevant learning,
- break down silos amongst educators, where educators work together more often
- embody otherliness in academics and actions
#TEDEdChat#onted
A2 - As a k team lead, I try to show my passion for inquiry-based learning by sharing it with those that show some interest. Also, giving students a true voice in their own learning journeys will foster more engaged and motivated learners. #TEDEdChat
A1- During change people tend to be anxious if not scared. As educators we need listen and learn from our students so we can help them adapt to change. #TEDEdChat
A2 - reflecting on, and rethinking school routines, assessment, expectations, etc. through the lens of inspiring, nurturing, and empowering students to become effective, successful, creative, resilient , global citizens. #TEDEdChat
A3- modelling responsive pedagogy and designing authentic learning opportunities; ensuring that the “what” and “how” are determined through collaboration #TEDEdChat
A3 My students and I work through challenges together. We try new tech & new techniques and we reflect all the time. We try, we fail, we talk, we try again. Sometimes they are the best teachers in the class! #TEDEdChat
A3: Being intentional with the planning of projects that allow for #studentvoice and the development of #metacognition. When they can recognize obstacles, and make a plan for overcoming them the benefits of #growthmindset can be spectacular!! #TEDEdChat
Listening to students about their issues by asking deep questions about their challenges, how students have been learning etc to determine their best learning styles and offer advice to improve their weaknesses. Implement an action plan to improve #TEDEdChat
1. Listen to everyone: Your kids, your colleagues, your administrators. They all have lessons to teach you.
2. Admit when you don't know something and get excited to learn something new.
3. Change your opinion when presented with new evidence.

A3 - I feel that allowing students to see their educators willing to rethink and relearn alongside them is the best way to foster a safe classroom community. This will help students to see that learning never stops and that it is ok to try, to fail and to try again. #TEDEdChat
A3 "You have two ears and one mouth. That's the ratio." - via my mom. How we structure our classrooms can awaken #StudentVoice or put it into a coma. Creating a space for Ss to share, fail, learn, relearn, & grow starts by listening to what's said and what's not. #TEDEdChat
A3: through class meetings, conferencing, our small groups doing guided reading, and by having students see us positively collaborating with our colleagues #TEDEdChat

Aside from modeling listening & learning (and owning mistakes and being okay saying “I don’t know- let me research this and get back to you”)... I found role playing in my classroom to be effective in helping students put themselves in someone else’s shoes. #TEDEdChat
Q3 We have daily convos about the reciprocal role of teaching each other. I tell my ss every day what they have taught me. This yr my ss are amazing teachers to me, consistently mirroring back what has been focused on in class particularly with mindfulness in our room #TEDEdChat
The social component to teaching is something I wish I would have learned right away. If used effectively it can be a game changer. Going from a "crowd" to a "team." #TEDEdChat
A3 - educators as co-learners and partners with staff, students and families -viewing each person as a competent contributor with valuable experiences, ideas and insight #TEDEdChat
And allowing for freedom in their means of expression. It's nice to be able to get a "science mark and writing mark" out of 1 assignment. But is the means of expression an obstacle to a lot of Ss? Shouldn't they be able to choose how they demonstrate what they know? #tededchat
Being the smartest person is not good if we don't use those smarts to help those around us. Esp true as educators, both in classroom and with P2P interactions. It helps when ed admins model this behavior in staff meetings to create culture at the school. #TEDEdChat
A3- I really believe that restorative practices such as community circles focuses on everyone listening and being accountable. A Growth mindset needs an open mind which we need demonstrate to our students.#TEDEdChat
A3 Risk-taking, working outside of one's comfort zone at times, and a willingness to move forward with something new/unfamiliar is what I have been doing before 'growth mindset' was devised. #TEDEdChat

I think it's about hearing everyone ideas - especially the ones that are opposable to your own. Multiple perspectives are necessary to help us make the best decisions for our Ss. #TEDEdChat
A4- leading with the heart- valuing the perspective of others, adopting a learners mindset, and creating meaningful growth opportunities for all team members #TEDEdChat
A4 I model it with my peers when talking about something I've recently tried and encourage students to give each other shoutouts when working on something. #tededchat
A4 Everyone is a 10 out of 10 at something. The world gains when it discovers and give of its talents.
All stakeholders in education must be at the table-students, teachers, parents, and admin must all be heard. #TEDEdChat
I think there are so many different ways this could look. Sometimes leadership, as in the quote, is more about helping others shine and find that space than it is about you shining. #tededchat
A4- Basketball is a team sport therefore not one person can score all the points. Everybody on that team contributed even if they had a bad game. Therefore, as leaders we need to create positive reinforcement and descriptive feedback which is inclusive behaviours #TEDEdChat
Inclusive leadership is giving credit where it is due and looking to recruit leaders from a variety of backgrounds. Research shows students have more success when their teachers/leaders look like them, for a variety of reasons. #TEDEdChat
A2 - I’m passionate about growth mindset - students feeling accomplished and successful. As educators, students look to us to help them on their learning journey. It is up to us to ensure they are understanding and engaged in their own development. #TEDEdChat
A4 Inclusive leadership is to be aware of your own biases. It is imperative to seek out and consider different viewpoints and perspectives. The inclusive leader knows how to empower, support and leverage all stakeholders while demonstrating humility and courage. #TEDEdChat
There's a great line in John Hunter's TED talk where he mentions we stand on the shoulders of giants. It's really been stuck in my mind lately as I reflected on my journey. https://t.co/e2RjrsuVbA#TEDedchat
In addition, the inclusive leader makes cultural responsive pedagogy an integral part of school success goals. Student voice and choice should be reflective to meet learner needs effectively for student success. #TEDEdChat
